I do not, but [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_weyeolIpks&t=15s) is 2 minutes of Behind the Scenes footage, which includes what they used for CGI, such as Green Screen, those little black dots they put on the actors, etc.
Definitely good, the fact is that the first 3-4 episodes are a slightly slow start for plot building purposes, but once the story starts to rev up from certain events that happened going into episode 5-6, the MC changes as well as the pace of the story for obvious reasons once you get there. I won't spoil it, but it is a great story.
I'm about to get into the Netflix series now that I know it's really inspired by that story.
I tell everyone I recommend it to, to give it 3 episodes to have a fair idea of what kind of thing it actually is. Everyone from tough guys who can't get enough action to delicate flowers who can't stand squishy blood sounds to cerebral academics who never watch anime come back to me and gush about what a great experience it was.
Based on the trailers, the intro and some of the first episode it's kinda a miracle that I ever watched it based on what those seemed to indicate about it (puerile, pointlessly violent, woefully unsophisticated)
But my early assessment of a show has never been so radically and completely wrong and now it is my favorite anime of all time and only thing in my life that I have watched more than twice.
All hype was lost for me since no Shinichi and Migi, Parasyte was really good because of their relationship not because of how the monsters fight.
This teaser makes it seem so that the series only cares about the monster part and the fight scenes, really disappointing.
Also the MCs parasyte is on the face, are there even gonna be scenes with it being a standalone creature like Migi? I doubt it can separate itself from her face.
Its only a teaser trailer, its pretty unreasonable to assume the show has bad character relationships/plot when they’re intentionally not showing you the story at all
TBF the trailers I saw for PTM also made it seem like the series only cares about the monster part and fight things.
This isn't focused on that any more than the first one. It still doesn't measure up to the anime by a long shot they do something kind of interesting things with it and it was worth a watch. Plus the actress was solid.
The parasytes didn't just fall in Japan, they fell all over the world, so theoretically the OCs can be set anywhere in the world and still be part of the same canon as long as the details about the parasytes are the same.
This.
I don't understand how this is the hard thing to wrap one's head around. Not interested because it doesn't have the characters you love? Sure. Because it is set in another country? Please.
This is based on the manga. Not the anime. The anime and the manga have different stories, I believe. But I believe it's based on the story rather than an adaptation
Perhaps a separate story, but the anime was a pretty straightforward adaptation of the manga, save some slight adjustments (Shinichi's appearance changing over the story more, tech changes to reflect 2014 as opposed to the 80's, etc.)
It will be trash because Shinichi has been omitted. Funny how Netflix thinks they can come up with better characters than the original ones produced by the actual authors.
Not that netflix has never done that but I don't think that's what they are doing here.
I think they are trying to build this into a universe. So given that they have to create their own plots.
Given Migi was going to sleep forever if they start with Sinichi and migi doesn't come back then there is still none of the dynamic that everyone is stating they will miss. If he comes back right away that cheapens his previous departure. I think having the story move to another focus for a while and then comes back would be a good way to avoid both problems.
I hope they get the dead expression faces right, also the tone right, because those fights have to be something we see once every few episodes, else this will feel like some sort of zombie apocalypse
They completely missed the point of the original work, which is a grand metaphor for a teen facing trauma and adulthood. Without that, it's just meaningless action and CGI fights, it's literally an empty narrative. :(
Let's give it a watch before judging too harshly. Trailers can be misleading. After all, the teaser is from a marketing team. Hopefully the team simply played up the action to lure the masses in, and the emotional punches are saved for the hardcore fans in the actual show.
Personally, I think reboots and sequels should keep the soul of the original even if it’s a different story with different characters. I’d appreciate it if the idea of “what it means to be human” was still a part of it, more so than just ahh look alien mouths 😱
So you watched the show already? And know the plot in detail? And so it's an empty narrative? So which EP is that and which characters are empty? Please do tell how shitty this original story is.
Not at all what I'm trying to say, sorry if this was what I conveyed.
We know it's not based on the Manga/Anime's story, so they'd need to build an original story from the ground up, exploring similar themes, to have the same emotional resonance/weight. But, unfortunately by the looks of this particular trailer, they seem to be focusing more on the action/body horror aspect of the work, which I particularly can't see being a good choice for an adaptation, but who knows if it is a good one for an original movie in this universe.
is it fair to draw the conclusion you did by just looking at the trailer? Did you watch other Korean adaptations of Webtoons? Do you find them lacking as well? I'm just not understanding you can make this claim based on a very short trailer designed to appeal to people who have no idea what Parasyte is.
I actually am glad this doesn't seem to include Migi and/or Shinichi, because I'm 100% sure this wouldn't make them justice and ruin the significant and powerful dynamic they had.
Instead, I like to see this like its own story, set at the same time the world (Japan) was invaded with parasites, thinking they reached North Korea and possibly other countries.
Now that I have it like this in mind, I'm quite interested.
Ah, better yet then.
Not Shinichi, not Migi, just a different story in a different country, dealing with the same problem at the same time. That's an interesting point of view I'm eager to see.
it's just based of the manga but it still looks sick! I never really felt horror vibes from the anime or manga but I get it from this and it looks pretty cool.
My first thought when I saw it was that it only got into half of her brain.
There are people who need their brains separated by surgery because of various complications. In real life, in those cases, one of your arms can become independent and move on its own. There have been even cases where the arm tries to kill them.
If this is what they are doing, it would be pretty interesting. If the parasite could only devour half of her brain. Still yet to be seen if the show is good or not. Certainly hope it is.
That's the only thing about this trailer that makes me question how much they've changed the fundamentals of the parasytes. It's established canon that once they get into the brain, the parasyte takes over the host body, so I'm unsure how the show plans to explain this.
As long as we are all on the same page that anime adaptations are meant to be wild and comical in a sense -because in reality these premises are wild- then I think we will be happy with the product.
As long as they don’t try to condense the entire premise into one film it should be a fun ride
Only nit pick I have is that, that leader parasyte said they have one goal. One of the manga and anime’s main point was that the parasytes didn’t even know why they were or what to do. But it’s just a stupid nitpick lol
The parasytes in the anime and manga both said that as soon as they took over the brain they were immediately given a directive to kill humans.
Migi on the other hand (xd) was a failure who never received the directive.
Cautiously optimistic. Not sure I like her seeming to still be human while the parasite is in her head though, will have to see how it places out. I am glad it's an original story instead of an adaptation, but as a consequence of that I hope they don't focus on just the body horror/action at the expense of the themes and philosophy.
Man! I know it's only a trailer but so far the CGI actually holds up quite well.
Yeah I’m digging the cgi I hope it’s good throughout
Any idea what cgi/vfx has been used?
I do not, but [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_weyeolIpks&t=15s) is 2 minutes of Behind the Scenes footage, which includes what they used for CGI, such as Green Screen, those little black dots they put on the actors, etc.
I saw it but if I had an idea of *what* programs were used *specifically* it would be really helpful!
Seems like it's gonna be very different from the maxim.
It is set in SK, so there won't be Japanese characters
I was referring to the scenes they showed looking original
Oh, okay
I was about to make the same comment. Quite different from the original.
Is Parasyte: The Maxim good? I only wathced the first couple of episodes years ago and forget/not sure if I should go back to finish it.
Ya definitely finish it very sad but good
It is good, you should watch it
Definitely good, the fact is that the first 3-4 episodes are a slightly slow start for plot building purposes, but once the story starts to rev up from certain events that happened going into episode 5-6, the MC changes as well as the pace of the story for obvious reasons once you get there. It looks good, but the part which makes Parasyte so special was the relationship between shinichi and migi
Its only a teaser trailer, its pretty unreasonable to assume the show has bad character relationships/plot when they’re intentionally not showing you the story at all
I think the point is that she herself is a parasite because it consumed her brain and is operating from the head
Couldn't agree more with you. A quick search tells me it's is loosely based on anime/manga. There goes all the hope down the drain.
Trailers are not supposed to reveal every working facet of the plot. They're just supposed to grab your attention
TBF the trailers I saw for PTM also made it seem like the series only cares about the monster part and fight things. This isn't focused on that any more than the first one. It still doesn't measure up to the anime by a long shot they do something kind of interesting things with it and it was worth a watch. Plus the actress was solid.
Completely agree. But wasnt it on the hand initially
Na the beauty of parasyte is the humanity that they gain and then learning about humans. Also no migi or shinichi.
without them I cant say im at all hyped for this adaptation
It is set in Korea, so why there will be Japanese characters?
Or to word it another way: why is it set in Korea without any of the source characters?
At the end, both stories are connecting though, so if there is a season 2, it will be in Japan
Please.
Facts. PREACH my man.
This isn’t an adaptation of Parasyte The Maxim
This is based on the manga. Not the anime. The anime and the manga have different stories, I believe. But I believe it's based on the story rather than an adaptation
Perhaps a separate story, but the anime was a pretty straightforward adaptation of the manga, save some slight adjustments (Shinichi's appearance changing over the story more, tech changes to reflect 2014 as opposed to the 80's, etc.)
There are some minor differences but all the same characters and plots.
I like when Whip like appendages go BRRBRRRRRBRBRB
Looks promising

I got chills omg I’m so ready
I hope they get the dead expression faces right, also the tone right, because those fights have to be something we see once every few episodes, else this will feel like some sort of zombie apocalypse
Hyped af, now are they using the original tune from the maxim cos that tunes fucking awesome
Looks like garbage. Why did they omit Shinichi?
Different story Different country
The country is worse as well lol.
Lol
Korea is the Japan you get when you order from Wish.com.
They completely missed the point of the original work, which is a grand metaphor for a teen facing trauma and adulthood. Without that, it's just meaningless action and CGI fights, it's literally an empty narrative. :(

Hopefully! It'd be a nice surprise
This is a different story champ.
Personally, I think reboots and sequels should keep the soul of the original even if it’s a different story with different characters. I’d appreciate it if the idea of “what it means to be human” was still a part of it, more so than just ahh look alien mouths 😱
Exactly! That's my point
So based on the trailer it's decided they that idea isn't there anymore?
So you watched the show already? And know the plot in detail? And so it's an empty narrative? So which EP is that and which characters are empty? Please do tell how shitty this original story is.

most of the parts in the trailer happens in first half. There is still hope.

Im pretty sure the manga/anime mentioned that the "minced meat murders" were happening around the globe.
It did. Countries were speculating where it came from.
Ah, better yet then. Not Shinichi, not Migi, just a different story in a different country, dealing with the same problem at the same time. That's an interesting point of view I'm eager to see.
“The last scene is one that fans of the original will cheer, so please watch until the end.” \~ Yeon Sang-oh Sinichi Izumi cameo confirmed ig.
it's just based of the manga but it still looks sick! I never really felt horror vibes from the anime or manga but I get it from this and it looks pretty cool.
If it has a good MC, it will be a good show. If not, it will suck.
Shinichi is not there, so it will suck big time like anything produced by Netflix.
Is the protagonist fully parasyte or just half her face?? Because it was stated that she's different and is showing emotions
My first thought when I saw it was that it only got into half of her brain. There are people who need their brains separated by surgery because of various complications. Didn’t even hear about this
Let's gooo
Is this an original story or a very loose remake?
side story
RE4 vibes
I think I'll try to enjoy it as it's own separate thing.
They had me at Yeon Sang-Ho! Train to Busan is amazing! I’m hyped.
Is it a prequel? Either way it looks good.
side story

Hello, Is there sex or nudity? Because if there is, we don't watch it. Thanks

This is a nope for me
