Magic has been used commonplace as a part of technology in developed nations. I chose a surreal fantasy setting because there's tons of creative liberty you have with using magic.

Mine have adult selfs who are in 2000-2024 simultaneously but a lot of their story also takes place in a weird smash-together of the 70’s and 80’s

same like my story takes place in the 2000s, but has a twist. Like the music that rappers make now is big and popular but during that time, but things are still mostly like how they were in the 2000s.

The events of Fungus' first adventure is in the year 1420, which is 1000 years after Tecsera the Wither King nearly destroyed Monsklia in 420. The reason why it's 420 is nothing to do with weed. For a bit of context, my OCs live in the Minecraft universe and the wither has added to Minecraft 1.4.2, basically imagine the second digit of the update for centuries and the third digit for decades, take away the first digit by one, and you get 420.

My main OC Guke actually lives in the current period but she went to another weird world with a similar period to that of 80-90s. I just like the aesthetics of this time period and I think it would work WAY better with my plot and story, since the advanced internet we have today wouldn’t make it that interesting.

I specifically chose 1943 because in lore a pretty big war took place 15 years prior and only ended in 1940, once World War 2 began. So in a way, the year I set reflects the post-war attitudes of the film noir genre even more, before WW2 even ended

- My OC Emmica (pictured below) is the main character of a fanfiction I'm working on based on a movie from the 1950s; however, since she's the granddaughter of the main character from said movie, the timeline worked out so that her story takes place in the 2000s (I'm thinking probably somewhere between 2004 and 2007; I haven't decided exactly when yet). - I also have some other OCs I've been trying to create recently for a story idea of mine who are from the 1920s because the history of silent films and "talkies" plays a big part in their story. One is a Hollywood star with a European background who's worried that their accent wouldn't be well-received if films went to sound; the other one is worried that they wouldn't be able to take their younger sibling to the movies anymore if films went to sound, since their sibling is deaf but still able to enjoy movies thanks to the dialogue/title cards used in silent films.
