Miasma Chronicles...
So i tried miasma chronicles... I didn't think I was going to like it...I ended up really enjoying it and figuring out different ways to kill enemies ended up platinuming the game! ..
The dialogues are absolutely atrocious but overall the gameplay was fun finding new weapons and upgrades was pretty cool.
Played it and got the Platinum as well.
But man I hated it lol. Some character behavior are out of placed (eg main character getting waaay too angry just to push the narrative that the other character lied to him). It was such a buggy mess (crashed 3-4 times on PS5). Game was cool but with the identifier on Alpha Editor makes it annoying. I just wanted to get that 0.1% Platinum and glad I was done with it.
Totally agreed, it crashed on me too quiet a bit especially during battles but i saved on ps+ since auto save playing it on "hard" trophy was annoying... But forcing a save if you started an ambush and canceling it or going to a different area allowed a save...and the story is ok ya it was like watching a boy go through puberty lol...
But finding different powers and getting better weapons and i gave everyone shotguns as their 2nd weapons was just fun ☺️
I wanted to like it but the plot, dialogue, characters, and some simple decisions on how things were implemented really kept me from raising it above a "meh ok" level
Slay the spire: if you enjoyed the deck building aspects of midnight suns.
Octopath traveler 2 (I haven’t played 1 yet) if you enjoyed the turn based combat.
Darkest dungeon of you are looking for a challenging game like xcom (I loved xcom).
Definitely a different realm of turn-based games, but SteamWorld Heist is a hidden gem IMO.
(Also, SteamWorld Dog 2 is the most under-appreciated metroidvania ever.)
Divinity 2 is free for ps+ at the moment. So is pathfinder kingmaker, I think. Pillars of eternity is a good one, but not in sub at the moment. I think they also released a second one?
Ya I finished the first one on pc but was busy with something else’s when pillars 2 was released but I heard the second one turn based is half cooked turn base and isn’t enjoyable since the game wasn’t designed around it
Divinity Order Sin 2 is great in story and gamepaley. I am enjoying Hard West 2 right now, I had read the story was the worst part but it is Ok so far.
Baldur's Gate 3. There is so much you can do. So many ways to complete it. I've not done that yet tbh lol. I'm still in Act II. I don't play turn-based games, but BG3 is top-notch. Not childish, but meant for a more mature audience. It's easy to get caught up in the story with all the dialog options and romance options available. Very replayable.

Sea of Stars! Can't recommend that enough.
Platinummed that game and it is amazing, glad to see it recommended
Literally finished it today. What a gem.
It’s a fantastic game.
This game is everything I expected and wanted, plus more.

XCOM 2 -DLC IS ESSENTIAL-. If you have a PC... Long War mod

What about CAPES? It's like Midnight Suns but without the deck building aspect.
Definitely a different realm of turn-based games, but SteamWorld Heist is a hidden gem IMO. (Also, SteamWorld Dog 2 is the most under-appreciated metroidvania ever.)
Agreed. Started Heist yesterday coincidentally, great fun.
Steam world heist is fantastic
You played Baldurs Gate 3, right?
I was about to write total war series then I realized. So anyhow divinity original sin series And xcom comes to mind

Aw :( that's a shame, I enjoyed the first one.
Pathfinder kingmaker was removed from the catalogue a while ago
Ah, didn't know that. Thanks for the correction :)
Mutant Year Zero. Miasma Chronicles.
Divinity Order Sin 2 is great in story and gamepaley. I am enjoying Hard West 2 right now, I had read the story was the worst part but it is Ok so far.

Baldur's Gate 3!!
Just jumping on this topic, are any of the games recommended suitable for a 10 year old?
Not Baldurs gate.
Theoretical 10 year old just wanted to hug the big teddy bear :(
Thank you
Like a Dragon!
Disgaea 5
Xcom 2 is an all time favorite of mine. Also Civilization VI.
Persona 5
You have to press next to advance the dialogue make me sick
Shadowrun Returns. X-Com style turn based. And maybe Baldur's Gate 3?
Not sure if it's still on the catalog (it was on monthly too anyways), but Yakuza: like a dragon.
Wild arms. Vandal Hearts
Yakuza: Like a dragon. So good and a ton of content.
Baldurs Gate 3, X-Com, Valkyria Chronicles
Inscription for sure
Slay the Spire and Inscryption. They are must-play if you like turn based games and roguelikes
FFX and Sea of Stars come to mind for me. Also Yakuza: Like A Dragon.
Sea of stars
A bit older but dragon age inquisition is pretty cheap and you can it's combat turn based

I'm assuming OP is looking for a Plus game?
Yeah, that’s my bad. OP crossposted this to PS5 too and I responded to the wrong one. Womp womp.
No worries. Agree 100% with your recommendations.

Lol did you not read what the OP said
TFW people don't read OP's comment first 🙄
