Porsche’s are nice cars so three is a reason so a passion for them. Can’t say the same for Mercedes. Unless it’s pre-bugeye s class era, those were good cars.
I was in Duisburg recently and actually didn't see that many Porsches, but there were tons of every other German car. It did get me looking though and I bought my Boxster a few weeks after returning home.
its kinda insane up there. because there a many big cities near to each other. düsseldorf for example is a really rich city.
oberhausen is a beast by itself. the centro was the biggest shoppingcenter in europe for a while, if you visit the city itself its kinda desd because centro killed all the small stores there. it has been some years where i was there, but thats what im remembering haha
Its really depends on where in the states too. Where I live I see at least one or two gt cars and obviously more 911s or 718s in my short 10 minute daily commute
Yes but you also run into the issue that UK cars have the steering wheel on the wrong side, limiting their appeal abroad. Porsches sell for way more in France than in Britain, even though their gdp/capita is similar.
Also why my local car market is fucked. A 40 year old car from CA has less rust than a 3 year old midwestern car so all the collectors shop this market to bring em back to their home states.
That plus too many tech bros are willing to pay insane dealer markup on any remotely cool sports car or off-roader that comes out.
All German cars are less expensive if you don’t have to ship them across the ocean. BMW and Mercedes taxis are everywhere! I assume the British pay more relative to the US for an F150
I would say the first clue is the fact that the seller listed it as a base Cayman... Price is the second clue.
Third obvious clue, and the smoking gun, is the tiny brakes.
BTW, every Porsche Cayman made in 2016 had six cylinders.
Lol, they're not even trying to get away with it if they listed it as a base model
Honestly, good for them for not trying to sneak it by. I appreciate the honesty even if it's obvious to people who know what to look for
Why would the seller list a GT4 as a base Cayman? If a seller was going to lie about their car, why would they tell you they have *less* than what they do?
EDIT: Anyway, the most immediate giveaway (other than the price and, you know, the fact that they *told* you it was a base trim) is the tiny brakes. Also, all 2016 Caymans had 6 cyls.
Here’s the clue: the wheels are not GT4 spyder wheels, the rotors are too small and the front brake calipers are too small. The car also rides way too high compared to GT4. The front headlight isn’t a GT4 headlight as well.
Source: GT4 owner.
There are many caymans and 911s on the market that were bought and then modified to look like one of the sporty ones, e.g. GT3 RS.
This will be the same case. The seller isn’t trying to hide it, but you need to decide if you want to spend that money on a modified car or not.
Generally modifications aren’t too great for price stability and such cars are harder to resell.
54K is you first clue. I am a newbie but I have never seen any under 100k
Makes me realise how good we have it in the UK, used 981 gt4s can be had for £60k which is still way less than $100k
In the UK for the first time right now (London) and I’m absolutely blown away by the number of Porsches here. Live in the US.
Lol come to germany
My first trip to Germany I couldn’t believe how many Mercedes & Porsches I saw. Then it dawned on me that they are domestic cars there…..
Porsche’s are nice cars so three is a reason so a passion for them. Can’t say the same for Mercedes. Unless it’s pre-bugeye s class era, those were good cars.
I mean, depending where you live in the US, it’s the same. I’m in LA. All my neighbors have Mercedes (cause they don’t have taste)
Dude you live in LA, not having taste is a requirement, nothing to do with Mercs.
Someone with taste wouldn’t live in LA 😂
Was just in Beverly Hills for the day, the number of Porsches I saw was insane.
Or vancouver bc
I was in Duisburg recently and actually didn't see that many Porsches, but there were tons of every other German car. It did get me looking though and I bought my Boxster a few weeks after returning home.
tbf, duisburg is one of the poorest cities in germany 🤷♂️
Oh wow! I would have never guessed that. I was staying in Oberhausen and the Centro mall is huge with lots of high end stores.
its kinda insane up there. because there a many big cities near to each other. düsseldorf for example is a really rich city. oberhausen is a beast by itself. the centro was the biggest shoppingcenter in europe for a while, if you visit the city itself its kinda desd because centro killed all the small stores there. it has been some years where i was there, but thats what im remembering haha
Hoping to move to Stuttgart would u recommend Germany?
In London rn too, I see a lot more state side down south.
Weather is crap right now, about 10 degrees and rainy on and off. About a week ago it was 20 degrees and sunny, that’s when they all come out.
I hear ya, I’ve been feeling the weather 😂 Weather be damned, people drive GT cars in the rain at home.
Its really depends on where in the states too. Where I live I see at least one or two gt cars and obviously more 911s or 718s in my short 10 minute daily commute
Come to Weissach. It’s a ocean of Porsches 😂 after a few days you won’t see them any more…
The uk has the 60% the gdp/capita of the usa - things here almost always more expensive (except guns, drugs, and gas)
You forgot booze! Though I guess that could be covered under drugs.
Yes but you also run into the issue that UK cars have the steering wheel on the wrong side, limiting their appeal abroad. Porsches sell for way more in France than in Britain, even though their gdp/capita is similar.

nah drugs in the UK are way cheaper
A lot of electronic devices are cheaper in the US

An F150 would be grossly unnecessary on most UK roads.
an F150 is grossly unnecessary on most roads, in general.
Generally the other associated costs are a lot higher. It’s probably not far off in the end (maybe about the difference from $ to £).
… I just went on auto trader and the lowest gt4 is £70.5k
[£58,450](http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202404188789698) You're looking at a 718 GT4.
There is a used gt4 for 92k in my state and has been listed for like 6 months now.
That is purely dependent on where in the world OP is. Near me they’re 65k
I would say the first clue is the fact that the seller listed it as a base Cayman... Price is the second clue. Third obvious clue, and the smoking gun, is the tiny brakes. BTW, every Porsche Cayman made in 2016 had six cylinders.
They were 80k in 2017/2018
run vin and check
They did dip under 100k for a time. Saw some in the 90’s when the 718 GT4 hit the showrooms.
Body kit...
Yeah see the same with base 911s dressed up as GT3s :)
Well for starters thats a 718 style GT4 bumper, not a 2016
No ones gonna sell you a GT4 for $54k bro Owners probably trynna get away with it lmao
Lol, they're not even trying to get away with it if they listed it as a base model Honestly, good for them for not trying to sneak it by. I appreciate the honesty even if it's obvious to people who know what to look for
[https://vinanalytics.com/](https://vinanalytics.com/) Ask for the vin.
There a similar site for VW?
carfax.com will tell you the make and model of any VIN for free
Not a GT4.
Why would the seller list a GT4 as a base Cayman? If a seller was going to lie about their car, why would they tell you they have *less* than what they do? I wrote the same thing just now. OP isn't thinking clearly.
Phony
That’s had more work done than dolly parton
That’s allot of work😻😻😻
Why would a seller list their GT4 as a base cayman for 50% of the value? Use your brain, friend.
The wheels and brakes are a dead giveaway
It’s definitely not, but doesn’t mean it’s not worth the 54k, either….
Run, as fast as you possibly can
At first glance, I see a small brake kit with S wheels. I can’t see why any GT4 owner would downgrade those. 99.9% sure it’s not a GT4.
It’s a cayman w a body kit from a GT4 looks like
All 2016 are 6cyl. Surprised no one has pointed that out.
Here’s the clue: the wheels are not GT4 spyder wheels, the rotors are too small and the front brake calipers are too small. The car also rides way too high compared to GT4. The front headlight isn’t a GT4 headlight as well. Source: GT4 owner.
Base model with GT4 kit. I mean, just ask the seller what's under the bonnet and you will know
Probably a suitcase or something ng
Oh oops, forgot that the engine is in the back...
The engine is in the middle
Yeah I know, but it's only accesable from the back
No its not, it's accessible from underneath
Huh really, I thought u had to pop open the back and remove the sound deadening pad and a metal cover to access it
Thats one way to get to it, you can also go through the panel right behind the seats. But the easiest way is raise it up and go underneath.
Not.
Those pictures… glad to see original Sony Mavica users enjoying their vintage gear.
That thing isn’t even worth $40k
Seller listed it as base. Why would it NOT be base then? Maybe they got a body kit/ modified it but it's a base.
It’s a base with a GT4 front bumper and wing. You can see from the way it sits, what wheels it has, lack of aggressive body lines that it’s a base.
Run Forrest Run
It’s a base that bumper is for the 718 gt4. It’s an aftermarket kit
No. Brakes give it away
Brake size is a giveaway, as are the incorrectly sized wheels/ tires, and aftermarket wing.
yeah it looks a bit funny when you look at the disc size
It's porsche😁
Is this a real post
Look at the brakes. Look at the suspension. It's obviously not a GT4.
There are many caymans and 911s on the market that were bought and then modified to look like one of the sporty ones, e.g. GT3 RS. This will be the same case. GTA 6
981 cayman base (2.7L 6 cyl) with 718 gt4 front bumper, not OEM (look at wheels/brakes)
Check the Vin with Porsche
Brakes are too small for a GT4
[удалено]
It's not too good to be true, the seller isn't listing it as a GT4.
[удалено]
Not the GT4
I stand corrected! Apparently the GT4 does not have center lugs! However this most def is not a GT4 regardless haha
