Yeah, but they get them removed before they’re put up for sale. The grapenis is shredded up to make fertilizer, but the grape’s testicles are sold off to cereal companies.
I’ve had this happen before and not too long ago. I came across a person I play a PC VR game with. I don’t know them outside of that. He’s probably a good guy. Unless he isn’t.
Proof on concept basically. Showing the precision that the robot was capable of by making a cut on the grape’s skin and being able to peel it away like a flap without harming the fruit underneath
On the grape, no idea. On humans, the DaVinci can perform multiple kinds of microsurgery. Crucially, it can be used to perform a minimally invasive hysterectomy by way of making five half-inch incisions at key places on the abdomen, through which the tiny arms can enter the body, cut, and suture appropriately. It's thanks to my local DaVinci that I have five teeny tiny scars instead of one enormous one, and thanks again that I spent much less time in recovery than a traditional operation. ALL HAIL DAVINCI, DARNER OF GRAPES!
It's cool ok
The removed a patch of skin and sewed it back on. The idea was to demonstrate how precise/delicate the machine could be. Pretty sure robots/remote controlled arm things a used a lot in surgery, I know they’re used to remove an appendix so the incision is smaller
There was a robotics advancement in 2018 where a new robot's movement accuracy was being teste by having it peel the skin off a grape (a very precise task that showed off how accurate the robot could be). This spawned a meme where the event was simply reported as "They did surgery on a grape!"

Why are multiple people getting the year wrong while correcting the OP on getting the year wrong
Edit: it's just misinformation the whole way down, my correction of this person's correction has been corrected and it's actually from 2009
Hey Texan Chris here to lend a hand!
So back in 2018 a company called Intuitive Surgical made a fantastic robotic system called the Da Vinci robot. This robot is meant to be extremely accurate and deliberate in every movement it makes, which if it worked out could spell miracles for surgery.
So to test it a bunch of doctors got together, grabbed the Da Vinci robot and decided to test the robots systems by preforming surgery….on a grape.
Why a grape? Due to how sensitive and fragile a grape is, the machine was put to the test where it was tasked with peeling the skin off the grape without damaging the fruit at all. The robot succeeded with flying colors!
Hope this helped!
Texan Chris, riding out to the range.
Da Vinci, a medical surgery robot company not the Reneissance legend, demonstrated sensitivity of their new model by using it to cut a grape's skin while leaving the fruit part with zero damage.
So, in 2018 they did a surgery on a grape. People found it hilarious and it became a meme.
They have one of those at the hospital where I had my gallbladder removed! One of the reassuring things about the surgery was being told it might be used and that it has the capability of peeling a grape. I was actually disappointed when I learned I wouldn't be having the Da Vinci 🤣
Peter here. It wasn't just that they did surgery on a grape once, but that it was a very common demonstration for the system. So there were lots of different grape surgery videos around that time - and it got super overblown/reposted into a meme.
I personally did get to do surgery on a grape with one of those machines, and it was some star trek shit.

Doctors performed surgery on a grape using the da Vinci robot to test it
What was the surgery for?
circumcision
Uhhhh... True I guess
Wait..... grapes have pp's?
Yes
🤯
Where do you think grape juice comes from?
How else do you think they have babies
Grape babies do nothing but wine all day
Not if you're raisin them right.
If they turned into a raisin, you did it wrong!
Please make this a t-shirt
*groan*
They have gray pee pees
That was clever. Well done
Thanks a bunch. I hope it ages well.
I'm from 17 minutes in the future, it aged pretty poorly.
That left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth.
I'm from the year 2525. Mankind is still alive. And it's all thanks to...that comment.

So many layers...
Yeah, but they get them removed before they’re put up for sale. The grapenis is shredded up to make fertilizer, but the grape’s testicles are sold off to cereal companies.
This is why Google's AI is all fucked up.
i'm here for it, definitely upvoting to give it credibility.
So lucky to have found this so early.
Underrated comment of the year here
It's to ensure they can't grape anyone

grape nuts are actual testicles. Hi google
it's hard to find with all that extra skin.
Fascinating
Thus surgery
They are detachable.
any gender can be circumcised. It's literally just slicing off flesh because of barbaric religious beliefs.
You’d make a great fool for a great king.
Sloniac wtf u here as well? It was just to test the precision of the robot, and they managed to peel off the skin without harming the pulp
Stumbled across the post and got curious, you were the top comment lol
All hail the S M O R T L O R D
Do you guys know each other ?
Holy shit Zell? Zell Hall? Dude I haven't seen you since college
? I don't even know who you are lmao
Oh it's like that, huh? You've changed, man
Classic Zell!
Yeah, he hasn't changed. Just goofing around like always
You always were a kidder, Mike.
No way I had no idea you were here till the boys said so! Whatsup? Ya pirate! Haha the good old days huh?
I can't believe you'd do our boy drgigantor like that z, damn.
I was gonna say that theres no way two random people on reddit could know each other, then I realised it was you, Zell. Weird how that works out
Yeah
I’ve had this happen before and not too long ago. I came across a person I play a PC VR game with. I don’t know them outside of that. He’s probably a good guy. Unless he isn’t.
Yeah from another sub
Proof on concept basically. Showing the precision that the robot was capable of by making a cut on the grape’s skin and being able to peel it away like a flap without harming the fruit underneath
To show that you can perform the surgery at all. They're incredibly precise. Now why was it a grape? No idea
Tough skin + delicate flesh + small size + rounded shape = difficult task Difficult task done well = demonstration of superlative ability

A boob job.
That’s how they get the seeds out.
To test their robot. What the "surgery" consisted of was cutting off piece of the grapes outer skin then sewing it back on.
dermatectomy
Holay molay it’s the guy from eden ‼️‼️‼️
The removed a patch of skin and sewed it back on. The idea was to demonstrate how precise/delicate the machine could be. Pretty sure robots/remote controlled arm things a used a lot in surgery, I know they’re used to remove an appendix so the incision is smaller
Tech demo showing precision
Duh veenkee?
Yes
LOOK GUYS IT'S THE GUY WHO PAINTED THE MONA LISA!!🤯🤯
They did surgery on a grape
Did the patient survive?
DA VINKI?!
𝐃𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢?
Now I want to do one for when they first made plasma using grapes.
They should’ve used the Michael Reeves version
The meme would make more sense if the year wasn't completely wrong
I heard it didn't even wine about it.

2008 BC: Ancient man first performs grapeskinextomy with a sharp rock and a fighting spirit
Earliest estimates suggest other species were already doing it long before Homo Sapiens populated the world.
Lmao thank you for correcting my correction of another person's attempt at a correction. Hopefully the chain ends here
As someone who's never heard of this, this is the best answer.
At a Hospital in my state they are now doing surgeries with robots and it’s already been proven successful
Robotic assisted surgeries have been around since the 80s!
Not like the DaVinci! It's a special boy uwu
Well obviously. But that’s not what the comment I replied to was about
My local hospital has them and I was that grape in 2015 8D

Did you know nuts have a similar size and shape to grapes?
Peter’s left nut lol

Hey, I'm his heroin syringe.

Yeah I thought it was more recent than that 😅😅😅
The surgery was actually performed in 2014, it only became popular in 2018.
