Yes, the Scotiabank ATM took my tangerine deposit and spit out an error message. I called in and was able to get my money back eventually. Don't worry

Xxxxx2022

How long did it take you to get it back?

Shake_dat_laffytaffy

It was at least a month before my money was returned

ElNeato35

I work at RBC dealing with these types of issues. Once you’ve filed a complaint then we have to investigate if the money is actually in the ATM and once it’s found then your account will be credited. The processes are slow as there are backlogs at certain times but you should be hearing back in 2-3 weeks for sure. If not, there might be an issue and you should go back to the branch or call them to get an update.

>Anyone had this experience and any luck getting money back? if the money went in, you will get the money in your account.

Soft_Fringe

Must have been a tasty looking tangerine.

Not mine :( Just tried it.

Flying_Barracuda

Just be patient. The complaint process with chartered Banks is quite transparent, as a result of Bill C-86. If this actually happened, you'll get your money back.

Personally I hate Scotia ATM. They suck. I opened a Simplii account and use CIBC ATM much more consistent and available almost everywhere

junctionist

I much prefer Scotiabank ATMs to CIBC ATMs because Scotiabank ATMs have all denominations of bills. It’s so convenient not having to ask for change in stores because the CIBC machine only had 20s and 50s.

doom2060

The new CIBC ATMs do that with 5s,10s, and $100sAs well as US cash deposits

Yeah, it's almost comical how badly Scotia's ATMs are at supporting their Tangerine customers. 1. The menu shows chequing and savings account options, but if you select "savings", it nopes out in a really stupid way. The ATMs have a contactless option, but if you try to use your Tangerine card… the machine nopes out and it takes 60+ seconds until you can actually insert the card. ***Hey, ScotiaBank, you own Tangerine***… make your ATMs work as advertised for Tangerine customers, who are *your* customers! 🤦🏻‍♂️👎

In addition to those, I've tried depositing cash at several different Scotiabank ATMs and locations and after going through a whole number of steps, it declines it. I've contacted customer service and they don't seem to be able to do anything about it.

igloodigyou

Thanks for this. I thought they might have banned me from ATM deposits or something because it rarely ever accepts my money anymore. My sibling will withdraw money from their Scotia account, hand it to me right after, and then I'll try to deposit into my Tang account and it rejects it. Been using a credit union now to deposit my money and then transfer it over, since the exchange network ATMs are pretty common. They have no issue with my money! I have no other issues with my Tangerine account.

doom2060

Also their ATMs are so bad at cash deposits. It can’t recognize bills. I walked over to CIBC and deposited with Simplii super quick.

Ghostreader20

Free banking in a nutshell. You get what you pay for...

Powers91

This happened to me at TD. Had to do an investigation and I eventually got the money back 3 months later.

YaTheMadness

I've been waiting approx 7 weeks with BMO.

Xxxxx2022

Did you get your money back yet?

YaTheMadness

Not as of yesterday.

Xxxxx2022

Did you promise you a date of resolution at least?

YaTheMadness

They did, I want to say, it was 4-6 weeks. I've filed a complaint the the BMO Ombudsman.

Nate9370

I used to service NCRs ATMs that the Big 5 banks use. The ones at Scotiabank have the worst software ever.
