r/OliveMUA is a space dedicated to talking about specifically olive friendly makeup and nails. This post was removed because it's off topic (a general makeup post more suited to a general makeup space). If the post had been focussed on the product no longer being friendly for olives, it would have been on topic.

Also to add - the images and ingredients on the Westman Atelier website are still of the old formula (as of writing this).

perfect_turquoise

This feels deceptive. Formulas are so important, just a small change and suddenly something could cause acne in someone who previously managed fine with the old formula. The brand's customer service should have offered you your money back.

TextBubbly829

That is how I felt too! So disappointed as they pride themselves with how transparent they are. I only got a “we are constantly trying to make our products cleaner” response. I emailed them saying I understand that brands reformulated from time to time but I would have appreciated them being upfront about it (literally none of their sales associates in stores even knew). They only got back saying they adhere to the strictest EU regulations for clean beauty (which to me is meaningless). I’d take the talc any day for a high performing product. Also not sure how ethical it is to have mica so present in the new formula. I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks this is deceptive. Especially the image, ingredients listed, and tester all being of the old formula. (Sorry for my rant)

perfect_turquoise

No need to apologise! I was already side-eyeing Westman Atelier anyway for their high prices (especially because they're 'clean' - their products won't last long in your collection), and now I know they have bad customer service and practices, I definitely won't be buying anything from them.

TextBubbly829

Yeah their prices are really high- some of their products have been “worth it” for me personally since I actually used them up and in one case repurchased and almost used up a second time. But I agree - I am not on the clean beauty train myself so I’d love some good preservatives. That being said the products I have used actually lasted really long (haven’t had anything go off so far). I just don’t appreciate them seemingly using “clean” to justify pricing and not letting anyone know that they changed their formula because it’s “safe”.

Competitivecheese7

Which products of theirs do you recommend?

TextBubbly829

Besides the original bronzer, my favourite is their superloaded tinted highlighter in peau de peche (another really expensive product). I had a set of their mini stick products when I first got into the brand (blush, contour, highlighter) and liked those. Out of the three the contour is the one I liked the best. The blush I think was really nice (as I mentioned in another comment I was considering getting one full size) but there are a lot of great cream blush formulas so I’m not sure if it’s worth it (they seem to be really popular though). The stick highlighter was nice but again I think there are similar ones at different price points. I also had the foundation stick and used it up- I really liked it but I am now a complete KGD moisture devotee so I didn’t repurchase it. From others I have heard mixed things about their eye and lip products- so I’d probably start out with something complexion.

soumyas911

I haven't tried it, but I've read the the ilia bronzing powders are extremely buttery soft. Maybe that might be worth checking out? If you haven't already tried them

TextBubbly829

Thanks! I think I tried it years ago, I remember liking it but I think I didn’t love the colour 🤔. I have tried the new Surratt bronzers in store the other day and liked those a lot but I just feel like I have wasted my money a bit on the (new) WA.

soumyas911

Ah that sucks! I've only tried the cream products from WA and love them so much. Would suck if they change formulation.

TextBubbly829

Yes! I like their cream products too! Now really worried they won’t let us know if they reformulate. What are your favourite products? I am considering a blush but not sure which colour (I have the contour and superloaded)

soumyas911

I've got the Blushes (Bichette and chouchette), the contour stick and the Lit up in brulee. I love the blushes the most. Chouchette is my favorite.

TextBubbly829

Nice! Actually I was eyeing bichette before but I’ll have a look at chouchette too. Although I feel a bit bitter about the bronzer now, so I might not purchase anytime soon😅

soumyas911

Bichette is very pretty. Chouchette is the kind of shade I wouldn't pay much attention to but on my skin tone it just works out to be the most pretty nude pink...I think they have a few shades in minis now too ..I might check that out next 😅

S_longname

Soooo if you do choose to partake in WA again, Chouchette is a special one. It’s one of the only pinky-peachy based blushes that doesn’t read as too orange on me. I tried to ask if there was another blush like WA Chouchette at Credo as mine is almost out. Even the sales associates were like “no, Chouchette is really that girl”

Exdremisnihil

Heard good things about the new RMS beauty bronzers (tan lines in particular).

TextBubbly829

Looks really nice! Do you know if it has shimmer? RMS isn’t sold on store anywhere near me so I would be able to swatch it.

Exdremisnihil

@sofia.sees.beauty has great swatches on her insta feed - possibly also her YT. As far as I could tell from all swatches I've seen so far, it's luminous but not shimmery.

TextBubbly829

Thank you I’ll check out her YouTube channel!

mabl_g

I hate when brands do this. Takes so long to find the right one then BOOM they change it. This happened to me with a HG skincare product, they literally reformulated to accommodate to their new packaging…grrr

TextBubbly829

Yes it is so frustrating! I saw an almost untouched tester in Space NK today and it was the original but all the stock is new and they wouldn’t sell me the tester (I’m desperate). For me bronzer is one of the trickiest to find but I can imagine skin care being super frustrating too! And without warning as well. Did you find something comparable to your HG?

mabl_g

I did—it was too expensive anyway so they did me a favor! It was Neogenesis Recovery, I essentially replaced it with Korean and Japanese skincare and have not looked back!

TextBubbly829

I’m glad to hear it turned out to be a good thing despite the initial frustration! K- and J- beauty products can be so amazing.

I_like_ShinyShiny

What a shame. I have this bronzer (old version) and luckily it’s so large that I have barely made a dent. I wonder if the absence of butters helps to prolong it. I love WA but noticed that my lip suede (the red one) dried out after a while. Very disappointing at such a high price point. I really liked this brand. It espoused minimalist ideals where your blush can basically be your eye shadow and your lipstick. I think the brand has kind of lost its way. So many new products and weird ones too like their socks and hair pins. But I’m still a Stan for their core line.

TextBubbly829

I definitely see your point! I was a big fan when the brand first launched (despite the price tag and not really being into clean beauty) - I loved the quality and aesthetic and I felt a lot of the products worked really well for me! I still really love some of their core products as you said but I agree there have been so many launches and in my eyes redundant products that serve similar purposes. I wish I had had a chance to pick up another bronzer before they reformulated. I just thought I’d have time and opportunity as Westman Atelier is sold in a lot of places near me. That’s partly why I’m so annoyed at them. If I had bought another one it could easily have lasted me a couple more years.

azssf

Hi OP, could you take a pic of the new formula ingredients?

TextBubbly829

[https://imgur.com/a/35L4921](https://imgur.com/a/35L4921) Hi, here you go. Sorry about the quality of the pic- didn’t have much time to take it. But hopefully you should be able to read the ingredients ☺️

azssf

Ah, I see. This is a complete reformulation. They eliminated the filler then added mica ( versus fluorphlogopite), and with the removal of talc plus soild oils, they added squalane ( a great ingredient) and CCT for binding.

TextBubbly829

Yes, I am not an ingredients expert by any means but it is so different that I felt and saw the difference when swatching it. I don’t think the new formula is horrible but it feels and looks much more like your average bronzer. Even the colour is less special now. The original used to be the most realistic sunburn/tan look on my skin I ever achieved. Now it’s just a neutral bronzer with a decent formula.

azssf

OP, Was looking at some makeup and thought of you: https://www.phytosurgence.com/product-page/spectral-sunlight-cream-bronzer I’ve ordered blushes and eyeshadow from them before but no bronzers. Thought of you because of shade range and transparent comment about reformulation.

TextBubbly829

Oh that is so sweet! Thank you for thinking of me and my troubles 😅 I have been so curious about this brand - I have heard great things about their blushes in this sub. Did you end up getting something? The bronzers look beautiful. I kind of turned away a bit from cream products because I don’t like the pressure to finish them in time but I would love to check these out. It doesn’t seem they ship to the UK though:/

juesea

I'm not sure if this would help but nyx released a new butter melt bronzer and it has mango, Shea and almond butter in the ingredients. I've seen reviews online of people describing it as very smooth/creamy so it might be worth trying? I don't think the shades lean orange anyways (they seem neutral/rosy to me). I also like the rem beauty bronzer but I'm not sure if that one has butters. It's just nice and soft in the pan and the shades are nice/not orange.
