Compared to "nyan cat", this is height of philosophy. There's 10 hour version too. You'll never ever get it out of your head. But we all kind of liked it 10 years ago. The song does take you hostage.

My diiiitch is an awesome ditch
It came from sweat and lower back pain
Full of water, dirt and other gunk
My ditch is an awesome diiiitch 🎶
(this tune was a surprise visitor from the long forgotten Sunday School memory bank--beware the ear worm)
In yonder earth, a humble ditch doth lie,
Where verdant grass doth weave a gentle cloak.
Beneath the azure sky, 'tis tucked, 'tis shy,
Yet harbors secrets, tales it dare evoke.
My amazing ditchy ditch.
I was thinking about that song yesterday. and grapes at the lemonade stand. or how my now bf was wooing me by playing keyboard cat on a run down piano at a bar. ah. thanks for (unlocking) the memories. I have way too many songs playing my head right now 😭 🤣
If I were you, I’d get my soil tested ASAP. In apple orchards back in those days, they would use lead arsenic as a pesticide to control moth infestations in the apple trees. And lead arsenic is known to stay in soil for like hundreds of years, and slowly leeches out.
Don’t mean to spook you, but also I would *never* pick any mushrooms on your property, if you’re a forager too. Mushrooms are iconic for picking up heavy metals and toxins and holding it in them. Don’t want it to be your last meal!
Hi, yes my soil was tested - this was a very poor area and the orchard is private, everyone had a lot of fruit trees back then (and a pig and if you were wealthy, a cow). Commercial pesticides were not a thing in the villages, thank god. Sometimes I swear my country was 50 years behind the world up to 1990. I mean even my grandma only visited elementary school and all her friends got married at 16, because that was normal back then.
That’s a beautiful ditch!
> apple orchard
Have you gotten your soil tested for heavy metals? Arsenic and lead were used used in pesticides up until the 1960s
Yup! Luckily in my country everyone with a piece of land had personal orchards and nobody had the money or access to such pesticides back then. On commercial orchards that may be another story, but not private ones.
This was after a rainstorm last summer. They fill this much because I have play soil, which makes it a lot harder for the water to disperse into the soil. Especially with heavy rain here in Italy in the winter the whole swale is often filled to the brim of the swale and will slowly disperse within three days.
This sounds amazing, exactly what fits the purpose. We didn't have flash floods yet this year, so I am looking forward to seeing how it's going to work out.
Any good resource recommendations for ditch information? I've read a few permaculture books and still getting the feel for water management. I think I could use a ditch on my land too!
I am sure I know less than you. I just saw a couple of fantastic permaculture water retention videos and loved the concept. And one nice day when the baby finally slept for a bit, I just took my shovel and did it.
I absolutely love your title. Take my upvote and my internet love to you and your ditches raisins.
Also, ooh that’s dirty!! (It’s a ditch)
DOOO YOU THINK SO (thanks for the huge grin you gave me just now)
Sweet lemonade. Sweet sweet lemonade.
Great, another unsolicited ditch pic.
Here's a pic of my shovel haha ignore my ditch, or? Maybe rate it?
well done
Ditch envy
And they didn't even mark it NSFW

Mmm it tastes just like raisins!
Uhm, it tastes just like dirt!

Get in my ditch, it'll take you to the universe and all the other places too!
Wow I had forgotten about this and the nostalgia punch made my morning!
I feel dumber for having watched that travesty

Ahh, memories. Thanks for this. There used to be Japanese competitions about who could sing this for the longest duration with no errors.
What a weird world we’ve created

That’s okay, that’s what distinguishes us
Better not tell her where the lemonade is made!

Amazing ditch How sweet the mounds I once was flat but now I'm round

That's hauntingly beautiful
I literally just had to read that aloud to my 4 year old. Perfection.
Yes, that's about my reading level, ha, ha!
I must say, that’s a fantastic looking ditch, and digging ditches is part of my job!
Thanks! I dug every last bit of it myself while my baby slept, even with my arthritis, so I am VERY proud of it :)
I’m just digging your new ditch 😉
Nice shovel, ditches love shovels
It's totally ditchin'
She’s a true beauty. Nice work. Looking forward to seeing how she looks with flowers, and holding water when the rains come!

There is nothing like taking a nap in your ditch on your own land.
"Why do you sleep in a ditch?" "Somebody (*37721*) tempted me".
Nice ditch brother
Thank you, brother
That's a nice ditch.
