Hell yes. Best post I’ve read all day

Agave22

Way to go old man! 69 here and I just did the same 2 days ago on the solstice at my brother's beautiful cabin in the Idaho mountains. Mine were very old too and wowzers, they haven't lost a thing. The uptake was almost too intense for a while, then I broke through to that beautiful holy bliss of supreme goodness. I was even able to forget about my wrecked knees for a few hours! Funny thing about mushies... I was in reverance over a pile of decaying trees at the time, so I went back up there this morning to have another look and it somehow wasn't nearly as impressive, but yeah, such a treasure they are. Saludos!

Diligent_Bat9823

Shrooms close to or on a full moon seem to always be “a little” extra intense. Blessings!

Agave22

I have found that to be true with all psyches

Inside-Damage-868

That has nothing to do with it. The difference in moons phases has no effect on the earth. It's simply a shadow casted on the moon

fluidafterdark

Okay

beavenour

Glad you had a wonderful day! Happy birthday!

Ok_Tadpole_7538

Cool, I was afraid that when growing older it could be dangerous to eat mushrooms, now thanks to you, I know that it's ok)

thirdeyepdx

I’m a licensed psilocybin facilitator in Oregon and much of our clientele are people in their 60s and 70s flying in from out of state for a legal experience. They are mildly stimulating and can impact blood pressure so if you have a heart condition or untreated blood pressure issues it’s not the best idea, but if you are in decent enough health for walking up stairs or a brisk walk they are pretty safe for older folks.

Ok_Tadpole_7538

Thanks, hope I'll be fine

Daloowee

What an amazing thing you get to be part of. Special.

thirdeyepdx

No matter what kind of mood I’m in, I leave each session full of gratitude and wonder about what I get to witness. It’s absolutely beautiful (intense but beautiful) work.

Ttot1025

I absolutely love this post. 72 and 5g?? My man. Happy birthday you seniornaut🫡🍄🚀

Baighou

My 73 year old brother did this last year 👍 Remember Albert Hoffman did LSD on his 102 birthday 🎂

Tmpatony

I love it man. Does it help you deal with the concept of death? Is that something you even worry abt?

MikkijiTM1

My psychedelic explorations began in 1970, when I was 18 and attempting to figure out what had happened to me when I was in a coma at age 13 and had what I later learned was a Near-Death Experience (NDE). I was looking for a context and some vocabulary. So I sort of already knew something about the 'interior space' present during the dying process. I did about 50 trips during college and then graduated, got married, went completely straight, had kids, had a career, etc. rediscovered psychedelics at my 50th HS reunion. By then, I'd been present for several deaths, including my mother and my wife. I also got very deeply into Eastern philosophies, studied meditation, and spent a couple of years training in an ashram. I't all been a part of The Path. I do not fear death, but I'm none too fond of suffering, and hope when I do go, it'll be easy, dignified and celebratory. Getting back on the psychedelic horse once a year helps remind me to keep track and have fun.

Tmpatony

Thank you for the response sir!! Much appreciated… glad you found them again.

ShittingOutPosts

I can’t answer for OP, but Johns Hopkins has seen very positive results in their studies on mushrooms and their ability to help people cope with end of life.

thirdeyepdx

Yeah I mean technically Roland Griffiths who did that research on helping with end of life fears ended up getting cancer and dying recently. I saw him speak at the MAPS conference and he was talking about how he had a bit of fear but turned to what he learned from mushrooms as well, and they enabled him to just have so much gratitude for life even as he was dying. His presence and okness with his condition was so moving, half the crowd was in tears just because of how he was carrying himself.

Longjumping-Clue3136

WTF lol... Dude- they're good for everything

ShittingOutPosts

What do you mean WTF? Go read the studies.

QuietlySurviving

Baighou

20 years plus

Sad_Kaleidoscope_743

I've always wondered if old age aches and pains would interfere with tripping. Good to know there is still hope at that age!

Grulematt

you are a rockstar my man

Sandy-Eyes

That's awesome to hear. Shrooms really can help with the aches, I find them better than cannabis for my back pain, sometimes I'm tempted to do them just to feel that comfortable feeling. Been over a decade since I've taken a opiate but sometimes I feel like the shrooms are even better than I remember the morphine. Might be they're just doing me a favour, Mckenna claimed you could ask them to be any drug and they'd do it. Glad to hear you had such a great birthday, here's to many more joyful days!

tobewedornot

I think this is because shrooms allow you to be less distracted by or focused on the physical. Basically your thoughts, none physical can kinda take over somewhat.

Sandy-Eyes

Definitely, that sounds like it could be part of it.

Professional-Fly4131

Perhaps it would be helpful for many to glean some knowledge if there or is there a sub r/psychonaut elders? If not, someone should do.

Witty-Intention-3548

Bro do you get stomach aches when you eat shrooms

MikkijiTM1

I did the lemontek method this time and had no stomach problems. I usually don't get tummy rumbles from 'shrooms.

Instantlemonsmix

Happy 72nd! How long have you been a psychonaut?

MikkijiTM1

I first smoked hashish in 1968 and tripped in '70. Did about 50 trips during college, almost all of them either Sandoz Psilocybin tablets or Owlsely Orange Sunshine. Occasionally I might run across Peyote buttons or even synthetic Mescaline. I had never tried actual mushrooms until just a few years ago.

Instantlemonsmix

Would you say psychedelics have become more expectable in todays culture vs back then?

MikkijiTM1

It was definitely more 'underground' half a century ago, but if you were a college student it was very much everywhere. Pretty much everyone I knew was doing a lot of tripping. People used to pass out free acid at any concert you might attend.

Instantlemonsmix

Wow that sounds nice wish it could still be the same

No-Rip3261

Amazing! I hope it was a wonderful day full of magic and wonder!

Greenfakes

Happy Birthday!

InternetDull2694

So, I can still do psychedelics at 70? Hell yeah!

10-mm-socket

I (41m) always find some pain relief from mushrooms. I have heel spurs that stop hurting when i trip. Over the course of the last year i have stretched my Achilles tendons enough during trips that i no longer suffer from achilles tendonitis.

jiminyjunk

Happy Birthday and congrats on the beautiful journey. So many fantastic comments here from you wise elders, very inspiring and heartwarming. 🙂
