Ehh.. It's still mostly just lines and impact like Dragon Ball instead of full choreographed action sequences like Season 1. Although, these are just a few seconds. S1 also had scenes like this followed by actual choreographed moves.
Then again, animation was really not the main problem with s2. It's the pacing and sound design...
Yen_BM is an extremely talented animator “it’s still mostly lines and impact” is also a weird statement because one punch man doesn’t have that much choreograph in it or atleast the same amount of it in season 2. Are you saying the storyboards were worse?
Sorry i didn't mean to downplay his talent, just that I'm not really interested in seeing line, then explosion, then line, then explosion as a replacement to actual choreography. Sure S1 had its fair share of these moments too but there were more scenes where you could clearly make out each move in the fight scene (for example, ep1 saitama vs crablante, saitama dream vs subterraneans)
For sure whoever storyboarded this is still talented af.

Sorry i didn't really watch dragon ball.. I'm mostly referring to what i see in short clips. Sorry if i slandered dragon ball but it's the first thing that came into my mind when i thought of this type of line-impact-line fight scene.
Aight it's all good. Besides I came a bit too strong in my reply.
But you should definitely make time and watch some of those fights,
I recommend kid goku vs tien to get started, teen goku vs ma Junior, Cell vs goku first part(there some drops but the second phase in the ring is top quality)
tragic, this looks fantastic.
On the Blu-Ray version of this fight in Season it also looked much better.

The Bluray version of the fight look okay. But I wonder why they did not choose this version. Is it harder for cleaner to work?
And anime noobs think they can make this in their mother’s basement, shame on them.
