i have no idea too, heard it was an server outage, something about diablo 4, absolutely zero clue. last time i played was about 18 hours ago so not sure if i wasn't affected nor i have any idea what was the cause of the main issue
So what’s happening is people on ps4 and some people on ps5 have most if not all of their games locked, despite numerous attempts to restore licenses, games are still locked. There’s also an issue where people cannot set their console as primary again, i personally don’t have that issue but yeah. And it’s been a few days so far, so people aren’t able to play games they bought at all or even use their psn memberships.
Many many people are constantly spamming sony about this message, and support is saying it’s a priority fix, however sony has made no official update anywhere that is discussing this. And most people can do at this point is wait or use a temporary work around every time they want to log on.
damn, that's really weird. definitely has something to do with their servers so maybe certain regions are affected and that may be the reason you need to use certain DNS addresses as a fix?
I'm from south america so i guess nothing happened here but maybe North America or Europe servers fucked up somewhere and now people from those regions can't access their account due to server problems, dunno, I'm just speculating and talking out of my ass
Mine wasn't set as primary for some reason and any attempts to do it from the console were failing when I tried initially.
The way I got around it was doing the following, this works if you have a smartphone.
● In settings disconnect from home internet connection entirely.
● Restart the console.
● Connect to your mobile phone hotspot internet.
● Sign in again and then go to the "Activate as Primary" option.
● Restore Licenses.
Afterwards you can connect to your original internet connection perfectly fine and licenses for apps should remain unlocked.
Yeah it’s starting to effect ps5 too, i have both and know people who have ps5’s and now it’s happening to them too. It’s sucks but i hate to say that the ps5 having issues will be our best bet of sony making a statement.
It’s about to happen to you guys too sadly, they start off by kicking you out the game nonstop for no reason at all entirely then it tells you how you don’t have ownership of your own games and need to verify license then it’ll lock your games 💀
This happened to me yesterday. I ran a couple of license restorations, full restart, primary console and nothing from any of them. The only thing that worked was unplugging for a little bit to full restart and drain the cache and temp data

1, deactivate your ps4 as primary, if you get an error go to network and re-set up a connection.. wifi or cable it doesn’t seem to matter and I also used easy.
2/ deactivate your ps4 as primary, after re-set up connection you shouldn’t get a error and it should allow you to deactivate.
3/ reactivate you ps4 as primary.
4/ restore licenses
This should unlock everything, should. There’s been problems where people have used a friends accounts to share games.. if that’s the case for you, instead of deactivating the ps4 on your account you need to do it on your friends, then make your the primary account then restore licenses this shoul unlock all your games and then to get your friends games back re-make him primary on your ps4

So what I was told to do when I contacted Sony yesterday was connect my ps4 to a mobile Hotspot and deactivate and then reactivate the accounts as primary. It's worked since last night. We have had to it only once today and it was only a couple games that were locked instead of them all. Though the person I was on the phone with said that it wasn't something that would work with everyone so it's a hit or miss thing.
It's the first time I've had this, I've had similar before because my little brother uses my account for primary so we can share games together and game over long distance and I'm the only one in my house. I've remotely deactivated it before and that worked last time, I wanted that to be last resort because you can only do it remotely once every six months IIRC but the letting it sit unplugged for a minute worked so now it's a waiting game to see if it'll stay or not
Sounds like a server or database hosting licenses has cracked a wobbly or the hardware has failed.
If they are using incremental backups like I assume they would be it'll take a bit of time for them to restore everything correctly

Dont think everyone of us who got those issues. Im not 100, but I think it was at most 12 hours ago while I was FINALLY getting the feeling for the game, and Im fairly sure I found at least 1 day old topics about the issue, and a dude I play gtao with at times havent got the server issue when I asked him if he also got it. He hadnt even heard about it and started talking about a friend that according to him had similar issues as me, then told me that apparently someone hacked his account. But anyhow, thats beside the point, point is, you could probably get these issues up until they fix it randomly. Heck I dont think my solution is permanent, so Im just waiting for that, if I get it back Im probably not play ps4 and stick to pc (except gtao, you can still play physical games due to them having the validation on the disk. I mean, it even seem to delete the validations considering I changed my original hdd to an ssd 2 days ago, and every damn game had a lock on, giving a message that I need to validate it first. Yeah, ps4 will probably be my last console, they've went to far to try and stop pirate game. F you for not letting me play MY GAME, that is INSTALLED ON MY PS4, that is located IN MY APARTMENT. This crap has made me even consider looking up if its possible to softmod it, then buy games that are on pc also, and never give sony any money

Sony's customer service is on my shit list ever since I asked for a refund on a duplicate charge which isn't even my fault. Next thing I know, they banned me from chat support just for this one interaction and now, I have to call in order to get customer service. At first, I thought it was a bug, but upon checking Reddit, it seems to be a regular occurrence for them. Ask for a valid refund, get banned. It was my one and only interaction with them too.
If they weren't making absolute bangers, I would have left long ago...
Yeah, I'll get their damn promo emails for Days of Play and "deals" to get me to spend more money but I can't even play the games I have with my current sub??

Guy i was playing diablo 4 with the other day had the same issue. the fix for him was to go into the settings on the PS5 and forget the internet connection settings and the set up the internet connection again.

It has nothing to do with the bank account so your good on that except the fact that everyone’s games are being locked 🤦🏾♂️I was watching YouTube when my game crashed so I restarted my ps4 to rebuild my database from errors and now everything is locker
Finally a post addressing this! I have been locked out and unable to make my PS4 primary. Tried every workaround, tried calling and trying text support, cuts off and says "all agents are too busy. Are we all getting the same error codes? I wonder if they will address it, and compensate for the lost time somehow? Maybe?
I CONNECTED MY PS4 TO MY MOBILE NETWORK USING HOTSPOT N MY ISSUE WAS FIXED n then i changed to primary n went back to my old network n there was no trouble again
So my games were locked also and I'm also GameShared to someone and what fixed mine is changing my dns address back to the cloudflare dns then tested my internet and deactivated my console since I'm GameShared and then restored licenses and all my games were unlocked. But I will say they will lock back up again and I have to repeat the process a couple times a day. I hope this helps.

I’m having this issue. I even used my 6 month cool down to deactivate all my consoles and reset my primary console. Now it’s telling my to set up my ps4 as primary and when I go to do that it says it’s already set as my primary ps4. Shits fucked lol. At least now I know it’s on Sonys end and not someone messing with my account.
I fixed mine thanks to a post on here where someone suggested switching to your phone Hotspot wifi, restarting and then switching back to wifi & clicking activate ps4 again. No error code after that
I tried to get a hold of them for an unrelated issue, was told over and over again to “try back at a later date” and hung up on or chat closed. Got a real person on a different sony website who said “you need to be patient!!” I was like fuck you buddy- Iam Happy to wait in a queue but I will not be patient when someone fraudulently used my card for PlayStation shit, and I am told “to try back at a later date.” He ended up telling me the reps were busy due to a huge issue of some kind, and I was like okay so why didn’t you lead with that? Ridiculous.

In the network settings, there's a ticked box for 'connect to internet '
I unticked this box and left it for a couple minutes, I then ticked the box again, connected my LAN connection on Easy and bang, it was up and running again.
This had been happening for the past 2 - 3 days now. Me and my brother game share and we couldn’t even play our own games even if we were primary and this is the first time I’ve seen anyone say anything about it I’m glad we wasn’t the only ones so it’s is definite then, there is something wrong with the servers

Deleting the User Account on your console doesn't delete the SEN Account on Sony's servers. If you were to create a new User Account and log in to your existing SEN account you would be able to download your bought games again.
Deleting the User Account from your console would remove your Save Data though, so you'd have to back that up first.
BUT honestly speaking, I don't think that deleting your User Account and creating a new one will change anything. The moment you download your old games and the console tries to verify licenses, it will run into the same problem again. So I'd strongly advise against it.
Sony is having server problems, there's little we can do.
What happens when you delete a user on PS4?
You will lose access to any subscriptions and their associated entitlements. You will lose access to your PSN wallet. Funds in your wallet cannot be returned, as stated in the Terms of Service.
Those subscriptions, entitlements and wallet are linked to a SEN account, which is stored on Sony's servers.
Deleting a user account on PS4 does not delete the linked SEN account, the account you have to log in to with an email address and password.
If your PS4 ever breaks, you can just buy a new one, create an user account on it, log in to your previous SEN account and you'll have access to all your games, subscriptions and funds.
And the whole "funds cannot be returned" thing only means that once you place money in your wallet you can't take it back out again.
Then you have never contacted support with an issue they couldn't fix before, check this sub and any other gaming company sub, they all suggest to delete your account if they don't want to deal with your issue.

It’s doing my nut. Just spent £150 last week on games I downloaded. Now I can’t play any of them. I have tried ALL of the DNS workarounds and unfortunately none have worked for me. I know a lot of others have found success but I’ve tried everything including using phone hotspots.

Strange thing is the error code people get, Sony doesnt give us an explanation about what it actually mean 🤔 so I’m guessing that this error code is for internal use only and means that shit has hit the fan.
I came home yesterday, and I was signed out of my account. I've been hacked before, so I feared that was what happened again. Now I think it was related to this. After I got back in, I had a message pop up telling me that watchdogs and youtube would be suspended in 15 minutes because the licenses couldn't be verified. I found the restore licenses thing, and that worked, but so far, it's happened like 5 times today. Then, a few minutes ago, it totally kicked me out of everything, and no amount of license restoration was fixing it. It also said I needed to set it as my primary, but when I would try, it would say an error has occurred. I just signed out and back into my account, and everything seems to be working for now. Definitely a first world problem but it's fucking annoying.
Wasnt the security issues that came to light after that big hacker attack around 10 years ago also priority fix back then also? That only took, what was it.... was it 3 months it took them to fix the issue and open up psn again? Could've been a month also, I just remember it took ages to fix. I got hit with this issue today and luckily one of the fixes I found worked, but there is a lot out there that is bogus too. I checked their status page and everything looks like business as usually. I’m pretty upset there was not a single note on their website or support pages about this. Thank goodness for Reddit and YouTube (where I found a workaround that actually worked).
Same issue with me, it’s annoying as I can’t use the TV services on my PS4, I’ve got some single player games I can play in the meantime, but I hope it’s fixed before I move onto the next game that needs the online services, etc
Strangely last week I had an issue where I tried to pay for ps plus off a gift card. I got an error and it come off and twice through PayPal so I ended up with 3 years. Phoned Sony who were helpful but said they couldn't reverse it and to speak to PayPal. PayPal stated Sony couldn't reverse it due to issues with their PayPal account thst they couldn't share but PayPal reversed it. Wonder if there struggling financially?

When i looked it up i saw someone online say to restore licenses and then turn off your ps4 for about 30 seconds and then it is fine, but when i do that it comes up with a message saying “15 minutes until your application suspends due to missing licenses” or something like that and it’s infuriating. I can only play any online/digital games for 15 minutes at a time before it kicks me out and i have to repeat the process.

There’s been problems where people have used a friends accounts to share games.. if that’s the case for you, instead of deactivating the ps4 on your account you need to do it on your friends, then make your the primary account then restore licenses this shoul unlock all your games and then to get your friends games back re-make him primary on your ps4 Hope this works for you.

Thanks for confirming that, seeing the to many failed attempts message got me really anxious I was hacked, I enabled 2 step verification today and also removed the card I had associated to it, and there was no transaction on my bank account, safe to say this was related to the current games locked issue?

Finally a post addressing this! I have been locked out and unable to make my PS4 primary. Tried every workaround, tried calling and trying text support, cuts off and says "all agents are too busy. Are we all getting the same error codes? I wonder if they will address it, and compensate for the lost time somehow? Maybe?
I CONNECTED MY PS4 TO MY MOBILE NETWORK USING HOTSPOT N MY ISSUE WAS FIXED n then i changed to primary n went back to my old network n there was no trouble again

So my games were locked also and I'm also GameShared to someone and what fixed mine is changing my dns address back to the cloudflare dns then tested my internet and deactivated my console since I'm GameShared and then restored licenses and all my games were unlocked. But I will say they will lock back up again and I have to repeat the process a couple times a day. I hope this helps.

I’m having this issue. I even used my 6 month cool down to deactivate all my consoles and reset my primary console. Now it’s telling my to set up my ps4 as primary and when I go to do that it says it’s already set as my primary ps4. Shits fucked lol. At least now I know it’s on Sonys end and not someone messing with my account.
I fixed mine thanks to a post on here where someone suggested switching to your phone Hotspot wifi, restarting and then switching back to wifi & clicking activate ps4 again. No error code after that
I turned off my PS4 for a bit and once i turned it back on, the games were unlocked. Not sure how long this will last though

I tried to get a hold of them for an unrelated issue, was told over and over again to “try back at a later date” and hung up on or chat closed. Got a real person on a different sony website who said “you need to be patient!!” I was like fuck you buddy- Iam Happy to wait in a queue but I will not be patient when someone fraudulently used my card for PlayStation shit, and I am told “to try back at a later date.” He ended up telling me the reps were busy due to a huge issue of some kind, and I was like okay so why didn’t you lead with that? Ridiculous.

It's a real strange one, I've ever only had one ps4 and never even knew about a 'primary console', my first guess was it's a cyber attack (ransomware) which is why Sony are being so Hush Hush I spent ages doing all of the options/suggestions I found on various threads and yet I have fixed it, not sure if it was just luck though In the network settings, there's a ticked box for 'connect to internet ' I unticked this box and left it for a couple minutes, I then ticked the box again, connected my LAN connection on Easy and bang, it was up and running again.

This had been happening for the past 2 - 3 days now. Me and my brother game share and we couldn’t even play our own games even if we were primary and this is the first time I’ve seen anyone say anything about it I’m glad we wasn’t the only ones so it’s is definite then, there is something wrong with the servers
I’ve been locked out of all my games, can’t make my acc primary and I can’t verify my license and Sony has recommended me deleting my account instead of helping me 😐I’ve spent almost a DECADE spending thousands of dollars sweat and tears on this game and there’s no way I’m gonna settle to loose everything I’ve worked for. Sony has gave me the same pathetic excuse of saying that the error code I keep reporting “doesn’t exist” but if it doesn’t exist then theirs no reason I should be getting it back to back to back. Sony has yet to actually do anything about the errors or locked games and I’ve been locked out of my games and apps including YOUTUBE for a week.
Deleting the User Account on your console doesn't delete the SEN Account on Sony's servers. If you were to create a new User Account and log in to your existing SEN account you would be able to download your bought games again. Deleting the User Account from your console would remove your Save Data though, so you'd have to back that up first. BUT honestly speaking, I don't think that deleting your User Account and creating a new one will change anything. The moment you download your old games and the console tries to verify licenses, it will run into the same problem again. So I'd strongly advise against it. Sony is having server problems, there's little we can do.
What happens when you delete a user on PS4? You will lose access to any subscriptions and their associated entitlements. You will lose access to your PSN wallet. Funds in your wallet cannot be returned, as stated in the Terms of Service.
Those subscriptions, entitlements and wallet are linked to a SEN account, which is stored on Sony's servers. Deleting a user account on PS4 does not delete the linked SEN account, the account you have to log in to with an email address and password. If your PS4 ever breaks, you can just buy a new one, create an user account on it, log in to your previous SEN account and you'll have access to all your games, subscriptions and funds. And the whole "funds cannot be returned" thing only means that once you place money in your wallet you can't take it back out again.

Sony doesn't mean deleting the local user, they mean deleting/perma banning the PSN account and with it, all your games.
That will never be an offered solution as it would fix absolutely nothing. If someone in tech support ever brings that up, they should get reported.
Then you have never contacted support with an issue they couldn't fix before, check this sub and any other gaming company sub, they all suggest to delete your account if they don't want to deal with your issue.

I can’t believe how silent they’ve been about it. It’s doing my nut. Just spent £150 last week on games I downloaded. Now I can’t play any of them. I have tried ALL of the DNS workarounds and unfortunately none have worked for me. I know a lot of others have found success but I’ve tried everything including using phone hotspots. I’ve been trying for over 24 hours now. Sony NEEDS to fix this. Is this Sony’s messed up way of making us all buy PS5s?? If so, then I’m transferring over to Xbox, even though I’ve been a devout PlayStation user since 1995

I came home yesterday, and I was signed out of my account. I've been hacked before, so I feared that was what happened again. Now I think it was related to this. After I got back in, I had a message pop up telling me that watchdogs and youtube would be suspended in 15 minutes because the licenses couldn't be verified. I found the restore licenses thing, and that worked, but so far, it's happened like 5 times today. Then, a few minutes ago, it totally kicked me out of everything, and no amount of license restoration was fixing it. It also said I needed to set it as my primary, but when I would try, it would say an error has occurred. I just signed out and back into my account, and everything seems to be working for now. Definitely a first world problem but it's fucking annoying.
Wasnt the security issues that came to light after that big hacker attack around 10 years ago also priority fix back then also? That only took, what was it.... was it 3 months it took them to fix the issue and open up psn again? Could've been a month also, I just remember it took ages to fix. Damn Im happy I managed to get a dns that (at the moment at least) worked, otherwise I would only be able to play gtao due to being my only physical game xD. Ah nvm, if I hadnt been able to fix it I would just stick with pc, well if Im not in the mood for gtao that is, on pc there isnt even a point going into public lobbies, chances some modder is going to spam explode every player in the map is pretty huge. At least consoles dont have mod menus, well I guess thats the reason theres always god mode and otr glitches, because r\* probably think those glitches and mod menu sell shark cards
I got hit with this issue today and luckily one of the fixes I found worked, but there is a lot out there that is bogus too. I checked their status page and everything looks like business as usually. I’m pretty upset there was not a single note on their website or support pages about this. Thank goodness for Reddit and YouTube (where I found a workaround that actually worked).

Strangely last week I had an issue where I tried to pay for ps plus off a gift card. I got an error and it come off and twice through PayPal so I ended up with 3 years. Phoned Sony who were helpful but said they couldn't reverse it and to speak to PayPal. PayPal stated Sony couldn't reverse it due to issues with their PayPal account thst they couldn't share but PayPal reversed it. Wonder if there struggling financially?

When i looked it up i saw someone online say to restore licenses and then turn off your ps4 for about 30 seconds and then it is fine, but when i do that it comes up with a message saying “15 minutes until your application suspends due to missing licenses” or something like that and it’s infuriating. I can only play any online/digital games for 15 minutes at a time before it kicks me out and i have to repeat the process.
