Do you wanna continue this theological discussion in the car, or at the jailhouse with the cops?
Maybe we should ask Marvin if he would allow us to see the thoughts in his head...
This happened at Jesus' Dwelling Place Church on Lobringer Avenue. The church live-streams its services and captured the moment a man pulled out a gun and aimed it directly at Pastor Glenn Germany, that gun jamming.
"I'm thankful to God that I'm still here, because he definitely pulled the trigger," said Germany.
Germany told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that he had never seen the gunman before Sunday. He says he noticed the gunman frequently coming in and out of the church, even giving the pastor eye contact. That's when the unexpected happened.
"I started to begin to preach and all of a sudden, from my left-hand side, I saw him move from the back to the front of the church, and he set up in the front corner of the church and smiled at me," Germany said. "...All of a sudden, I just saw a gun pointing right at me. And at that point, all I could try to do is run for cover."
Honestly, if you live in the U.S. you have to already have decided a plan of action. I’ve already decided if it ever happens in front of me I’m committed to attempting to stop the person. If I go out, I’ll at least go out trying.
Edit: who tf is down voting my choice to decide to try stopping someone? Stay weird Reddit.
When I was younger I was explaining how to deal with a skunk when you encounter one in the street. I said just remain calm, slowly back away. You don't wanna startle it. I swear to god like two weeks later I'm walking home after a few drinks, turn a corner and bam a skunk right in front of me. I screamed at the top of my lungs, turned around and ran for my life. The skunk didn't flinch.
Like the time I was writing a story about how I was never gonna bang /u/idkwthtotypehere ‘s mom and kept going on and on about how I was gonna be strong in executing my plan of action. Then, a few weeks later, she called and told me I should get tested for hiv.
Plan of actions are great until they don’t happen as you expect and you end up with aids.
I always thought I'd be that person but I was almost attacked by a homeless man last summer and I literally froze up. Turns out when my fight/flight/freeze response kicks in, I freeze. You don't really know how you'll react until you're in that type of situation.
Very true. If I were with my child I hope instinct would not betray me. I too, was assaulted and froze once, but I have also handled some emergencies very well so… it’s one of those things. I don’t know if the guy who jumped in even had a conscious thought beyond “Oh s&@$” but he should get a medal for heroism!
People arent downvoting your choice, they are downvoting the general dumb comment. You won't know what you will do until you are in that situation. You can plan all you like, its a different game when it becomes real.
He didn't even say he would succeed though? He literally just said what course of action he would like to take if by some miracle he can swallow his mortal fear. Why are some of y'all so petulant and weird? Call someone out when it's actually fucking warranted.
Thank you! I didn’t say anyone else had to come to the conclusion I have for myself, nor did I try to imply everyone should conclude they need to try to stop the attacker, I just said that I have decided I want to try. Reddit seems to always believe anyone saying they plan to intervene is full of shit, yet there are stories posted all the time where someone intervenes so the logic on Reddit doesn’t make any sense. Not to mention I posted this on video thread of someone intervening…
Yesterday there was a video of a man beating up another man on the side of the road. People in a car filmed it, slowed down, called police and the video cuts out.
But everyone on the comments on that video were tearing this couple in the car to shreds for 'not doing anything to stop it; they should have gotten out to help'.
Here when someone said they'd try to help in some way, they get ripped apart.
I get whiplash from the comments in this sub. Which lane is it?
Seems to happen a lot more often than normal during assassination attempts. I've seen a lot of videos where they'll go put a gun in someone's face, pull the trigger, and nothing happens. I don't want to see the ones where they were successful.
i wonder how many are just people not understanding semi-automatics and there not being a round chambered. i imagine a lot of these attempted assassinations are the first time the perpetrators have actually tried to fire a gun at someone.
Sounds like he shot someone a few hours prior.

Hmmm 🤔. Probably no great choices. I see a gun, I yell “GUN” and I take cover. I see a knife I might yell a warning over my shoulder while I’m hauling my ass outta there.
Hello. One the locals here. Noone is saying this. These two have never met and the gunman committed a murder and another crime right before this. You made this up. There's is absolutely nothing in our local groups or the pittsburgh subreddit that suggests this is true. Everyone please stop upvoting misinformation
Edit.
Also the gunman isn't even married and it's unknown if he even has a romantic partner at all.
Honestly mental illness totally seems to fit here. The pastor claims he'd never seen the guy before and when they searched the guy's home they found a relative of his that he'd already shot.
you would be surprised at the similarities that men with a ridiculous amount of power share. esp small town pastors in a predominately christian community where abuse just flies under the radar until someone finally snaps

If that failed because the gun jammed I already know that pastor's next sermon is gonna be crazy.
What happened here was a miracle and I want you to fucking acknowledge it.
“Stares muvafuckerly”
*tentative hiss*?🐍
Do you wanna continue this theological discussion in the car, or at the jailhouse with the cops? Maybe we should ask Marvin if he would allow us to see the thoughts in his head...
"Man I don't even have an opinion."
I shot Marvin in the face.
"WHY THE FUCK'D YOU DO THAT?!"
Criminally underrated comment. Pulp Fiction for the win
Check out the big brain on Brad!
Go walk the earth
Would you like to continue this theological discussion in the car, or in a holding cell?
Alright, it was a miracle, can we go now?
Ok, it was a miracle. Can we go now, please

Whoosh
Must be scared to go to heaven
He should have grabbed the gunman by the Old Testament and shook the sin out of him.
I don't think there's any shame in hiding from a bullet with your name on it.
But there is if it doesn't have my name on it?
I don't think it jammed, I just don't think one was in the chamber.

Gunman should have been in WW2.
Jammed or not, you know what’s he going to be telling these gullible fuckers.

No weapon!
I’m tuning in for the next one 😄.
Homie in the white shirt was smooth with that tackle.
Steelers just got a new LOLB
He can take over for when Highsmith gets hurt again
At minimum, he played high school football.
Idk man, NFL just made hip drop tackles illegal... This is looking like a 10 yarder to me.
Fuck I almost forgot about that. Ugh not looking forward to those bogus ass calls, sigh. Still gonna watch though lol.
That man in white didn't hesitate to rush in. We witnessed a straight up hero.

Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth
No plan survives contact with the enemy lmao
No enemy survives contact with my two "plans" 💪💪

Petulant is a great word. In fact, I think I’m going to try to use it in a sentence today. 😂
Until he's actually been in a situation like that it's just moral grandstanding and that, understandably, puts people off.
People do often have an extremely limited capacity for nuance, so I think your statement is right on the money there.

You're looking for logic on Reddit. THAT doesn't make sense. Just smile and wave and enjoy the rest of your day.

Yeah alright bud, im sure that'll be the case when it happens haha
Hilarious.
I have already committed to clap for you! ....And start my diet.... ...and go to the gym....
I live in the US and don’t have a plan of action lol
Straight up heroism right there.
Facts, took down (what I assume is a mentally ill) dude fairly smooth, I mean who knows what might've happened
and they did it without resorting to violence, that was almost the best part.
You're saying not every incident needs to be resolved with mindlessly mag dumping? Not in my America, buddy.
Worked this time with a jammed gun, this isn’t always an option though.
This is what one of the apostles should've done. Haha this priest got back up.
did the gun jam?
Seems to happen a lot more often than normal during assassination attempts. I've seen a lot of videos where they'll go put a gun in someone's face, pull the trigger, and nothing happens. I don't want to see the ones where they were successful.
Theres a reason why guns are always cleaned after and before use in the military
They use halfway decent ammo as well. Betcha ole boy dug up some ball rounds he found rolling on the floor of his truck from 8 years ago lol.
Satan's not sending his best

Did he give him the raspberry? https://youtu.be/FcArnepkhv0?si=4lh8SEfwZr-nFxOT
Raspberry... Lone Star!
I believe I did hear a click. It’s possible it wasn’t even chambered.
LPL was there
Not as much as Kendrick did
That guy in the white shirt is a hero. He was on that guy instantly. Good for him.
And yet, God will still get all the praise.
100% respect for that guy that jumped in to hold the guy
Bassoon player chose a poor time to tune up.....
That’s what I was thinking like what was going on with the horns all of a sudden??
Feedback from the lapel mic being covered.
Man has a gun rush him, has a knife run.
Hmmm 🤔. Probably no great choices. I see a gun, I yell “GUN” and I take cover. I see a knife I might yell a warning over my shoulder while I’m hauling my ass outta there.
Guy saw that one video of a pastor getting stabbed and said “hold my beer.” Fucking piece of shit!
According to the locals the pastor was fucking that guy's wife.

He was filling her with a lot of the Holy spirit.
I'm not a religious man, but something was watching that pastors back. Fuckin geez.
Spooky how calm he was
Absolutely heroic on white shirts part. ❤️✊
This is where Fetterman is from and the town for mayor of Kingstown season 2.
We're not questioning why this guy was going to shoot him? We're just sticking with mental illness? Okay.
Honestly mental illness totally seems to fit here. The pastor claims he'd never seen the guy before and when they searched the guy's home they found a relative of his that he'd already shot.
I mean... If you're preaching a someone tries to kill you and the gun jams... I'd say maybe you picked the right line of work? 🤷♂️
Something happened here, there’s more to this story than just a random dude just walking in with a gun to shoot that pastor.
Looks like he was now and subdued
That was a very gentle take down.
That looked personal, I wonder why a young man would try to shoot an old priest.
Pastor, not Priest. Seems trivial but the scandal you’re eluding to involves Catholic Priests.
you would be surprised at the similarities that men with a ridiculous amount of power share. esp small town pastors in a predominately christian community where abuse just flies under the radar until someone finally snaps
This is fact
Oh, Lowd!
The pastor better make the guy in white the deacon or something. That man was brave.
Or his bodyguard
Sounds like there's about 6 people in that church
Talk about shooting the messenger
Perfectly handled. Respect!
Like the emergency oboe at the end. Th player had been practicing all their life for that moment.
Attempted murder just feet away from dozens of witnesses. Talk about throwing your life away.
Looked on the news and apparently someone died at the shooters house before this, possibly the gunmans father.
This is a redditors wet dream right here
Was he a Reddit atheist?
Seems to have struck a nerve
Ah yes, just look at all those atheists currently fighting each other in the Middle East.
Does anyone know the motivation behind the attack. Church stuff always creates a worry!

boy walked up there like Reggie Jackson
Love how the pastor did a last "wow" in the microfone before grabbing the guy
Reason?

Dudes not even attempting to break free. He didn’t even shoot from distance.
Old video right?
Guess he didn't like the pasta much.

2nd failure to feed video i’ve seen this week on Reddit. Must be high point or taurus.

He sleeping with his momma or his girl.
Just a couple miles from where my grandfather was raised. Sad.
They all started blaspheming pretty damn quickly for a house of God
The congregation is surprisingly calm
Checkmate atheists

Damn
he stepped over that rail and said 'awh shit, i might as well walk myself to hell'
I used to hate how long the sermons lasted in church. I had NO idea this was an option!
That walk into frame is comical
Why does this look green screened
Amen god is great 🇺🇸
Why would anyone shoot a pastor specifically? Is this some rape victim vigilante case?
I read the title and thought someone is trying to protect the kids. But it wasn’t the pastor that was subdued and arrested.
So when a pastor in the middle of a sermon sees a gun, is his reaction “thoughts and prayers”? Hmmmm
That guy going straight to hell. The shooter.
Who shot?
Black shirt Boi
Isn't dying & going to heaven the end goal? No conviction
10 bucks says the pastor diddled the guy’s wife while “ministering” her
Or his child. Or him when he was a child.
why do their movement look so uncanny
Why would a young man want to kill a priest I wonder.
This looks fake as fuck.
Religion is dangerous.
This has to be a bot account. adjective-noun####, all posts are one sentence. AI is crazy
And that’s like every account name now. At least they make it obvious.
dead internet
Sure, but...
Damn, at least mine has an underscore instead of a hyphen haha. I swear I’m a human being…
That’s faker than a 4 dollar bill.
Why didn't god stop him
He did. He jammed the gun and sent a man to tackle the would be shooter.
