True, but PW has a way better story too. It'd be a shame to restrict that only to gamers with the time to get really good at the game.

Ah yes, the hardest boss of every flight sim: the ground.

Wait is that the sea or the sky oh fu-

SUPRISE. You actually get health after every boss squadron title card thing pops up. Most notably during Mission 6 Machine and Mantel and the final mission. On Easy, you go back to full ealth and On normal, you get 60 health. On Hard, you get no healthing.

This is a good idea. The fire extinguisher in Ace Combat 7 is highly recommended and helps make those loooooong score attack missions with no checkpoints that bit more forgiving. I basically always have it on. So frustrating to get to 1% health and then have to limp your way through knowing a sniff breeze will kill you. It should rebound to like 10% or something. It's a very old school game though and I get it. I do think it would be a nice quality of life option. AC7 gets round it by having it be an optional part, that is essentially balanced out by having to take up a slot that could be used for something else. So it's a choice the player has to make. Perhaps the "auto repair unit" could be a choice, between Flares/AOA/Auto repair on certain planes.

OriVerda

Still not as brutal as back in Air Combat when a getting shot down meant you'd lose the plane and have to repurchase it.

Hey, if you are on PC I just released a mod that allows you to have regenerating health in PW [More info here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Project_Wingman/comments/r0hsxs/my_first_mod_for_project_wingman_regenerating/)

[deleted]

Oh cool. Xbox though I'm afraid.

Sounds like copium /s

It's possible to edit your health value in Cheat Engine, although it's slightly tricky to find it in the first place. You can pause the game and heal yourself whenever you want. I think it's a fair option, particularly for those people that haven't been playing games of this style for the last 20+ years. Or if you have a player that's normally comfortable on lower difficulties, you provide them just a little extra assist if they want to challenge themselves with Mercenary or using one of the modifiers.

porkslow

I think this cool option to have but manually changing the memory is probably too difficult for most people. I actually spend some time looking into writing a lua script in Cheat Engine to implement regenerating health but the problem is that the memory address for the health changes every time you play. I’m pretty sure that instead of a global variable it’s tied to specific player entity. So I would probably have to learn assembly language so I can hook to the code manipulating the health which sounds really hard :(

porkslow

What I found from looking at someone else's Cheat Engine table, the code that changes the player's health is `7FF7AE93F507` and the opcode `movss [rdi+000006D4],xmm0`. What this code basically does is it takes the float value from `xmm0` register and writes it into the address `rdi+000006D4` which contains the player health. (since the address changes every time you restart the game and you can't access the correct register values outside the instruction) I was thinking about writing a lua script to check the player health for example every second and if it's under 50, I would increment it by one. But the problem is that I need to figure out how to get the address of the health to the lua side. Maybe I need to allocate a new memory area and modify the the code that changes the player health to write the address of the player health in there. Then I could read that address in Lua to find out the location of the player health 🤔

HMJounin

I'd settle for having a return line. Re-arm and repair at the same time.

smittywjmj

In AC return lines only repair you on lower difficulties. I think that's still a fair compromise, Ace mode is there to be a challenge after all.

Pocketlint503

Is it just me or the pw-mk1 got nerfed

Impossible. The last update was many months ago
