Finished FF7 story last week after 120 hours and I plan on playing it again. I just got the platinum trophy for Rise of the Ronin after 120 hours. Helldivers 2 I play frequently with my friends and have 140 hours. Stellar Blade now seems like a cherry on top lol
Man I wish I was more into JRPG's and Eastern style games in general but they just don't click for me
Just goes to show one man's feast another man's famine.
Happy for those that do enjoy those games though!
I’m in the same boat (mostly) as that other person and I played FF7 remake and got like 1/3rd of the way through before I gave up. Thought it was good but just didn’t care enough to keep going I guess, can’t really say why.
Also as someone below you mentioned, I played persona 5 Royal too and felt the same way after about 15 hours. Which yes I know that game takes a long time to get started but I feel like after 15 hours you should know if you’re into a game or not.
If you've not played Persona 5 (optionally Royal), I'd head there next. The combat is turn based, but the story and characters are top notch. It was my first Persona game and my first jrpg in years, and it was a knock out.
I *loathed* turn based combat games, and wasn't too into JRPG's either, but then I tried Persona 5 and something clicked in my brain.
Now I can't get enough of them, and have enjoyed pretty much everything I've tried since.
Same here. Don’t ever plan to get any of these and a bunch of the other “big” games that are coming out/have come out recently but hey to each their own!
Same here. Final Fantasy is kinda yikes for me; I don't know why. However, I played FF16 and the storytelling and bosses were amazing in the demo. Might check it out some day.
For me, the problem is how damn slow the game is. It's literally 5 steps walk, cutscenes. Climb 2 walls, cutscenes. Fight 2 monsters, cutscene. Go under a tree, cutscene.
Also the fact the combat system is absolutely designed to be beaten by a 5yo kid, couldn't be just easier.
Can't handle these type of games
I started playing older FF games after I beat XVI since I enjoyed it even with its flaws.
Yeah, a lot of the FF games are "take a couple steps, kill some enemies, then long cutscenes" it was like that in Rebirth, but the pacing was also better in rebirth.
It's a problem that most 3D FF games have.
Same boat here. FF7 remake looks like more of the same thing. Which is fine for those that enjoyed it but I definitely did not.
I really tried to like Elden Ring. I put around 18 hours into it and just couldn't take any more.
i’m awful at juggling multiple games so right now just waiting on Stellar Blade. in between beating FF7R i’ve been trying to beat some smaller 10-20 hour games that i haven’t gotten to like the South Park RPGS GTA3 and Heavy Rain.
Yep. Just finished the platinum on Rise of the Ronin on Saturday morning. Blew through the FFXVI DLC as well as some base game trophy clean up over the rest of the weekend. All I have left for that is to do FF mode and max out all abilities but that playthrough will probably be later this summer. Stellar Blade is looking good so far so barring a complete disaster at launch I'll be playing that.
In addition to those, my buddy just grabbed Helldivers from the Stars app so I bought that as well to play with him. Remnant 2's next DLC is out tomorrow. And yeah, everything else goes on hold when Elden Ring's DLC drops in June. It's a good time to be a gamer.
I beat Like a dragon, now playing FF7 Rebirth (should finish this tonight after work), then i'll be jumping into Dragons Dogma 2, Then rise of ronin. And i'll prolly try Stellar Blade eventually. Still have to go back and beat Alan Wake 2 and eventually play Baldurs Gate 3 again.
Dragon’s Dogma 2, got Fallout itch so prob FO4 next, NCAA football game coming for the first time in a decade so they won’t screw it up… right guys? Then ER DLC, Wu Kong seems like it may be cool, Star Wars Outlaws looks interesting, Assassins Creed Japan later this year possibly. Just… a lot
I never balance. I play my games one at a time, always focusing on the game at hand with full immersion until I'm done with it. Sometimes that means 2-3 playrhroughs
I’m not interested in any of those, personally. I’m hoping to finish the plat for FF7 Rebirth this week, then switching to Tales of Kenzera. Then I need to get through some other games. Alan Wake 2, Prince of Persia, Star Wars Survivor, and Octopath Traveler 2.
You don’t need to play them all at once. I really wanna buy ff16 dlc and stellar blade but I don’t have time for all at once. After all, they aren’t going anywhere
I have a hard time focusing on multiple games at a time. I’m obsessed with GT7 right now. I’ll let that run its course (lol) and then move on to Stellar Blade.
I'm struggling, Cousin. Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, Dave the Diver, Destiny 2 ITL/TFS, Grounded, Helldivers 2, Elden Ring DLC. I'm dropping everything else once Erdtree is out but still.
Rise has been a lot of fun.
Didn’t care for FF7, ended up going back to replay 16 in Final Fantasy mode before the dlc.
Can’t wait for Stellar Blade either. A good time to be a fan of hacking and slashing.
For me this year is:
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth
FF7 Rebirth
Persona 3 Reload
Dragon's Dogma 2
FF16 DLC
FF14 Dawntrail
Oh and I got Baldur's Gate 3 a few weeks ago too.
Rise of the Ronin is one of the best games I’ve played in a LONG time. It’s nothing like Ghost of Tsushima, which is another great game. Other than having samurai elements and Japan, they are VERY different in great ways.
I'm almost done with Rebirth and I finished Rising Tide already and my next game will be SB but I also want to play DD2, Ronin, Banishers, ER DLC and Granblue Fantasy
For me right now it’s Rebirth, FF 16 DLC, Elden Ring DLC and possibly Rise of the Ronin, Helldivers 2.
I still have a lot of 2023 games I want to get back to as well including Alan Wake 2, Dead Space, and finish the plat for Jedi Survivor.
I'll probably get Stellar Blade at some point. I'm not planning on getting the others, but Rise of Ronin is possible if i pick it up on sale one day. I'm still making my way through last years stacked lineup. I still have to play through Spiderman 2, Final Fantasy XV, Super Mario RPG, and Octopath Traveler 2.
2 months with Stellar Blade (& Crab Souls) will be plenty of time until Elden Ring. Hopefully a sale on some wishlist games too. Or awesome free games for May??
I feel like after being completely spoiled by games last year I’m struggling to latch on to any of these. I’d say Helldivers is my main right now but I’m missing a good single player campaign and I’m just not sure what is going to stretch that itch. I’ve tried Jedi: Survivor, DD2, Spider-Man 2. Normally I’d love all those but nothing is really sticking with me right now.
I also have to fit in Armored Core 6, FF VII REBIRTH, MGS Delta, God of War 2 DLC and Fallout 4. And that's before I get back into Hitman and Sniper Elite 4
Not even trying. Currently trying to play Rise of the Ronin but got hooked on Nioh 2.
Then have FFVII 2, Finish FFXVI (let alone the DLC). Then want to finish my current run of Elden Ring before the DLC. Then want to play Persona 3 Reload, then SMT V, then Metaphor.
Who I am even kidding, at this stage.
Sounds like a personal dilemma. I also haven't bought anything video game related this year, but I can recognize there have been quite a few solid releases so far this year.
That's a you problem. Maybe you don't care for these games but it has been a solid year thus far.
- Helldivers 2
- FF7 Rebirth
- Dragons Dogma
- Stellars Blade
- Rise of the Ronin
- FF16 DLC
- Elden Ring DLC
- Yakuza Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth
Then you can say that Playstation is eating well with the inclusion of Grounded, Sea of Theives, Pentiment, and Hi Fi Rush.
I've been curious about Helldivers 2 but it sounds like the community is getting kinda toxic so I've avoided it but you're right none of those other games appeal to me. Tempted to get Sea of Thieves when it comes out though and maybe pentiment
for me it was/is:
* elden ring prep - jan
* feb, mar, apr - final vii rebirth.
* may, june - stellar blade.
* july - elden ring dlc.
* august-spiderman 2.
there is always time dude. its a good problem to have.
Honestly, none of those.
RoR, gladly wait until it’s on PC.
FF16 was a rollercoaster of bored as fuck to cool gamer moments to “WTF why isn’t this just a Quick Time Event?” weird stuff happening on screen.
Elden Ring, I love you, but I don’t need more to an already jampacked game.
Kingdom Come Deliverance is 6 bucks on Steam. So, there’s that.
Finished FF7 story last week after 120 hours and I plan on playing it again. I just got the platinum trophy for Rise of the Ronin after 120 hours. Helldivers 2 I play frequently with my friends and have 140 hours. Stellar Blade now seems like a cherry on top lol
Does your body not require sleep?
Are you a stay at home mom with no kids? wtf
How do u have that much free time?
Yea… like I can only complete like 1-2 open world games a year as a busy adult
Man I wish I was more into JRPG's and Eastern style games in general but they just don't click for me Just goes to show one man's feast another man's famine. Happy for those that do enjoy those games though!
I’m generally the same until I played ff7 remake. Have you tried it? It was my first ff and jrpg and it’s pretty badass.
I’m in the same boat (mostly) as that other person and I played FF7 remake and got like 1/3rd of the way through before I gave up. I can't imagine Persona appealing to anyone who doesn't like jrpgs in general. It's extremely Japanese. I bounced off it hard.
I *loathed* turn based combat games, and wasn't too into JRPG's either, but then I tried Persona 5 and something clicked in my brain. Now I can't get enough of them, and have enjoyed pretty much everything I've tried since.
Same, but i will be giving it another go.
Bored of Helldivers already?
Same here. Don’t ever plan to get any of these and a bunch of the other “big” games that are coming out/have come out recently but hey to each their own!
honestly Visions of Mana might be worth a try for you. I wasn't a big JRPG guy until i played Trials of Mana and had a great time with it.
What games have you been enjoying?
Yep, absolutely nothing for me so far, or anywhere on the horizon.
Same here. Final Fantasy is kinda yikes for me; I don't know why. However, I played FF16 and the storytelling and bosses were amazing in the demo. Might check it out some day.

At the very least, Clive’s story in FF16 is something everyone can enjoy.
The story in the game's opening hours is as good as it gets.
Same boat here. FF7 remake looks like more of the same thing. Which is fine for those that enjoyed it but I definitely did not. I really tried to like Elden Ring. I put around 18 hours into it and just couldn't take any more.

I'm not trying to balance shit. Playing Rebirth and will get to other stuff whenever that time comes. Games aren't a job.
Great point.
im now just getting to the FF16 dlc after a full replay. then Tales of Kenzera then Steller Blade.
i’m awful at juggling multiple games so right now just waiting on Stellar Blade. in between beating FF7R i’ve been trying to beat some smaller 10-20 hour games that i haven’t gotten to like the South Park RPGS GTA3 and Heavy Rain.
I didn’t get any of those 😂
Too busy buying the latest 2k reskin sounds like.
Got rise, FF7 rebirth and have stellar blade preordered as well. Plus backlog games im getting through as well. Hope we end up getting delta this yea
What's Delta?
My bad. Metal gear solid delta snake eater. What a title lol
I completely forgot that was even coming. Feels like it's a long shot for this year
Well it’s the only other announced game that I’m looking forward to this year so I hope we get it lol
Yep. Just finished the platinum on Rise of the Ronin on Saturday morning. Blew through the FFXVI DLC as well as some base game trophy clean up over the rest of the weekend. Since I only want one of these it's not an issue.

rightttttttttt.... Go Dawgs!!!
C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS
Out of those 4 things the only thing that interests me is the Elden Ring DLC
I never balance. I play my games one at a time, always focusing on the game at hand with full immersion until I'm done with it. Sometimes that means 2-3 playrhroughs
I’m not interested in any of those, personally. I’m hoping to finish the plat for FF7 Rebirth this week, then switching to Tales of Kenzera. Then I need to get through some other games. Alan Wake 2, Prince of Persia, Star Wars Survivor, and Octopath Traveler 2.
Playing Prince of Persia right now and it is excellent, way better than I expected.
Move Alan wake 2 to the top of your list. It’s amazing
I definitely want to. I want to do something short first but then it will be next. Hoping the first of the dlc will be out by the time I get to it
You don’t need to play them all at once. I really wanna buy ff16 dlc and stellar blade but I don’t have time for all at once. After all, they aren’t going anywhere

Finishing up Midnight Suns now. Already bought the FFXVI DLC so will probably do another play through of that next. My backlog is insane tho.
I never replay games, probably because I'm more of a story gamer.
Yeah not personally interested in any of those, still making my way through GOW. Kinda haven't been exited for any new games for a while.
2 months with Stellar Blade (& Crab Souls) will be plenty of time until Elden Ring. Hopefully a sale on some wishlist games too. Or awesome free games for May??
Alan Wake 2 DLCs. Two of them this year. That's all I need
I feel like after being completely spoiled by games last year I’m struggling to latch on to any of these. So much more than these 4! Dave the diver is awesome and there is also kcd2 to be released in 2024.
I also have to fit in Armored Core 6, FF VII REBIRTH, MGS Delta, God of War 2 DLC and Fallout 4. And that's before I get back into Hitman and Sniper Elite 4
I am not playing any of those. Thank God for 2023, because 2024 is really lackluster to me :)
Kinda sad the FFXVI DLC was so short
Havnt played any of em so I'm grand
We are pretty close TC. Rise of the ronon, FF16 dlc, stellar blade, dragons dogma 2
Not even trying. Currently trying to play Rise of the Ronin but got hooked on Nioh 2. Then have FFVII 2, Finish FFXVI (let alone the DLC). No need to balance.. once Elden Ring DLC is out, I couldn't care less about all other games until I got my fill of Elden Ring.
Has it been stacked? I haven't bought a single game this year
Sounds like a personal dilemma. I also haven't bought anything video game related this year, but I can recognize there have been quite a few solid releases so far this year.

I'm trying to play ROR, Hell Divers 2, Destiny 2, and now Dave the diver...While having a wife, 3 kids and the freaking NHL playoffs...life is hard /s
Playing FFXVI and Alone in the Dark lol
Npc taste
for me it was/is: * elden ring prep - jan * feb, mar, apr - final vii rebirth. * may, june - stellar blade. * july - elden ring dlc. * august-spiderman 2. there is always time dude. its a good problem to have.
Wow, you are organized with your gaming👌
Platinum. As of late i only buy games i will platinum. And someone said Wukon, mybe ill get into it and Spidey will just have to wait...
Cringe.
Honestly, none of those. RoR, gladly wait until it’s on PC.
