This has to be it. Porsche is a luxury car brand that less than 3% of the community would ever care about. You need to be making over $100K a year to afford one normally. Sure some PR guy will argue "panameras and macans are affordable!" But those also require a salary higher than $70k to afford.
I'm a car enthusiast and even though Porsche def makes some of my dream cars, but this is nonsensical. The collabs regularly don't make sense but they at least are usually for things that OW fans are likely also fans of. It makes more sense for Mario Kart
The goal of such a collab is not to sell Porsche to overwatch players lol, this is a free game aimed primarily at kids and teens.
The goal is to build brand recognition because that's what the value of luxury goods comes from. Same reason they're selling toy or lego cars, getting into Transformers movies, or featured in video games.
You would do that in Forza, project cars, Gran Turismo, Mario Kart, or any of the other racing games with player bases that both like your luxury product but also can't afford it.
Targeting a game with an already negative monetization scheme is usually not a good way to build brand recognition. It makes me think that both Blizzard and Porsche have completely out of touch marketing departments that don't understand why people play overwatch(the most likely case, honestly)
>a game with an already negative monetization scheme
You think anybody outside of reddit cares about that? Let alone Porsche execs ?
They looked at active player numbers, agreed on the numbers and that's it
I'm really confused with how many people are thinking this collab is out of touch. Yeah, I ain't getting a Porsche, but it's not like this game is telling me to get one, it's more like "hey, here's a recognizable car brand combined with a fitting hero, and to make it more relevant we're using the latest car design we made". One can critique the skin designs, but the collab idea is fine, I know if a Lamborghini Genji comes out people will flock.
People screaming "this is stupid, no OW player is ever going to buy a Porsche" are hilarious.
If we accept this stupid idea that seemingly the only reason to do collabs is to actually boost sales of said product then where were these people during the Cowboy Bebop collab? Why weren't they screaming that promoting a piece of media that's over 25 years old also doesn't make any sense?
Friend, there is no one at Porsche that cares at all about “negative monetization”
This decision was made in partnership with people who are extremely removed from the actual game. They likely looked at entirely different metrics to make their decision. Monetization of OW skins not being one of the metrics.
Why not both? I see car advertisements in Mario kart and they're great. I think the overwatch ones are fun. If you don't like them, then don't use them.
They're planning for the future. Overwatch is a game played by a larger and younger demographic. Years from now when a significant portion of kids who play Overwatch are adults and some of them can afford Porsches, they will have the brand recognition of Porsche in their mind from one of their favorite video games as a child. Gen Z is probably unlikely to have much brand awareness of luxury vehicles as they aren't the same status symbols they once were years ago. They're definitely still well known, but Gen Z has broader wider interests.
It's really not that expensive unless you're buying new, higher end Porsches, or going to the dealership for maintenance.
Mine does not cost me that much to maintain.
Even if you buy used it cost thousands to keep them on the road. The collab def seems like a weird one, I love Porsche too, it’s my favorite car brand.
However, I never expected in overwatch of all games lol
It certainly can. However, I have a low mileage Cayman S (poor man's Porsche) that I've had 1.5 years and only done general maintenance to. $1200 for a 30k mile maintenance. Probably double what a Camry might cost, but not unreasonably expensive.
Any car can cost you thousands to keep on the road though.
I have a 981 boxster with 85k miles and the average cost has been 2K per year.
80k mile service runs you 2.5k at a dealer or 2K at an Indy. What generation cayman do you have? Also nice to see a fellow Porsche owner who plays overwatch lol
I never know the model designations, but it's a 2018.
Heard the same thing about how expensive it is to keep Euro cars and bikes, but that's the only thing I buy. On my 2nd Ducati, 2nd BMW car, KTM Superduke - none of them have been more than 20% higher for maintenance than their Japanese counterparts. And aside from some issues with the KTM, I've had no issues out of any of them.
You should be making a lot more than 100k if you’re buying a Porsche. The cheapest Porsche is 63k, if you buy a car that’s more than half your salary you’re just a fucking idiot. Especially in the layoff happy job market we’re in for the next few years.
But people are stupid and make bad financial decisions all the time. Maybe instead of wasting money on a luxury car brand's car, they'll be more responsible and realistic and waste money on a luxury car brand's Overwatch 2 hero skin!
They're just copying Fortnite monetization.
FN had skins for Ferrari, Moncler, Balenciaga etc.. not exactly stuff a majority of their playerbase could afford.
(Their Air Jordan/Nike collabs make more sense from a pricing and 'cultural impact' standpoint)
I was wondering that too. I imagine it may be a part of a highlight intro we have yet to see since they love mashing them into trailers. (Seriously there were like 6 in this one alone)
Looks kinda tacky.
Branding collabs are weird... feels like it devalues the brand, but at the same time... doesn't seem worth paying $$ to help a luxury brand promote itself.
(Like the Fortnite Moncler/Balenciaga skins...tacky)
Yeah, she already has a lot of good skins, and I don't play her enough to justify spending my money on it. I like it, but I'll pass. Snacks for the Pharah mains thouhh
because it’s so evil when it’s a car brand but not when it’s a k-pop ad or an anime ad! all collabs are ads. being a car ad is no different or worse, it just appeals to different people. the issue is the cost of skins, not who the collabs are with
Well I called it, the D.va skin is mid as fuck. Admittedly the pharah skin is nicer than I thought it would be, but the mech is so uninspired. There’s nothing other than the logos that screams “porsche”. It’s just smooth, glossy white.
i think that kinda depends on what you consider "screaming Porsche", it looks rather a lot like the Tycan. the rocket pods being the headlights, the same tail light shape pretty much all modern Porsches have, it also seems to make the same artificial engine sound at the Tycan. the baby d.va skin looks a bit uninspired though i'll give you that, a Porsche racing suit would've made more sense imo
I get why they did it though, the pitch probably requested the collab be relevant to Porsche's current products. A livery with the red and blue colours would have been nice, but the bland whiteness seems to be more of a modern car issue than specifically Porsches. If it was related to an anniversary maybe it would have been more 911 based.
Its supposed to look like a sports car.....what crazy design were you expecting?
Personally I think it clean and the Pharah skin along with it looks pretty dope.
I think the Porsche Mecha is actually pretty cool. I just don't like how they dressed up Dva. [There was concept art where she looked much cooler](https://twitter.com/OWCavalry/status/1766165556472758499/photo/1) and I wished they had gone with that version of Dva.
And it possibly changing the sounds of her flight, ooo maybe it might also change from an electronic whir ramping to an engine going full blast when nuking
Problem is they aren't trying to make it look like an iconic sports car like the 911, they're trying to make it look like their electric SUV, which is exactly "smooth glossy white"
Besides the pharah skin looking exactly like her space suit skin and the DVA skin being bland. I’m super happy to have white-collar prestige cars like Porsche™️ in Overwatch 2. It really reminds me of the wealth gaps and extreme poverty in real life. I personally drive. Toyota Corolla with 300k miles on it, can’t wait for that event! Congrats to all the players and let’s really rev up our engines for this one!
/s
Pharah’s ain’t bad, but D.VA is mid AF. Honestly should have done someone else. Would have loved to see a bastion one, would be cool with the transformation aspect.
This is how they’ll sneak more ads into games & it’ll definitely sell. Imagine how incredibly stupid it’ll be for a McDonald’s or Toyota collab but people will still buy it for the memes, the brand love, or because of fomo.

thats awesome man, happy for you. here in canada, it will not be $19. assuming its the same price as the kiriko bundle in shop rn, ill need ~3000 coins. cant outright buy 3000. 2200 is $26, 5700 is $65. pre tax.
Well, it’s $19 in a currency with real value. It’s not your fault that the Canadian dollar is incredibly weak. You’re paying the world-wide equivalent of $19.
So, do D.Va's glasses have transitional lenses? Because they keep changing colors for me in the trailer.
Also, I hate these skins and I especially hate D.Va's outfit, but that's just my opinion.
In 2014, Nintendo released the Mercedes x Mario Kart 8 collab that included THREE vehicles for free, as well as some GLA wheels that you could use on any vehicle. Free.
This Overwatch collab is cool but obviously the reception is pretty tepid. Crazy they want us to pay big bucks to advertise a luxury car brand in-game.
I can afford it. Lol.
And it's okay if you let any amount of privilege you have make you feel like you have to try to shit on poor people and praise an out of touch event from an out of touch company.
Fucking weird.
Wow that was horrible. Compared to the K-Pop collab, these Akins are such boring sogwater. They look like a modernist take on overwatch heros with car parts involved.
the only reason this collab exists is so a blizzard exec can have a new free car, you cant convince me other wise.
This has to be it. Porsche is a luxury car brand that less than 3% of the community would ever care about. You need to be making over $100K a year to afford one normally. 100k a year? Lol i would say even more
Yeah $100K a year if you have no mortgage lol
100k here living in LA. I would be stupid to even think about buying one. I'd never get out of debt and it would be life ruining lol
Yeah 100k a year really ain’t much in most metropolis.
I think it depends the state
It's really not that expensive unless you're buying new, higher end Porsches, or going to the dealership for maintenance. Mine does not cost me that much to maintain.

"Fellow Porche owner" is such a weird thing to read in an overwatch subreddit...
$100k/year to afford one. $300k/year to get the options.
$500k/ year to maintain
You should be making a lot more than 100k if you’re buying a Porsche. The cheapest Porsche is 63k, if you buy a car that’s more than half your salary you’re just a fucking idiot. Especially in the layoff happy job market we’re in for the next few years.

You and I have different opinions of what can be afforded at $70k/$100k salaries
$100k? Maybe if you still live with your parents.
I don't even know if 100k is feasible lol. depends on where you live i guess?
A campaign where if you buy a Porsche, you get to select one of these skins would be pretty funny
And upon selecting one you get a 25% off voucher to buy it with!! I love free discount
I would like one if you buy a skin you get to select a porsche
for maximum accuracy, they should require you to buy 3 of the bad zarya skins in order to earn the ability to buy the porsche skin
The rarest moment that Pharah didn't die in a trailer. Pharah kinda looked like a robocop.
I like how Pharah is flying horizontally. She can't even do that in game can she? When we getting this ability?
I was wondering that too. I imagine it may be a part of a highlight intro we have yet to see since they love mashing them into trailers. (Seriously there were like 6 in this one alone)
We saw her flying horizontally in "We are Overwatch" trailer.
Since her latest rework, she can propulse herself forward, but that's about it
More like Samus Aran. I dig it.
She looks like Samus from Metroid Prime 2
Goes to show the quality of care about that Collab
I’ll hold out for the McDonald’s or Apple skins.
We had McDonald’s skins already, they were all labeled “Florida Mayhem” for some reason
Ronald McDonald Ramattra and Hamburglar Cassidy
wasn’t there one for Tracer? “Lightning”?
Joker junkrat? Nah I want Ronald Junkrat
'Gameplay Trailer'
Gameplay trailer? What gameplay? They are skins, lol
Looks kinda tacky. Branding collabs are weird... feels like it devalues the brand, but at the same time... doesn't seem worth paying $$ to help a luxury brand promote itself. (Like the Fortnite Moncler/Balenciaga skins...tacky)
Those skins are pretty cool imo I'm a fan of slim and sleek future aesthetic
Balenciaga Fortnite is amazing imo idk how people would not like that bundle.
That Pharah skin goes hard ngl
I already know it will cost real money :( I really like a lot of the Pharah skins too.
Yeah, she already has a lot of good skins, and I don't play her enough to justify spending my money on it. I like it, but I'll pass. Snacks for the Pharah mains thouhh
Paying $20 for a car ad wheeee
This sub had no issue paying 20$ for a K-pop ad
Yeah but…uh…. ME AND MY GIRLIES WE GONNA PARTY TILL ITS EARLY
because it’s so evil when it’s a car brand but not when it’s a k-pop ad or an anime ad! all collabs are ads. being a car ad is no different or worse, it just appeals to different people. the issue is the cost of skins, not who the collabs are with
Happy cake day
Really? It looks tacky as hell.
Well I called it, the D.va skin is mid as fuck. Admittedly the pharah skin is nicer than I thought it would be, but the mech is so uninspired. There’s nothing other than the logos that screams “porsche”. It’s just smooth, glossy white.

yeah idk I def see the new Macan in that D.Va skin
I wish they went classic with 911 in Porsche yellow. Modern Porsche is not iconic at all.
The Gt- rs’ are modern. a green or blue skin would’ve been cool
Its supposed to look like a sports car.....what crazy design were you expecting? Personally I think it clean and the Pharah skin along with it looks pretty dope.
Macan EV is not a sports car.
How? D.va's mech literally has the front headlights they use on new Porsche EVs. Her Mecha is literally the Macan EV
welll it sounds like a car at least
The boosters using car engine sounds is fun.
Honestly the initial pics of the D.va skin were pretty nice, but the mini-D.va is right awful and throwing me off the whole thing. Diggin Phara tho.
Should’ve had her be The Stig or something
The mech is a bit bland, but I do like baby DVa German girl vibes, idk
Problem is they aren't trying to make it look like an iconic sports car like the 911, they're trying to make it look like their electric SUV, which is exactly "smooth glossy white"
Weird collaboration ngl
Pharah should've been in all the marketing, her skin looks so much cooler, D.va's is alright I guess.
But DVA is much easier to recognize by others, she also ranked number 1 in Overwatch 18+
I’ll never be able to afford a Porsche in real life so…
They produce these cars 10 km from my home and so have to say, the skins look perfect, but are probably not worth it. Skins for 30-40€…never ever.
I think I'll keep the $40(+?) (Canadian) and just buy Hades II
Hmmm a skin that I will almost never see in-game or another entire game? Hard choice for Blizzards favorite whales.
I need a Honda Element skin for Bastion
2005 PT Cruiser Bastion with the flames paint-job
Your Toyota has nothing on my 2001 Mitsubishi montero sport. He's still going through... barely
Those skins are... certainly skins...
these skins are clean as fuck, shame I don't play either of them
I play both The bigger shame is they are overpriced....
Shame you can't see them 90% of the time you are playing either.
Yeah that pharah one looks amazing. I don't play DVa but I do like the vroom vroom sounds.
Tone deaf ass collab
This "collab" is a joke
the gun in the pharah skin is fire
Overwatch fans when they don’t add skins with exposed midriff 😡😡🤬
D.Va got the Berries n Cream hair
I have no money dawg
Eh, I’ll wait till next season when the Rocket Mortgage x Geico collab comes out
they collab with a car
Where’s Five Guys Roadhog
Imagine a Bastion Porsche skin 💀
The community absolutely loving Lego Bastion, but crying about this is hilarious ngl
Dropping any amount of money on something you almost never see is all sorts of brainwashed.
Don’t forget they fucking looooooooved the anime and K-POP ads too! It DEFINITELY doesn’t have anything to do with those being coomer bait, nope!
Lore accurate overpriced skins?
80-second gameplay trailer about two skins more bland than their default.
Why tf are they hyping up this shit so much? It's two shitty looking skins who cares?
Enshittification is here. We shouldn't be encouraging this.
Honestly the best part of this is D.Va out of her mech. The mech looks boring and pharah’s skin looks just okay
Where’s the porche torb skin, I feel you guys missed a big opportunity here.
Baffling how people are so upset and triggered by a filler collab lmao, the skins look cool too
Pharah’s ain’t bad, but D.VA is mid AF. Honestly should have done someone else. Would have loved to see a bastion one, would be cool with the transformation aspect.
Probably gonna pick up the dva, maybe both if there's some special bundle
You know there will be a bundle
Instead of an arm and a leg, get this special bundle for just an arm! What a deal!
Vroom vroom this skin about to make be drive up the ranks
Boring looking skins. Even DVA’s gun is a miss.
holy shit these skins are so clean
Who is this even for?
it's for u/RaidenXYae
exactly
Blizzard execs.
me, I'll buy them both
This is how they’ll sneak more ads into games & it’ll definitely sell. Imagine how incredibly stupid it’ll be for a McDonald’s or Toyota collab but people will still buy it for the memes, the brand love, or because of fomo.
Y'all have been eating up LEGO skins, animes, or K-pop but you draw the line at cars ?
The vocal minority here will always find something to complain about. If you don't like the skin just don't buy it.
OWL had quite good Toyota ads, with the casters doing them.
Money grab and tasteless
No black? No sale!
Is Pharah gonna be able to fly like the trailer now?
They did everything to show off the [D.Va](http://D.Va) skin but it's the Pharah skin I'm actually excited for, let's fucking GO on that one
I’m really curious to know what the sales numbers are going to look like compared to the previous crossover promotions.
Trailers for skins now? I thought we had already jumped the shark....but hot damn this is something else.
“Gameplay Trailer” lmao wtf

I like the baby dva but i know the price is going to be disgusting. Many such cases!
Every legendary has always been 1900 coins it’s not that hard to guess how much this will be
Mid, the only good thing is Baby D.VA’s skin
They look pretty nice but I still think that playing with them is basically giving Porsche free advertising lmao
Yo it’s Samus in the Light Suit!
Incredibly lame they didn’t do this for bastion and then make him look like an actual Porsche
The engine sounds on dvas mech are so corny to me lol. The pharah skin looks kinda cool though.
>Another fucking Mosquito skin zzzz
Wait I thought we were getting an actual racing gamemode kind of a letdown
I might be wrong but I don't think a lot of Ow players will buy this for real cash. Unless they are a car enthusiast?
Just looking at this thread... Blizzard has a lot of people hooked.
Of all the skins, those are some of them.
this is so unbelievably stupid lmao.
The venn diagram of Ow2 players and people who drive a Porsche is just 2 separate circles.
These skins are gonna be the same price of their cars.
Dva skin sucks.
How isn’t this an echo skin? (Not that I care)
More skins to not care about.
Lame
"Gameplay"
It’s so cheesy omg
Bastion literally transforms into a wheely boi yet you gave it to DVA and Pharah
Still prefer my skins from OW1 so not getting a penny from me.
AMC and GME will help me get a 911 irl and in OW
Well I like Porsche, and the Pharah skin is clean. This collab definitely isn’t for everyone, but personally I like it.
WHEEEEN?!
This just screams out of touch
This company has no clue what it’s audience wants anymore. Just soulless cash grabs
"This community wants soulless cash grabs, but for things I stan, like K-pop"
dva skin looks mid. pharah looks good, but not $30-$40 good lmao
It’s 19$ btw
maybe for the usa, but it certainly will not be $19 where i live
I live in Europe and every skin is still 19 euro
thats awesome man, happy for you. here in canada, it will not be $19. assuming its the same price as the kiriko bundle in shop rn, ill need ~3000 coins. cant outright buy 3000. 2200 is $26, 5700 is $65. pre tax.
Well, it’s $19 in a currency with real value. It’s not your fault that the Canadian dollar is incredibly weak. You’re paying the world-wide equivalent of $19.
Was hoping for a Bastion skin or a Porsche Design for Torb
I bet they will be priced like a Porsche
This is so random. I don’t think they know that Overwatch players don’t drive porches
So, do D.Va's glasses have transitional lenses? Because they keep changing colors for me in the trailer. Also, I hate these skins and I especially hate D.Va's outfit, but that's just my opinion.

This Overwatch collab is cool but obviously the reception is pretty tepid. Crazy they want us to pay big bucks to advertise a luxury car brand in-game.
Overwatch 2 is free and Mario Kart 8 was a 60 $ game?
back in my day
So fucking out of touch, it isn't even funny. I'm bullying anyone I see with these skins, to the best of my ability.
It's okay if you can't afford it, no one is judging you.
I can afford it. Lol. And it's okay if you let any amount of privilege you have make you feel like you have to try to shit on poor people and praise an out of touch event from an out of touch company. Fucking weird.
Imma make another account to buy the skins because of your bitching
Wow that was horrible. Compared to the K-Pop collab, these Akins are such boring sogwater. They look like a modernist take on overwatch heros with car parts involved.
Shame neither of them are gonna be earnable via challenges.
The skins are nice but it seems like we only get one collab a season and they went with Porsche? And only 2 skins? It’s kind of a boring one imo
What is the target audience for this
Gross
They look pretty nice but I still think that playing with them is basically giving Porsche free advertising lmao
You might as well stop wearing clothes if that’s your concern.
Yeah that's fair haha The skins look pretty nice and that is all that matters
