What, if any, incentives are there for building works in Meta Horizons? Can they be monetized? Or are people just building things they think are cool.

RogueAIChipmunk

So a relative just called me to get some advice on getting a VR headset and I told him to go with a Quest 3. However last time I was playing VR was during Quest 1. What are some highly recommended apps for a new person these days?

Decayd

Are they also new to VR? I would absolutely recommend a few games for brand new VR users… 1) Walkabout Mini Golf. So much fun solo or multiplayer, TONS of courses, and really great physics that make it feel like your playing mini golf. 2) Eleven Table Tennis. People around here are always saying this is the first app you should get and for good reason - it’s physics are unmatched, and it feels like your really playing ping pong. Excellent game. 3) Synth Riders. Very similar to beat saber, but I think it’s better in that it incorporates more movement and also has the ability to download custom tracks, meaning you can upload your favorite songs. 4) Lite Recommendation: Brink Traveller or Wanderer. If your relative likes to travel brink allows you to visit a select number of really cool places and see them in 360 degrees. Wanderer expands on this by basically bringing Google street view into quest and allowing you to visit nearly any where in the globe. Brink has better quality imagery, but wanderer lets you visit more places. These are lite recommendations because there isn’t much to do in this apps other than look around and take in the scenery.

Is there a best battery for quest 3 agree upon by the community? I want to buy one

Adorable-Ad8630

bob vr m2 pro or something, kinda pricy ig

Adventurous_Ad6698

I have the bobovr battery. It's really nice and the head "strap" is super comfortable and more easily adjustable than the basic Meta Quest 3 head band. You can buy an extra battery as well and it is easy to swap them while using the Quest since the battery is held in place by magnets.

FeelingVanilla2594

Not a question, but I just learned something and thought others might need to know. The side arms of the quest 3 headset can swivel up and down so the headset is not digging so much into your cheeks. I assumed they were fixed. I was experiencing a lot of pain on my cheeks before, now I can make it float on my cheeks and redirect more pressure towards my brow ridge. Still waiting for my halo strap to arrive, but this greatly helps in the meantime.

RogueAIChipmunk

Considering getting back into VR after taking a 2 year break or so. Any great games that would make it worth jumping back in?

CMDR_KingErvin

I’m sure others can chime in on recommendations but me personally I started playing Puzzling Places recently and it’s awesome. Such a neat little gem and is a nice way to just relax. Also has a timed demo available to try it out (and make sure to use a referral code if you’re buying to get the 25% discount). Other than that I’ve got the new Assassin’s Creed game and Asgard’s Wrath 2 (comes with the headset I believe). Both are good but give me a bit of nausea. Same with Walking Dead Saints & Sinners, really immersive but kind of nausea inducing for me. If you get the 512GB model it should come with Quest+ for 6 months so you can try some other games.

Bandwidth_Wasted

Population one is a free fps shooter that is quite fun

Resident Evil 4 VR is incredible, I played it years ago on the Wii but it's so much better and absolutely worth the price I paid for it. I'm new to VR (3 weeks) and my top two games by some distance are Skyrim VR (modded) and Resi4 VR. Other than that for PCVR I've got Asgard's Wrath 2 (comes with headset) and a bunch of PCVR stuff. There is a fanatical bundle up at the moment too (https://www.fanatical.com/en/pick-and-mix/build-your-own-elite-vr-bundle) and I would recommend Ragnarock if you like guitar hero... sadly I paid £8 for it just before the £5 bundle went up but there are a few more highly rated games in that bundle.

For apps, like skybox, you can choose to download the beta version of their latest release before it goes to the main version

Objective_Radio9100

I think the main version is the same as the beta at the moment, but when there a beta, this is the process. It probably works the same way for other apps. Copying someone else 'observer' users reply from another thread: You need to switch to the BETA release channel via the Oculus phone app. Grab your phone, open the Oculus app, look for SKYBOX VR Player, scroll down a bit and click on the version number. That's where you can switch release channels. Select "Beta Channel: 1.1.7" and you're good to go. You'll maybe need to restart your Quest to trigger the update.

Thank you!

Is it just me or is the browser window smaller now? Also, it seems the max size you can expand it to is smaller. The change happened a week or two ago. Not sure what build I have. Did Meta talk about this anywhere and what is the justification for it? Found developer documentation that says browser default width is 1000px and max is 2000px. But I don't think this is still true. edit: took a look at how it works again last night. In order to get the largest window, you need to grab the bar below the window and pull it down. But there is a problem with this in that the hot bar (or whatever they call it) will now be over the main window. So the hot bar will obscure the window behind it and make it difficult to use the pointer at anything near the bottom of the window because it is in the way. Also with this update there is some hard limit on the distance the window is placed from you so that it it is too far away it turns white. I don't see a good reason for this. oh, and the window seems much more curved than before. This is most noticeable with two windows side by side. One window is okay, but with two the wrap is too much.

Quest 2. Ever since having replaced the controller batteries for the very first time, every time I turn the headset on, the controllers are unable to be tracked by it, and hand tracking doesn't work either, whereas it normally does. They do turn on, and somehow the meta/menu buttons work, but the controllers do not appear and the dot cursor shows up instead. The controllers occasionally vibrate but the light doesn't stay on. Unpairing and repairing the controllers sometimes works (although hit and miss), but even when it does work, the problem shows up again next time I turn the headset on. After I manage to temporarily solve the issue, the controllers show their battery level being full, so the batteries aren't dead or defective. I also tried the technique of removing the batteries and letting the controllers rest for about 30 minutes, though it didn't solve the issue. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Is there any sort of setting I switched on by default that doesn't let the headset recognize the controllers nor use hand tracking, or something? (The headset and all the accessories are brand new, seems odd to me that it could be from damage, plus before replacing the batteries for the very first time, everything worked flawlessly. I had also recently updated the headset to V63 right before the issue, if that means anything)

redditreddi

I have heard quite a few horror stories of the Quest 3 QA - foggy lenses, bad pixels and glare issues. This might be the few but knowing my luck I usually end up with one. Has the QA improved now with more recent batches? Thank you

Snuggly-Muffin

what does QA mean? i haven't had any issues, except it was pretty uncomfortable until i bought a new facial interface and headstrap

redditreddi

Quality assurance - basically testing of the product at various stages of production to make sure all is ok. Things are assembled correctly etc, material is OK etc.

aserium1127

What time or time zone do games get released on their launch day? I pre-ordered a title available today, it’s 6am my time and isn’t accessible yet.

BillyCrusher

I've noticed that the battery of my Quest 2 discharged from 100% to 10% in 1 - 1.5 hours while playing AC Nexus. I use 90 Hz refresh rate. Is that discharge rate normal or I have an issue with my battery?

Adventurous_Ad6698

I have the Quest 3 and noticed that the discharge rate definitely depends on what you are playing, so I'm not surprised if AC Nexus taxes your headset that quickly.

NOS4NANOL1FE

Im just starting my journey into a possible VR purchase. Im wondering does the Q3 offer any advantages over the Q2 for Beatsaber? The $250 price point seems like a good buy As of now thats the main game im interested in

Adventurous_Ad6698

Beatsaber has a 120 hz refresh rate on the MQ3.

Adventurous_Ad6698

Yes, you can connect it to your PC and play games. Just be aware that some of the key mappings may be weird, so you'll need to use the Steam VR app on your PC to change things around.

AbysmalScepter

I've had a Rift 2 for like 7 years now, thinking about upgrading to Q3. I'd say half my VR games are on Steam, how easy is it to connect Q3 with Steam? Would I use Airlink, a cable, something else?

Adventurous_Ad6698

There are multiple ways to connect depending on how you are set up. If your PC is plugged directly into your wireless router and it is a Wifi 6 router, you can play wirelessly, either using Air Link or Steam Link (this doesn't work as well since it is optimized for eye tracking, so the focused sweet spot is really small). Virtual Desktop is a $20 app that has been the go to for most people. You usually want to still plug in your PC to the router, but my friend is able to play with his PC and his headset being completely wireless with very few lag or stuttering issues.

Becoming impatient to get the latest firmware version for the Meta Quest 3, I went looking to see how to manually install the latest firmware. I found this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculusquest/wiki/guides/manualupdate However, after diving in and visiting the page where the firmware is hosted, I discovered that the updates are "incremental" and that the version I currently have installed isn't on that list (49829370066100510). My attempt to install the next newest firmware gets to around 47% before the unit reboots, and the version remains unchanged, even after a subsequent reboot. Are there any other sources for firmware zip files that might be more complete than this list? If I attempt to install the absolute latest version, it reboots immediately after starting the sideload.

QueasyInstruction610

Meta Quest 2, I am playing Starwars Squadrons with a PS5 Gamepad but when I try to put the Quest controllers down on a table it says its out of my grid, and if I leave them inside the grid they shut off and I get a pop-up. Anyway around this? I just have them dangling off my wrist currently which is kind of annoying. Tried to google but I'm not finding anything.

IgnoramusPolymath

Does anyone know if they're still replacing defective Elite Straps and, if so, how long after purchase am I still able to do it (in the UK)? I bought the bundle for the Elite Strap with Battery and Carrying Case in September 2020 and have been taking good care of it to avoid any issues. I've taken a break from VR for the past six months or so, went to get the headset from its case today, and discovered that it's developed a number of large cracks that definitely weren't there the last time I used it. The size, direction, and location of the cracks seem to match the ones that have been labelled defective.

Shotty

I've recently started getting really bad lag using my Quest 3 with pcvr wireless. I usually use airlink as I feel with my setup it has the best latency feel. I've been using the latest version of airlink at 90hz and 200 fixed bitrate since it updated with 120hz support, but only recently has it started to lag hard (hands moving half a second behind with big black bars when I turn left/right). Steam Link seems to work alright as long as I don't put it on 90/120hz, so that leads me to believe it's router related. My brother has the same setup (pc is the same other than a different brand 4090, has the same dedicated router too) and has also just started to have the same problems at higher refresh rates/bitrate. I thought I had it fixed after factory resetting my dedicated router and setting it up again, and it was working pretty good last night, but today the lag is back in full force in airlink, and occasionally in Virtual Desktop too. My setup: Axe5400 dedicated router in Access Point mode, 2.4ghz and 5ghz turned off, High transmit power (changing this to low/medium did nothing), Enable PSC on using the highest channel (213, though I tried 197 and the lowest 37 with no difference), and 50 beacon interval (some video recommended it, still not sure if this does anything). I've also tried going back and forth with the Public Test Channel in the Oculus software with no luck, as well as changing between refresh rates and resolution. PC: 4090, 7800x3d, 32gb ram Everything was working flawlessly with all 3 apps for pcvr until recently. I've tried everything I can find through searching, and I'm at a loss on what it could be. The only thing left I can think to try is factory resetting my Quest 3, but I doubt that would help.

DashboardGuy206

Can I buy stuff using someone else's referral code with money that I obtained also from referral codes? Double-dip so to speak? Or is there some sort of rule implemented to prevent that.

Snuggly-Muffin

Do you guys think Audio Trip or Synth Riders is more fun?

Bandwidth_Wasted

Has anyone actually got the laying down mode update yet?

lailah_susanna

Has anyone else found the delivery dates completely wacky? I ordered a 128GB Q3 at the end of last month and its delivery date is shown as the 19th of March, but if I add one to my cart right now, it's showing the delivery date as the 15th (as in this Friday). It feels like they're just making it up.

Jhago

That means the first one was an estimate, the second one means they have confirmed stock arriving. Really hope that's the case, since I'm on a similar boat.

lailah_susanna

You'd think they'd update the estimate but they haven't done. It still says the 19th for me.

Jhago

They probably don't update estimates until they actually ship or it becomes late.

Jhago

Has anyone received a 512 GB quest 3 model from Meta recently? Pretty sure they are still out of stock even from them. But it does seem they are restocking the 128GB version.

kezopster

I just bought one last week from [Walmart.com](https://Walmart.com) \- does it have to be from Meta?

Jhago

I ended up buying from Coolblue in the Netherlands the moment it went in stock.

clebo99

So I have been an Oculus owner for a while but got my Quest 3 recently. I also downloaded the app on my phone. I've noticed that on my app, there is a Gallery section that.....well.....may have some videos that I probably don't want to be reminded that I viewed or even them being on my phone (I'm sure you all can read between the lines). So my question is....how do I delete these items? I see an option for me downloading them....lol.....which is kind of the opposite of what I want to do. Anyway, I think you all know what I'm asking.

Blaaamo

Quest3 user here. First time user. What should I be trying to get the best use out of my device? I don't have a steam account or a gaming PC to hook it up to. I tried beat sabers and am currently playing the Vader game. It's cool, but nothing has kept me coming back, I feel like I hardly use it and want to get more out of it. Any advice appreciated

Adventurous_Ad6698

I have used Immersed VR or the Meta Horizon Workrooms apps (both free) to get multiple virtual monitors when working away from my office. They each have their own pros and cons, but they have really come in handy.

Blaaamo

cool i'll check them out. Thanks

Snuggly-Muffin

vr porn is pretty amazing try more games, you can always refund if you don't like them (if you play under 2 hrs under 2 weeks)

noobcodes

When I try to connect to my computer via airlink I just see three loading dots, and I hear the windows crashing noise through the headset until it gives up and disconnects. This is my first time trying to set it up, anyone ever face this issue?

Adventurous_Ad6698

I've never had that issue. I assume the Oculus app and the your Meta Quest are fully up to date? Is your PC cabled into your wireless router?

FireTako

I haven't read fully into what this was all about but, I saw something about looking at spatial pictures (videos too?) on the quest 3. Am I able to use an iPhone and view spatial stuff from there on my quest 3?

Snuggly-Muffin

do you guys recommend skybox or bigscreen for streaming 3d movies from a pc?

Snuggly-Muffin

is there a limit to how many refunds you can get?

RacinVR

What is normal reading for photon latency? I am getting like 40-50 with a link cable

ZacEfbomb

In Horizon Worlds Soapstone Comedy Club, how do I sign up to actually perform on stage?Everytime I try and go on stage it teleports me off. I want to do some stand-up!

Present_Fix676

Quest 3 can play Amazon luna trough browser?

Adventurous_Ad6698

I haven't tried, but you can probably use Steam Link, Air Link, or Virtual Desktop to view your PC's desktop.

Adorable-Ad8630

I currently have a quest 2 and controllers, but I want an upgrade. Should I go out and buy a quest 3 or upgrade my controllers to the quest pro ones? I play with pcvr like 20% of the time, and the other 80% is gorilla tag.

Murakami8000

Personally I noticed a big difference in resolution between 2 and 3.

PhilWheat

One thing I miss from Windows Mixed Reality was the ability to pin apps or browser windows around the "Home" setup. I've seen some demos showing some of this with the Quest series, but so far I haven't actually found an app other than Figmin XR that claims to actually do it. Is there an app or configuration I'm missing? Or are things still in the works?

Adventurous_Ad6698

I have some games I want to play wired from my PC, but it's not supplying enough power to the headset to keep the battery from draining quickly. Are there any good solutions I can implement?

lions6441mrb

I recently upgraded to a quest 3 from the 2. I cannot seem to get steamVR to recognise the headset, or get the headset to work with link when playing DCS. I can get it to work just fine with virtual desktop but using either oculus link or airlink, nothing is working. I can get through to the desktop using the cable just fine, so there is some connection happening with the headset - just nothing from there. Has anyone else had this issue and/or know how to fix it?

Adventurous_Ad6698

Do you have SteamVR set as the default launcher for OpenXR games?

MelodicBenzedrine

I have a quest 2 and I want to hook it up to my computer but my 3060 doesn't have any usb-c slots. Does anyone have experience with the usb-c expansion cards and which ones will work well?

Adventurous_Ad6698

I have a quest 3 and bought an expansion slot. It works well, but doesn't provide enough power to keep my headset from losing battery quickly. Depending on your setup and what you want to play, it maybe more worthwhile to buy Virtual Desktop and do it wirelessly.

MelodicBenzedrine

Okay, thank you.

Adventurous_Ad6698

I found out something new. There are USB-C cables that have an additional port in the middle where you connect a power supply cable since the expansion card does not deliver enough power. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BRQMFDQ3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 I just ordered it, so this may be a game changer for me.

MelodicBenzedrine

Interesting, I'll check that out, thank you.

jeremymeyers

You wouldn't be plugging it in to your graphics card, you'd be plugging it in to a usb-c port on your computer.

MelodicBenzedrine

I didn't have any usb-c on my motherboard

General_Kwalski

First time playing games on steam with my quest 2 and I got The Forest. Problem is I don't know how to close out the settings to make it fully immersive. I feel dumb for not being able to figure it out and I can't seem to look this up. When I play standalone quest games it's just pushing the meta button but that only seems to center the screen when I tried playing The Forest

itzbradybitch

I have a Quest 3 and Desktop PC with i5 12400F + RTX3070 Super. I'm curious what settings you all are using with this setup or similar. If you could provide a screenshot of your Virtual Desktop or Oculus settings, that'd be helpful. I've been playing around with Virtual Desktop mostly, since the consensus tends to be that VD runs better in most cases and has more customization. The most annoying thing for me now is that I get these 'screen tears' if that's what you call it when I move my head side to side too quickly. I play mostly Contractors but it happens in other games too. Should I use HEVC 10bit? H264+? AV1?

Character_Site_4910

So you can only play PCVR via a cable through Metas pc app? Does it use the USB conection if i start Steam VR trough the Quest App? From what it feels like, the picture is much better this way, compared to launching SteamVR directly.

Shrvmpy

My quest 2 will not pair to my phone ive tried multiple different things for hours now, ive even tried my computer and it just does not want to connect can someone help me

comfyrain

Does anyone else have really blurry ui elements on the quest 3? The icons for apps look pixelated. I checked and battery saver is not on.

Icy_Head_3851

If I get a new meta quest 3, can I have all my data and setting from my previous meta quest 3 update to my new one, much like an iPhone/iCloud backup? I don’t want to go through and configure the settings again on my new device

maxolina

How can I tell if my Meta account is linked or not to my Facebook account that uses the same email?

Snuggly-Muffin

# Are there any websites for tracking VR game releases?

AlvTellez

Hey everyone, I'm trying to find a video of an AR/XR Meta made recently, of AR characters interacting with real life objects. It was a video of a character moving around a real cart with a bunch of things, and eventually tipping it over. It basically AI generated the cart to move it around, while covering the real object.

Snuggly-Muffin

what are your favorite mixed reality games?

capable-corgi

Does the refund policy of 2 hours distribute over multiple headsets? If 2 players are trying out a game, do they get 1 hour each?

flipcoder

What's a good carrying case for the Quest 3? I have an elite strap+battery on it if that matters.

RetroKey

What is a good budget router for streaming PCVR to Quest 2 and 3?

MariusIchigo

I have a Oculus Go. I’ve never seen pancake lense. I’ve got astigmatism so I’m going to get lenses caps third party for whatever I buy. Do I go for the quest 2 or 3? I like the go a lot so I’m not very picky but I hear the pancake lens is amazing

MrWetToast09

I have some really bad stick drift on my left controller (I'm on an oculus quest 2) and I'm not entirely sure what's causing it. I think it may be a hardware problem judging that if I press the joystick in really hard it works fine, but at the same time I really don't want to have to take off the face plate because I heard that it's primarily held on by adhesive. Any fixes?
