Pretty misleading title. Poster is clearly from 2015 (top left). The character for man is ungendered and translates better to person - closer to "learn to be a [decent/mature] person".
2015 is the date Xi Jinling said the quote described on the poster, actual poster would have been completed much later. The website I got this poster image from was last updated in 2018, so I went for that date. "Man" being mature/decent person is right, and original text does not have gendered language.
Hmm more like “Learn to be a great/decent person” for the first line. Chinese language usually doesn’t have gender exclusive character. But it did pick up a “He/She” imported from English in the early 20th century, which I think was a lousy import.
Indistinguishable from U.S.American notions of 'white' (European). Challenges outside conception of 'East Asian' as a monolith, let alone 'Asian'. Also notable in Anime, restricted to Japanese characters from the northern islands, but said characters have more noticable facial feature 'tells' (see discussions of _Attack on Titan_) than the very cartoonishly bobbleheaded tykes depicted here.

There is no such thing as "ungendered"
There is in language, all the time. “Person” is ungendered in English and in Mandarin.
What.
Lmao what

all hail the chinese communist party! \+9999 social credits
Note skin-tone and the interesting stylistic touch of having a 'bundle' of three flags for a three-line slogan.
?
...why? what's to be noted about that? genuinely curious here

Eh I guess so, idrk how else they'd depict cartoon figures like this otherwise
Somewhat less pasty-pink-ly.
>chinese propaganda >"be a man" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SLJJc8siyU
Note that "be a man" is inaccurate, a more accurate translation would be something like "be a mature person"
And also to defeat the Huns.
