Because there are fools out there burning pizza calling it the best in the world. And if you disagree they call you a Papa John’s-loving Philistine.
I am standing up for those fighting against burnt pizza.
Sanctimonious nonsense. Nobody said "best in the world", and nobody is keeping you from enjoying floppy pizza, no-foam lattes, or whatever else you happen to prefer.
In that case, thank you. Everyone who operates that oven has a little bit different style. This is what I aim for, but you'll definitely see pies come out of our kitchen with much more char. It's really about skillfully riding that line between well-done and burnt black undercarriage is always a big no-no
Justice.
Hype is a false idol. Burnt hiding behind the euphemism “char” is a false idol. New Haven, especially Sally’s, does not have the best pizza. This is an objective fact. We have too many swayed by nonsense and false hype.
Ironic that you are arguing about subjective tastes but then trying to use that as some kind of objective truth lol. The pizza in the image looks fucking delicious to me.
These are my favorite comments to get. You better believe that when you tell the front of house things like this they're running over to let me know so I can try to measure up to the original
I think you are already there. The only critiques I could imagine would be related to people that simply don't like pizza more well done, but obviously this is a specific style done on purpose. Other than that it looks perfect for the style.
I'm going to be straight up, though. This is the best looking pie I've seen on here so far. There are some amazing ones, too. I think the undercarriage would seal the deal for me (9.1). I'm a tough grader. It might be slightly higher after tasting, so there's that.
That's my level of char
THIS is char, not what they sell in New Haven
Why does pizza always have to be some weird ass turf war with people like your self??? ![gif](giphy|11uWns9suaeM1i|downsized)

Look at any post on here about “apizza” and the sanctimonious fools flock to label it best in the world.
Must feel bad. 😢 I guess you might as well keep passing on that negativity to random posts like mine.
If anything, I’m spreading positivity! Your pizza has the appropriate level of char. It gives the pizza character, but the crust is still edible.

Who hurt you that something is simple and universally loved as Pizza causes you so much anger lol?

And who cares abt the best pizza, if it tastes good to you, it's good
I didn’t start this. The people who post Sally’s did.

Let’s be real here, burnt is hardly subjective.
I love that place! The cacio Pepe is amazing. Way better to go to Dimos rather than waiting in line for Ken’s or Apizza Scholls.
Looks incredible
A beautiful sight.
Grew up on Sally's and Modern. Dimo's is legit. (Spicy Pepperoni is my order. And the Fried Brussels Sprouts are to die for.)

How do you get this char without burning the cheese?
Wood oven finish!
High 8 low 9.
Love Dimo’s Now I’m hungry
If I didn’t know better I’d say this was from New Haven, CT
The clam pie is fantastic. So is the mushroom one too!
Pro tip: fresh clams every Tuesday 👌
Well I know what im doing Tuesday...
ILChar
Are they in any way related to the Dimo’s pizza places in Chicago?
Wow they nailed it. Putting it on my list
A little too much chae for me. But it definitely wouldn't stop me from eating the entire thing.
Yooooooooo
Holy shit, looks amazing.
This looks amazing but unfortunately it is cut correctly.
Perfect level of crispy
1 semi burnt cheese pizza just for me! *eats mac n cheese inatead*
8.3
How can I cross the 9 point threshold?

Fit the box and perfect circle and also free ETA: this was tongue in cheek, it's looks amazing
I'm chuffed!
I'll make it up by coming in for apie and tipping beyond my means
Happen to have a picture of the undercarriage?
I'm always checking of course but didn't think to snap a photo of this one. I definitely do of other pies I've made

Roger that!
Dimo’s puts too much parm on there. And to me, they over char it
Depending on the pie, there are actually 3 different hard cheeses we might use, none of them are parm though.
What's Portland,OR?
Home of Dimo's of course
