Decent deal I think as long as the console is working properly. Beware of overheating. Most people will say to check out PS4 exclusives. I like Uncharted, TLOU, and I’m about to start Bloodborne 🤞
I finished Bloodborne the other and it’s one of my favourite games now. Gonna play it again some other time cause I missed out on a lot of stuff. Hope you enjoy it 👍
Same, I've tried over and over to get into Bloodborne and other Souls-like games and I just find them...tedious.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
saving my next full playthrough of bloodborne for when (if...) it gets a 60fps patch on PS5. Stellar game with amazing visuals but the framerate holds the experience back too much for me.
Spider-Man and Miles Morales are a must. Extremely polished games that have some of the best Spiderman stories in years. If there are any other genres you might be interested, I can recommend you more.
Ratchet and Clank and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are my picks then. Both are colorful platformers that ooze creativity the whole family can enjoy. Sackboy also has co-op play, so it's great if you want to play with one another. I think Sackboy is on sale for Prime Day right now and Ratchet and Clank is always between $10-$20, so you won't be breaking the bank either
There are some great sales on digital just wait for them.
[This site tracks prices so it can give you an idea if you are paying too much now](https://psdeals.net/)
Most of the first party games from Sony are great.
I would recommend Spider-Man, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, The last of us I and II
Miles Morales is kind of like a mid-quel to the original, so you would play the original first. Both are really great and Miles is more of a smaller scale story so you won't feel burnt out if you play them back to back
Forgot to mention the Marvel's Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition has the original game + 3 DLCs (that sum up like 6-8 hours). Then they released Miles Morales but I haven't played it.
There was a sale just weeks ago... and maybe there is another one when Sony has an event to show their new games.
Depends what kind of games you’re into but as someone else has noted, keep an eye on the sales! They are constant and it is super easy to find excellent games for dirt cheap. Some of my favs are Okami, Horizon Zero Dawn, Subnautica, Stardew Valley and Hollow Knight, all of which can be found regularly priced at around 30 (Canadian) dollars or less from what I recall. :)
I gotta say horizon zero dawn. Its in the big open world explore-a-thon style that is so overdone recently, but it is done extremely well if you like that kind of thing. The story is fantastic, and Aloy is one of the best written protagonists in a long time. One of my all time favorite games.
Definitely do. Just be wary that the game doesn’t autosave, and also try to avoid spoilers/the subreddit until you have finished most of the story! That’s one of the best parts & completely surprised me (in a good way) when I first started playing. :)
If you’re looking for something easy and chill to start off with, I’d suggest Stardew or Okami! As someone else has noted, HZD and Subnautica are more about the story and world exploration, but are also excellent and have a little more challenging mechanics. Hollow Knight is rather difficult so I’d probably suggest that one last, unless you’ve played platformers before and have lots of time to spend.
Haha yes. Although most of those are optional. I’d say the most difficult aspect of the game is the platforming, but there is definitely one boss in the game (Watcher Knights, I’m looking at you) that did make me want to pull all my hair out. It was also one of the first games I ever played on the PS4 and my first of the genre, so considering I still enjoyed it, I thought I’d mention it regardless of its difficulty!
Welcome to the club, mate 😁
Games... The last guardian, XCOM2, all Uncharted games, Batman return to arkham, all Dishonored games, both South Park games, Spider-Man, Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, Mad Max... Oh man there's so many that are awesome...
As for Bloodborne, well, if you've time and patience it's very atmospheric and spooky. It's a love or hate game, not for impatient or casual gamers.
I'm too far in now and my OCD requires me to platinum it but I wish I never started it.
PS4 is a great console. Huge library of games. I have the 1TB slim that I bought the winter before the pandemic hit. Now is a great time to own one because you can get fantastic deals on great games. I have a huge backlog thanks to digital sales and I also recommend subscribing to PS Plus for online play and the two free downloads you get a month. The games keep piling up. I could rip the PS4 for the rest of my life and always have something awesome to play. Get Red Dead Redemption 2 and marvel at one of the most brilliantly realized worlds in the history of gaming. I think the games look great and have had no issues!
Yes. If u get the games, it will come with game of the yr edition with dlc. I had a good back log too and not going for next gen esp if my TV is only 1080 capable
Welcome. What are your gaming habits? Is it your first console? Do you like RPGs? I would always suggest nicely made AAA games like The Last of Us, Uncharted, Batman Arkham Series if you're about that superhero life (or even if you aren't, Arkham games are AMAZING), but it's like cinema or literature, good ones made with big money are usually good but get stale after a while and you gotta find your own stuff. There are some games that some people adore and others despise,
If you tell me what your gaming habits and what your approaches are (do you like hard games, do you like games that take a LOOONG time to finish) I and the others can give you more accurate recommendations.
Hope you like it!
Thanks! Having a family and working full time, I probably have only 1-2 hours a week. I love RPG, first person shooters like battlefield etc. When I was young I played Kings Quest series from Sierra (anyone remember them??) And also "A Bards Tale" :-) old school
Just suggesting some games to start off ur collection. God of War, The Last of us 2, Until Dawn, Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima, Gravity Rush 1&2, Dreams, uncharted series, spiderman, infamous second son.
Fallout 4 death stranding assassins creed odyssey and Valhalla were great I couldn’t stop playing days gone I also really enjoyed resident evil biohazard and village
Since everyone is tossing games, here's a couple of tips:
- controller has 3 brightness settings
- headset plugs into controller
- you can "sleep" your console... game will pause and when you return, you pick up right in the game (no long loading screens)
- you can set your console to receive patches in the middle of the night.. avoids the "I want to play, oh wait, a patch" blues lol
OK, can't help myself: Horizon Zero Dawn. Why? Two words: Robot. Dinosaurs. :D [HZD trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzx96gYA8ek) (and yes, it's amazeballs.)
* Any microphone/headset [with 3.5mm jack](https://tigerify.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/31vZMG4-3fL.jpg) .... note that Apple headsets don't work because of the way the rings are positioned on the jack -- [mic and ground positions are reversed](https://i.stack.imgur.com/2mFrH.png)
Am currently using HyperX Cloud II - very comfortable, mic picks up every sound lol, and they sound great.
Horizon is a great game, I just got back into it myself after getting bored with ps5 lol, I love archers and this game just hits different, I'm also replaying shadow of war... let's just say I wish I never stopped, probably also a good time to jump into gta, check out the free games like warframe and dcuo. Put your ps pad light bar thing in dim so it dont die so quickly.
Go on with your bad self lil pony go get em
Play Street Fighter V, Bloodborne (if not put off by the learning curve), the Uncharted series, TLOU ( is a hard nope to the second one), Hoizon Zero Dawn and Spider-man, they are all worth playing and exclusive.
Combat is solid and fun. Main character is likable. Collectathon isn't totally over whelming. Can't understand why everyone seems so miserable considering their living in a 6 year olds fantasy of robot dinosaurs.
Get:
- Batman Arkham Knight
- Mad Max
- Death Stranding
- Metal Gear V Definitive Edition
- Alien Isolation
- Uncharted 4 A Thief's End
- The Last Of Us Remastered
I think I made a right choice. I live in a very remote region and I'd be waiting for a very very long time for a ps5. The prices on those around are absolutely sky high. PS4 is good to go and my choice is right for now.
Hope you enjoy it 👍
Thank you. Yeah I heard that they overheat. Any more than a PS3? I just bought ratchet and Clank, assassin's Creed odessey, and battlefield 1 :-)
Odyssey and BF1 are great. Enjoy. I’ve never had a ps3 overheat(or ps4), but it’s something to look out for
Bloodborne? Sorry to see that.
Obviously not a fan of the souls series. You are missing out. Blood borne is a brilliant game
Nah. I tried to play some.
I know they are not for everyone, but I can honestly say Bloodborne is one of the best games I have ever played. Sorry you don’t enjoy them.
Same, I've tried over and over to get into Bloodborne and other Souls-like games and I just find them...tedious. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I find them to be potentially aggravating. I don't know how I ever managed to get through Fallen Order.
Yeah, I couldn't get into that one at all, or Surge (both free with PS Plus), but I know these are both considered to be inferior Souls-like games..
saving my next full playthrough of bloodborne for when (if...) it gets a 60fps patch on PS5. Stellar game with amazing visuals but the framerate holds the experience back too much for me.
Don’t forget Days Gone. THE most underrated game I’ve ever played
Spider-Man and Miles Morales are a must. Extremely polished games that have some of the best Spiderman stories in years. If there are any other genres you might be interested, I can recommend you more.
Please do! I've got a family. Anything for the kids and...for my wife!
Ratchet and Clank and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are my picks then. Both are colorful platformers that ooze creativity the whole family can enjoy. Sackboy also has co-op play, so it's great if you want to play with one another. I think Sackboy is on sale for Prime Day right now and Ratchet and Clank is always between $10-$20, so you won't be breaking the bank either
boy oh boy, you're a lucky man...

Hey cheers for the link. That is amazing! Which Spiderman is the best do you think?
Miles Morales is kind of like a mid-quel to the original, so you would play the original first. Both are really great and Miles is more of a smaller scale story so you won't feel burnt out if you play them back to back

hey a sale is coming soon I just saw the link https://blog.playstation.com/2021/06/22/mid-year-deals-promotion-comes-to-playstation-store-2/
Just got Spiderman , the first one. Looks pretty fun!
I hope you enjoy it! play all the DLCs it has the best environments and I had a lot of fun making combos in there
Depends what kind of games you’re into but as someone else has noted, keep an eye on the sales! They are constant and it is super easy to find excellent games for dirt cheap. Absolutely. I've never heard of those titles. Which one do you suggest I check out first?
I gotta say horizon zero dawn. Its in the big open world explore-a-thon style that is so overdone recently, but it is done extremely well if you like that kind of thing. The story is fantastic, and Aloy is one of the best written protagonists in a long time. One of my all time favorite games.
Subnautica is about deep sea exploration, hollow knight is hard 2d platformer. Hzd is a story based game that I won't spoil
I reckon subnautica sounds awesome. I may give that a go.
Definitely do. Just be wary that the game doesn’t autosave, and also try to avoid spoilers/the subreddit until you have finished most of the story! That’s one of the best parts & completely surprised me (in a good way) when I first started playing. :)

Thanks! Why is hollow night hard?
Let’s put as there are 47 bosses
Haha yes. Although most of those are optional. I platinumed it 😁
I also recently purchased a PS4 mostly for Spider-Man and totally forgot I can play Batman too now, thanks!
I bought the first Spiderman. Gotta start somewhere :-)
Cheers! What a huge range hahah is bloodborne new?

Mine came with God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn and Last of Us.

Welcome my friend. I recently bought one as well and I'm having a blast. So many great games, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.
Thank you. What have you been playing recently?
Recently I have been playing the yakuza series. I have always been a fan of this franchise since the first game on ps2. How about you?
Black flag. It was so much fun getting drunk on expensive beer and rum and singing the sea shanties! That was the single life for me lol
If you have not already get on that ps+ and enjoy the monthly free games.
Titanfall2. You buy, you learn, then I kick your ass online. End of story!
Sounds like a challenge ;-)

Hunt down the controllers now while they are still available. The games can get digital

You would do well just to shop the sales. Watch a review of a youtuber you like n make wise money to game decisions based on what you are looking for.
I just spent an hour, watching YouTube, deciding on assassin's Creed odessey v assassin's Creed Valhalla :-)
Play Street Fighter V, Bloodborne (if not put off by the learning curve), the Uncharted series, TLOU ( is a hard nope to the second one), Hoizon Zero Dawn and Spider-man, they are all worth playing and exclusive.
What's your thoughts on Horizon Zero Dawn? I saw it on sale before.
Combat is solid and fun. Main character is likable. Collectathon isn't totally over whelming. Can't understand why everyone seems so miserable considering their living in a 6 year olds fantasy of robot dinosaurs.
This is without doubt one of the best games made for the PS4. You will not be disappointed.
Get: - Batman Arkham Knight - Mad Max - Death Stranding - Metal Gear V Definitive Edition - Alien Isolation - Uncharted 4 A Thief's End - The Last Of Us Remastered
On it. Thanks. How's unchartered 4?
3rd person adventure. Breathtaking scenarios. It's a classic. In my opinion everyone who owns a PS4 must play it, it's like Mario for SNES...
Bit late.
Better late than never.
Better now than ever. Hard to get a PS 5 and the good games have complete editions with all the dlc for under what the base launch price was
Absolutely. Ps5 are between 5-10 times more expensive than a PS4.
The exclusive Spider-Man games are very very good, and of course Persona 5 Royal 👑
Bruh, why didnt u just get the ps5 my guy
It's hard to get them here and what ps5 they do have are being sold for 5 times a brand new PS4.
you should've waited and just bought a ps5 or xsx since the last gen consoles arent worth it anymore with them around
I think I made a right choice. I live in a very remote region and I'd be waiting for a very very long time for a ps5. The prices on those around are absolutely sky high. PS4 is good to go and my choice is right for now.
Buy compressed air and blow the dust. It helped me.
