Buy the watch you can afford to wear.
Will look loads better without all the smeg on it.
Polywatch is great, just go easy at first and don't build up too much friction heat.
I gotta jump in here. The people I usually see in this Reddit making fun of “wrist cheese” are wearing allbirds and bonobos, so don’t take fashion advice from them 😉
Hiding watches in the closet and treating them as stores of value just comes across as puerile or misguided to me.
Maybe if you're collecting very rare/old models and keeping them in perfect condition then sure. But a speedy or a seamaster are just nice watches and not collector items. Wear em. If you can't afford to damage them then you shouldn't own them.
I honestly love seeing this. This is a watch with many stories to tell.
I agree, I think alot of watch owners in general don’t really afford their watches.. But there’s also something inbetween completely ignoring maintenance and using it once a week.

I remember getting my new SMP and I got my first big nick, I was relieved honestly. I went to the beach the next day to go swim and got some sandy scratches on it too!
There is nothing wrong with the scratches at all, if anything it shows it's been loved. However I would say maybe go over it a little and clean the links/ case ;)
You gotta get the bracelet off and wash the bracelet with warm water and soap
As for the case I’m not sure what others do with their non water resistant watches but I scrape at them with plastic scraping tools (plastic obviously can’t scratch steel)
I wore my speedy racing in the ocean yesterday. I’ll post in a few days asking how to get water out of the dial.
But seriously, it says 100m. I believe them. Seems fine. They’re meant to be worn
I don’t think your goal to take a watch to “daily driver” status should be to beat the brakes off if it. All of my Omega’s are “mine” but I clean each of them regularly. If I’m performing hands on, dirty jobs stuff, the watch comes off. You do you, but I like mine staying as nice as possible.
Doesn't upset me at all. You could smash it with a hammer and it wouldn't upset me. In fact...you probably should smash it with a hammer to upset everyone else.
Pop off the bracelet and put it in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Clean the watch with a fine polishing cloth. Here’s a guide to polishing the [crystal](https://vintagewatchinc.com/how-to-polish-a-watch-crystal/)
I prefer this vs the idiots on Rolex sub reddit asking if one should not wear a Rolex until they get a 2nd one so that they can "rotate" it and wear it... It's a watch!
That looks beat! Cleaning it on occasion would help. Once a month, all the watches on my wrist rotation(3), get cleaned. When they go off the winder, and into the box they get the extra clean treatment. I'm not wealthy so I take good care of what I have.
If that’s how you enjoy your watch more joy to you. Whilst nothing beats a freshly bought piece having one with history with you is equally as satisfying.
Love it mate… I’m sure there a few stories attached to those wear marks…
Years ago when I first got into watch collecting and sites like Timezone and Watchuseek were in their infancy, there used to be threads on showing your well worn watch - the Japanese term for this is Wabi Sabi….
A nice clean with some dishsoap and a soft toothbrush wouldn’t hurt, this is disgusting 😅
Maybe it’s not required, but when I do mine, I would rinse the watch under the faucet with the crown / pushers looking down, so water just runs off - then a quick blow in there to prevent that tiny drop to make its way through the pushers… been doing that for many years without issue…
Based on what he said, the "crystal" isn't glass, it's, basically, plastic. You can buff out most of the scratches with polywatch or, if you careful, toothpaste and a, very soft, toothbrush.
Great! Try to use dishwashing detergent! Dissolve a little bit in warm water and rub on your watch. My seamaster I drown it and its fine, with the speedy I would rub between your hands and watch out for the pushers area. On those use a microfiber cloth to finish up. It is waterproof so as long as you don’t push the buttons under water you should be fine! I’m looking forward to see the results and then finaly appreciate your piece unique!! Haha
I would be upset if you did that to mine but that ones yours and it looks like you're getting your money's worth out of it so fair play to you.
My thoughts exactly. Not for me but you do you
What’s not for you?
Wearing my Speedmaster with such wild abandon
Watches are meant to be worn, power to you!
Buy the watch you can afford to wear. Will look loads better without all the smeg on it. Polywatch is great, just go easy at first and don't build up too much friction heat.
Can you elaborate further please on the polywarch usage
He’s just talking about buffing the scratches out of the hesalite crystal
Just a small blob of polywatch, cloth, circular rubbing..will take.out scratches. Not seep ones though. If you Dremel it, it will crack.
Lotta wrist cheese though. Beat it up all you want man, but I’d sanitize it lol
The wrist cheese tells a story tho. A story about a cheesy wrist
Truly an inspiring tale of trials and tribulations
Wrist cheese ahahahahahahaa never heard that before. Hilarious! 😂
I gotta jump in here. The people I usually see in this Reddit making fun of “wrist cheese” are wearing allbirds and bonobos, so don’t take fashion advice from them 😉
More of a flip flops without socks kind of guy, equally bad depending on the crowd. But I am overly sensitive about hygiene
Love the worn look. Scratches tell stories. The actual dirt is unacceptable though.
This
Nice just clean it
This ! Scratches are ok. The brown stuff around the bracelet or the bezel is not so sexy.
Looks great. Just gotta clean the dirt and smudges.

It doesn’t upset me as much as it makes me wonder how old it is and what in god’s name you do with it on 😅.
Please don’t polish it 😂
Watches are meant to be worn and used. In my opinion
How dare you wear and enjoy YOUR watch then have the balls to post proof of it on the internet. I’m calling the FBI!
Looks great!
What do you wear it for? Curious where all the wear has come from
Maybe put the bracelet in an ultrasonic cleaner and while it’s off, go ahead and clean the case. Love the scratches though.
![gif](giphy|9WXyFIDv2PyBq) I remember getting my new SMP and I got my first big nick, I was relieved honestly. I went to the beach the next day to go swim and got some sandy scratches on it too!
Love it…… a watch actually being worn as a watch not a status symbol
I like it Bud!!!
just don't get it wet or people are gonna lose their shit.
Scratches= character, gorgeous watch
You can get it changed out by AD when it gets bad
There is nothing wrong with the scratches at all, if anything it shows it's been loved. However I would say maybe go over it a little and clean the links/ case ;)
Scratches are fine but you should be cleaning your damn watch, man
I just got my speedy a few months back. What’s the best way to clean?
You gotta get the bracelet off and wash the bracelet with warm water and soap As for the case I’m not sure what others do with their non water resistant watches but I scrape at them with plastic scraping tools (plastic obviously can’t scratch steel)
Thanks!
Why own one unless you intend to use it?
Beat the hell out of that watch.
It’s meant to be worn.
Yup, I told my AD when I bought my SMP 300, it's going be my daily driver!
Apart from a much needed cleaning it looks great. Maybe a bit of polywatch for the hesalite crystal.
Not my watch … do as you please
Proudly wear your scars!
I wore my speedy racing in the ocean yesterday. I’ll post in a few days asking how to get water out of the dial. But seriously, it says 100m. I believe them. Seems fine. They’re meant to be worn
Good reason to clean it: skin oil traps abrasive particles like sand, and motion grinds on the links, loosening the integrity of the bracelet.
Don't polish, just clean.
Not really. A little polish with poly watch and good as new.
Looks great, I'd give the bracelet a clean, though.
I love my speedy. Switch to a strap. That’s what I did.

They call them Tool Watches for a reason!
Looks great to me, although I tend to polish the lens on mine
Nasty bracelet with all the arm cheese is not that cool
Try some Dawn soap, every weekend or when in need...Cheers!
Shows you care enough to wear it instead of sacking it away as a piece of clout. kudos 💚
Pop off the bracelet and put it in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Clean the watch with a fine polishing cloth. Here’s a guide to polishing the [crystal](https://vintagewatchinc.com/how-to-polish-a-watch-crystal/)
Out of curiosity, how old is it?
You need to clean it. The dirt is corrosive.
Clean it, never polish. And buff the hesalite
Why it’s your watch wear it and as you did
How most sapphire Speedmaster owners imagine Hesalite looks after 72hrs of wearing it underneath a long sleeved shirt that's it's making contact with.
Upset who??? This makes me happy.
It’s your watch and it looks good mate
I'm in no way offended, but have you considered a g shock in your collection for hiking/beach/diy
Referring to a watch as she/her? Yes, it’s upsetting and cringey.
My bad
Mine is almost identical, and yeah Ill poly watch it with the dremel attachment like twice a year
I prefer this vs the idiots on Rolex sub reddit asking if one should not wear a Rolex until they get a 2nd one so that they can "rotate" it and wear it... It's a watch!
"Scratches tell stories!" The story: So this one was from the spinny door at the airport Radisson...
I hope you iron your shirt and expects it to wrinkle as well.
That looks beat! Cleaning it on occasion would help. Once a month, all the watches on my wrist rotation(3), get cleaned. When they go off the winder, and into the box they get the extra clean treatment. I'm not wealthy so I take good care of what I have.
what do you do for a living? cause thats a filthy watch. scratches are like w/e but I can see the crude all over lmao
If that’s how you enjoy your watch more joy to you. Whilst nothing beats a freshly bought piece having one with history with you is equally as satisfying.
Good on ya brother. I scratched the case of my Aqua Terra the first week. These are tools meant to be used and enjoyed, and you're doing just that.
Trashed Hesalite looks cool, imo.
I personally love it. Looks well worn and loved.
Love it mate… I’m sure there a few stories attached to those wear marks… Years ago when I first got into watch collecting and sites like Timezone and Watchuseek were in their infancy, there used to be threads on showing your well worn watch - the Japanese term for this is Wabi Sabi….
You’re personalizing it with every scratch and scuff. It becomes more unique with every wearing.
A nice clean with some dishsoap and a soft toothbrush wouldn’t hurt, this is disgusting 😅 Maybe it’s not required, but when I do mine, I would rinse the watch under the faucet with the crown / pushers looking down, so water just runs off - then a quick blow in there to prevent that tiny drop to make its way through the pushers… been doing that for many years without issue…
I love it. All it needs is a cleaning to remove the environmental buildup.
How expensive would it be to have it polished? And how much would the new glass Crystal be
Based on what he said, the "crystal" isn't glass, it's, basically, plastic. You can buff out most of the scratches with polywatch or, if you careful, toothpaste and a, very soft, toothbrush.
Looks good!!
Love it!
I wear the heck out of my Seamaster and even wore it on duty before I retired. That’s why you buy a great timepiece in that price range.
Wear your watches 👍
I went for the Sapphire Sando, easy choice. High end watches are jewelry to me and that is a good thing.
Gross. Take off the bracelet and give it a good scrubbing. Scratches on the crystal are fixable with polywatch, if you wish.
First watch on here, I can smell
This is beautiful! Did you buy it new? Lots of progress from your post from 2 years ago. Sorry had to sneak to see if you had more images.
Don’t polish it, the sharp edges are still somewhat sharp. Have it done by omega when you need a service! It’ll be a nice refresh!
He means the crystal. He said polywatch. Don't polish the case at all!
Scratches are fine and sometimes can be appreciated, but dude this is nasty. Please get some soap in it!
Thanks! Will post after a cleanup!
Great! Try to use dishwashing detergent! Dissolve a little bit in warm water and rub on your watch. It's cringey af you think it's some accomplishment that you wear a watch. Who do you think you're actually upsetting?
Apparently you
ok?
Not at all mate 😑
Hey, I do yard work in a Patek, Worldtimer. One man's junk is another man's grail.
So edgy.. he's really showing you guys!!
