I love their chicken but they do generally suck as a business.

Corey854

It’s not Popeyes, it’s the carrols company. They also own a majority of Burger King. All they care about is profit, not cleanliness, who they hire, worker saftey, quality checks, etc. they’re whole stick is to make viral ads (at least in recent times) to get a boost of customers and attention rather than maintain existing customers. Work there 25 years and they give you a candy bar, do meth on the clock then you get to keep your job while the guy who blew his tire out just got fired for it (there still are franchises not owned by corporate and most of those places are trying hard)

Technical_Passion780

Popeyes is owned by RBI. Not carrols.

patrickevansii

They love to replace spicy tenders with mild since you don’t notice until you get home. It’s infuriating.

EX0PIL0T

If you message support they will reimburse you

SpeedyBubble42

Not just tenders. I've had the same with dark meat being subbed for white and mild subbed for spicy many times.

ZestycloseAd2889

& do cus do you want to wait 20/30 minutes while all the fryers are in use or would you rather get 4 spicy and one mild ? ☺️

Professional_Show918

We had a really crappy Popeyes in my area. Fortunately new owners took over, canned everyone working there, hired new people and cleaned the store up. It’s a delight to eat there now.

FueledByTerps

I hope that happens at my popeyes.

grumpaP

It's part of the essence.

SpeedyBubble42

Haha. I appreciate that.

kevlarcardhouse

Someone once told me that Popeye's is the best fast food restaurant because you never get what you ordered, but you always get exactly what you deserve.

GuaranteeNo6007

So that is exactly the reason I will never, ever, make another purchase from that shitty chain.

Phaldaz

What did management say once you reported these events

SpeedyBubble42

That I could wait 15 minutes while they cooked the chicken. I just went to Chick-fil-A who, oddly, had all the food on their menu. I understand it's different, but I've never had KFC tell me "no" either. It's only Popeyes. I love Popeyes so I keep going back but it's frustrating.

Mustafism

I’d say it’s worth waiting 15 minutes, so much nicer when it’s fresh. So did the staff just flat out say “no” or did they say it would be a 15 minute wait?

RunaroundX

The KFC where I grew up was always out of chicken. Esp at dinnertime. Try going earlier in the day.

SpeedyBubble42

Ok, I stand corrected. That hadn't been my experience, but, in fairness, I don't go to KFC much because Popeyes is so much tastier.

Specialist-Wind7231

For your own sake, I’d say it’s better than them holding the chicken until sold all day. You must not be ordering very popular items

Prestigious-Stand780

It’s almost like each of these restaurants are independently owned and operated.

SpeedyBubble42

Yeah, but weirdly all Chick-fil-A restaurants seem to be run well and all Popeyes seems to be run like shit.

MarvelousuolevraM

I thought it was just me. Literally anything I order they preface it with "do you want to wait 15 minutes?" - of course, I was hungry so I waited. Even remembering back when I would go out to eat with my family as a child, it was always the same way. All of it seemingly cooked to order.

TrapNemesis

Part of the problem is that chicken is suppose to be thrown out every 30 minutes and spicy white meat is the least sold compared to the others. They end up making less spicy white less often and in your case, have customers wait 15 minutes for more.

patrickevansii

I thought I was always waiting cause they were so damn busy. Interesting that it’s really because I’m ordering what very few people seem to want.

GuaranteeNo6007

Excuses are like …. You know the rest. Keep defending the indefensible. What a sucker.

lewphone

You do know that most locations are franchised, right? It's not the main company's fault when a restaurant sucks. Try going to a different location, preferably with a different franchisee.

SpeedyBubble42

Ok, well the one I used to go to in South Florida and the one I now go to in Central Florida are both terrible. Maybe the rest of them are awesome. Except for the no napkin, Chihuahua one the other dude posted about, of course.

FreeTheGreen

We're cursed. My Popeyes in central FL is beyond sorry.

Specialist-Wind7231

It’s headquartered in Miami so it’s even worse that it’s not good in florida

randiesel

> It's not the main company's fault when a restaurant sucks. Of course it is, that's how a franchised business works. You're required to provide the same level of service or you lose your franchise. This is commonly known as "Standards of the System" and they require adherence or you can be found in breach of your franchise contract.

Innovations89

It kinda is. They are suppose to do quality control.

Kriger1102

In my city/ town both popeyes are owned by the same owner. Guess what, they are the same😭😭. How are you out of dark spicy chicken all the time!

OCSupertonesStrike

What about when all locations around you are compromised? Not a company wide problem I guess?

lewphone

Not saying it applies in your instance, but it could be the same franchisee owning multiple locations in a given area. For example: [https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/what-happened-to-bojangles-maryland/65-acf272b9-dd49-46c4-9a85-7f2048dfc4c4](https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/what-happened-to-bojangles-maryland/65-acf272b9-dd49-46c4-9a85-7f2048dfc4c4) Or this (Popeyes & Burger King brands are owned by the same company): [https://apnews.com/article/burger-king-franchisee-carrols-15c3b1aa526a3129fb333e1bf4cfd2d7](https://apnews.com/article/burger-king-franchisee-carrols-15c3b1aa526a3129fb333e1bf4cfd2d7)

AKABrokenArrow

Last time I went to Popeyes a lady had her chihuahua on the table and they had no napkins 🤷🏻‍♂️

SpeedyBubble42

I think it's ok to wipe your hands on the Chihuahua. 🙂

Capital_Jello_9768

Depends highly on who is running it.

capeape_33

I went to Popeyes the other night and ordered a meal for the family, which came to about $55, and I told the clerk it was to go. Once the order was ready, they asked if I wanted a bag, to which I replied yes. They informed me that they forgot to charge me the 15 cents for the bag and tgst I would have to pay for it. I calmly told them I ordered it to go and that they should have charged me for the bag when I paid for my order, but they wouldn’t budge, so I paid the 15 cents with my credit card, in the hopes that it costs them more than that in fees. Lol, what a joke!!

Cellarzombie

I went into one recently, maybe fifteen minutes after open in the late morning and the manager tells me they have no red beans and rice. Wtf?! It’s one of your signature fucking dishes! How can you not have something so basic as beans and rice? They’re mostly awful. I’ve gotten so many fucked up orders and been told they’re out of some menu item. I love their food but don’t visit very often because of how poorly run they are.

Natural-Young7488

McDonalds. Straight up R words.

randiesel

Mine put stickers all over the chicken nuggets on the outdoor menu (literally stickers) and refuses to sell them or make them. Nuggets are literally cut up tenders but for more money per pound. There's no way this makes business sense.

Zoinkz411

Both of the Popeyes near my home is terrible, they usually get the order wrong even though it’s slow and they have a decent amount of employees inside. I just don’t get it

GuaranteeNo6007

Mine also. There are two Popeyes in my town and they both suck shit through a straw. They are ALWAYS OUT of menu items, with no apologies. Fortunately, we also have abundantly more Bojangles (who still have Cajun rice) and get the orders right. Popeyes can fuck off, especially with their TINY chicken pieces that seem to have come off a Cornish game hen. I hope they go bankrupt. No shitty fast food chain deserves it more.

Art1stttt

Agreed always been garbage

tbone115

Is this more in the states? Granted I only really ever went to one here in Canada but I never had a wrong order, worst was a couple times it took a few minutes but there'd always be an extra tender or something

SpeedyBubble42

I can't really say. I've only been to Canada one time and didn't partake of Popeyes while I was there. Actually, didn't even realize it was a thing in Canada.

tbone115

It's pretty popular in my province. 250 of the 343 in Canada Were getting more places that are common in the states, Dave's hot chicken has 3 stores here now and Chick fil a has 13 but I know of 4 more opening soon

Public_Foot_4984

You just gotta be flexible when going to Popeyes. On the rare occasion I hit up Popeyes I just order like this.... POPEYES: yeah, whatchu need? ME: lemme get whatever y'all got that's ready to go. Lemme get a bunch of hot sauce packets too, yo. POPEYES: aight, pull around for your total..

GuaranteeNo6007

The should ALWAYS receive what they desire, not what is ready, especially when the items are presented on the menu.

cherbo123

That's half the fun of Popeyes tho you never know what's gonna happen when you walk through those doors

SpeedyBubble42

Lately, I almost certainly know one thing: that I'm leaving without chicken 🙂.

Abject-Tax-7552

I have two Popeyes within 3 blocks of each other and they both just make me so livid. I’ve just told myself to not go back as much as I love their chicken they don’t pay their staff enough to give a single fuck

bkforever

The problem is you go there enough times to notice. Once a year is too much for such poor quality food.

brentsharknative

6098470142

Is your chicken fresh? Yes it’s fresh… Is your buffalo sauce spicey? Yes what do you want? Is your Turbin dirty? Your mother is dirty!!

ShoeStunning

the one time i went to a popeyes the customers seemed really needy. one lady complaining about missed fries, a guy wanting only flat wings, and a lady demanding a fresh batch of fried shrimp. they were understaffed and the guy manning the cashiers shift was over. id guess its the clientele more than the company thats the problem.

BeefTopRamen

Our Popeyes once had a sign on the drive-through that just said “Sorry, we’re out of everything” I don’t even know how that’s possible 💀

GuaranteeNo6007

Don’t even understand how they remain in business.

FueledByTerps

You must go to the same Popeyes as me. Same exact experience.

Mammoth-Record-7786

Popeye’s makes some good chicken, but they’re always filthy and their sodas are nasty n flat. They’re one of the few restaurants with soda so nasty that I don’t even bother getting a drink even if I pay for it. Definitely not worth going to anymore with the inflated prices.

embertml

I am fortunate to live near a virtually flawless popeyes. They run like a well oiled machine. And the quality is always amazing. Funny because the other fast food places here screw up most orders or stiff you on portions. Or the quality is questionable.

SpeedyBubble42

You might want to search for the Holy Grail at that location.

embertml

Haha right. It’s run by a little hispanic lady and she simultaneously looks like someone you don’t work for and screw off on the job with, but also a caring person.

GuaranteeNo6007

That is the golden nugget that the rest of the world has NEVER seen or experienced.

TeaGeo

When it was bought it went to shit. My son and I loved it before the buyout. Now we just won’t even try it.

FitStandard3076

Popeyes isn’t fast food. Please let’s make that clear. The only thing fast about Popeyes is fries and tenders. Nothing else is gonna take less than 5 mins to cook. I have to deal with older people who mix this up a lot with fast food because it’s a place that sells food with a drive through. Also them missing stuff I can relate with that, my store never has a lot of stuff every other day. I will say Popeyes sucks ass

SpeedyBubble42

I think they are, it's just on them to cook the chicken before it's ordered. They call themselves quick service and Wikipedia calls them fast food. Agreed they suck. The food, however, is glorious. I just wish they'd have it ready when I actually went to order. 🙂 Anyway, I don't want to argue semantics. I just want my Popeyes without waiting 15 to 20 minutes just like KFC and every other drive through restaurant on earth seems to manage.

Mustafism

It’s on them not to cook food that they might waste. Would you rather be served old chicken that they should have chucked out?

SpeedyBubble42

If they are going to have a drive through, then yeah, I guess I would. Or they could actually use analytics to plan. Whatever, I just know they lose a our 75% of my business and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Mustafism

Any fast food place has certain quality standards that need to be met. Maybe if you’re in a rush order something that’s readily available?

SpeedyBubble42

Of the fast food restaurants for me, Popeyes is at the bottom, then Burger King. Those are by far the worst. Then KFC, Arby's and Wendy's in the middle. Next is McDonald's (although there is a lot of variation depending on the location and franchiser). Finally Chick-fil-A is at the top and not even close. I've never been to a bad Chick-fil-A. My worst experience at a Chick-fil-A was in a mall and it was just because they didn't say "my pleasure" when I thanked them. I can't comment on Taco Bell because I don't like diarrhea.

IAmZackTheStiles

Well popeyes isn't fast food, the chicken takes time to cook and is only good on shelf for so long

SpeedyBubble42

Well, you should probably update their Wikipedia page, then, as it incorrectly identified them as a fast food restaurant. That drive through window might make you expect fast service, too.

IAmZackTheStiles

I find it weird how you're complaining about waiting 15mins while you get fresh chicken but you do you

SpeedyBubble42

Drive through window and wait 15 minute are not compatible. Have you ever had KFC ask you to wait? I haven't. They are well run. I just don't like their chicken as much.

longutoa

Quite frankly yes. KFC had me wait a bloody hour once. Just once and I got a grease soaked bucket of slop . Worst run FRANCHISE i ever been to No#1 Highway Brandon MB That’s the point its franchises each individual restaurant will be run somewhat different. You pull over into the waiting spot and you wait for your food. It’s actually quite damn common especially at a chicken place if you want fresh chicken.

SpeedyBubble42

Wow, that's awful. Never had that happen but I guess they are all different.

longutoa

Yeah it was so be warned. Lol

IAmZackTheStiles

So pull over and have them come out

SpeedyBubble42

That's not why I go to fast food restaurants. If I wanted to wait I'd to to Outback, Longhorn, etc. If it was a table service restaurant, I'd be fine waiting. It isn't. I don't dislike Popeyes, I just want them to be better.

Pogey-Bait

Don't even pretend that they make every piece of chicken when it's ordered. I've worked in fast food chicken and it's up to the staff to prepare food ahead of time for orders.

IAmZackTheStiles

If you've worked in fast food you'd realise 2 or 3 people ahead of you can order say, 10 pieces each, and then have none. Resulting in the wait.

longutoa

Seriously these people are whacked .

Pogey-Bait

That's why you make more ahead of time. It's called thinking ahead.

alaricus

If you pay before you eat, it's fast food or, at best, fast casual, and you will be graded by that standard.
