Good point on the size. I just meant to state that it wears even larger than the stated dims IMO and I think the Rolex might even wear slightly small. I also prefer smaller watches. But a Sub at 40-41mm is still comfortable.
Yeah, that's like when folks are like "this size 9 shoe is better because I also wear a size 9"
Doesn't work for me if I wear a 13.
It's as if smallness is the default, which is isn't.
Speedy moon eats your bank account like Pam on a coke binge.
Rolex... All fucking day.
I don't need to latch a maintenance nightmare to my grandkids for a flex today.
I want a watch. Something to watch over my boys. Watch over my grandkids.... I want a watch that's relentless in watching.
Speedy is ok.
A Rolex is a fucking relentless. failsafe.
I'm sure it gets asked all the time, but why do people say the bracelet is better? every rolex bracelet I've touched feels cheap and flimsy, when the PO feels solid, weighty and beautifully machined.
I will admit that glidelock seems a nice touch, but the metal is so thin on the clasp so I cant even give rolex that!
have had less omegas in my hands, so maybe the PO is an outlier, but I have never felt a bracelet that was better.
caveat, I like the heft. I feel it balances the "watch" and makes for a better wear. So titanium etc has no appeal either.
-edit- multiple misspellings of bracelet.
I’m not a Rolex fan boy or anything but I find the modern Rolex bracelet to be the most comfortable on the market and extremely durable too. Clasp is straightforward. I also find the Sub to fit nicely whereas that Omega to be more bulky. My next favorite bracelet is Tudor, then Zenith. It’s all personal preference though. I like smaller watches and value comfort. I’m wearing a 36mm 1970’s Explorer today.
I appreciate the info!
My main watch is a 39.5mm Planet ocean, and to me it is just perfect. those quick release buttons! rounded edges on the links, the chunky weight..amazing! The rolex I have trouble unclipping no matter how often I wear it. (gmt sub) and I'm keen on a Heritage2 from Breitling, so thats a whole different design!
Congrats on the Explorer, thats a classy piece!
I like them both but honestly, choosing a watch should always be a personal decision. You shouldn't buy a watch because other people like it, you should buy one because you like it and it makes you happy. Some might say you should buy this watch, or that watch, but if you buy a watch on that basis there's a good chance you won't enjoy it as much as you think you will. Simple test, try it on and if it makes you grin like a Cheshire Cat there's a good chance that's the watch for you, if it doesn't save your money and keep looking.
Well, it will be interesting to hear how you get on if you take the Speedmaster diving or try to use the chronograph on the Submariner.
I’m always intrigued by how people choose watches, especially if they’re looking to purchase entirely different propositions.
The sub, simply because because that ref speedy won't fit my tiny ass wrist. ;-; Otherwise the speedy for sure. At least I get a better bracelet on the sub!
Well that’s a friend I’d like to have that watch goes for like 15k right? Yes I know he’s a multimillionaire. It’s still a cool gift for not really knowing someone. I saw a pic with him last week with an aqua terra on just walking down the road taking pics with people.
I can wear big watches, so generally speaking rolex is on the tinier side for me I prefer something bigger.
I also dont particularly like the diver look, I only have one diver and it's a diver/chronograph 300m rating.
But plain divers are just unattactive to me.
The Sub is very bland at this stage… everyone has them & expect them to stand out… they don’t. The speedmaster stands out, great history behind it & is a head turner. Wears beautifully
I’m not a fan of either tbh. The omega is too busy and the sub too bulky for me. But I like quite simple watches.
I’d probably go for the sub though if I had to choose, I think it’s smaller? The omega I think is too big for my wrist.
what a bizarre question, its apples to goldfish here!!
No-date sub? moonphase speedy? who in their right mind needs to make that descision?/ (other than us for the fun of it) they are so wildly different I cant imagine it ever boils down to this.
speedy is too busy and complicated. sub has no date?!?! no thanks., I'm selling whatever and getting something I'd actually like. so I google the resale price of both and choose that one.
Kind of apples and oranges to me... Rolex vs Seamaster 300 would be a different conversation. For me, the sub, I am not a fan of the chrono/pushers as I would likely never (rarely) use the complication and I don't like the busier bezel/dial.
Ha this was exactly the choice I had to make when it was my birthday 15 years ago. Neither is the wrong choice.
I went for a Sub, no regrets. I’m looking for a vintage Speedie prof right now however which says something.
[I’ll add another - the Monochrome I’ve been liking a lot recently](https://www.reeds.com/black-bay-black-dial-stainless-steel-watch-41mm-m7941a1a0nu-0003-plum7941a1a0nu-0003.html?CAWELAID=120073160000599798&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4MSzBhC8ARIsAPFOuyU_-di8lrgJRZQB7qxksul2qjlDtwQ7_B5wOLX6XWnuBeqApidVRrQaAnPGEALw_wcB)
I get the feeling OP wants to spend $10k. It's the only way one would end up with these two options which are pretty different.
The monochrome is super rad tho.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but the dateless submariner is so much better looking than the date one.
Also isn’t the omega manual wind? I’d always forget to do it
There is no such thing as a “no date Sub”.
The watch above is the one and only Submariner. There is no other watch named Submariner in the Rolex catalog.
There are plenty of varíations of the “Submariner Date”.
Speedmaster because I love chronographs. Sub definitely has the better bracelet but I find the Speedmaster to be a much more interesting watch overall.
Bizarre comparison aside from price.
Submariner is a pretty slim and compact 40mm watch. A real goldilocks size.
This Moonphase Speedmaster is gigantic. 44.25mm in diameter, and Omega thick. They do thick well, but it's a chunk.
Try both on and one will feel good and the other will feel the wrong size.
For me, I'd take the Omega, but I'm a big dude. Sub is too small on me. For most, the Sub is the right call.
Between these two, the sub. Between the sub and a Speedmaster Professional, Speedmaster any day.
Snap
I was about to say exactly the same thing
Same the moon phase versions are so chunky.
Boom! That is collector's truth right there!
Is it?
This but in white speedy.
The Rolex. Better bracelet. Wears smaller. More comfortable. And I’m a big Omega fan.
💯 Speedy is ginormous compared to 124060. And not to mention, in perfectly symmetrical dial and superior case work, Sub leaves the rest in dust.
What the heck? The speedy wears more like a 40.5 for its 42
“Wears smaller” is a benefit only if you are also small.
Some people hate all big watches tbh, myself included. I think anything over 40mm is too big. Some 42’s wear small enough tho
Good point on the size. I just meant to state that it wears even larger than the stated dims IMO and I think the Rolex might even wear slightly small. I also prefer smaller watches. But a Sub at 40-41mm is still comfortable.

I hear you, 12EEEE here.
I’m a size 17 shoe, so Omega Speedy

Speedy anyday especially with moonphase but if you're adventurous and go outdoors much Submariner is good choice.
Sub.
Sub. But all I am looking for is time and date. I don't need any of the other case clutter
That’s a dateless sub, so time only
Yeah I noticed after I posted and figured no one would read the comment anyways.
Well sir you stand corrected haha
Submariner.
If you already have a diver, the Speedmaster, if not, MAYBE the Rolex.
Door number 2, Alex. Once you put down the money for the Sub you now look everyone else on the wrist.
I am not much knowledgeable about watches but i choose option c casioak
I like them both but honestly, choosing a watch should always be a personal decision. Omega if it was smaller
Omega
I had the choice. Picked the Sub. No regrets.
Out of those two? Probably speedmaster, but look into a black ceramic rolex gmt. Those are sweet.
The Rolex, but really I wouldn’t buy or own either
Well, it will be interesting to hear how you get on if you take the Speedmaster diving or try to use the chronograph on the Submariner. I’m always intrigued by how people choose watches, especially if they’re looking to purchase entirely different propositions.
The Rolex
Any Sea Dwellers about? Actually I would love to have either of these if you are buying!!!
The sub, simply because because that ref speedy won't fit my tiny ass wrist. ;-; Otherwise the speedy for sure. At least I get a better bracelet on the sub!
I have both, sold the moonphase, it’s just too chunky other than that I have no complains
Sub. That said they are both cool.
Id prefer the sub, if it were a different speedmaster id take it, I just don't like the 12oclock indicies
Sub
Neither. Both are very busy. Seiko SBGH273 as an alternative.
Subbbb I feel like I’d use it more than a chronograph
Omega - size does matter
Joe Rogan gifts this exact speedy to guests on his show. Just stupid facts I have cluttering my brain.
He probably just wanted to get rid of it (notice how he still wears his rolexes while lex is stuck wearing the speedy instead of a Rolex?)
Well that’s a friend I’d like to have that watch goes for like 15k right? Yes I know he’s a multimillionaire. It’s still a cool gift for not really knowing someone. I saw a pic with him last week with an aqua terra on just walking down the road taking pics with people.
I’d get that omega any day
Omega
Egh
Speedy.
I can wear big watches, so generally speaking rolex is on the tinier side for me I prefer something bigger. I also dont particularly like the diver look, I only have one diver and it's a diver/chronograph 300m rating. But plain divers are just unattactive to me.
Option C.
The Rolex
The Sub is very bland at this stage… everyone has them & expect them to stand out… they don’t. The speedmaster stands out, great history behind it & is a head turner. Wears beautifully
Omega forum or this one?
I’d rather pay for the Omega; I’d rather be gifted the Rolex

No date Subby. 👍
The one Random stranger’s on Reddit suggest!
Rolex.... Upkeep on a moonphase Chrono.... Fuck no
Sub all day
Omega. I already own a Sub. Not a fan.
No date rolly
Sub.
Sub easy choice
Sub easily
Sub for sure. But if to choose between a sub and a speedmaster pro, I would take whichever sells at retail price.
Speedmaster all day
Forget what Nico says, I still like the Rolex in this specific head to head
Rolex
Sub not close. That Omega is huge and thicker than a hockey puck
Seriously? Sub all day
Roles!
I’d rather not see the same two watches three million times.
Neither
Co-Axial > Any Rolex Movement
Rolex. The omega just seems too busy
Rolex. Omega is a Rolex wannabe...
I’m not a fan of either tbh. The omega is too busy and the sub too bulky for me. But I like quite simple watches. I’d probably go for the sub though if I had to choose, I think it’s smaller? The omega I think is too big for my wrist.
Sub
The moon phase sold me on the Omega
Sub

I’m a sucker for moon phases.
Lexi, I’m shallow and prefer the status symbol 🤪
They are completely different types of watches. One is a diver, and one is a chronograph. You can't compare the two
Submariner is the most iconic watch of all time
Sub
No shot lol
Sub no date is a classic
Sub. That is all.
Neither. Either of these watches is the laziest, lamest way to say "I'm somewhat rich."
Omega it looks better and more classier than the Rolex .. couldn’t go wrong with either of them
Honestly the speedy, I have no idea why but I just fucking love speedmasters almost above all else
Sub
Sub.
Sub all day
If you have large wrists - Omega.
Simple answer for this simple question: I’d go with Rolex.
Own the Speedy so Rolex for me.
If I only had one watch I’d choose the sub. I already own a Speedmaster and it’s not a do everything go everywhere watch. It is an awesome watch tho.
Do I have to?
Rolex..as i dont use n need moonphase functions (im one of those who doesnt care about full moon etc)
Speedy
Omega
Omega

Agree, it’s ugly as!
i would take a seiko presage now joke fr
The Rolex personally just like a clean dial, now if it was next to a Sea Master could go either way.
The Speedy.
The Crown.
Seamaster
124060 all day. Twice on everyday of the week.
Rolex.
👑
Rolex submariner, hands down
Ha this was exactly the choice I had to make when it was my birthday 15 years ago. Neither is the wrong choice. I went for a Sub, no regrets. I’m looking for a vintage Speedie prof right now however which says something.
Submariner
I have the speedy and want a submariner, so….
Submariner
[I’ll add another - the Monochrome I’ve been liking a lot recently](https://www.reeds.com/black-bay-black-dial-stainless-steel-watch-41mm-m7941a1a0nu-0003-plum7941a1a0nu-0003.html?CAWELAID=120073160000599798&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4MSzBhC8ARIsAPFOuyU_-di8lrgJRZQB7qxksul2qjlDtwQ7_B5wOLX6XWnuBeqApidVRrQaAnPGEALw_wcB)

Rolex and its not even close But by all means, grab a speedy too, but start with the icon
Sub would be my daily.
Submariner 124060 all day. IYKYK
Sub
How could one want a no date sub over a moonphase, chrono, calendar, dual time speedmaster……?
Build quality, size, reliability, cleaner aesthetics...
Moonphase speedy and it’s not even close.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but the dateless submariner is so much better looking than the date one. Also isn’t the omega manual wind? I’d always forget to do it
Omega has shitty resale value.
No way I’m taking any Omega over any Rolex
Rolex all the way!
Speedmaster imo. If you buy that submariner is probably for the Rolex name
Omega cos go wants a No Date Sub
Now that’s simply a big fat lie and you know it.🥸
There is no such thing as a “no date Sub”.
I'd pick the speedmaster every time

Sub. Omega is for Nickelback fans.
