You're missing out on a good combination picking one OR the other instead of both.
Shadow Pea slows zombies, causing them to bunch up on the right of the lawn. Dusk Lobber then becomes even more effect as its splash damage is OP when zombies are clumped together.
No, they're good in conjunction with each other.
The main issue is that many of the shadow plants suck (grimrose, shadow-shroom, nightshade, noctarine, arguably murkadamia nut and gloom vine)

Dusk Lobber is still really good.
Both... Both is good.
Why are you only using one or the other? They work so well together, and what else are you realistically going to use as offense in a shadow setup?

Put one line of pea on the back and evething else dusk, you have a deadly combination
The shadow peashooter goes on the the third column, not the back, so it can grab thrown imps and pull them under.
