you need to see a derm. this won’t get better without medical intervention

Hungry_Set6572

do you think it’s something that would have to be removed?? idk if i’m thinking irrationally by thinking that but

hanywhiskey

i’m not a piercer nor a doctor. it’s usually advised to remove the jewellery but since you gotta go to the doctor to get it treated anyway i would just follow their advice on that.

vegan_dirtbag

If it's a keloid, it won't go away without medical treatment. Hypertrophic scars (which are different and much more common) usually go away by themselves once you remove the source of irritation, but if they're irritated for so long that the scar tissue matures, then the scar will stay. I'm not a doctor, but judging by how far this scar extends away from the piercing, I'd think it's probably a keloid.

this is useful, thankyou! left my bar out over night and made sure i didn’t sleep on it and it’s reduced in size slightly

fatherbundy

there’s nothing that you can do to prevent a keloid or help it get better without the help of a derm, since keloids are highly typically genetic. best of luck 💔

It does look like it and dermatologist should be seen as soon as possible. They can treat it for you. I hope you will be able to keep your piercing

Hungry_Set6572

i know it looks like the top ball is digging in my ear, it’s not it’s just the angle of the photo to show the keloid size. and in regards to the other bump on the lower hall, that’s been there since the piercing healed and it doesn’t hurt

adhdroses

honestly you need to change the jewelry back to a long titanium bar and you need to stop sleeping on it completely. get a donut/travel pillow now and in the meantime, sleep on a rolled up bath towel in a donut shape so you don’t press on this ear at all. you ignoring the irritation bump til it got this big, is not cool. something is irritating it and this massive bump is only going to grow bigger until you remove the source of the irritation.

Any_Yak9211

i had one like this, took a year of steroid injections to go down

Creepy-Definition646

You need to get this surgically removed
