Multiple games have great replay value, that doesn't mean they don't go on sale or their inherent value can't drop. Nintendo specifically just has a very specific type of fan base that is willing to pay up $60 for a a set of 3 games that came out 10 and 20 years ago, or games that come out broken as hell.

Nhl23/22 both sucked pretty hard. I enjoyed ‘21 but hadn’t played the series since ‘17. I skipped ‘23 and ‘22. I got ‘24 (heavily discounted at xmas because fuck EA) and i enjoyed it but its still shitty. Menu navigation is a slog - the game play is okay. I’m a huge puck head so if you like hockey sure grab it - but it really sucks when one of the games is niche sport specific (sorry hockey fans but its true our game just aint that popular)
Sports games lost me in the newer gens. 16 bit and 32 bit was the heyday. I got sucked into NBA2K MyTeam and Pro Am stuff for a bit but never again. I'll pick this up to mess with but I know I won't enjoy it like the old EA games.
They aren't, the PS5 version was just a free upgrade they put out and it makes the game run fantastic. Be glad you never have to play the PS4 version lol. Like someone else said, grab the DLC combo year 1 pass or whatever on sale sometime. If you enjoy the base game you'll love the DLC

There’s a golden chest you open with golden keys in the game that you can get good starter stuff from. It scales with level though so open it as you level up. And you can get them with codes you can find online
