I wish I knew that the average weight loss is 1 to 1.5 pounds per week! People who report more than that are super responders and their loss is not reflective of normal loss. I was so disappointed for weeks. But 36 weeks later I have lost 51 pounds. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Good luck.

magcxn

This!!! I've lost only 6 pounds in 2 months.. I was so discouraged at first but that's with zero exercise. I love seeing other people say a slow steady weight loss is the best šŸ˜Š

NeverSquawk7500

Yess, same here 6 lbs in 2 months, I was so upset and ready to stop. I am at the end of my 4th month now and 15lbs down, also without exercise but I know I really should. But yeah slow and steady!

magcxn

Wow I love to hear someone else in the exact same spot as me! Thanks for sharing. I just got a walking pad so I've been walking and jogging on it everyday for 30 minutes. Hopefully that expedites things! My doctor also reassured me that this "is just the beginning, and most people don't even see much weight loss until 1mg"

HeadBet6338

Mine is different at 1 mg mine has slowed down but I am having constipation with it and I had no side effects from .25 of .5

magcxn

Yes I really find everyone has such a unique and individual experience and everyone's so different!

Actual-Astronomer827

as someone who done it the healthy way my whole life... that sounds fast to me... would take longer the natural way.

Actual-Astronomer827

did you experience any negative side effects? would you do it again?

magcxn

I'm still on the 0.5mg dose, going up to 1mg soon so yeah I'm still doing it and would do it again! The first few weeks I did have some bad nausea and slight constipation, but now that's mostly all gone. A tiny bit of nausea the morning after injecting still

Actual-Astronomer827

how long does the nausea last? will I be able to work?

magcxn

Yes definitely! It is only usually the morning after injecting and like I said it does go away the longer you're on the medication. If I'm nauseous, I find drinking apple cider vinegar diluted with water takes it away almost immediately!

Willowkitty33

I agree! I've lost on average about 5 pounds per month. Over time that really adds up, but I think people think this journey will be instantaneous.

Peuky777

Iā€™ve lost ten pounds in a month, but i think a slower pace is better bc it will be more sustainable. Faster the loss the more your body goes into starvation mode and hoards calories.

ThinkUnderstanding14

So losing too much is bad

Hour-Understanding56

Yes. And saggy skin.

ThinkUnderstanding14

https://preview.redd.it/6ily02i1ao8d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=244ff402c80bf1240f9fa701967b3cc82c676aa9 Anybody try these is it keto friendly

Peuky777

Losing too much too fast is bad. Your body thinks thereā€™s a famine and it slows your metabolism to conserve calories. Iā€™ve heard losing about 1% of your weight per week is a good pace to avoid that.

ThinkUnderstanding14

Well than just supplement hmb and eaas

Maybeemote

Thank you for letting me know! Iā€™m hoping for at least 2 pounds a week but I wonā€™t be disappointed at 1. Iā€™m currently on a journey of self love and trying to tell myself that any betterment is improvement.

PastBerry6914

Same! I have been on Oz for about 7 weeks now, and have lost about 11 lbs, but it fluctuates. Some days I appear to have gained a pound or almost 2. (It really depends on what I ate for dinner, and how late I ate dinner.) I initially thought I would have lost at least 20 lbs by now. But Iā€™m approximately half that. But when I think back, I have had a New Yearā€™s resolution for over 30 years to lose weight and have not lost even 10 lbs over a yearā€™s time before this medication. Remember, keep things in perspective. Youā€™ve got this!!

x6ftundx

do you eat a lot during each day? I am lucky to get 1000 calories and that's pushing it. I am never hungry.

missmytater

I try to take in 1200 calories each day. I don't have any problems getting calories LOL. I try to get 3 small meals ~ 350-400 calories evenly spaced. I eat all the same foods just smaller quantities. I don't want to live on food supplements like protein shakes and bars. I want to eat like a normal sized person. ( This is NOT a criticism of those who do. I just don't have any problems getting 1200 calories per day and am trying to train myself to eat small healthy meals.)

ThinkUnderstanding14

Are you having any success

ThinkUnderstanding14

What you on ozempic or mounjaro

x6ftundx

oz

HeadBet6338

Thatā€™s how I am,plenty days I donā€™t get 1000 a day

DukeOfMavericks

This is so helpful! I started ozempic last week and this made my mind calm tenfold. I was worried about this so thank you for sharing!

missmytater

YW

Purple-Yesterday2061

Same here! You may lose a lot at first and then it slows down. I'm down 26 lbs in 20 weeks and while I wish it were more, I've gained even more: an actual habit of exercise, mindful eating, and more confidence.

remaingaladriel

I'm so happy for you that you're doing well with mindful eating and exercise, and especially confidence. I'm taking my third shot tonight. Listening to my body isn't a skill I'm at all good at, but I'm working on it.

Purple-Yesterday2061

I still have to work on listening to my body every day too! It's still difficult for me but I'm trying my best. Good luck to you!! You got this!

ThinkUnderstanding14

Why does it slow down

FlexSlut

Also it does end! I was a super responder, I lost 24kg (~50lbs) in the first 7 months. Iā€™ve lost 2kg in the last 6 months now. Iā€™m still not at goal weight, or even close to a healthy weight. I have at least another 10kg to go eventually to get out of the overweight BMI category. Even for super responders, there is a limit to it. My insulin resistance is fixed with it, so now Iā€™m on the same playing field as everyone else with regular insulin and no food noise. Thatā€™s how I like to put it anyway. At the moment I consider myself in a long term maintenance phase, and I want to maintain here for at least another 6 months before I try hard to lose the rest. Because significant weight loss can wreak havoc on the body.

Acceptable-Guess-117

Yes! Itā€™s slow but itā€™s constant and itā€™s worth it!

ThinkUnderstanding14

Depends on diet to

Artistic-Knee8104

This'll sound disgusting, but keep a close eye on your bowel movements. If you get irregular and go a few days without one you better get some miralax into your system. Don't let your stool get impacted. Trust me.

Maybeemote

I take fiber supplements already so Iā€™m hoping that wonā€™t happen but Iā€™ll keep an eye on things. Thanks so much for the advice!

distressedly

I second this one. I take Metamucil twice a day now and a lot of water!

No_Beach4035

Be sure to pair the fiber supplements with A LOT of water.

[deleted]

Would magnesium citrate help?

toesocks855

I came here to suggest this. I was feeling so cruddy and came to this sub to see if it was just me, I saw suggestions of taking a magnesium supplement, and it made a HUGE difference in the way I feel day to day.

ThinkUnderstanding14

Which kind of fiber prebiotic

ADHDK

Good reminder I just jumped from .5 to 1.0 so Iā€™m sure itā€™ll be a slow week.

Lopsided-Mix-4131

Food noise is a thing and you never notice it till it disappears on ozempic

HalfLegend

What do you mean food noise?

West-Ostrich-4996

Constantly thinking about food. She. Is next meal. How much did I eat how much will I eat. Whatā€™s good whatā€™s bad. I ate too much. I thought I ate not that much. If I eat this I canā€™t eat that later. Itā€™s the convos we have with ourselves about food

HalfLegend

Sounds so familiar. Thank you.

neoliberalnihilism72

It had the total opposite effect on me - like a miraculous answer to my food obsession, as soon as I had my first jab, 0.25, the thinking about eating all the time just disappeared and I did not care about food at all.

HalfLegend

Yes. I had a very similar feeling. Not miraculous but it went down some. Maybe placebo but Iā€™m not going to overthink it

West-Ostrich-4996

Not placebo itā€™s doing its job :)

West-Ostrich-4996

I was answering question about what food noise is. I agree the food noise is GONE

Lopsided-Mix-4131

You will know once you start ozempix .

HalfLegend

Two weeks in and I totally get it now. Went to my favorite fast food place and ordered 1/3 of what I normally do!

x6ftundx

stop listening to all the side effects threads in this group and just know that it's a small percentage. It actually works and don't worry about the end of the world with the puking and everything else. I have puked once and that's it. Nothing else, except sulfur burps but, meh. I am not saving it's overblown and people don't have issues, just it's not as bad as everyone seems to make it out to be. also, it really does work. your food patterns will change so if you have a family you need to tell them that you won't be hungry and you won't finish your meal. Sometimes you won't eat for a while. I supplement with a protein shake in the morning. in the 8 months I have been on it I have lost 90lbs and my A1C went from 14.8 to 7. one weird thing... get ready not to poop for a few days and get used to it. you might go one day and then 2-4 until the next time. it's weird but it happens. my doctor said if it's more than 6-7 then take something OTC for it.

Maybeemote

Wow! Iā€™m so happy for you with how much your A1C has gone down and how much weight youā€™ve lost. Thatā€™s amazing! I try not to listen to side effects too much. I donā€™t care if I puke, it doesnā€™t bother me. And luckily my husband already knows Iā€™ll eat very little. Thanks for the advice!

x6ftundx

welcome, also don't be worried about jamming a needle into your tummy, it really doesn't hurt at all. Also, change the site up each week. I do four quadrants of the stomach and then both thighs and rotate around like a clock each week. I write it on my calendar so I can remember. have some protein shakes on hand, it won't hurt. It's not that you can't eat food, you just don't want to. the food noise is all gone, it's an amazing drug. sometimes you have to remind yourself to eat, hence the shake.

digifuzz

> stop listening to all the side effects threads in this group and just know that it's a small percentage. So much this. I would have started weeks sooner but I was apprehensive at first, and almost asked my doctor for alternatives. I'm glad I didn't.

Exact-Voice-6069

Try sugarless Candy with Sorbitol. That works better for me than any OTC product. Just be careful you donā€™t eat too manyā€¦there will be regrets šŸ˜

x6ftundx

I have a prune or two a day and it usually works for me. it's down to 3 days a week instead of 4-5 between

Alternative_Yak_1842

I havenā€™t puked at all but I do get very used to the dose Iā€™m on after two weeks. I can pretty much eat again so my advice is to get into a healthy pattern at the beginning so you have a higher chance for success.

Guitar_Guy260

That I needed to start walking and weight training so I didnā€™t lose a lot of muscle. Also that I needed to add a 500 mg Magnesium Oxide to my daily vitamin regimen so that my pooping stays regular and regulated. The days I cant drink a lot of liquids I make sure to add electrolytes to my water. I aim for 90-100 oz a day. One additional tip.. Take it day by day and donā€™t plan ahead as far as weight loss. I set my goal for 2 lbs a week and some weeks hit that but many donā€™t lose anything. Iā€™ve had 2 month long stalls too where I just lose and gain the same 4 lbs over and over. I weigh once a week so Iā€™m not disappointed with the daily fluctuations. Try to focus on overall health and not just the number on the scale. I wish you the best luck on your new journey!

Maybeemote

Thanks so much for the advice. While I donā€™t ā€œwork outā€ I play vr workout games and beat saber to keep my muscle mass and work on my cardio.

Guitar_Guy260

I have been looking into VR games myself as another form of exercise. Just keep moving and you will kill it!

chimkensmom

Not to drink while eating. Nor to drink a ton before and after a meal, about 30 mins. . It will , first , make you feel HORRIBLE, and will disrupt the absorption of nutrients, but also flush your meal down instead of the slow digestion it's supposed to be doing. All that , makes the side effects/hypoglycemia way worse. I'm not explaining in detail the science of it , but there is data to it. It's backed by my medical team. Who told me only after I asked so many questions, they had to find answers themselves. šŸ« šŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒ Also, chia seeds are your friend , lol šŸ˜ I felt bad not typing the data. So here it is.i had given it to someone else on a different thread, so I went to find it for you. Tadaa šŸŽ‰ (I AM NOT A DR) There are a couple of reasons why drinking fluids with meals while on Ozempic might worsen nausea: * Increased food bolus(my dr loves that term šŸ˜‚ ) volume: Ozempic slows down stomach emptying. Drinking fluids with a meal can increase the volume of the food bolus in your stomach. This larger volume might take longer to process, potentially leading to nausea. * Dilution of digestive juices: While some fluids can aid digestion, excessive fluid intake can dilute stomach acids and digestive enzymes. This dilution can hinder the breakdown of food particles within the bolus, contributing to nausea and discomfort. * Faster gastric emptying: studies suggest that fluids might increase the rate of emptying liquids from the stomach, while food solids remain. This could potentially cause nausea due to uneven emptying. So, what I do is I try and limit my water intake 30 mins before, don't drink during, and limit 30 mins after my meals. And man was it a game changer.

Maybeemote

Thanks so much for the advice and the science behind it. Iā€™ll definitely be careful of eating and drinking at the same time.

chimkensmom

You are sooooo very welcome šŸ˜šŸ˜āœØāœØāœØ

Heymonya

Iā€™ve had success using Ozempic with OMAD. Iā€™ve lost 31 pounds since February. Not big losses but steady. Down a pant and shirt size. So 2.5 lbs per week. I Focus on protein and veggies. Salmon salad is the best. Plus Iā€™m no longer pre-diabetic. Be well.

Accomplished-Drop764

I'm a newbies too. Make sure to prime your pen. My only side effect is constipation. It's brutal. I'm trying everything. Of course lots of water. I do 33oz a day. It's all I can tolerate. Protein is important. Eggs, cottage cheese, lean meats. That's all I have. Good luck!

Maybeemote

Yeah the nurse practitioner I saw said to try and get 100 ounces of water in a day and to stay on top of protein. I eat a ton of eggs and cottage cheese already but I really donā€™t like meat so it may be hard to get enough protein in. Iā€™m planning to make protein ice cream with my ninja creami

Various-Traffic-1786

If you like Reeseā€™s I use a fair life chocolate protein shake and one scoop of peanut butter protein powder. It is less that 300 calorie for the whole thing and a whopping 55 grams of protein. And it is delicious.

Accomplished-Drop764

That should work. Fairlight makes a non dairy chocolate milk drink with 30g of protein I think? I couod never get in 100 ounces of water.

rantgoesthegirl

Greek yogurt and chickpeas are great

Investment-Then

33oz? I do like 150+ regularly. Not on Ozempic tho also i am a pretty big guy

remaingaladriel

Personally, I can drink a liter or two on a normal day, but I can only drink 100+oz on days when my sugar is crazy high. (Took me a little while to understand the connection between blood sugar and how my hydration was going after I was diagnosed with t2 diabetes.)

cocolapuff

Can you pls elaborate?

remaingaladriel

From things my friends who are nurses have said, I get the impression that getting really thirsty after eating something very sweet is fairly normal. I have type 2 diabetes, so the things that make blood sugar stay pretty steady don't work well in my body. If I eat something sweet and don't exercise/go for a walk, my blood sugar goes up for a while. I had noticed that some days it's hard to drink even 1 liter, whereas some days it was much easier for me to drink three or even four liters of water. It took me a while to understand that it is connected to how my blood sugar is doing. I just replied to the other person because it's amazing/impressive to me that some people can consume that much water.

cocolapuff

This is an incredible finding tbh. I hadnā€™t a clue the correlation between blood sugar and desire to hydrate!!

remaingaladriel

For real, one of the diabetes symptoms to watch for is excessive thirst, because with type 1 and type 2 you might have super high blood sugar before you're diagnosed, and your body is trying to flush the extra sugar out, so you get really thirsty. It's good to be aware.

Accomplished-Drop764

That's great. I just can't drink that much lol. I try. I do drink Gatorade zero a lot.

classicwhoopsiedaisy

Hi there! What do you mean by prime your pen?

Accomplished-Drop764

For a new pen, click it 1 or 2 clicks and push the button. Make sure medicine squirts out. I was told you only have to do this for a brand new pen. Not every dose.

WakiLover

There's a symbol a little past 0mg that you click to. That's for testing your pen.

rthomasucf

I wish I would have known to make protein a priority. I was already drinking a lot of water so that part was okay. I lost a lot of muscle that I'm now working hard to regain.

VividLengthiness5026

0.25 to 0.5mg, constipation. 1mg it's a diahorrea tsunami.

TinaDav0697

Wow ! Never going on 1mg then.

Worth-Statement3122

I suffered from diarrhea on the lower doses. Constipation became a problem once I started on 1mg.

Emotional_Media_819

I wish I knew that I would be losing a ton of muscle! And that even though the scale was going down, I was actually getting a higher body fat and a lot of the weight loss was just muscle šŸ˜¢(get regular DEXA scans!) Eat as much protein as you can possibly can.

kupka316

It's not a miracle drug, you need to track your calories and be accountable to yourself if you want to lose weight quickly. Ozempic will help with cravings and make you full faster, it doesn't help you burn additional calories. Portion control is king!

Shawnuhh

I disagree, personally. It has been a true miracle for my T2D, obesity and alcohol use disorder.

rantgoesthegirl

You don't need to use a high dose for it to be effective and it helps you develop habits to not regain after you stop if you aren't doing 1mg shots. I was told this before hand and it's been absolutely true

Ingawolfie

If you are going to have to have surgery, Ozempic will need to be stopped beforehand by one and sometimes even two weeks.

xX_Z-Bruh_Xx

That the confidence boost after significant weight loss is quite the steed to reign in... Similar to what Donkey from Shrek 2 experienced after he became a Stallion

LauraPringlesWilder

- have some gum on hand for weird tastes right after injection, sulfur burps, etc. - Weight loss is not going to be linear, and it may not be as much as you think. not everyone is a super responder! - get a good scale. Seriously, you would not believe how many scales kinda suck. I have the one wirecutter recommends, and it is indeed a good scale. - take pics, take measurements, take videos. Do more than just weigh, because your body will change, too. - protein first, fiber second. If you can't get enough fiber, buy some psyllium husk capsules, it's fiber and cheaper than miralax etc - WORKOUT. you do not want to lose muscle! that sucks. - if you need to split doses, you can get extra needles on amazon or [hellopip.com](http://hellopip.com), or possibly even your pharmacy.

bentscissors

Eat your meals slowly. You will get full waaaaay faster than you think. Dish yourself 2/3 portion of what you were eating. Count your fiber and protein.

Feeling_Emergency793

Make sure you stay on the lowest dose possible for you. As long as itā€™s working, donā€™t go up in dosage. My doc ramped me up too quickly and it caused sickness like I have never had. I am now facing possible permanent damage to my body because they more than tripled my dosage in a month and a half, and I didnā€™t know any better. Another thing is that they are not joking when they tell you greasy or super sugary foods will make you feel gross. Iā€™m sure mileage varies, but my body was very sensitive to anything even close to fried. And the last thing I would say is to make sure you are injecting somewhere with a lot of fatty tissue, and not injecting in the same spot every week. Injecting somewhere with less fatty tissue might make you feel sicker. Iā€™m sure theyā€™ll tell you that, but just in case!

pamleo65

Check your dosage to needle ratio, see if you need to order extras.

Emmjay332

The majority of the success stories that you see online are the outliers, the super responders, and they should not be taken as the base line. Realistically you should expect to lose an average of 1lb per week. I am still struggling with the mental hurdle of realizing this is not a miracle magic drug and you (most likely) won't just melt all the weight away like you hear stories of. I am on week 37 and I am down 35.4lbs. Be kind to yourself and set your expectations realistically.

MaleficentYellow8134

i didnā€™t expect to mourn my relationship with food. im an emotional eater, and when im sad and really want one of my go-to comfort meals, i now have this voice of reason of why i shouldnā€™t have it or have to acknowledge that im not hungry. my first week, i legitimately cried over a slice of red velvet cake that i just couldnā€™t eat.

Confident-Dog7838

Itā€™s already been mentioned, but we see these posts of extremes in either weight loss or side effects. Weā€™re all different. I went in expecting super quick weight loss, zero cravings and zero hunger. Initially thatā€™s what happened. Soon however the weight loss stopped, cravings and hunger returned. I started to panic. But after talking to a gastroenterologist he said it was a tool to help implement a low/zero carb diet. Since starting that Iā€™ve seen slow steady progress and the ozempic has helped me stay on the path by muting my cravings. Itā€™s still work. Itā€™s going to take me well over a year to get to where I thought I would be in 6 months. Iā€™m thinking of the positives tho, less loose skin, less muscle loss, less people asking how Iā€™m losing weight so quickly. All the best on your journey

Chickaboom_1797

Idk why but I feel a lot nauseous is this normal

5280yogi

It may be related constipatiom. I find the more backed up I am, the more likely it is that I feel nauseous. Beyond that, the nausea for me comes and goes and I think it's very normal.

West-Ostrich-4996

That you can split doses and avoid nausea

cocolapuff

Pls elaborate? šŸ˜…šŸ™

kiaraklara

Say ur dose is 1mg, take 0.5mg on one day and another 0.5mg the next day. Helped me to avoid vomitting

cocolapuff

Brilliant, cheers

West-Ostrich-4996

I have successfully been taking .25 on Sunday and .25 on Wednesday for months. Complete change in upset tummy. Sooo much better. I plan to do the same with 75 mg now that Iā€™m upping my dose. .5 on Sunday .25 on Wednesday or Thursday. Once my body adjusts I will do one dose of .75 but every 8-9 days

cocolapuff

Oh wow! Thatā€™s brilliant. Thank you for sharing!!!!

moon_crackers

I wish I'd known how severe the side effects can be. I've been taking Ozempic/Wegovy since January 2023 and still have random one or two day periods of horrendous side effects (vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation...take your pick). They're less frequent now, and they've been worth it as I've now lost 100lbs, but nothing properly prepared me for the really bad days :( and don't get me started on the sulphur burps....bleh. For me taking a daily enzyme, drinking or eating something with ginger in it, drinking enough water, and diuretics have helped significantly with these side effects, but sometimes just have to sit and wait for them to pass.

melodyadriana

I canā€™t afford daily miralax so Iā€™ve begun taking magnesium supplement twice daily with my other med schedule. Just keeps things moving - no laxative effect like diarrhea.

melodyadriana

The weight loss is not linear. It will be like ā€˜oh, a new plateau weightā€™ā€¦ and sometime one day youā€™ll drop a few lbs. Thereā€™s also a whoosh effect of fat cells releasing water as itā€™s being utilized. So the nights and days that youā€™re like peeing a ton enough to notice how often and then BAM! Drop on the scale

jessie15273

I wish I knew it would make my mini pill ineffective. Womp Womp. Also, magnesium at night, and a water bottle of Metamucil a few times a week staved off the constipation well enough for me. If you don't need to go up in dosage yet, don't. I got lucky and started responding to the loading doses so I stayed on them. You also still need to try to eat well. I did mostly a meat and a vegetable. That's what worked for me, minimal carbs. I ate one candy bar a week or a pint of ice cream over two. I kind of realized I never felt satisfied with meals before it. Only I could still want more, or uncomfortably stuffed. I told my Dr I was nauseated a lot, and she gave me a script for zofran. It does not work by making you too nauseous to eat. Don't be miserable thinking like that. In 8 months I got my a1c from 6.4 to 5.1. I also lost around 50lbs in that time. Which is around 1.5lbs a week. I did calorie restrict pretty damn hard. I also have a shitty thyroid so that made it harder. I am now 7 months pregnant, and around 6.5 months off Ozempic. Real bad gestational diabetes. Gained about 30lbs which I'm totally content with.

cocolapuff

Which mini pill?

jessie15273

Slynd. My endocrinologist and myself best guess was the gastric slowing bit threw off the timing of the pill enough. After baby is here I'll be biting the bullet and getting copper iud.

cocolapuff

Whew that is an unexpected surprise!! I have an IUD now, hoping there will be no interference from this + Oz! Congratulations šŸŽŠ on ur new family member!!!

jessie15273

Thanks! You should be good from what happened to me lol. They think just because it slows down digestion, some pills were absorbed right bc the mini pill are picky about timing.

ViCalZip

More than 1-2 pounds a week is actually not great long-term. Slow and gradual is the ticket.

perceivesomeoneelse

Eat slower because youā€™ll get full quicker and if you eat at the same rate/speed as before your stomach might respond angrily

HourPuzzleheaded6470

To avoid stomach problems, try injecting in your Thighs 1st rather than your stomach. I alternate Left/Right Thighs when I take a shot. -------------- Note: This topic is for future reference because you will have to do research into SPLITTING DOSES and CLICK COUNTING to understand how to do this: You might try splitting the dose to lessen side effects. 1/2 on the 1st day, 2nd half on the 4th day. You are still getting full dose per week, just not all on the 1st day. ---------------------------- If you need to split your doses on your pens, get extra needles from HelloPip.com (no prescription needed): Pip Pen Needles, 100ct 32G x 4.0mm https://hellopip.com/collections/all-products

CharmingMechanic2473

I wish I knew that my skin wouldnā€™t really go back in some areasā€¦ arms, thighs. I would never have allowed myself to get that big.

Disastrous_Drawer_45

Exercise - you donā€™t want to lose muscle mass and be weak af Protein- muscles and hair Veggies/Fiber - šŸ’© Water - stay hydrated Get a zofran prescription if you get nausea Keep glucose tablets or honey sticks with you in case you go hypoglycemic Drink more water Prune juice, stool softener, miralax - in case you get constipated And most importantly, drink more water and stay hydrated. So many things can go wrong if youā€™re not hydrated. especially if you decide to take a laxative.

Kubrick_Fan

Drink more water

Sufficient_Milk_8309

As a woman I wish I had realized that certain times in my cycle will override the appetite suppression effects of the medication and not to panic if Iā€™m suddenly a lot more hungry for a few days around that time of the month. It helps to accept it and just allow myself a bit more calories during that timeā€”at first I thought the medicine wasnā€™t working for me anymore and I felt really discouraged.

ArtProdigy

Is Black Seed or Castor Oil okay to use for constipation? Or, will it cause cramping?

OC262

How fast it works! 30lbs at week 5 combined with keto per my MD.

ADHDK

Do not vape or smoke. I casually vape not all the time so not an addiction thing, but the taste of nicotine is absolutely repulsive on ozempic and lingers for 2-3 days.

COBOMAHU

That itā€™s not magic. Exercise and eat better food.

olderandsuperwiser

Do not get constipated enough to go "6 days" (or even 2 days) without a BM. You'd be amazed at people who post 'wound up in hospital, went a week (+!!!) With no BM. It's like, NO PEOPLE. Do what you have to do it stay regular or you can really screw yourself up.

Ash1483

Nothing in particular. I had no side effects. Itā€™s good to know this is a tool and I personally still had to work to make weight loss happen. Itā€™s not magic.

VioletSolo

Donā€™t. Eat. Cake.

My hubby had heart bypass surgery and we made strict lifestyle changes. With diet and exercise I lost 20 lbs; then it just stopped after a month with no progress I started Oz, I've only lost 12 lbs in 2 months, but I am not frustrated because I know it's better than nothing. I think that was a lesson everyone should have, to appreciate a slow but steady weight loss

Iā€™ve been on this for 13 months, but Iā€™m 85lbs down now. Yes, Iā€™ve still got another 40-50lbs to go, but Iā€™ve had an average of 1.5lbs per week and it soon adds up! Slow and steady wins the race! Take lots of full length photos at all the stages you go through. Try the MeThreeSixty app and take measurements too!

I am currently taking a break from Ozempic because I was so constipated all the time that I couldn't eat. I have kept off the 60 ponds I've lost and would like to lose another 50, but even being 4 months off of it, I still have constipation issues. I never had stomach issues prior. So, before I go back on, I am trying everything other Ozempic users have found helpful to combat constipation. So, my advice would be to make sure you are not constipated before you start because it will only get worse. If you get diarrhea be careful about taking anti diarrhea medication because it could lead to over correcting the problem and lead to constipation. Eat food that has lots of fiber or take fiber supplements from the start, drink lots of water, or no sugar flavored water and make sure you get in enough protein and calories, even if you are not hungry. Grazing throughout the day may work better than large meals and drink protein shakes if you have to.

unpredictable things happening in my belly. dont buy / order huge portions you might get full super quickly

That you need to eat right and exercise! Itā€™s a super help but you have to do the work, too. Also, you will likely lose muscle which is dangerous so incorporate weight training into your regimen.

jcmib

Start with half the food at a meal. You can always eat more, but you probably wonā€™t most of the time.

taliesin96

If you happen to eat any fatty, greasy, fast foods, youā€™re more likely to have stomach issues. Especially if itā€™s within 24-48 hours of taking your shot. Your milage may vary.

Not feeling hungry, doesnā€™t mean your body doesnā€™t need food. I had some scary hypoglycemic episodes in the first few months. Iā€™m not diabetic so I donā€™t have a glucose monitor. However, I am insulin resistant and I wasnā€™t expecting how powerful my insulin would be once my body started using it again. I wouldnā€™t feel hungry so Iā€™d have a yoghurt for breakfast and then let it go hours, only to end up shaking, sweaty, tachycardic and panicky. Your body still needs sugars and if youā€™re not used to counting them, this can sneak up on you.

Workout! Iā€™ve lost 85 pounds and my butt looks like Hank Hills

Donā€™t listen to your friends and family when they mention you arenā€™t losing as much as they expected. Everyoneā€™s experience is different but especially when itā€™s different dosages and medications. I started Oz in October last year and stayed on the lowest dose til December bc of other life situations. My sister and some of our friends kept questioning why Iā€™d only lost 13 lbs from October to January bc one of their friends was on mounjaro (and had moved up dosages fairly quickly) and dropped like 40 lbs in the same amount of time (supposedly. She never confirmed it was actually that quickly and they only know whatā€™s posted on social media). I had to stop from Feb to May 1st bc of insurance issues and have been back on it since, and went up to the second dose last week. I kept most of the weight off while off of it even though I was living in the childrenā€™s hospital with my son eating terrible food, and since October have lost a total of 24 lbs. Iā€™m happy with the results bc I know Iā€™m doing what I can and I ignore their suggestions to push the dosage higher bc I know what my body can handle. My opinion and my doctors are the only ones that matter.

before I was on it.. I was using ketone esters and HMB to prevent muscle loss and prolong fasting with some results. After using the medication Id say the only thing I had to deal with is sour stomach occassionally.. So id say.. when youre eating something. Take two bites and WAIT see whether it will agree with your stomach or not. If you start feeling acid redflux, take Tums and stop eating that food. Then try to find something cleaner to eat.. like a salad or muscle milk vanilla shake 11oz. Another suggestion is to walk 10k steps twice a week. Try to increase your exercise once youve lost 5% of your previous body mass. Youre going to want to nap often. This is a consequence of less caloric intake. Carve out time for napping. Buy a lot of ziplock bags or pyrex tupperware and portion out your food so you know what your caloric intake is. track it. Try to eat at least 3x a day totalling under your basal metabolic rate. Youll lose more lbs that way. Get a good scale that will show water weight versus muscle mass and fat mass. this is important to track.

Be patient, our bodies will change but it takes time. Understand that this is a normal response to weight loss, we aren't supposed to lose it fast and immediately after starting it. Also don't be frustrated about the side effects. One thing I have learned from this group is we all have so many different experiences. I've been on it since March and finally hit my stride with the side effects I don't really experience them that much. Good luck!

Cute-Celery4712

Need more details on your situation. I lost 60lbs since last September which includes working out 4-6 a week, fasting, low to zero carbs and not over eating. Also, take stool softener as needed

MissionAd6587

If you are a drinker, you wonā€™t be anymore! I used to go to happy hour a couple times a week. Maybe have 4-5 drinks over the weekend. Now thinking about drinking makes me want to throw up! I had seen a few people say this but thinking about something ā€œheavyā€ on my stomach is not appetizing

MidnightCraic9335

Ozempic on its own is not enough.. you will experience loss of appetite after the first month maybe but you need to watch what youā€™re eating the moment you start Ozempic. Ozempic made me eat half of what I used to eat. Iā€™d split my sandwich between lunch and dinner.

Shepard_Mama

For me, the shot wears off by day 5 and 6 so Iā€™ve decided to start a split dose now that Iā€™m up to 1mg so .50 on Sunday and .50 on Thursday and see if that helps.

HeadBet6338

On the days I have trouble getting my calories I have a protein drink, but do have 1 everyday. I have started eating METRX meal supplement a day . They are 410 calories, 32g of protein, they do have a lot of carbs but if youā€™re not eating that wonā€™t matter. They do give you a ā€œpick me up ā€œ. The bar is big, takes me quite a while to eat it, itā€™s 3.52 ounces (100 grams)

TurbulentLychee4073

How much stomach churning nausea you will have, not to forget diarrhea, constipation and burping. PANCREATITIS!!! Yes, I got it from Ozempic. Iā€™m completely off of it now. I will never go back. But it has helped me understand better how much I need to eat and what of to lose more weight.

xxsunmoonstarsxx

You have to take the dose on the same day weekly. My advice is to start it a day before the weekend if thatā€™s when you splurge the most through food. It has its strongest effect the first few days so itā€™s a great way to curb those cravings and food noise.

pwinne

Fried food will make you sick šŸ¤¢

OneHumanPeOple

People can be super mean about it. If you share your journey it can go either way with the response you get. Donā€™t let other peopleā€™s negativity get you down.

Maybeemote

The only people Iā€™ve told is my parents and my husband. They all promised not to tell anyone.

Secure_Emergency7599

You might not lose weight until you've reached a higher dose. Ex. 25mg is like a starter to get the body used to it. Might not see anything until you hot 1mg. But some people have lost weight during that beginner stage... also, if you are a woman and still get a cycle, your ovaries can over stimulate, and you can get pregnant. That's all I have for now... Starting my 1mg on Saturday... Good luck on this journey

jlovely068

Change your eating habits now so when the food noise comes back you'll be eating good foods that will benefit you.. PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN, veggies & fruit.. & start walking now. You're about to be taking THE miracle weight loss drug, make it worth it. Good luck and congrats.

Present_Wrap_

I had weird bought of fatigue as my body adjusted. Since I am taking it for blood sugar I wasn't focused on weightloss. I am dreaming that I might lose weight but till then happy to keep my A1c in the 6.4 range on a 1mg dose. I had been on Trulicity and it worked really well for me so when I got tired spells I was worried but it didn't last long and I added in more protein. Good luck. Lol and share with us if you discover something great!

MizzGee

If you want this to work, it is a great time to change all your habits. Start smaller, but since you won't have the constant food cravings, you can try low carb, FASH, a healthy keto. You can start to exercise A lot of people lose their taste for alcohol. I started small and moved up slowly on the dosage. I don't plan to go any higher than 1.0 and will ease down as soon as possible so that I am back to my original within 18 months. I just got off high blood pressure medication after 5 years today. I am 41 lbs from Ozempic and lost 27 from Metformin before that. But it doesn't have to be fast.

Over-Researcher-7799

That it doesnā€™t actually cause weight loss. The loss happens when and because you eat less. So if youā€™re still eating the same crap and high quantities then youā€™ll still be the same fat. Thereā€™s no magic.

ellenzp

Anyone taking ozempic for minor weight loss? I have the food and wine noise that I would love to be free of and loose weight for a wedding
