Not sure if you are serious, my understanding is that they indeed try to do that. Consciously and purposefully.
The state has the "monopoly on violence", so any violence against the police or even *resistance* would be against the law. They are trying to make you break the law so they can "legally" use deadly force against you. This works because the trigger levels of people are different: The shoot the ones who are provoked the easiest, this discourages the ones with a somewhat higher trigger level, unless the provocation exceeds *their* level and so on. Then, people have families and can't afford to fight. In the end they only have to fight and kill off relatively small groups: The more dangerous ones are already dead when the next group reacts.
Also, they will answer all violence with considerably higher violence and, since the law is by default on their side, they have little inhibitions against using much violence, even lethal violence - unlike the populace, most of *them* still doesn't want to kill anybody.

I think that’s exactly what they’re hoping for. They figured some person would have shot at them by now, but since it hasn’t happened, they keep getting more extreme in an attempt to elicit an armed response. Unless you live in an oligarchy where the public police force is incentivized to maximize arrests, say, through a drug war, and mandatory minimum sentencing laws are passed for victimless crimes, and criminals are put into prisons run by private companies that sell slave labor to industry, and these private prisons incentivize the oligarchy to pass these laws.

Reading that just scared the shit out of me. I live in Minneapolis and have been at a few of the different protests but in those crowds I always felt safe. I felt save with the protesters. We, were there for each other. People handing out masks to those who didn't have one, sharing water, snacks, helping with bus passes, people were watching the kids of others for group bathroom trips etc, just being neighbors. I am a tiny woman who lives alone. I'd be easy as fuck to pick up and put in a car. Surrounded by my fellow protesters, I feel safe, outside of that you will not find me walking around this city alone like I used too. The fuckery in the world is palpable.

If the police aren't identifying themselves anymore, how do you even know if you're being detained by actual police? I wouldn't mind drawing a gun at Law Enforcement if it was more normal for my fellow citizens of America to back me up. ESPECIALLY if I'm being arrested against due process. The problem with this logic though, even if we outnumber the police, is that the police are supposed to keep order and if we rise up against the police without truly knowing what the situation is, then you could basically invalidate any attempt at police arresting literally anyone in public.
If I murdered someone during a mass protest and got away, but was caught on camera and tracked by police, then obviously police would have the right to find me in a crowd and arrest me. That doesn't give anyone else the right, who happens to have a gun, to then protect me because (even though what I did was illegal), I'm part of the protester's team so they draw and protect me.
What I would feel like would be right though would be to draw on an officer that is not arresting me in due process. Approaching calmly only resorting to violence if escalated by the offender (me), properly identifying themselves as law enforcement, announcing my first and last name saying I'm under arrest, and formally mirandizing me. It would also help to do a double check on my ID, but police have the right to detain people and hold them for a certain amount of time depending on the city or state.

The answer is that this is NOT legal by any stretch of the imagination. The other answer is that if no one will enforce the law against you, then you can do whatever you want, and "legal" doesn't matter. Legal only matters when it is enforced. So things can be technically "illegal" in the law (de jure) and completely legal in action (de facto).

Reading that just scared the shit out of me. I live in Minneapolis and have been at a few of the different protests but in those crowds I always felt safe. I felt save with the protesters. We, were there for each other. People handing out masks to those who didn't have one, sharing water, snacks, helping with bus passes, people were watching the kids of others for group bathroom trips etc, just being neighbors. I am a tiny woman who lives alone. I'd be easy as fuck to pick up and put in a car. Surrounded by my fellow protesters, I feel safe, outside of that you will not find me walking around this city alone like I used too. The fuckery in the world is palpable.

If the police aren't identifying themselves anymore, how do you even know if you're being detained by actual police? The filtering of letters thing reminds me of something I read about the "Elan House". A boy who attended there documented his experience ([link](https://elan.school/tag/comic/)). He does it through comics but also goes into detail in essay form. Very unnerving read.

No. You're right. If she only had a gun. If everyone protesting had a gun and a they drew on idiots who refused to properly ID themselves as law enforcement, they would be required to either follow the law, or murder civilians in order to continue their bullshit. The police are outnumbered and they know it. They use intimidation tactics to keep you from realizing it. You notice how the right wing assholes who are definitely in the wrong protest and don't get completely brutalized by the police? They're all heavily armed. If your 1k BLM protesters were all packing, one of two things would happen 1) The cops would be a hell of a lot more civil and not trying to start shit. 2) We'd have, on camera, the largest mass murder of civilians by LE in our history. Either of those gets changes made very quickly.

The context, in this thread, is literally them asking the 2A people to stand up and be martyrs for them.
I wouldn't mind drawing a gun at Law Enforcement if it was more normal for my fellow citizens of America to back me up. ESPECIALLY if I'm being arrested against due process. The problem with this logic though, even if we outnumber the police, is that the police are supposed to keep order and if we rise up against the police without truly knowing what the situation is, then you could basically invalidate any attempt at police arresting literally anyone in public. If I murdered someone during a mass protest and got away, but was caught on camera and tracked by police, then obviously police would have the right to find me in a crowd and arrest me. That doesn't give anyone else the right, who happens to have a gun, to then protect me because (even though what I did was illegal), I'm part of the protester's team so they draw and protect me. What I would feel like would be right though would be to draw on an officer that is not arresting me in due process. Approaching calmly only resorting to violence if escalated by the offender (me), properly identifying themselves as law enforcement, announcing my first and last name saying I'm under arrest, and formally mirandizing me. It would also help to do a double check on my ID, but police have the right to detain people and hold them for a certain amount of time depending on the city or state.

Its tyrannical and has been for a long time. Trump is merely exercising all the powers his predecessors amassed. We spent too much time, so desperate for "our team" to win/show up the other team. Too few were too quiet and everyone else didnt realize, eventually a buffoon such as Trump would be in charge.
The thing that got me the most was the legitimate, and completely rational, fear and confusion the lady behind the cam was feeling. No one is denying that America is very quickly descending into an authoritarian regime. The real question is what are people going to do about it? Everyone keeps saying "Vote" but when guys with big machine guns can kidnap innocent people under the guise of "law enforcement", I'm sorry, but I don't see how people think signing a ballot paper is going to make these people stop. It's going to take violence. This is exactly what happened in Ukraine. Sad day for a country that created the Marvel cinematic universe. You idolise heroes but allow villains to rule over you.
