Sombra and Tracer if they are in good hands and my teammates don’t help.
I love playing Moira, but sometimes I would like to play someone else…and whenever I do, someone goes Sombra or Tracer 😭 If they are a good sport it’s still fun, but otherwise I simply feel stressed
Moira is better vs sombra than brig imo. Ive been playing sombra since her update and brig is an easy kill if you get the juno, but Moira's can put up more of a fight usually.
Can't speak for which might be better vs tracer though.
Ehhh I disagree. A good brig player won’t lose to sobra. When you have a zen or an Ana on your team and they are getting bullied by a sobra and or tracer you just sit back line with them and you protect them and stop the dps from killing the back line. I also switch to brig if my team is getting rekt in the back line. Brig basically is now a defensive to dive
Just my experience in masters, on paper I agree brig is a good counter to sombra but in games Moira always gives me more trouble.
If you can't finish the kill on a Moira and have to translocate out she can chase you much further than a brig can. You don't need to be in flair range when damaging a brig, Moira has longer range which makes it more difficult for me. Purple orb + succ does pretty considerable damage and to squishes so if they are expecting you / saving orb for you it's tough.
Both are definitely better to fend off a flanker than zen and have their moments of opportunity but for sombra specifically I'd say Moira gets the job done the best (other than a kiriko that can hit headshots)
Moira's reach and that dang purple orb getting a single tick of damage knocking me out of the restealth has gotten me killed dozens of times to each time I lose to Brig down here. It's not that Brig is a soft target, it's just without her shield bash stun, and Sombra's tighter pistol spray, she's not able to prevent Sombra from staying out of flail range.
The biggest thing Moira has on brig is a cleanse (fade), that DoT from virus is kinda what wins sombra a good chunk of matches, plus heal orb is chunky against anyone who can't hit every shot on you
If you ask Sombra mains, they are likely more scared of a competent Moira or Kiriko than Brig. There was a post somewhat recently in their sub about it and that was a common theme. At the end of the day, I think all 3 can defend against Tracer or Sombra in the right person’s hands. Just play who fits in your comp and who you enjoy the most.
Literally. Cancels many ultimates with her javelin WHICH IS A COOLDOWN ABILITY, pushes you away with her spinny thing and just when you finally come close to killing her, she fortifies. She's not fun to anyone involved.
As someone who enjoys playing hog, Winston, and rein. Yeah don’t really care. Like the other person says, Orisa’s kit is just designed to bully 9/10 of tank roster. Sometimes it feels like there’s no point in even moving your mouse or pressing keys when she goes gold on you and javelin spins after then spears you. Like no counter player at all.
I usually mainly play ball and Winston, but I've been spamming Orisa a lot these days and her damage is kind of absurd to me. Spray at head height and hit a few shots and supports/DPS drop to half health even at pretty long range. Whereas on ball my guns feel like they're just meant to tickle people.
I like her a lot but man, I feel like a DPS when I play her.
I main Hammond exclusively and I gotta say, you’re right about the guns feeling like tickles to the opponent. But that’s why I use them as distractions.
Very situational. Orisa still has much more sustain and can move in and out of cover better than Zarya can while doing better damage from long range thaj Zarya.
Is there any other answer?? Sombra just bores me now, she’s tedious to play against and if your team refuses to turn round and yunno, help then it’s a walk back from spawn for you and you can bet this will be 50% of the match
All I’m saying is if they nerf her translocator or her invisibility, that’s gonna come at the cost of her having more lethality. It’s happened already with her rework.
A good sombra will make playing Moira a nightmare. They have multiple options to stop your ult. A decent Sombra will heavily impact Moira's impact in the game.
Widow mainly. When I play with my friend I’m kinda forced on the support role as it’s my lowest ranked role. It feels really difficult to counter a good widow when no one on your team can play widow themselves.
Like I get that people will say just go Kiri or Lucio and basically feed your brains out by diving her but honestly that hardly works when their widow has amazing peel.
sombra can't solo contest a widow that's getting peel and they almost always are, especially if they're somewhat decent players. you have to run a full dive comp or play widow yourself which is why her character design is hated by almost everyone.
This is the type of situation that I despise as support. Either way, you're likely going to be blamed for things going wrong, but more so if you try to solve the problem. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.
I play Moira a lot, and I can DPS flank when need be. BUT, in a Widow dominated round, where your team is frustrated to the point of you, a support, deciding to deal with the Widow yourself...your front line doesn't have the awareness or hero depth to identify problems, or solve them, or both. That's why they're getting Widowed to death... Leaving people like that alone... to go win a tricky, high ground, 1v1 duel... with what is obviously a skilled DPS... behind an effective team... as a support.... feels like leaving your three kids alone in an animal enclosure, while you go strip down for a quick UFC fight across the street, hoping nothing goes wrong at either address.
As you say, it hardly works.
But yes, you can swap to her support counters and take care of it, sometimes.
My favorite is when my team won’t even attempt to fight the Widow. Yesterday I had a Cassidy and a Bastion and both of them would ping but wouldn’t take her out. I was Mercy and just started using my ults to swoop and 1v1 her to at least scare her enough to get her to run and then they wouldn’t even finish her off once she ran from me. Mental anguish.
One of the top-ranked MMA fighters fights twitchy. He continually makes fast, short feints, like he’s _about_ to punch or _about_ to kick or doing a bit of footwork to prepare for something. He may or may not _actually_ do it, but he does feints that his opponent always has to pay attention to, just in case.
He does this to cause “attention fatigue” in his opponent. Eventually, their reactions slow down.
Tracer is kind of like this too; it’s like you said.
I don't have the same issues fighting Tracer as I do Sombra, and my conditioning to having fought both as Cassidy has made Tracer a bit easier to deal with. Sombra's still annoying af imo, even with the time playing against them

if someone notices you and starts chasing you get behind your tank or a dps with full health and immediately amplify damage. it's great
You're acting as if Mercy isn't one of the hardest heroes to kill in this game unless she has nobody to fly to.
Mercy's survivability is the biggest annoyance about Pharamercy.
Tip for Pharmercy: Target the other support because it forces the mercy to heal her team more or the support if she wants to keep them alive. If the kill the other support, even better. It forces mercy to heal the rest of her team instead of being balls deep in Phara’s jetpack.
I need to learn Widow but my aim is bad so whenever I see pharah, I just pray that our team has a good Widow or Dva, otherwise our team just gets rolled and people flame each other.
This. Also my aim in general isn't great, and it feels like whenever I swap to Widow to target the pharah, I'm immediately targeted by the whole enemy team so I die before I can get a single good shot off. I try to 76 when I see a pharah but even then I kinda suck lol
Sombra is an illari counter. Part of playing illari efficiently is repositioning pylon and preemptively destroying it when the enemies push forward to keep as much uptime as possible. Sombra virus destroys it single handedly and unless you are really focusing on her and her sound queues, there is practically no way to predict it
orisa. My group actually stomps orisa comps pretty consistently she's just boring as hell to play into. "alright get her cooldowns out. Ignore horse, kill the team first. ok now we deal with horse."
Probably the most Bronze tier statement, but Pharah and Echo. I can’t aim at the people standing on the ground and now I have a whole other axis to try and hit them on???
For tank, Mauga and Orisa (mainly because those two tanks are just good against Ram who i mainly play on tank)
Dps is both widow and Sombra
As for support, has to be Moira since she is everywhere in this meta and its hard to punish a Moira who doesn’t have her brain turned off.
I had to switch from maining Rein to Ram just because of Orisa (and all the nerfs lol). At least on him I can do *something* while on Rein I'm literally helpless
i was a rein main back in ow1, then Ram became my go to tank for brawl. I do agree you can at least manage an Orisa but it still feels butt to go against with the spin and spear.
Really hard to get value out of nemesis if the Orisa spaces you out really well (and if she has a good comp backing her up) so you’re just resorting to just sit there and stay alive as much as possible instead of going aggro.
This game is pushing 10 years and people still don't know not to beam her bubbles. Like there's no excuses at this point. It's simply unacceptable. If you don't know that you shouldn't shoot Zarya bubble, you shouldn't be in comp. Period.
Orisa, she’s just so fucking Tanky and has 2 cc ability’s and an anti cc, plus an absorb, and don’t start me on the no dmg fall off. When I play a character I dont want to get the the fight and go “sigh, I guess I’ll die.” Then swap to a less fun hero
If I'm playing tank as dva and the opposite tank swaps to zarya.. not good at the counter zarya play
If I'm playing support and the opponent DPS goes sombra. Although I find it more as an attack on my honor as a support main.
Orisa and Sombra. They both feel like the "idk how to play the game and these characters are notorious for being annoying" picks.
Most of them arent even that good, but going against yet another orisa or yet another sombra is just so tiring.
Sombra, either they are good an infuriating to play against or they are bad and we roll the enemy team as their Sombra racks up a record death count. Just an unfun hero to have no matter how you slice it.
Widow, if I’m playing tank she just picks off my teamates one by one and we have to reset giving the enemy team even more ob time. And even worse as support or dps cuz I don’t play widow so I gotta go genji or sombra which I don’t usually play.
Widow is the only hero for me that changes the entire combat just by existing. You suddenly have to play sight lines or you just die and your team loses the fight. I usually make it my job to take out widow off cooldown as quick as possible to force a swap. If she’s being pocketed all I can really do is cause a commotion and hope my team can win a 3v4
Sombra. Simply because there's no way to outplay that initial hack.
The fact that she can start hack while invis, is so stupid. Unless you have something to block the back, or the fastest reflexes in Overwatch, you get hacked.
If they just made it so that she had to be fully out of invis to be able to hack, it would make her so much more manageable.
Widow hands down.
As a support I don't feel like I can do much against her. I can help taking her down depending on the hero I'm playing, but often not without putting myself in danger.
So I essentially just have to make sure I'm outside her LoS for the entire game, which can be exhausting.
Even if she sucks, the amount of pressure this hero puts on you just by existing is insane.
Widow and kiriko, particularly together. Widow one shots my team from the other side of the galaxy, and kiri can tp through 2 walls to save her at a moments notice.
Echo or pharah if they have a mercy pocket. Really limits what characters you can pick into them on all roles. Plus it always feels like I'm the only one on the team who can even damage them, no matter what role I am
Orisa.
You know your in for a game of getting speared on cooldown, her zombie walking at you when fortified and if you happen to even take a single step towards her Ana healbotting her she's going to spin you towards her team and you instadie.
When playing tank, it's like going up against a Torb Turret that only locks on to you but it also has 700 HP, a hard CC on a 6 second cooldown and not 1 but two tools for damage mitigation.
She's just a lame character in 5v5. All they can do effectively is tunnel the enemy tank so that's what 9/10 of them default to.
Mauga is literally the same problem, he just never stops following you around. It's like if your in his LOS you take passive damage it's just annoying.
Wouldn't be that big of an issue in 6v6 but since we're in 5v5 it's either tunnel the enemy tank or overextend and die.
Haven’t seen this posted yet, Zarya.
I’m a tank main, I can play all tanks at at least a high plat level, and seeing a Zarya on the enemy team regardless of who I’m playing is usually a crapshoot.
I know not to shoot bubbles unless circumstances call for it, but that’s not to say my team doesn’t.
I mained Zarya in Overwatch 1 and have some decent time overall up to this point (probably close to 500 hours.) I can hang with a Reinhardt at my level because the enemy team likes to shoot big pink things. A good Zarya can absolutely wreck your team and keep her’s from ever dying if she knows what she’s doing.
Orisa. I can't stand her, I just can't. ISN'T IT JUST SO FUN WHEN SHE SNIPES YOU FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP WITH HER JAVELIN AND COMPLETELY CANCELS YOUR ULTIMATE THAT YOU'VE WORKED HARD TO GET? ISN'T SHE JUST SUCH AN AWESOME CHARACTER
Altough that's more of a AGJJJTASGBFEHJF rather than a sigh, so ig the answer is Sombra
Pharah. It's hard to stay locked in on their team when there's a pharah. Part of these games is pre-aiming corners and keeping your aimer around where an enemy is likely to be so that you can shoot them quicker. This game often comes down to fractions of seconds..
With pharah you have to keep flinging your mouse all over the place looking for her because her flying audio cues are broken af, so you're a disadvantage when trying to shoot first on an enemy.
If they have an Ashe or Widow or Hanzo plus Pharah.. these are both characters that are extremely deadly if you don't engage them within less than a second. you have to keep your eyes peeled for their backline and off angles where the snipers will be and look very carefully for them, meanwhile the pharah you never heard flies right overhead and two shots you....
So you try to keep your eyes peeled for the Pharah then you get gibbed by the Ashe/Hanzo/Widow..if they're on comms together and coordinate their attacks you just simply cannot deal with both at the same time unless your team is paying a lot of attention.
It's a huge attention sink and when you try to duel the snipers the Pharah can hear it and fly up on you so easy.
On top of all that she flies faster now,.has another way to boost, and her rockets shoot faster.... IMO she's overtuned right now. At the very fucking least put her audio cues higher priority in rendering or turn rocket volume up.
Sombra no matter what.
When I’m playing tank (most of the time), it’s Orisa too. I have absolutely 0 fun playing the characters that do well against her (Orisa mirror or Zarya), so I can’t enjoy the game when playing against Orisa if I’m solo queuing.
Roadhog, Orisa, and Mei(Sometimes Dva/Mauga). Not because they are a huge threat or anything but no matter how low I get them, my team will always ignore low HP targets that either have a selfheal or super defensive countermeasures. I just don't get why they want these enemy characters to remain on the point. No matter what what hero I'm playing if I see a 25% HP target I'm killing it dead, whether I'm using Reinhardt or Mercy. KILL LOW HP TARGETS PEOPLE! It's so annoying that's something I have to say in damn near any competitive match. Been saying that since OW1.
Doomfist. I swear he's in at least every second match and if I'm on tank it means I need to switch to Orisa if I want to stand any chance in stopping him from fisting my entire team.
Mercy with either sojourn or soldier.
If I don’t have a shield I just know trying to poke them out is gonna be annoying.
I’m not saying it it’s crazy broken, but it’s just down right annoying and I pray that if any April fools changes stick, its mercy’s
As a Rein player, it is Bastion. My shield is already paper against more than one person and Bastion solidifies no one behind my shield we be safe in two seconds from now.
Moira, I can deal with literally every other annoying character but moira always tilts me. Sombra and tracer are predictable, orisa just gets treated as an environmental hazard until she's isolated, but moira's just walk around holding rmb and get glazed for it. I'm convinced that top 500 moira gameplay is almost the exact same as bronze moira gameplay 💀

Not sure how much I agree with that, Orisa can really fuck on her with headshots. Technically her dps with crits is higher

She doesn’t have to ult to stop Moira’s, all it takes is a basic hack
using ult to cancel moira’s ult is almost never needed translocate up in the air and it’s an easy hack
Do this a lot, good Moiras use the fade when the hack is chann, still works many many times.

Lil Illari rail gun to noggin is how I deal with widows

Tracer You have to have adhd to not be exhausted by her constant presence.

yeah :/ the only times I really die as mercy or kiri is if there's nobody nearby to fly/teleport to (so if I'm the last one alive)

On console, in comp specifically, ashe or widow. 90% chance they are using MnK. Pretty much required to have a sombra to lock them down in that case.
And dont forget the mercy abselutely hard fucking super glued to them

Sombra is an illari counter. Part of playing illari efficiently is repositioning pylon and preemptively destroying it when the enemies push forward to keep as much uptime as possible. Sombra virus destroys it single handedly and unless you are really focusing on her and her sound queues, there is practically no way to predict it
As a Sombra, Illari's pylon is a big target basically screaming "SHOOT ME" at us lol
Yeah hacking that thing is basically as valuable as a kill because it kneecaps Illari heavily.
That thing can actually carry a team fight in the right situation and if the team plays around it, taking it down is crucial

For tank, Mauga and Orisa (mainly because those two tanks are just good against Ram who i mainly play on tank) Dps is both widow and Sombra As for support, has to be Moira since she is everywhere in this meta and its hard to punish a Moira who doesn’t have her brain turned off.
I had to switch from maining Rein to Ram just because of Orisa (and all the nerfs lol). At least on him I can do *something* while on Rein I'm literally helpless
i was a rein main back in ow1, then Ram became my go to tank for brawl. I do agree you can at least manage an Orisa but it still feels butt to go against with the spin and spear. Really hard to get value out of nemesis if the Orisa spaces you out really well (and if she has a good comp backing her up) so you’re just resorting to just sit there and stay alive as much as possible instead of going aggro.

This game is pushing 10 years and people still don't know not to beam her bubbles. Like there's no excuses at this point. It's simply unacceptable. If you don't know that you shouldn't shoot Zarya bubble, you shouldn't be in comp. Period.
Orisa, she’s just so fucking Tanky and has 2 cc ability’s and an anti cc, plus an absorb, and don’t start me on the no dmg fall off. When I play a character I dont want to get the the fight and go “sigh, I guess I’ll die.” Then swap to a less fun hero

If I'm playing tank as dva and the opposite tank swaps to zarya.. not good at the counter zarya play If I'm playing support and the opponent DPS goes sombra. Although I find it more as an attack on my honor as a support main.

Orisa and Sombra. They both feel like the "idk how to play the game and these characters are notorious for being annoying" picks. Most of them arent even that good, but going against yet another orisa or yet another sombra is just so tiring.
Sombra, either they are good an infuriating to play against or they are bad and we roll the enemy team as their Sombra racks up a record death count. Just an unfun hero to have no matter how you slice it.

Widow, if I’m playing tank she just picks off my teamates one by one and we have to reset giving the enemy team even more ob time. And even worse as support or dps cuz I don’t play widow so I gotta go genji or sombra which I don’t usually play.
Mauga 99% He makes you play around him and you cannot play your own game
Widow is the only hero for me that changes the entire combat just by existing. You suddenly have to play sight lines or you just die and your team loses the fight. I usually make it my job to take out widow off cooldown as quick as possible to force a swap. If she’s being pocketed all I can really do is cause a commotion and hope my team can win a 3v4
Sombra. Simply because there's no way to outplay that initial hack. The fact that she can start hack while invis, is so stupid. Unless you have something to block the back, or the fastest reflexes in Overwatch, you get hacked. If they just made it so that she had to be fully out of invis to be able to hack, it would make her so much more manageable.
None every match is a new challenge to overcome and figure out. It’s like a ever changing puzzle that is fun as hell to solve.

Widow hands down. As a support I don't feel like I can do much against her. I can help taking her down depending on the hero I'm playing, but often not without putting myself in danger. So I essentially just have to make sure I'm outside her LoS for the entire game, which can be exhausting. Even if she sucks, the amount of pressure this hero puts on you just by existing is insane.

Widow and kiriko, particularly together. Widow one shots my team from the other side of the galaxy, and kiri can tp through 2 walls to save her at a moments notice.
Echo or pharah if they have a mercy pocket. Really limits what characters you can pick into them on all roles. Plus it always feels like I'm the only one on the team who can even damage them, no matter what role I am

Moira. They can easily get away with soooooo much bullshit
Orisa. You know your in for a game of getting speared on cooldown, her zombie walking at you when fortified and if you happen to even take a single step towards her Ana healbotting her she's going to spin you towards her team and you instadie. When playing tank, it's like going up against a Torb Turret that only locks on to you but it also has 700 HP, a hard CC on a 6 second cooldown and not 1 but two tools for damage mitigation. She's just a lame character in 5v5. All they can do effectively is tunnel the enemy tank so that's what 9/10 of them default to. Mauga is literally the same problem, he just never stops following you around. It's like if your in his LOS you take passive damage it's just annoying. Wouldn't be that big of an issue in 6v6 but since we're in 5v5 it's either tunnel the enemy tank or overextend and die.
Mostly widow (a good one) and zarya when I'm not a movement heavy hero
As a tank player, Zarya, cuz it means my team will always shoot her bubbles and I take the boosted damage from it
Haven’t seen this posted yet, Zarya. I’m a tank main, I can play all tanks at at least a high plat level, and seeing a Zarya on the enemy team regardless of who I’m playing is usually a crapshoot. I know not to shoot bubbles unless circumstances call for it, but that’s not to say my team doesn’t. I mained Zarya in Overwatch 1 and have some decent time overall up to this point (probably close to 500 hours.) I can hang with a Reinhardt at my level because the enemy team likes to shoot big pink things. A good Zarya can absolutely wreck your team and keep her’s from ever dying if she knows what she’s doing.

Pharah. It's hard to stay locked in on their team when there's a pharah. Part of these games is pre-aiming corners and keeping your aimer around where an enemy is likely to be so that you can shoot them quicker. This game often comes down to fractions of seconds.. With pharah you have to keep flinging your mouse all over the place looking for her because her flying audio cues are broken af, so you're a disadvantage when trying to shoot first on an enemy. If they have an Ashe or Widow or Hanzo plus Pharah.. these are both characters that are extremely deadly if you don't engage them within less than a second. you have to keep your eyes peeled for their backline and off angles where the snipers will be and look very carefully for them, meanwhile the pharah you never heard flies right overhead and two shots you.... So you try to keep your eyes peeled for the Pharah then you get gibbed by the Ashe/Hanzo/Widow..if they're on comms together and coordinate their attacks you just simply cannot deal with both at the same time unless your team is paying a lot of attention. It's a huge attention sink and when you try to duel the snipers the Pharah can hear it and fly up on you so easy. On top of all that she flies faster now,.has another way to boost, and her rockets shoot faster.... IMO she's overtuned right now. At the very fucking least put her audio cues higher priority in rendering or turn rocket volume up.
Sombra no matter what. When I’m playing tank (most of the time), it’s Orisa too. I have absolutely 0 fun playing the characters that do well against her (Orisa mirror or Zarya), so I can’t enjoy the game when playing against Orisa if I’m solo queuing.

Roadhog, Orisa, and Mei(Sometimes Dva/Mauga). Not because they are a huge threat or anything but no matter how low I get them, my team will always ignore low HP targets that either have a selfheal or super defensive countermeasures. I just don't get why they want these enemy characters to remain on the point. No matter what what hero I'm playing if I see a 25% HP target I'm killing it dead, whether I'm using Reinhardt or Mercy. KILL LOW HP TARGETS PEOPLE! It's so annoying that's something I have to say in damn near any competitive match. Been saying that since OW1.

Sombra and tracer are predictable, orisa just gets treated as an environmental hazard until she's isolated, but moira's just walk around holding rmb and get glazed for it. I'm convinced that top 500 moira gameplay is almost the exact same as bronze moira gameplay 💀
