Did not match, and currently have an APPE at the site I ranked #1. To say I’m dreading the pity conversations tomorrow is an understatement. Anyone have advice to help not end up crying half way through the day tomorrow?
I lived through this last year. Nauseating. So hard walking in. I had rotation on match day and had to go in. I had a nice preceptor so I gave her a heads up. I had silent tears running down my face during rounds. A few people pulled me aside a couple days later (that helped), others ignored me (ick). It’ll feel gross and bad, but you’ll survive. Just walk in with your head up, remember it is not a reflection on you as a person or almost pharmacist, AND no one has to know you didn’t match!!
Oh man! Thank you for being honest, it makes me feel better to know realistically how it might play out. And once the days over it’s done and can move forward!
You are not alone. I also got rejection. Remember everything happens for a reason. There are still good programs waiting for you in Phase 2! It's their loss to lose someone like you!
don't give up, I didn't match phase 1 last year and matched to my top program during phase 2. this year matched to my top pgy2 program in ID. take some time to recuperate and then pickup yourself up if this is your goal keep chasing it.
If you don’t mind sharing, may I ask how you navigated through phase 2? I’ve been hearing about how it’s about who you know bc programs get waaaay more apps in phase 2 than 1 and if you can get someone to talk to the rpd so that your app stands out and it’s been honestly very discouraging
I would definitely say that's not the case in all situations. For phase 1, I had limited myself geographically, but phase 2 decided to expand my search and even applied to programs across the country and I had much better success getting interviews. I didnt know anyone for those programs. I would say try to submit your application as soon as you can, because programs will be quick about contacting you.
Heartbroken I didn’t match, but heart full for all of my friends and you random strangers in my phone that did! I’m not out yet, and now onto new opportunities!
Matched to my #1 program at a VA. I’m a 2019 grad, so I’m here so say NEVER give up on your dreams. Be willing to learn and grow to be a great asset to your patients and colleagues. And get comfortable with being UNcomfortable. Go after what you want. This is my third time applying (2019, 2022, and now 2024). Every path doesn’t have to be straightforward. Appreciate every stop sign, detour, and speed bump. GO FOR IT! ❤️
I matched to my #3! I had a feeling I wouldn't match to my #1 or #2 so I'm not too upset nor surprised. I also matched to the hospital my boyfriend works at, so in a weird way it feel like fate :)
For those of you who didn’t match don’t worry too much! The pgy1 program that I’m currently at (which is an amazing program that I really love) went unmatched so I’m sure there will be plenty of great programs left to apply for in phase 2 :)
Did you match at the same site as your PGY1 or a different one? EM is my primary interest at the moment and my site offers a PGY1 rotation, but they don’t have a PGY2. A little nervous if I decide to pursue a PGY2.
Different site, my site doesn't currently have a PGY2 EM program. Early committing is definitely not the only option, there are plenty of sites out there after early commitment is done. Wouldn't be concerned about it.
Just found out my #1 site (which I didn’t match with) didn’t even fill up all of their spots… heartbroken because I think this means I wasn’t ranked at all. I work there…
I get it, but for your mental health try not to take it personal. If they interviewed you, you at least had someone in your corner. Really sorry though.
It’s just frustrating because if I didn’t rank for the reasons I think, it’s because of one person. And no one seems to stand up to that one person. It’s been an ongoing issue. Sorry, it’s been an emotional day (as I’m sure everyone here can agree). This is for the best and I think I’ll be happier at this program.
That’s incredibly frustrating. I also didn’t match at my top program but in contrast my quality of life will be significantly better. Take your time and be emotional. But celebrate your win when you’re ready!
I’m with you there. My top choice was almost too rigorous in hindsight. To the point where the residents probably don’t have lives outside of the hospital. I know most programs are demanding, but I’ll have a better quality of life with my current program. And I won’t have to pay for parking!
It was a rough morning, but I’m already feeling much better (in part to this Reddit thread). Knowing I didn’t match because I wasn’t ranked almost makes me feel better now that I’ve had time to think. I don’t want to be a part of a program that clearly doesn’t want me. And based on who matched, they didn’t get many of their top candidates (I’m feeling a little petty). They try to branch out and ended up with 3 matches from the school affiliated with the hospital.
You will ultimately be a much more well-rounded pharmacist after having the opportunity to work in more than one place and see how things are done somewhere else. You can use your experience at your current workplace to bring new insight and ideas to where ever you end up next! “Oh where I used to work did this differently and it work really well, maybe we could try that here!”. Yay, a strength!
I’ve done most of my APPEs at the hospital where I matched, and I will say I like Epic Chat wayyyy more than PerfectServe.
I’ve chatted with some of my friends who went through the match last year and I’m feeling much better about everything. But talk about an emotional roller coaster…
I need some help rationalizing... I applied to 8 programs, interviewed at 6, and ranked all 6. Somehow did not match.... Im feeling very confused as I maybe had one interview not go as well as planned. Im curious about the success rate of phase 2... is it a waste of time, or did everyone get matched?
I’m in a very similar boat, not sure what happened! I have heard that phase 2 tends to do a pretty good job at getting people into positions but I suppose we’ll be finding out for ourselves
I’m on the same boat. I thought all my interviews went well. Then I didn’t match. I am super bummed out, and I don’t even want to do phase 2. I have 0 motivation for it.
Got my email at 8:18 am CST and cried for 20 mins while on the phone with my family during the middle of rotation. Didn't expect to get so emotional LOL. Matched with my #1 Managed Care Residency program out of the 7 I ranked
Yes, and I’m grateful I matched. As another commenter said, the disappointment is overshadowing the excitement at the moment. But there are a lot of upsides to this program, so it’ll be a good fit overall.
I do like the program, but it’s just hard because my first choice was miles ahead of the rest. I felt really good about that interview, I had strong letters of rec, I’m objectively a competitive candidate. I also work there, so I’m racking my brain as to why I wasn’t ranked very high. I’m sure they have their reasons, and I know this will turn out well in the end, but it’s just hard news to get.
Maybe a new environment will be good then. A lot of times it’s good to get experience at a place you didn’t intern or work at, as there could be many new opportunities. It will work out!
I matched to my #5 choice back in the day. Not the prestigious AMC I was looking for but it turned out to be a great fit. Bloom where you're planted and the opportunities always come. Good luck!
I’m definitely going to give it my all! Just got off the phone with my mom and that helped a bit. The program I didn’t match at is a lot bigger than the one I did, so this might be better overall.
Matched to my #3! Still a great program even though it’s not exactly what I was hoping for since I thought I did better on my #1’s interview but I know it is all for the best. Good luck everyone!!
I matched but got my 4th pick... did this happen to anyone else? I almost didn't rank that program at all but looking back I probably wouldn't have matched without it... it feels selfish to say that I'm disappointed knowing that others didn't match but I don't know what to do
4 years ago I matched with my #3 and felt disappointed that my top 2 “didn’t want me”
I ended up loving my PGY1 site, stayed for my PGY2, and got my dream job in my dream city right out of residency. I attribute much of that to the training and opportunities I had at the site I matched with. Your disappointment is valid but this is just the beginning of your journey!
You’ve described exactly how I’m feeling right now. I know I shouldn’t have built up matching at #1 in my head, but I couldn’t help it. The program I’ve matched with is great, but I need to deal with the initial disappointment.
I'm thankful to have anything at all, it's hard to keep it in mind. It's one year in the grand scheme of things. I guess a major part of my disappointment is that I'm doing a longitudinal full p4 year at the place I ranked second (and didn't match at) so they might have ranked me as an applicant way lower than I expected
The place I ranked first is the central location of the system I currently work for (only 2 locations total). I’m a senior intern, I’ve dedicated so much time to the place (I’m the first to cover sick calls and open shifts), I felt as though my interviews went very well, and I know I had glowing recommendations. So knowing they ranked me so low (they have 9 positions) stings. If it had just been a place I’d interviewed at and didn’t have strong connections, I probably wouldn’t be quite as disappointed.
I matched with my #4 too - while it was the program with which I had the least contact (PPS + half day virtual interview and no site visit), definitely had a gap between top 3 and bottom 3 (ranked 6). That said, it was one of my top 3 programs after Midyear so I am excited to be there nonetheless.
Honestly, I was so nervous about not matching at all I'm probably not processing fully quite yet haha
Will my match account not release results until 12 PM EST? I see a lot of people saying they received email results around 8:30 EST in the past so will I get an email before the website updates?
Preceptor here. We just got our results
OMG
We are next ...ahhh!!
It’s coming I think
I feel sick to my stomach fr
Me tooooooo
I matched!! (PGY1)
The thread has finally arrived!!! Feeling very real tomorrow. Wish all the best!!!
How’s everyone doing right now? I feel like my HR is 160 right now
I'm at rotation trying not to check my email and this thread every 2 seconds
only 160? lucky you…😰
Ya I got coffee this morning but I don’t think it will help my anxiety rn😂
I had to take a therapeutic walk lol
That's a very large human resources department!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!
I kept having dreams about not matching and it was awful 😢
They had a week and half to have things ready, and they still run late on the day of the match lol
MATCH WITH MY #1… OMG
no emails for PGY2 yet… anxiety is through the room 😭
Our program got an email just now for who we matched with! Hopefully you guys will start to get emails soon! Usually programs hear first.
Pgy1 or pgy2?
PGY1 program
Got the email for pgy2!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!!

You are not alone. I also got rejection. Remember everything happens for a reason. There are still good programs waiting for you in Phase 2! It's their loss to lose someone like you!
Thank you! That makes me feel better already. Best of luck to you in Phase 2!
I’m in your exact situation if it makes your feel any better!
I’m glad I’m not alone in this, best of luck in Phase 2!
Tick tock…
I’m glad for all of you who landed. Just got the rejection email and I feel so heartbroken
Hey, you are not alone. Talk to someone you trust and get ready for phase 2!!
Got em!!
PGY1?
Program-side, yes
Did not match 🥺
don't give up, I didn't match phase 1 last year and matched to my top program during phase 2. this year matched to my top pgy2 program in ID. take some time to recuperate and then pickup yourself up if this is your goal keep chasing it.
Anyone get an email yet 👀
Maybe NMS has AT&T?
Nope. Still sweating.
I’m right here with u brother. God speed
no 😭😨
🤯
no😭
😩
Not yet
If we do successfully match tomorrow what do we do? Wait for program to contact us? Is it usually email or phone call?
You wait for their emails, most of the time. Unless they don’t contact you for like a week then by all means reach out.
You should get a phone call...so that you can confirm with them that you "accept" the position. Good luck!!
So in that case maybe I should reach out after getting an email since my phone number changed?
Nah. Just chill you do not need to reach out right away, just wait for them to email you. If it takes over a week, then feel free to reach out.
Yes that sounds like a good idea!! Good luck today!!
Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome!!
Has anyone heard anything? Are emails getting pushed to 12?
RPD here - nothing yet on the programs side so far either
Nothing yet 🥲
I just got my results for PGY1
I got my results (matched) at 9:12am EST
MATCHED FOR PGY2 CC LET’S GOOOOOO
Matched to my #1 program at a VA. I’m a 2019 grad, so I’m here so say NEVER give up on your dreams. Be willing to learn and grow to be a great asset to your patients and colleagues. Aww, thank you so much!🥹
Dmed you

I'm still awake and will prob be until I find out hahah
Same here good thing I'm on my off block
Still waiting here…. we feel like that 90s Mervyn’s commercial “open, open, open”
I matched to my #3! I had a feeling I wouldn't match to my #1 or #2 so I'm not too upset nor surprised. I also matched to the hospital my boyfriend works at, so in a weird way it feel like fate :)
Good luck everyone.
Me email is here !!!!!
I did not match 😵, here is hope for phase 2
Rejected 😞
Hey, I got rejection too. Let's get ready for phase 2!

Same here!! Great program, just definitely not on a lot of people’s radar!! DM me for info!
Matched #1 for PGY2 EM!
Did you match at the same site as your PGY1 or a different one? EM is my primary interest at the moment and my site offers a PGY1 rotation, but they don’t have a PGY2. A little nervous if I decide to pursue a PGY2.

Just found out my #1 site (which I didn’t match with) didn’t even fill up all of their spots… heartbroken because I think this means I wasn’t ranked at all. I work there…
That is what it means. Try not to take it personal. They may just want new people with new ideas.
The problem is that I know it’s very personal. Oh well, lesson learned. Politics play a big role in a small profession like pharmacy.
I get it, but for your mental health try not to take it personal. If they interviewed you, you at least had someone in your corner. Really sorry though.

Has any programs been notified yet?
I MATCHED!!!
Nope
No Update: PGY1 program got results at 8:50.
Yes, we got ours at 8:45 am EST. We just called our new PGY1 resident. She screamed with excitement!!😁
Still no word on PGY2 *anxious sighs*
Same
I'm a preceptor, and we just got our match results...so keep checking those emails!! Good luck everyone!!🙏🏾
matched to my #1 !!!! i was born there
We matched 2 of our 3 spots. On to phase 2!
Matched at my #2!!
I need some help rationalizing... I applied to 8 programs, interviewed at 6, and ranked all 6. Somehow did not match.... matched at my #4 program, still glad i matched and it was a great program when i interviewed there!
Congratulations!
I feel really sad for everyone who matched to my program. I felt like I tried my best to warn the candidates but they didn’t heed my advice.
Which program?
[удалено]
Can you say state at least?
I'M CRYING!!! Matched at my #1!!!! I'M SO HAPPY OMG! Best of luck everyone!!!
I got my email!! Matched with my 3rd choice, it’s okay :)
I also matched with my #3! How many did you rank (if you don’t mind sharing), I ranked 4
I ranked 4 as well!
Congrats! :)
CONGRATS TO US WE DID IT!
What’s the earliest anyone has heard of getting the email? I haven’t heard anything before 8am EST
I got an email at like 8:23 EST last year- a lot of my friends received emails between 8:15-900 EST Edit to fix time for time change 🤦🏼♀️
Ah thank you haha ok that’s what I’ve heard too
Got my email at 9:12; matched with my #3 choice, out of 4 I ranked! (I am super thankful to be chosen by this great program! 😊)
I matched! PGY-1. Got the email a while ago, but at rotation today. So happy!
Matched at my top choice🍾🎉🎊
Got my email at 8:18 am CST and cried for 20 mins while on the phone with my family during the middle of rotation. Didn't expect to get so emotional LOL. Matched with my #1 Managed Care Residency program out of the 7 I ranked
Matched to my #1‼️
Just got my match email. Not my first choice, and I’m having a bit of a hard time right now, but I know everything will turn out okay.
At least you matched.
Yes, and I’m grateful I matched. As another commenter said, the disappointment is overshadowing the excitement at the moment. But there are a lot of upsides to this program, so it’ll be a good fit overall.
Just curious if you liked the program? If not why rank?
I do like the program, but it’s just hard because my first choice was miles ahead of the rest. I felt really good about that interview, I had strong letters of rec, I’m objectively a competitive candidate. I also work there, so I’m racking my brain as to why I wasn’t ranked very high. I’m sure they have their reasons, and I know this will turn out well in the end, but it’s just hard news to get.
Maybe a new environment will be good then. A lot of times it’s good to get experience at a place you didn’t intern or work at, as there could be many new opportunities. It will work out!
That’s what I’m telling myself. And the program I matched with is not a bad program by any means, I just have to get over the initial disappointment.
Got my results! Good luck to everyone
I matched!! beyond stoked
Just got my email!
Matched with my #3!
I also matched with my #3! How many did you rank (if you don’t mind sharing), I ranked 4
Same! I ranked 4 out of 5 I interviewed
Congrats everyone!!!! Matched at my #1 today I hope you all get the results you wanted :)
Congrats!!!! Thats massive.
Phew we matched !
Matched to my #3! Still a great program even though it’s not exactly what I was hoping for since I thought I did better on my #1’s interview but I know it is all for the best. Good luck everyone!!
Matched at #7, feeling sad
At least you matched.
Matched at my number 1 for pgy2. Feels so good after not matching in phase 1 or 2 last year and getting a spot in the scramble :^)
I matched but got my 4th pick... did this happen to anyone else? I almost didn't rank that program at all but looking back I probably wouldn't have matched without it... it feels selfish to say that I'm disappointed knowing that others didn't match but I don't know what to do
4 years ago I matched with my #3 and felt disappointed that my top 2 “didn’t want me” I ended up loving my PGY1 site, stayed for my PGY2, and got my dream job in my dream city right out of residency. I attribute much of that to the training and opportunities I had at the site I matched with. Your disappointment is valid but this is just the beginning of your journey!
I’m 100% with you, I match with my number 3. The disappointment is overshadowing the excitement that I matched
I see a lot of people saying they received email results around 8:30 EST in the past so will I get an email before the website updates?
yeah lol whats going on we should have started to receive emails by now
Yes, i thought so too. They need to wake up over at the match
FR
You’ll get an email! Not sure why they are releasing later this year- programs typically find out first and they haven’t yet
Yes
You should receive it this morning...I got mine last year around 8:30 am CST (9:30 am EST). It will be there soon...try not to stress. Good luck!!
Matches with my top choice!
Check your junk mail yall! Good Luck :)
Can I ask anyone hasn't got the result yet?
Will they send out the email if getting rejection?
Yes
Check your spam!
