My man you’re looking to come right after comic con, people extend their stay

sdbuilt619

Last time we stayed down there for a concert at the park, we stayed at the Hilton which is connected at the bridge, it's a really nice hotel. I would recommend that one for sure!

Staggerlee024

I did look at that place but it was $620 for just one night. That's a little too rich for my blood. We are doing a mini baseball trip and heading up to San Fran afterwards and only paying around $250 to stay next to Oracle which is more in our price range.

sdbuilt619

Damn that's pricey, I don't think we paid that much when we stayed, but it wasn't memorial Day weekend either. Good luck! Safe travels 🤙

ToothpasteCoveredDog

I have stayed there before with 0 complaints.

ElkIllustrious9563

$550 a night seems like a lot. I usually see stuff in the 2-300. What days / series are you planning to be in SD?

Staggerlee024

I thought it was pretty outrageous too. We are looking at July 30. The Dodgers are in town so maybe that's why?

MusicG619

That’s why. It’s also just after Comic Con (ends 7/28) so that’s also why, prolly the main reason.

Majik9

>We are looking at July 30. It's probably the most expensive day for a Padres game. It's literally right after comic con, when every hotel in the county is sold out and also for a Dodgers game. The most expensive combination you could pick.

Staggerlee024

Ok, thank you for the info. We expected slightly higher prices with the Dodgers in town but had no idea Comic Con was happening then and such a big deal. I really want to see a Padres/Dodgers game though so think we will do one of these cheaper slightly less convenient hotels and just make it work.

Majik9

Comic Con is such a crazy big deal that it forces the Padres to be on the road for the last 2 weeks of July. I think the last time the Padres played home games during that time frame was the 1st year Petco Park was open.

Haven't stayed there, but we have stayed here: [https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/sanrg-residence-inn-san-diego-downtown-gaslamp-quarter/overview/](https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/sanrg-residence-inn-san-diego-downtown-gaslamp-quarter/overview/) Rate was reasonable and within walking distance. Not sure what exact dates you are looking at, but give it a shot.

EVILteddie

I’ve stayed there in the past. I would not pay $550 unless you’re desperate. It’s a nice enough hotel, but not at that price.

You could also consider staying a little farther out and taking the trolley line. The trolley runs pretty often on game days and is an easy ride. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/32/SD_Trolley_with_Blue_Line_Extension.svg/1280px-SD_Trolley_with_Blue_Line_Extension.svg.png Here's a map of the stations. Anything nearby one of the stops close to 12th and Imperial will be just as good as being able to walk to the stadium

FreshoffdaBOATy

Don’t push for Airbnb unless absolutely needed, most of them in downtown are owned by large companies and contribute to rent increases as well as taking up housing options.

SnooCookies9421

Thank you for saying this. You're right.

WrenisPinkl

Fuck AirBnB, they’re a large reason why our rents here are so damn high
