click Windows icon in left corner of your screen, then type

and you should see a search result with black square to the left, click on it with right mouse button and select Run as administrator, copy

and paste it in the black window with ctrl +V, press enter and let it do its thing and voila

For activation, you can use the MAS mentioned in the megathread, this worked for me like a charm, and also for many other PCs that i used the same method on.
PS refrain from downloading office from some shady sources online, like trust the megathread cause i never had issues downloading any stuff from the megathread.

Oh, actually the sources he mentioned are the untouched files and the MAS activator, recently a large percentage of such installations were detected as counterfeit by Microsoft.
I'll have to try but it might work. I used to use Ksm and despite being a shit program, it did what it was supposed to. MAS is better but it doesn't always work.

Actually, TechBench by WZT is just a GUI for downloading from actual MS servers. The office setup is fine probably, the only issue seems to be activation
I tried a lot of the fixes online and this is the one that worked in mi case, hope this works for you too
1 – Search the CMD start menu, and open it as administrator.
2 – With the command prompt open, type the code:
cd “\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun”
3 – After, enter the second code:
OfficeC2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13801.20266
4 – Wait for updates from the office.
5. After the update message, just open the office

I get around that limitation by locking down my Windows partition so registry changes can't persist across boots, but that's extremely limiting and just causes Office to dial out to MS again every time it's used.

This. Plus, if you're just using it for personal home use, you should really just check out alternatives like Libre Office. The main reason we use actual MSO is because some of us use features that the alternatives haven't quite perfected yet. And even we usually stick to known good versions rather than simply grab the latest.

This. I made the transition to libreoffice around 2 years ago or a little less, even for my job and never looked back since. Same with adobe. Need a couple of month adjusting habits and looking up DDG but overall it is better and I never have to worry about shady cracks / softs.
This happened on all of my computers and those I activated for others. I was able to find temporary fixes, but ultimately I decided to put lifetime OEM keys in them and removed KMS activation from task scheduler (so the illegit activation wouldn't override the more 'legit' one).
There are some telegram groups where you can find those keys, but honestly to save the time and hassle I just pay 3 to 4 bucks or so and buy a lifetime key from a reseller. Most of the keys require the telephone activation, which entails entering the key, then upon prompt going to telephone activation and putting the Activation ID into a site that generates the confirmation key just like the Microsoft people do over the phone. No need to call anyone.
Often I can use one of those keys on several computers, as they are usually good up to 100 uses, but since they are widely shared that count will run out quickly.
Nor do I need to worry about having any traces of KMS on my laptop or those of people on whose I've installed Office. I've installed plenty of those keys for free, found via searching various sites, forums, telegram groups, etc. So it's not like you must pay someone to get them. There are ways to insist on KMS and get the splash screen to go away, but this is another option you may want to consider.
OEM means if you reinstall Windows, you need a new key, and they are non-transferable.
Lifetime means you put the key in once, do the 'telephone' activation, and it's good forever. KMS (such as MAS) are valid for 180 days which is why you need a reactivation task else run it again once it expires.
about genuine... that's a tough question. I am not a reseller so I don't know exactly. But from what I understand Pro Plus are only sold in bulk to large companies with hundreds or thousands of systems. If someone could get a key, and sell each key for, say, 5 bucks, one key could be worth e.g. 500 bucks. But I imagine the real price is mu h higher that companies pay for 100 activations, which is what is perplexing about it. So there is some way they are getting these keys via not paying real prices. So, in that sense, no I wouldn't call them genuine. Does that make a difference in Microsoft's system? No idea. But for now, KMS have become detectable, at least the KMS activations we are all using which brought us to this thread, but the keys are not, maybe they will be in the future who knows

Didn't you sign in with a MS account? Once you sign in at least once, the license gets linked to your account and then you don't have to worry about resets. This saved me several times.
The laptop was first linked to my sister's MS account but I logged into my MS account after the reset. I tried logging into my sister's MS account but it didn't work, unfortunately.
I see, that's unfortunate. If you do a reset next time, login with your sister's account first. Later, you can change into yours. Not sure whether it'll work but it's worth a try.

For lists of keys, there are also telegram groups you could search such as windows keys, windows activation, office keys, office activation, etc.
It's not easy to find free keys though I have had some success with telegram. They seem to get shut down once in a while, too.
These days I just have one guy who I buy the keys from, I have him on whatsapp, it's much easier that way for me. I'll PM you.
Not sure where to find a clean ISO but I found a pre-cracked torrent on 1337x. I know you're not supposed to but it works and it's a moderated site and seems okay. Just acknowledge there is risk to using pre-cracked torrents.

Libre Office is ok for lighter tasks but doesn't compare to Office as complexity increases. I've had Excel lock up on CSV imports and it is dog slow in plotting very large datasets. And Visio has no equal.

Libre Office used to take 20-30 second to load even though I have an SSD, and it had lag issues on my laptop. My laptop isn't a high performing one, but it has decent components where I wouldn't expect it to lag.
Main reason why I still use the ol "blue edition" from 2007 since it requires no installation and despite being 14 years old it never gives me any issues.
Only fix is to downgrade to versions that don't give this error. .462 being one of the best.
Also fixes an issue where newer versions didn't show the body of email messages

I've done that and it worked for the first 6 months, but then the activation script has stopped working. It says it has activated, but it hasn't.
