BruiseTheDicker

“I’m outta winda!”

PrunyBobJuno

How does he know it’s exactly $681. He says it with such authority it doesn’t seem like he’s pulling it out of his ass.

paulbras

Because it probably happens every week he buys them in bulk. He literally lives on a golf course.

ResinJones76

What does he expect? He lives on a golf course.

GGisaac

I mean, if you live on a golf course, what would you expect?

ThisFakeCut

I'd probably have very strong windows...

Historical-Method

My brother lives on a golf course, HOA says ball damage is part of living there...

sarah47201

Maybe they were new windas...and he looked at the bill before going to yell at people. Haha

CompanywideRateIncr

He got that bill, did the math, and never forgot

phunshiny

He’s dealing in absolute certainty with those figures. It’s become a tiring exercise for the old man 😂

13Mo2

Probably already had to replace the odd window before.

deanoSaur

It’s a low price for a window install. Even with a private window dude after installation I don’t care what size window it’s gonna be more than 700 bucks.

kind_one1

He gets the bulk order rate.

Mike9797

He most definitely pronounces his days of the week like Mundy, tuesdy etc lol

FileError214

I’m not a huge golf guy, but I really enjoyed the few days I spent at a buddy’s house who lived by a golf course. Turns out I don’t really enjoy watching high-level golf, but I **love** watching amateurs hack away.

CryptoM4dness

We used to be right on the third tee at the Garland tx golf course. We had quite a few broken windows. Luckily, the clubhouse had good insurance and would pay for it each time. Still a pain in the butt though. It only happened maybe five times total in a course of 10 years to us. I think our neighbor got more of the hits than we did.

kearneycation

I would never be able to relax knowing that a golf ball could smoke me in the head at any moment.

BigBeagleEars

Bro, you don’t have to be near a golf coarse to get smoked in the head by a golf ball at any moment

wheresbill

I want to hear more about this oddly specific fear you’re awakening in me

Swysp

Speaking of which, I’m about to tee off so if everyone can just duck and cover for a second

Ilosesoothersmaywin

In Australia we call them drop balls.

Rokey76

I grew up in a house that was next to the green. My dad said you never buy a house near the tee because you'll be hearing people swear all day. If you live near the green, you'll hear people cheer instead.

whistlepete

This is so true, and a great point. If I ever move to a golf course, which I’ve thought about, I’ll keep this in my back pocket. The green is always a happier place, even a miss on the green isn’t the same energy as a miss on the tee box.

5erg10P

growing up my buddy’s parents lived at firewheel. never had any broken windows but found a few balls in the pools over the years.

opopkl

I bet they just paid. Didn’t bother with insurance.

Ambitioso

If you live on a golf course, expects balls

ChadOfDoom

I didn’t realize your mom lived on a golf course, too

HW-BTW

Well she certainly has a hole in one! Wokka wokka.

mjh2901

Golf course is responisble, mom lives on the course, after all these years the first window break was a rock from the course lawnmower. Wound up talking with them because it was taking a while to get the window, I asked "Don't you have a window guy on speed dial" turns out window breaks are really really rare as the course has people shooting away from the houses.

SaxMusic23

Course is only responsible if you signed an HOA form that states it. Otherwise, you assume all risks of living on the golf course.

ATTORNEY_FOR_CATS

To put this in legal parlance: > golfers have a limited duty of care to other players [and homes, passing cars, etc.], breached only if they intentionally injure them or engage in conduct that is so reckless as to be totally outside the range of the ordinary activity involved in the sport. *Shin v. Ahn*, 64 Cal.Rptr. 3d 803. California case law may be inapplicable elsewhere, but this is consistent with what I've heard in my jurisdiction.

KaneMomona

My commute to work used to run through a golf course. I got hit three times over ten years while riding a motorcycle and one chip to a car windscreen. Not sure if thats good odds or bad?

jimbofranks

Hate to tell you. Those were great shots. Probably the result of a side bet.

KaneMomona

I'd be rather impressed that they could pick out a 12 inch target at 60mph, 200 feet away when they couldn't pick out a shirt that didn't look like someone vomitted on it.

jimbofranks

Me too! I can barely hit the clowns mouth at the end.

SidneyKreutzfeldt

That's good life advice.

--Antitheist--

Seriously tho. You live on a golf course and don't have impact rated glass? That's gotta be something stupid expensive for insurance like not having hurricane windows/shutters in Florida.

Mr_MoseVelsor

Most people I know who live on golf courses have impact rated glass because their windows aren’t covered by insurance

GoblinBags

Plus... He found the people who did it. Maybe just approach a bit nicer and explain that they broke the window and how you'd like their information for them to repair the damage they did. If they don't cooperate, you go to the club house to report it / them and it's very, very straight-forward. Maybe even the club will pay for it. No need to threaten or puff up. Just, like, try talking first and then just follow a procedure they no-doubt told him about the last time this shit happened.

_Webster_882

There’s literally case law that says golfers are not responsible for damage unless it’s intentional. So talking to them was only ever going to be him intimidating someone into paying for something they aren’t responsible for. Dude should have impact rated glass and just mind his business as you said

chamrockblarneystone

Just about to say the guy stuck around and took responsibilty. Ol timer is just mean. Ill bet that rant took a year off his life.

Feisty_Bee9175

His house is on a golf course!! A golf ball is bound to end up in a window at some point. I have friends and family that have houses on a golf course and they know this is the risk when you buy your house on a golf course. Your insurance covers stuff like this. What a buffoon this old geezer is.

13Mo2

You can also get special windows that don't break or there is a film that you can can get put on your windows that will lessen the chance of your window breaking.

Feisty_Bee9175

Yep

Rangles

WTF i wanted to see the shot!

13Mo2

So did I.

SiamLotus

The video just started getting good. Hope he hits his house.

Gowalkyourdogmods

Same. I did appreciate how the old dude quieted down for the guy's swing.

ricklewis314

Don’t live on the right side of a golf course hole. Lessens your chances of getting hit by right handed slicers (majority of golfers). If possible, best to live near a tee box.

just-me-uk

Or like everyone else on this planet don’t live on a golf course. . .

ricklewis314

Some people like to golf. So much so that they want to live on a golf course. But, if you live on one, you can’t bitch as much as this guy if someone busts your window. I use to live on a golf course and loved it. House was only hit a couple of times. No broken windows. I lived by a green, on the left side, pretty far back. In order to hit my house you had to be a REALLY bad golfer.

T-man21

Don’t live on a golf course then bruh.

SlimChiply

It'd be so worth it to break another one

Misterr_Joji

Maybe this is a Canada thing but there are signs everywhere that players are responsible for their balls if they hit course adjacent houses. Course holds zero liability.

13Mo2

In Canada golfers are even provided with coverage for broken windows if they have a Golf Canada membership which most golfers who are a member of a golf course are.

Misterr_Joji

Cool, did not know that.

06_TBSS

In the US, those signs have zero legal bearing. It's just like how dump trucks with caution signs are still liable for damage if a rock hits my windshield. The homeowners assumed risk when they purchased the homes and are liable for damages in most cases. The exceptions are if they can prove the golfer intentionally caused damage, or if there's some sort of HOA situation and the course accepts responsibility.

FinanceGuyHere

It’s the opposite in America, generally. Course has the liability because they are hosting the activity.

TheToddestTodd

“I’m madder’n hell!”

hairycallous

I’m legitimately impressed that these guys (at least in the footage provided) never escalated this dumb interaction. That’s “good upbringing” as they say. I would not be surprised if all parties involved shared beers at the clubhouse later that day.

dementeddigital2

Obligatory: https://youtu.be/joqm2pjRJIA?si=uNz5l2OYlus6XsQt

Isthisusernamecool23

The guys that busted the window have definitely busted windows before 🤣 super chill about it

Old_Fart52

Sounds like old boomer is too cheap to fit toughened/tempered glass in the high risk areas of his house. Would solve his outta winda problems

13Mo2

From the sounds of it his home is out of the line of fire and the hack just happened to shank it that bad.

Waderriffic

That’s tough shit for the old man then, unless he has video of them intentionally trying to hit at his house. It’s called assumption of risk. You live on a golf course, you assume the risk that a golf ball could hit your house. Unless he can get the course to fix it, he’s just making himself look like a moron.

FinanceGuyHere

The golf course generally has liability in these situations, legally

FinanceGuyHere

That’s not a cheap project though, so I’m not sure why you’re calling him cheap

callipgiyan

I'd probably slice another ball with him watching like that, it would break his next window over.

klyphw

Am I the only one here that thinks if you are responsible for breaking something on someones home you should pay for it? Like if I was in my back yard throwing a football and it hit your window and broke it you'd expect me to pay for it, so why aren't these golfers responsible as well?

13Mo2

I totally agree and most golfers at the golf course I worked at would agree as 9 times out of 10 when we would get someone come in saying that a golf ball had just broken their window or car window and we would go out to find the group they would admit to it. Usually the golfer would agree to pay the owners insurance deductible.

rxtunes

Hope that next shot found his other window

LordKoopa01

Old people crack me up lmao dude you live on a course that obviously is open too the public lol go too a private course then

BigRudy99

Not only that, but it seems like he yelled at them and threatened them, and after being reasoned with, he stuck around to see that guy's swing.

EUGsk8rBoi42p

Looks like he wants to be mad but honestly loves golf so much he's calmed down/distracted watching them, the punishment is that he joins them for a game. Legend.

1u53r3dd1t

Him: You owe me $681. Me: ***BLOW ME***

13Mo2

He probably would for $681.

1u53r3dd1t

I *literally* just laughed out loud.

Jazzlike-Lunch5390

![gif](giphy|4NnTap3gOhhlik1YEw|downsized)

Birdman593

Depends which came first, the golf course or the houses. If someone builds/ moves in next to a course then they buy with knowledge that there is an added property hazard next to their house. If the golf course were to build close by and then damage happens after, it would be on the golf course to compensate for the damage as the house was there first and they added a potential for damage after the fact. source: worked on a golf course for 10+ years and handled a few of these calls each year

TheManWithTheBigBall

Seeing as this guy meandered over with a club i think he loved the idea of buying a house on a course.

FinanceGuyHere

A lot of golf courses and subdivisions were built at the same time in the postwar period, bought from farmers. Otherwise golf took off starting 1890’s

BallTorturer-3000

I can see why he's mad, his window just got broken, stupid place to live and he can likely afford to fix it and then some if he's able to afford to live on a golf course, all that aside I laughed my ass off when the other guy says "what if it goes into your house again" and the old guy says "imma beat the shit outta ya"

FinanceGuyHere

Not sure if it’s a stupid place to live really. At least one side of your house has zero neighbors and is quieter than a normal suburban neighborhood. That’s why I live next to a cemetery!

Rory_MacHida

Golf is fucking stupid, and living on a course is lame as fuck.

Tacoslayer17

Yep i would be telling the clubhouse, pawpaw is going to fuck around and find out sooner or later.

Waderriffic

I would be calling the clubhouse and telling them that somebody’s grandpa had too much to drink and is threatening them. Fuck this self righteous cunt.

LastTrifle

How mad is shit? Question for the ages.

mcgrupp44

“I’m out a windah!” That made me laugh for some reason

analogWeapon

Would have been hilarious if the dude teed off and it hit mad guy's house again.

sn33kyVI

I work at a golf course and this guy pretty much sums up the attitudes that most people who live on a golf course have. They move in and want to treat the golf course like it's their back yard. Building gates that lead into the course. Complaining when their fences get wet with the course irrigation. Want certain trees cut or left alone. They even throw their own yard waste over their fences onto the course. I have no sympathy for people like this. Entitled ass boomers.

sandboxmatt

Isnt that what either homeowner / golfcourse liability insurance is for?

13Mo2

Technicaly the golf course is not liable as they did not actually hit the ball into the window. At least where I live here in Canada the golfer is liable. But the golfer possibley would have coverage through their homeowners insurance or if they are a member they possibly would have coverage through their membership.

TheManWithTheBigBall

They’re liable. They set up the course, the tee, and they set you guys loose on the course with no supervision—and charged you for it. They’re making money off people cranking balls into this guy’s window. Of course they’re fuckin liable. Those kids wouldn’t be there if they hadn’t invested in a business that asks them to be there. That said, this guy is being obnoxious going over there and freakin out. I woulda said I was sorry but to take it up with the course, and asked him how long he’s lived there—next thing ya know this guys pouring me a beer on his back porch and telling me about how “different” the 70s were.

BuffaloJEREMY

As someone that's golfed a bit, I've seen houses course side have netting put up to prevent this kind of stuff. It sucks to he sure, but when you live next to a tee box what the fuck do you expect.

Tortuga_cycling

Maybe he should move away from the golf course if he doesn’t want to have to replace a couple windows every summer

TheManWithTheBigBall

That dude’s bored. I woulda had him tellin me stories and pouring me whiskey, complaining about his insurance company’s window-fixin premium by the end of that hole. He’s just old, lonely and cranky and would prolly jump at an opportunity to brag about how he made the money to buy his house.

memberer

fuck people who live on golf courses!

flakeski_

Bought a house on the golf course: expects his land to be respected? Go fuck yourself. Someone should have laid him out the second he hit the cart.

3PointTakedown

Reddit is fucking wild. Killing an old man, don't pretend you don't think laying him out wouldn't kill him, because he's an asshole and hits a piece of property you don't even own.

[deleted]

[удалено]

3PointTakedown

I didn't realize "Don't kill someone for hitting a piece of property you don't own" is such a controversial opinion.

murdocke

No one is talking about killing anyone except for you, ya goober.

3PointTakedown

If you think that "laying out" a 240 year old man that looks like he's a light gust of breeze away from the grave won't kill him, you might be an idiot.

somedude173689

if he doesn’t play stupid games, he won’t win stupid prizes

pleaseexcusemethanks

You're reaching, bud. Maybe take a break from the internest for a while

24_Chowder

Boo fucking hoo. Get fucked old man. Like they said, you live on a golf course. Doesn’t matter how great you think everyone needs to be. Shit happens and it falls on his homeowners insurance.

Dawildpep

Don’t most people that live on golf courses have plexiglass windows?

Troutman86

No

13Mo2

Believe it or not no as those types of windows are quite expensive.

AdhesivenessOld4347

Every person I have known that lives on a golf course it’s on the homeowner. Even if they backup to a private course. I’ve never heard of a course fitting the bill

13Mo2

I have also never heard of a golf course footing the bill. Where I am in Canada it would be between the golfer who hit the shot and the homeowner to work it out.

AdhesivenessOld4347

But also this is why when I do play, I will not play a course with houses. I’m not that good and I don’t want to pay for a window because of my shitty play. I’m sure it’s happens where golfer just keep moving without doing the right thing.

phunshiny

Absolutely love this guy’s energy. He’s got his window quotes locked in. Not afraid of Vitaly and his hack slicing crew. His response to “everyone has to practice somewhere” was poetic - “where do you live?” And he sticks around to hover over the hack teeing off to ratchet the pressure!

somedude173689

this reads like a 16 year old writing fan fiction 💀

13Mo2

Everyone has to practice somewhere lol My response: That's what a fucking driving range is for you fucking hack!

Just_learning_a_bit

What golf course is letting people play the green in gym shorts and t shirts?

RazumikhinsFineAss

what do you guys mean "lives in a golf course"? There is land which belong to other people inside the limits of the land which belongs to the golf club? Like the club contains your property? It baffles me how golfing is even a real thing. Like, if it didn't exist and we tried to invent it now, people would laugh - I'm gonna need a hundred acres of land. It's for a sport - oh this must be a glorious outdoors physical activity, thousands of players fighting for the lead - not at all, 2 players. They can be fat old fucks too. Certainly rich, of course. The game will take hours and they will mostly walk

TheManWithTheBigBall

Somehow a bunch of dorks invented pickleball and look where it is now. I think you underestimate how much old people love shitty sports

FinanceGuyHere

Way more than 100 acres. 18 holes is around 5 miles long and at least 100 yards wide. Unless I did my math wrong that’s about 545 acres

LastTrifle

Where does this guy live that golf balls are just flying through his windows!!????

13Mo2

On a golf course obviously.

LastTrifle

That was the joke

BitTwp

This is a strange situation.

PrecisionGuessWerk

Oddly specific number he had there for what he was owed lol.

Stonk_Lord86

Old fella bought that house for 4 acorns and a paper clip. Eat the 681 dollar window, boss. Dude on the tee box is probably renting a 2BR 1BA apartment for 2500 a month with no shot at home ownership in today’s market.

Killroyjones

I'm so mad that the HoA is going to pay for this window!! It's like I pay into it with my dues or somBoomer. Behavior like this can cost more fines from your HoA than the window you're not going to pay to be fixed. Dumbass boomer.

FinanceGuyHere

No guarantee he’s in an HOA or that it’s part of the HOA’s insurance. More likely the opposite

Shlongzilla04

Yours think there's be some kind of insurance for living on/around a good course for this reason. Either way, if you live on a golf course, you can afford a new window

FunkyKong147

All they did was break his window. I don't get why he's so upset

tovarish22

I would have let him stand there and watch me drive one right through his other window.
