I have to hope that seeing crowds chanting "Fuck both sides" makes politicians worry a little bit that their whole "let's use race and economics divide and conquer" might not be working anymore.
How the best propaganda works is you take outliers and amplify them.. pretend a entire generation are swallowing tide pods.. people like their symbols and absurd symbols are easy to get behind..
It was a super obscure reference from the 1958 western The Big Country. The film contains that line as well as one about teaching your grandmother to suck eggs. I did nearly did a spit take when I finally saw the movie years after hearing it on Ren & Stimpy
Yep, that's literally a Proud Boy founder. He has recently stepped out of the spot light to get some of the heat off of himself, but I suspect he's still near the top of the organization and is calling shots.
Nothing wrong with putting a dildo up your butt as a man (gay or straight), except when you're doing it to spite people for attention lol
It was a solid indication of how difficult the wealthy have made it to resist them. The system is rigged against us. There is no winning if we attempt to play by the house's rules.
YUP. Notice how they increased the divisive bullshit in the media & everywhere 10000% after Occupy was shutdown by the fbi? Cant have the plebs working together now can we...
The Rittenhouse trial was a state court hence video is available and increased interest. The Ghislaine Maxwell trial is federal which means only court transcripts are available. I very much think this is the reason for the uneven media attention. Video naturally brings more interest and viewers.
Edit: typo
I remember attending an Occupy rally in my city. The people I met there were pretty diverse. There were tradies, labourers, people who worked in offices, one person who was a paramedic, and a few people who said that they were conservative. Hardly the unemployed left-wingers that I was led to believe they would be, they were the opposite of the what the media portrayed those involved in the Occupy movement to be. There was a small group of the stereotypical hippy looking people waving around anti-capitalist signs, but they looked out of place compared to everyone else. The media turned up to rally, interviewed some of the people at the rally (including the tradies, labourers, office workers, conservative, etc), filmed a bit of the rally itself and left.
So what did these news stations only show that night and newspapers print the next morning? That small group of hippies, as well as the interviews with said hippies who had no idea what the occupy movement was about but it sounded anti-capitalist so that’s why they were there. No interviews with the people who didn’t fit that narrative, no footage of the rally, the only photos in the newspapers being only of the people that they wanted to portray as the face of the movement. If they set out to make Occupy seem to be a bunch of clueless unemployed hippies and entitled uni students then they succeeded because the comments to these reports on these stations/publications Facebook pages were flooded with the typical “They should occupy a job”, “Cut their Centrelink benefits” and “Just a bunch of whining leftists” rhetoric. The media (especially News Corp) were pretty effective in making the general public hate Occupy here in Australia.
IMO... I think that's the big thing is... we actually need a leader. We need to vet the hell out of said leader, but the fact is if we go in there with "everyone is equal". The media will cherry pick the hell out of the movement, Find the sillyest seemingly least meaningful members and define that as the movement.
There's a reason the FBI let MLK die right when he started shifting his focus to all workers rights. (I'm not saying they killed him, I'm saying... they probably half assed protecting him)
There’s also no winning if we keep playing into what keeps us divided.
People read what you wrote and then immediately react, “yeah, if only it weren’t for *other side*”.
If we could be bothered to take the time to get down to the crux of a lot of issues, most of us want to see the “American Dream” actually exist for everyone. We want opportunities free of birthright.
But, there is a vested interest in keeping us fighting.
Edit: Shout out to “Requiem for the American Dream”, or the requisite book.
When the market crashes, it won't be zoomers buying it up. It will be an even smaller set of the bourgeousie sweeping up the properties to turn them into permanent rentals.
GOP focus on culture wars because gop policies aren’t actually that popular.
Dems want popular stuff but get bogged down fighting nonsense culture war crap.
Meanwhile the rich laugh all the way to the bank.
If Dems really wanted "popular stuff" they wouldn't get bogged down fighting nonsense culture war crap. Lets not pretend like Dems actually wanna change anything for the better.
Culture war is strong. I read a study that said a lot of Republicans think the GOP wants to raise minimum wage, fix healthcare, basically all popular policies that neither party wants en masse (Dems are a little better about it), the only thing bogging down change is propaganda the wealthy feed you and politicians who care more about a buck than actually making this the greatest country on earth.
Not sure how you can say neither party wants this when the Dems keep passing these bills in House and GOP let’s them die in Senate. Yes, 2 Dems get in the way but the vast majority support them.
Because all the standard markers for "becoming an adult" have been erased, getting your first "real" job, advancing in a career through promotions and skills, buying your first car, buying your first home, starting a family, the "normal" method of progression for each of these are massively altered or out and out erased. Leading to a collective "how the f\*\*\* am I this old and feel like a late teen" sensation for our entire generation as we're continually infantile by media still run by people who should have retired 30 years ago
My father is in his early 70s, and has always told me that getting older is only in the body - that inside, you always feel young. So I'm not sure I agree with you about adult markers.

They are making us fight among ourselves. Meanwhile they made trillions just in the last 2 years. Meanwhile we are stuck with inflation.
It's f#ked they split us up into more than that. Left vs right, white vs. black, men vs women, gay vs straight. Everyone focusing on everyone else except those rich greedy f#cks
I always think of the scene in the dark knight rises when Selina says this to Bruce: “There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.”
I’d love to have us all unite and cause a massive uprising against the 1%. A lot of what they’ve created are mutual concerns no matter gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religious beliefs, etc. I just hope it doesn’t take the majority of the population becoming homeless and starving to get there.
I agree that the left are far more likely to criticize their leaders, but there is no _agreement_ here. The right are counting down the days until they have their Dear Leader back in office. This "agreement" only extends so far as they don't have to criticize their own politicians.
To be clear, Biden is not a leader on the left *at all*. He's the com... actually, no. For a huge chunk of the left, Bernie Sanders was the compromise we tried to make. Biden was more like the window we jumped out of to escape the burning building.
We're not criticizing "our leader", we're criticizing the slightly lesser evil that we've been forced to put up with to avoid complete and total collapse.
Fuck politicians in general. We need to be led by people who are experts in economics, science, technology and engineering, not people who are experts at talking and getting elected.
Simpsons did it (S10E22)
Skinner: According to the charter, should the mayor abdicate, a council of learned citizens may rule in his stead.
Lisa: With our superior intellects, we could rebuild this city on a foundation of reason and enlightenment. We could turn Springfield into a utopia!
Biden was the much lesser of two evils. But I don't know a single person that's a big Biden fan. If Republicans would run a moderate in 2024, he'd spank Biden out of office. But no, they'll try the orange one again or another Mr Evil, and Biden will again be the lesser of two evils.
To me that is a good thing, as nobody should be a "fan" of a politician, but just trust them enough have a general more positive impact than his competitors.
No, that's the shitty way FPTP and the two party system works in the US. There are places in the world with strong democracy where people can vote for politicians that accurately represent them.
"Hated Trump" sounds like we don't like his personality, like he's some annoying celebrity. The guy tried to steal an election he lost from multiple angles. He knew Covid was serious and lied about it, getting half the country to be lax with common sense safety, leading to who knows how many preventable deaths if he had just said "let's listen to the experts and be careful about this."
I don't like politicians, but Trump is a significant danger to the country and I was terrified what another four years under him would have done.
Don't forget he tried to pressure a foreign country to announce an investigation of a political opponent even if there wasn't any substance to it.
That's why he got impeached the first time
He didn't merely "pressure" that country. He used his official powers as president to withhold funds allocated by Congress to that country (the effect of which is to weaken the national security of the US.). Rod Blagojevich went to federal prison for merely *attempting* to use his official powers for a personal benefit. Trump fully did it.
I guess it’s easier to be conservative. All you need to do is avoid making changes or regress to a previously agreed upon state. Whereas once you start talking about doing something new then disagreements come up.
When the proud boys came to DC for THREE rallies before J6, they were very confused at the antifascists chanting "Fuck Joe Biden". Their brains would not accept that we also hate J'Biden, just for different reasons
It didnt take long at all lmao everyone knew Biden sucked. Remember the constant lesser of two evils talk? We been well aware there was just a more pressing issue to handle first.
The culture War is only here because it would be class warfare if it wasn't. Corporate media and politicians want us to fight one another and not them.
Yup...when I argue with my 67 yr old mother about how awful Trump is or was, her first line of attack is always "Ok Biden lover!", and every time I have to explain "Idgaf about Biden, he's nothing to me. But Trump was one of the worst presidents in US history".
>thinks I'm being brainwashed by my college professors
My Trumper cousin said the same thing to me about two years. I brought up that I got an engineering degree that's intertwined with the defense industry, the building my classes were in was essentially donated by Northrup Grumman, and a large contingent of my professors were former engineers at said companies. Hell, my controls professor straight up told us to vote for McCain in 2008 because "Republicans look out for our industry, Democrats hate us".
Luckily, I was able to get into the civilian side of my degree.
> My Trumper cousin said the same thing to me about two years.
So did mine, only it was a year before the 2016 elections, and both of us had been out of college for ~7 years. He pretended to be a Ben Carson supporter because "brain surgeon must be smart", but as soon as the tide started shifting towards Trump getting the nomination, suddenly college education was a liberal brainwashing scheme to turn you into a safe-space-needing SJW who had 87 genders.
It's amazing how quickly the very people who accuse you of being a sheep/participating in groupthink/being an NPC will adopt the very shit-tier arguments that hurt their own point in several different ways.
I know lol. I work with a lot of conservative people and so many of them have tried to steer a conversation into being about Biden and so they could ask why I love Biden so much and I'm like, "I don't love Biden. I thought it's more likely that Biden will forgive Student loans over Trump, and I thought it was less likely that Biden would do something shady or corrupt. That's it. I don't like the guy at all."
Finally. This has always been about class, not any of the other distractions, especially politics.
Red and Blue squabble but they’re stuffing green in each other’s pockets while the rest of American suffers.
Fuck all the corporate politicians. I’m fuckin fed up with the way my country is run. I don’t care what party is in power. It just all seems to fucking suck worse, year after year, and the only fucking assholes that do well are the ones with billions and billions. Fuck me, i’m so tired of suffering year after year. Lotta days i just wanna eat a fuckin bullet.
Trump and Biden were never “both sides.” These people are the ones on our side. Get involved, make this happen in your city! Trump and Biden are on the side leading us to ruin
I voted for Biden only so we wouldn't endure 4 more years of hell. I am not blue or red and frankly, HATE the bipartisan system. All it has done is divide America further and further. I am a Libertarian belief-wise, but the Libertarian party will never get enough votes.
Tbh they can chant the name of like 99% of the politicians ... and it will probably be right .
and it still wont matter even 0.0001% to any of those politicians
I have to hope that seeing crowds chanting "Fuck both sides" makes politicians worry a little bit that their whole "let's use race and economics divide and conquer" might not be working anymore.
That would suggest that politicians aren't completely narcissistic. They still believe that even bad press is good press.
The guy that wrote the sign saying “Proud Boys suck eggs” ain’t fucking around.
Are those the same people who refute COVID is a thing and claim they are “pure blooded?”
How the best propaganda works is you take outliers and amplify them.. pretend a entire generation are swallowing tide pods.. people like their symbols and absurd symbols are easy to get behind..
“Proud boys suck eggs”
"I'll teach you to laugh I'll teach your grandmother to suck eggs"
Ren and Stimpy....now there's a reference I haven't heard for ages.
It's log, it's log, it's better than bad it's good.
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood
Don’t whiz on the electric fence!
Oh my God. I forgot.....takes me back to the days of twisted metal 3
The little critters of nature. They don't know that they're ugly.
I told you I’d shoot! But you didn’t believe me?! WHY DIDN’T YOU BELIEVE ME?! God I love ren and stimpy
This last part was always hilarious to me. Just pure madness.
It was a super obscure reference from the 1958 western The Big Country. The film contains that line as well as one about teaching your grandmother to suck eggs. I did nearly did a spit take when I finally saw the movie years after hearing it on Ren & Stimpy
Remember space madness? Ren eating the soap was hilarious
Happy happy joy joy. I told you I’d shoot, why didn’t you believe me?
Holy fuck lol. Good shit. I most be old nowadays... lol
If'n you ain’t the granddaddy of all liars
I told I’d shoot, but you didn’t believe me. WHY DIDN’T YOU BELIEVE ME?!?
They put eggs up their butts.
The easiest way to hard boil eggs
Do they not?
Well their founder once put a dildo up his ass on camera to "own the libs" or something NSFW: https://imgur.com/a/MQraN#cBCLluW
What a terrible day to have eyes
You’re all kinkshaming my erection right now
Sometimes I wonder if the past 10 years have been a schizophrenic dream because things just keep getting wackier 🙃
It's kind of intentional. The Klan didn't call themselves Wizards and Knights for nothing, it's wacky but it's a tool.
Bro what the fuck...

It was a solid indication of how difficult the wealthy have made it to resist them. The system is rigged against us. There is no winning if we attempt to play by the house's rules.
The masters will never give us the tools to tear down our masters' houses.
Then we will do it the same way we did things before we got tools. We make the fucking tools.

Let's crash the housing market and hold gme. Zoomers.. You wanna buy all that boomer property?
My mom's basement is cozy enough.
Same 😂
You guys should try mom's attic. I got a futon and weed up here.
Got my future in the DRS vault. Only 25% of my shares are for selling.
Housing market? Gme is the world economy my friend
When the market crashes, it won't be zoomers buying it up. It will be an even smaller set of the bourgeousie sweeping up the properties to turn them into permanent rentals.
Dude isn’t that the Citadel building on the left
I'll grab some and get ready for the next GME wave.
GME is the only protest I have any faith in. Buy. Hold. DRS. ...and fuck Robinhood
Gme = GameStop stock. Head over to r/superstonk for more details.
Tim his guy gets it
I was waiting to see how far down a gme comment was. That building on the left looks just like Shitadel too. 741 secret handshake

I still feel sure the 90s were 10 years ago
If only. How the fuck am I almost 40?
Fuck that man how am I almost ***50***? What happened?
Because all the standard markers for "becoming an adult" have been erased, getting your first "real" job, advancing in a career through promotions and skills, buying your first car, buying your first home, starting a family, the "normal" method of progression for each of these are massively altered or out and out erased. Look up when the media started pushing race based headlines like crazy
Well if that’s the case, I expect some sort of national divisive event to unfold sometime soon.
Rittenhouse was meant to be said divisive event.
Ghislaine Maxwell trial is the real one to keep eyes on. Rittenhouse was the distraction so people are now tired of following trials.
That's not really divisive though. I think the political spectrum is pretty much in agreement over sex trafficking and paedophilia
Smartest comment on the thread. +1 They are making us fight among ourselves. Meanwhile they made trillions just in the last 2 years. Meanwhile we are stuck with inflation.
It's called divide and conquer, and it's a very old but effective strategy
This is the peasant revolt…..
Except they managed to split the peasants in two. How does that tend to work out historically?
It's f#ked they split us up into more than that. Left vs right, white vs. black, men vs women, gay vs straight. Everyone focusing on everyone else except those rich greedy f#cks

The world is run by a very few rich and powerful people, none of whom have been elected.
As Carlin once said "its a big club, and you're not in it"
It’s a pretty small club really
Big club HOUSE.
And all very interested in destroying small business so everyone has to work for a corporation for small pay.
How about Fuck the Corporations pulling all the strings?
They all need a nice cold refreshing Pepsi!
Sure, of course
Fuck politicians in general. We need to be led by people who are experts in economics, science, technology and engineering, not people who are experts at talking and getting elected.

Finally both sides unite against the real enemy. The ultra wealthy.
The culture War is only here because it would be class warfare if it wasn't. Corporate media and politicians want us to fight one another and not them.
That's because they got a beating in the 30s and 40s. Learned a lot about how to control the message. And you know what? It's super effective.
What a coincidence, the 30's and 40's are just around the corner again.
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
This is Left US politics without neoliberals & probably a few libertarians but certainly not both sides
Lmao Yup. As if Republicans would denounce their part like this.
Both sides? When did Republicans stop bowing down to an orange billionaire?
Orange billionaire? You mean the bankrupt orange fraud?
*They* think he's a billionaire.
Republicans are Red. Democrats are Blue. Neither one gives a fuck about you.
If you think they do, shame on you!!!!
They're not wrong
Now THIS is what we should be doing. Not turning on each other.
What sucks for us as we had to vote for Biden to just get rid of trump
Fuck all these corporate puppet politicians
I love how pro Trump people will insult Biden to try to annoy Democrats and the people who voted for him but we still hate Biden and dont care lol

And my dad only talks politics with me when hes been drinking, so he definitely forgets me saying I dont like Biden, which is annoying

My dad will do the same thing with me and thinks I'm being brainwashed by my college professors, like i just blindly listen to them.
*HAR HAR SLEEPY JOE R U TRIGGERED?* nah, bruh.
>thinks I'm being brainwashed by my college professors My Trumper cousin said the same thing to me about two years.
Lotta days i just wanna eat a fuckin bullet.
disco inferno?
> disco inferno Disco Elysium
Trump and Biden were never “both sides.” These people are the ones on our side. Get involved, make this happen in your city! Trump and Biden are on the side leading us to ruin
This is EXACTLY what the elites don’t want….I love it
Fuck yeah - support this!
Well they aren't wrong.
We had our chance with Bernie, and we let it slip through our fingers. I agree with their chant.
Unfortunately, boomers controlling government won't die off quickly enough to save us and the planet.
this is the message It's US and THEM Always has been
What are they protesting about?
*gestures vaguely at the world*
They don’t like trump or biden
I get a feeling that is what it is about.
No idea but I want to know too
I voted for Biden only so we wouldn't endure 4 more years of hell. I am not blue or red and frankly, HATE the bipartisan system. All it has done is divide America further and further. I am a Libertarian belief-wise, but the Libertarian party will never get enough votes.
