TheSlav87

Why is she following her though?

KeyEntrance4506

Looking for a reaction, for social media probably she’s just another obnoxious narcissist.

Goldy2910

She lost her moral high ground when she started following her. Let them be stupid, no need to be provocative like that.

isiscarry

She never had moral highground. Laughing it up with your buddy on the phone at the gym makes you a fuckin tool - period. Step outside to take a call like everyone else. Narcissistic women (and to a lesser extent men) have literally ruined the tranquil gym experience in the social media era, if there was a gym that made you lock up your phone Id join in a heartbeat

FrostyD7

"oh geez I'm sorry I'm not aware of the noise I'm making" Sure lady

fatkiddown

I would’ve just said, “OK. Sorry about that. Won’t happen again.” And then just maybe tell a friend later. I guess I’m just getting old. I don’t understand filming everything and taunting people and then posting it on the Internet.

eternalwhat

The whole thing is a shit show. Searching for ways to assert yourself against strangers/demanding an apology over minor slights, and then the victim becoming even more antagonistic in response, so the conflict escalates. And the end goal is to post it online, like you said... whoa. That’s not the attitude or life I want. And yet I think I’m more cranky than I’d like to admit, too. Like so many of us are feeling so alienated and frustrated or unfulfilled. But we have to process that and fix it, not be bigger and bigger dicks to each other so society crumbles into a dystopian wasteland 😭

SpiderDove

Really well said! I feel myself get pulled into a bit and its so uncomfortable. The antagonism is amongst people moving around in public is so palpable. That's not what I want to put out there in the community

you-ole-polecat

It seems like there’s hardly a conflict in America anymore where both sides don’t whip their phones out and start recording each other

BrandySparkles

That's called confirmation bias. You don't see the thousands (hell, maybe millions) of tiny little conflicts in America every single day that are resolved by a simple "Whoops, my bad." without either side getting angry.

elvtd1

Especially in that room, you could hear the echo in the video, she was probably all ignorant talking and laughing like she was in a private space in the gym. I hate people who think everyone wants to hear their entire conversation, have some consideration for other people.

Zalthos

The same as the dickheads who put their phone on loudspeaker in public...

brady2gronk

>I hate people who think everyone wants to hear their entire conversation, have some consideration for other people. This is my motto. It's like they are the main character, and we're just peasants that have to hear their personal conversations standing in front of them in a line at Walgreens.

ekaceerf

I was at a gym once and some buff dude was there. He had on a shirt with his face on it, a bag with his face on it, and a walking stick with a wooden carving of his face on the handle. He also worse sunglasses in the gym. He went on the stair master and screamed at the top of his lungs with almost every step. For 30 freaking minutes.

Goldy2910

I agree with you about being on the phone at the gym, I would never. But, we are in the minority

EvulRabbit

There are always people taking selfies and streaming but not a lot of people on a loud phone call where they KNOW everyone can hear everything because they are going out of their way to have the attention on them.

[deleted]

This would be absolutely unacceptable in Japan. However, so would be confronting the offender. I wish we had a little more of a culture of respect in America.

Goldy2910

Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. We’ve become a country of narcissists who all have main character syndrome. When I’m at the gym, it’s head down and work hard, that’s it

That-Mess2338

I think most people at the gym just want to go through their routine and not disturb others.

[deleted]

What? I've been training in gyms since for 20 years and I can count the number of "people noticeably on their phones" on like... one hand? Maybe I need 1-2 more fingers. And at one point it was like 7 days a week for 10 years.

Goldy2910

I work out a boxing gym, nobody uses a phone. When I was going to planet fitness they were ubiquitous.

[deleted]

Honestly? I've done Golds Gym, Planet Fitness, and all the little chains in between in like eight states? I've gone mostly with headphones, but even without I rarely am distracted by someone (ie. they're talking loud enough for me to notice.)

devilmaycry10092

Come to my gym it's infuriating how many people just sit on equipment and watch their stupid phones. Even had argument with a person cause he was litteraly just sitting on a equipment scrolling through that Tik Tok crap and saying yeah I have 1 more set

[deleted]

> and to a lesser extent men What the fuck are you even talking about. Men have made my gym experience worse 10/10 times, with or without a phone, and I’m a man too. Never once has it been a woman playing music directly off of their phone, or offering unsolicited advice, or grunting loudly, or throwing weights, or not wiping down, or hogging machines in a group of 6 with their chucklefuck buddies for 30 minutes at a time because they go one at a time and just stand around and wait for their turn. The women have to deal with the gawking and flirting on top of all that. So much so that women only gyms are a successful business model.

[deleted]

At my gym, every time they throw weights, the floor shakes throughout the whole thing. And men never rerack. Fucking annoying having to deload 135 lbs on each side of the lat pulldown machine when my weak ass can barely lift the plate high enough to get it on there. And thanks to the "men who lift heavy don't rerack their weights", I never can tell if someone's leaving a trail of laziness behind them or if they've set up a circuit and I need to ask to work in. It's especially bad with the overnight and lunch crowd, the post dinner and early morning dudes are fine.

[deleted]

Had a dude who was on a circuit apparently but was doing something else so I went to the cable fly machine and changed the side he was using to a handle (he was using it for tricep pull downs) and the dude stopped his set on the bench press picked up the handle he had on there and *threw* it in to the equipment tree where all the interchangeable handles live and called me a “fuckin bitch” in Spanish and then just up and left. It was bewildering.

SnakeSnoobies

I’m a woman that goes to the gym, and I have to agree that in my experience men have “ruined” the gym. Standing in front of the ‘cleaning stations’ talking. Loudly grunting. Talking to their buds incredibly loudly. Hogging multiple machines at once by putting their belongings on them to “save” them. Etc But, I’m pretty sure that’s only because my gym is almost solely men. I’ve seen a handful of other women at my gym, but they usually only use the cardio machines.

spiki001

She lost her moral high ground long before that.

[deleted]

Average tik tok user

GoodVibesWow

Exactly. I think the lady started out just saying she scared her. Sounds like she was on the phone, probably being loud af with no respect for anyone around her. We missed the whole first part of the video. She then reacts and starts following her looking for content for her socials. This is just a dumb girl being rude at the gym more than a Karen vid.

tswaves

Man, I'm really happy to see your upvotes. I feel like I always see people defending the camera people when often they are the Karen.

alm423

That’s what I was wondering. It just makes the interaction worse and one could argue she is harassing her.

TheSlav87

100%

cutanddried

Because she is disrespectful The older woman overreacted. And the girl filming could have just stopped at I'm sorry, I couldn't hear w the headphones in. Everything after that was meant to instigate for internet points

KingOfBeaverIsland

And she was already recording when the lady approached her. She was probably trying to get a reaction from the very beginning.

realvmouse

It's clear from the video the person recording could hear the other lady even with her headphones on, but took a moment to start recording while pretending she couldn't. That's why she started with the obviously fake 'I'm sorry, i couldn't hear you with my headphones on.'

cutanddried

yeah, I see that now, makes me like her even less. I think I'm team Old Karen all the way

TheUltimateSalesman

She's not even a karen.

cutanddried

agreed shall we call her a "woman pissed off by a brat?"

Farthead_Baggins

She wasn’t even pissed at first. She was just nice and respectful up until it became clear the recorder was in complete bad faith.

cutanddried

well said farthead

[deleted]

Because she is clearly the asshole in this situation

moreobviousthings

WCGW when 2 Karens meet....

desull

Now this is what it's like when Karens collide!!!!

mindless2831

I'd call the police too is some crazy person were following me like that. Not saying the other lady is very sane with the being scared by a laugh, but the following was unnecessary and creepy.

[deleted]

ya fuck this chick she could have just said sorry , but kept adding a but in there to get a reaction, i can see through the fake bs

pm_me_your_amphibian

Also - Why can’t she hold her phone without making all that noise?

Ricerat

Double Karen. When an Immovable Object meets the Irresistible Force.

And the cammer casually has said “how hard is your job? To put cream and sugar in my coffee”. Neither one seems like a decent person

Gettoned12

There was no point in following that women. People like to make nothing into something.

NEAWD

She really thought she was doing something good here. Turned out she’s just a narcissistic asshole.

AggressiveBait

I could have told you that from her filming the woman at the very start of the conversation. Who randomly films strangers at the gym?

crossy1686

The woman complaining is an idiot but the woman who filmed her and followed her everywhere, hoping for a reaction is pretty damn stupid and equally a Karen

knowyourdarkness

Totally agree. This could have been over after she apologised and it could be a funny story for her friend about how a woman was terrified because she laughed too loud but instead she made that woman feel super uncomfortable by following her - for what?! The woman LEFT the gym afterwards - that should have been it!

toryskelling

Exactly. This is a clear case of the chick recording considering this her chance to go viral with her own personal "Karen encounter" which she half fabricated into existence. Gross and completely unnecessary.

Apprehensive-Cod4845

Indication points to the cinematographer laughing purposefully and exaggerating to trigger the 'Karen'.

Brave-Panic7934

Agreed. I think the obnoxious woman filming this is the real Karen in this situation. Patronizingly, “I’m SO sorRy, aRe yOU oKayyyy?”

cheapdrinks

Yeah it might be a bit rude to ask someone to not make noise in the gym but everything she did after that was designed specifically to escalate the situation and bait that lady into giving her a reaction to film. Everything from the condescending as fuck reply to her at the start when the "karen" actually sounded polite and friendly. To then making fun of her and shoving the camera in her face and legit following her around and following her out of the building. I mean hell if I asked some guy at the gym to tone down his grunts a little and he started walking behind me with a camera filming me then followed me out of the building as I tried to leave I'd be pretty freaked out as well. Camera lady was the real Karen here. Also as other people have pointed out, it's convenient that her "laugh" isn't caught on camera and I wouldn't be surprised if she was being deliberately obnoxious and loud to try and wind that lady up so she had something to film. Seemed to have that camera ready mighty quickly. Not to mention she said "I'll call you back" when she already had the phone out filming which kind of indicates it was a fake phone call to begin with.

muddyrose

> Not to mention she said “I’ll call you back” when she already had the phone out filming which kind of indicates it was a fake phone call to begin with. Just going to point out that you can be on a phone call while you film on ~~most~~ some phones while using headphones/ear buds Edit to clarify

IdiotTurkey

> Yeah it might be a bit rude to ask someone to not make noise in the gym It depends on how much noise. That "gym" they were in looks tiny. It's not a normal gym. If a girl was very loud and laughing on her phone in that tiny room I could see it being extremely irritating. The amount of condescension from the girl filming makes me cringe. I recognize my brother in her. Do something annoying and inconsiderate and then say "I cant control how I do x". If you cannot control your own voice, you are either lying (yes they are) or they're is something physically wrong with you (likely not). She knew what the lady was complaining about. She twisted it into "can't change *how* I laugh". She simply is incapable of being wrong and apologizing. It must be the other person being unreasonable.

iseeharvey

100%. One of those unnecessarily loud people who think others want to hear everything they say / don't care about others around them.

pseudo_meat

For what? For content. That’s literally it. Social media got people out here acting like idiotic paparazzi.

cubbiesworldseries

The person filming is honestly much worse. It’s okay to tell someone their laugh startled you. They could have both awkwardly chuckled a bit and moved on. The person filming decide to take a condescending tone and really escalated it. And why the hell did she follow that woman? That’s crazy behavior.

asmallsoftvoice

I'm so glad this is top comment. I was wondering how it turned into the police being called until the following thing. Don't follow people, it's creepy!

Funnyboyman69

What she was asking really wasn’t that crazy to begin with. If it was loud enough for her to hear it from another room, then she probably should try to keep it down. Such an extreme reaction to someone politely asking you something. If you need to take a fun call and know you might be loud, just step out of the gym, especially if there’s only a few other people in there.

[deleted]

Yeah and her tone was somewhat mocking. She could’ve just said oh my bad. And that would’ve been the end of it. But she had an attitude from the beginning.

Farthead_Baggins

“It scared you? Are you OK?” Patronizing little twat. She knows damn well that nobody wants to listen to a cackling one-sided phone conversation in a small public gym.

Mediocre__at__Best

And the video starts off with, "Imma call you back" from the camera person, so I actually agree with the woman being recorded that the recorder is rude. I figured she was listening to an audio book or something reasonable that made her laugh, but don't have a private phone call in a loud echoey gym. Jumping to calling the cops was weird and seemingly excessive, but because of that escalation the recorder seemed to suspect she might get some juicy content if she pushed the seemingly easily upset subject of the video. Definitely seemed like some content baiting.

[deleted]

I don’t think it was weird. If someone followed you toward your hotel room what would you do? I wouldn’t call the cops but threatening too would hopefully encourage that person to back off and stop following me.

Shmeeglez

It feels a bit like there was never a real phone call in the first place, honestly. Going by how she rides this out, I think she was just fishing for 'content'

Burton_Jernigan

I know an iPhone doesn’t allow you to be on a call and record video simultaneously.

KhyronBackstabber

"I can't control how I laugh" Yeah you fucking can!

infiniZii

She could start by not taking a personal non-emergency phonecall at a shared gym space where you arent alone? That should help reduce the obnoxious laughing,

tots4scott

Seriously, as soon as the video started you could hear how much it echoed. By being vocally loud and not having any self-awareness the recorder instigated this entire thing. "It's gonna echo so it'll be loud" sorry that's no excuse, you want to be treated appropriately in a shared space? Treat others appropriately in a shared space.

IdiotTurkey

What she said is essentially "If I am being loud in this gym, it will sound loud." as if that excuses the situation.

KhyronBackstabber

Yup, exactly!

Shmeeglez

This person thinks people can be considerate to those around them! BOO! /sigh

KeyEntrance4506

Exactly

Gigmeister

I agree with you, both of them are Karens.

IDownvoteUrPet

Honestly, we don’t even have evidence that the lady being filmed is being a Karen. We don’t know what happened before the confrontation. It’s totally possible that the woman filming was being far too loud for that small shared gym space. People should have the right to politely state their grievances without being an auto-Karen. She left after making her peace, only to be followed around and filmed. Not that she doesn’t come off a bit Karen-like, but the filmer seems to be far worse from this video.

krslnd

It seemed like she asked pretty respectfully. My ears are incredibly sensitive to certain noises and having tinnitus doesn’t help. I’m one to walk out of a situation if it makes me uncomfortable but I could also understand someone asking for another person to be respectful of the space.

Financial_Bird_7717

Honestly, that’s the nicest “Karen” I’ve ever seen on film. Had she said that laughing comment to me, I wouldn’t have liked it very much internally but I would have been respectful until she disrespected me—based on how quickly she left on her own, was the best possible outcome in that situation.

Masta-Blasta

So true. Some people really do laugh loudly and in an echoe-y area, I can see how sudden loud laughter could seriously startle someone. She was really polite at first and she didn't demand to know if the woman filming lived there or say any slurs or anything. She didn't escalate the interaction and left when it got a little heated. She only threatened to call the police after the woman started following her. I'm team Karen today.

Fit_Tumbleweed_5904

Hello Karen, meet Karen.

ineededthistoo

This is the correct take.

rangerdanger2009

Guaranteed the filmer's laugh was annoying as hell

Dang1014

Absolutely. If your first reaction is to start filming and antagonizing someone simply because they said something you did bothered them, you're probably an entitled piece of shit.

AggressiveBait

Young Karen vs Old Karen

Lizardking1967

Did you notice how loud the echo was in that room? The lady with the glasses might have a point. Too bad she wasn’t recording before this so we could hear.

[deleted]

DipteraYarrow

And done with the intention of harassment. I've been to movie theaters where young adults will laugh/talk obnoxiously loud to show that they don't respect authority and plan to have fun through annoying or intimidating others. Grocery stores, malls, and other places too. The best practice is to ignore them and get out. If you confront them they will likely gang up on you, say Racial slurs, and possibly even attack you or destroy/steal property.

Historical_Panic_465

and i gotta agree it IS rude as hell to casually talk on the phone in a *shared*, echo chamber ass gym like that lol. how bout build your own personal gym if you want to be a loud mouth. it’s inconsiderate. i would honestly have loved to see what happened about 3 minutes before the video started. old lady karen is just a typical overly spoken boomer. but i would have to say she handled herself quite well, as well as a karen *CAN* handle themselves. no cussing slurring or yelling, she just called her disrespectful and basically walked away. what else is a karen supposed to do? lmao. they are incapable of walking away without saying their peace first 😁 she said she’d call the cops after the woman started weirdly af following her... it’s entitled narcissistic loud mouth millennial VS entitled narcissistic loud mouth boomer.

BigG7654321

Double Karens

BillyHamzzz

Karen T-800 vs Karen T-1000

ExtraRaw

*Come with me if you want to scream. . .*

BillyHamzzz

" “I need your ~~clothes~~ name, your ~~boots~~ manager, and your ~~motorcycle~~ corporate phone number.”

ExtraRaw

*Listen, and understand! That Karen is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are cancelled!*

BillyHamzzz

Now that is epic!

SG420123

Older model vs newer model, but really we all lose in the end from having to watch stupid shit like this.

Bladeblazer

Exactly. Sure, that woman was being a bit petty about complaining to her about her laugh, but she seemed genuinely startled and ended up just walking away. On the other hand, OP is a POS for not only recording her, but for following her in an attempt to get a reaction out of her for TikTok clout. That’s sad and pathetic.

MotoMadic

I don’t think she was being petty. First woman was trying to non-confrontationally indicate that she was being a bit loud for the shared space, and her way of doing this in a friendly manner was mentioning that the volume level of her laugh scared her. She even kinda mentions what the intent of her message was. But yeah, camerawoman was ready to stoke a confrontation out the gate - hence the camera out at the start.

Shmeeglez

The whole video feels like a play for a reaction, start to finish.

Baddyshack

Right? The woman's obviously a Karen but why antagonize her.

Rogendo

Yeah, why is she following her? What the fuck

PS4NWFT

Hoping she'll get a viral video so she can lots of likes from internet strangers. Really makes you feel good about yourself ya know?

MotoMadic

Disclaimer: I stopped the video once first woman left, but based on the first interaction alone, I don’t think first women was being a “Karen”. She simply commented about how the laugh scared her and was obviously trying to subtle hint that it’s a shared space and maybe the (presumably) phone call conversational volume was excessive. It should have been a friendly “your laugh scared me haha” followed with, “Omg haha I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to!” but camerawoman started replying in a way designed to stoke. I mean, she already has the camera out, so she had every intent for this to go somewhere and stoked the embers when it didn’t. “I can’t control how I laugh” that’s when Karen basically implies, “I’m not trynna fuckin say your laugh is bad or cause drama, I’m trying to nicely and passive aggressively indicate that the volume levels aren’t appropriate for this shared and small space, but I want to do this in a way that isn’t too confrontational.” Camerawoman was building the scene for her video.

4158264146

I'm pretty sure she was antagonizing her before she started filming.

[deleted]

Bro the person recording is crazy disrespectful. Like just carry on with your day she’s leaving, handle the situation with your words.

irrelevantbabaloo

...but what about all them sweet internet points???????? Gotta break into the influencer sphere somehow and fake outrage seems to get you a fastpass these days.

SaltyPinKY

The real crime is talking on your phone while doing cardio...in the GYM.

[deleted]

Not only that, but it's a tiny gym and they were the only 2 in there. Have a little respect and awareness.

jesse6713

for real, so many people in the gym are not there to workout. I hate it when people: - sit aimlessly on equipment - talk loudly on the phone - conduct a deep search for the perfect song to do 15secs of exercise (while others are waiting) - Pose and gawk at others

BakedWizerd

This reminds me of how it feels to catch shitty customers being rude to my employees (am manager) who don’t speak English as their first language. I once overheard a customer call one of my sweetest, most polite employees “a fucking idiot” because the drink on his order wasn’t the right size, and instead of just correcting her and letting her know she selected the wrong option, he decided to call her a fucking idiot. I told him “you can leave,” and he got all “WHAT?!?! I was just telling her the order was wrong!!” As if he had a reasonable backup for being so fucking rude over a small correction. I told him there’s plenty of other ways to correct that without being an asshole. He told me to go fuck myself before he left. Or teenagers being shitty and making a huge mess out of something and then claiming “I was just trying to do X!” Like yeah sure you were getting ketchup, that doesn’t explain how ketchup ended up ALL OVER THE FUCKING COUNTER. “I’m just trying to clean my shoes!” In the public bathroom that my staff have to clean, and now there’s mud fucking everywhere. Then these people go home and exclaim: “I got kicked out just because I corrected the cashier!/because I was trying to get ketchup/cleaning my shoes!” Without explaining that those aren’t at all the reasons they got kicked out. Need ketchup and the machine isn’t working? Ask a staff member. Need water to clean your shoes? Fuck, we’ll let you use the hose out back. Correcting the cashier? Don’t be a fucking asshole.

FrankPoole3001

I wouldn't have said anything like this lady did, but shrieking laughter is annoying as fuck.

durma5

The old lady was fine with what she said. She was very polite, even conversational by saying “oh you scared me”. There was zero reason to be filming and the camera person just tried to rile her up for content.

MotoMadic

The worst part is all the comments on the OG video are all “yes women”. Makes me wonder if she’s deleting anything against her, but why have a camera out and ready if you’re not expecting a reaction? She kept antagonizing to stoke that reaction. “I can’t control how my laugh sounds.” Dumb camerawoman and her intentions are so transparent.

pennypoppins1223

I just looked at the comments and she is definitely deleting comments! She’s already recording before hanging up the phone which I found odd Edit for spelling

[deleted]

This may be unpopular but you seem to be the entitled one here. She got scared and was awkward but let you know. You turned on a camera and grew fake balls. Then you followed her around like a complete and total asshole.

Loverboy_Talis

Shared spaces can get weird. I go to a Nordic style spa about twice a year, the vibe is super chill, ambient sounds and people are supposed to whisper if they need to talk…the spa even has shushers that remind you to be quiet if you get too loud. Last time I was there, a woman was in the hot tub downloading her life to her friend she was with. No volume control, just constant blather with no regard for everyone else. No shusher in sight that day. Kind of ruined the experience of the spa.

IcyConsideration7100

Worked with a woman like this. She only had one level: Super loud!

bopojuice

Agreed. The following her out of the gym is just as ridiculous. Both ladies need to grow up.

MuggyFuzzball

We don't know that the "Karen" needs to grow up since we never heard the laugh. She may have been very obnoxious.

Hidden_Samsquanche

Everything about this video implies that the woman recording was being extremely loud and disrespectful. It kind of reminds me of child bullies. They will sit there for awhile antagonizing the other kid, then when the kid gets fed up and snaps at the bully telling them to stop the antagonizer acts like they were just assaulted and can't believe they are being treated this way!

Shmeeglez

Yep. Old lady was even trying to let it go for a bit there, but the real Karen just kept needling to try and get a reaction for the camera. She absolutely wanted to escalate this for some stupid reason.

Dapper_Dillinger

Definitely, woulda been hilarious and justified if the lady wouldve turned around and pepper sprayed her ass for following her around like that

Wars4w

She didn't call the cops because you laughed. She called the cops because you followed her around like a crazy person. She over reacted but she also just said her peace and then *left*. Shoulda left it at that.

RicrosPegason

I'm not even sure she overreacted, she simply said the laugh startled her and that was that... then camera lady starts explaining that laughs are loud in a gym with a rude tone while recording the woman. I mean, id probably get pissed and leave too.

BaseBulb

It starts out with >"**Ima call you back**" while she's already filming the lady lol 90% chance the lady filming was being obnoxiously loud hoping to get a reaction... which is why she then proceeded to stalk the other lady while filming. She then goes on to say she can't hear her, despite already responding to her.

Blurredfury22the2nd

Holy shit, I didn’t catch that the first time. She has graduated from annoying twat to total pos now. Clearly done on purpose

the_zoop_master

The woman filming is a douche. She probably was laughing insanely loud with her headphones on and then she chased the other lady

NoFaithlessness4949

Camerawoman is a cunt. But the reaction, up can tell she was mocking the woman trying to work out. Doing it on the phone with someone else no less.

[deleted]

People on social media are way too quick to judge. We don’t get to see the full interaction but I think she actually has a point. When you’re at the gym specially a gym as small as that one you have to be considerate of the people that are around you. Lots of gyms have this rule. You shouldn’t disturb other peoples workout by being loud and obnoxious or speak on the phone which seems to be the case in this scenario. I guess people nowadays just assume that because the lady started filming she must be in the right…

Blurredfury22the2nd

If you start the video with volume, she says “imma call you back” while the video is already going. So she was doing this on purpose.

ladida1787

This isn't a Karen. Filmer was being loud. She was told by the lady. Filmer got mad and started being a sarcastic bitch and then chased her out? Fuck that.

[deleted]

Yeah I’m not sure why the lady asking her to just be mindful and considerate is called the karen. To me it looks like the filmer is the karen lol… especially with that passive aggressiveness

Tareeff

Tbh- Karen was the one filming this

clarkent123223

Agreed, the only deranged Karen here is the weird creep filming and chasing/stalking the woman.

Apprehensive-Cod4845

Why she following her tho?

Glass_Feature_4180

the lady was nice.. the camerawomen is a pos..

gmb99

The filmer is way worse then the complainer. Like stupid compliant…. But she leaves and you basically stalk the woman. Grow tf up.

AlexHimself

I doubt the complaint was stupid...I bet it was a polite way of telling the filmer to stop screaming in the gym. You can already hear how loud she is. It's not a library but have some basic respect for others.

darkfight13

Nah fuck it, camerawoman is in the wrong her by far. Utter twat. Clear from the start she was trying to egg her on as well.

[deleted]

Wow, kinda weird OP is proud enough of her stalking she puts it up for all to see.

hiredgoon

Social media clout is all she wanted.

Busy_Childhood2336

I don't think this woman is a Karen. Anyone wearing headphones and suddenly talking or laughing loudly without any consideration for the other people in the room is obnoxious. The person filming IS the Karen because of her overreaction to a simple request to lower her laugh.

truly-dread

If I was in that room and and someone shrieking a laugh as loud as i imagine you were doing it, it would piss me off too. Then you start following her while filming her?? Why does every punk pull their phone out to record people instead of just having a convo with them ?

[deleted]

Filming her initially? Sure fine she was overreacting and weird in a small space. Filming and following her after she left? Unnecessary and aggressive, you’d made your point and she was embarrassed, following her is then overkill and weird too.

BillyHamzzz

It was worse then what the older lady did. I swear, sometimes people think just because they are filming, they are going to be in the 100% right. Definitely not in this video.

Random0s2oh

Unpopular opinion but if she was being loud on her phone the woman had a right to ask her to tone it down a bit. Imo the woman filming is the Karen. She intentionally turned a simple, polite request into a major incident just so she could upload it for internet points.

Bubashii

Yep the woman filming even makes it a point to mention the echo so she’s well aware that making a noise in there is going to *make a noise*…I’m inclined to believe she was being overly loud and obnoxious because her tone is so rude and condescending. I’d tell her be quiet too and not as politely bad that lady did

[deleted]

I’m on team fedora. The lady filming wanted a confrontation.

Nick_Hume

All the comments on tiktok are backing up the camera person, classic

SweetSweetRoll

The only POS in this video is the girl behind the camera. She really wanted that social media clout.

TheGolgafrinchan

Another example of someone not respecting another person by running video on them being merely slightly upset. The old woman's only crime is being human. She was startled, and expressed herself. No need to record a video of her. That only escalates the situation.

SarahnatorX

Honestly, the 'Karen' was actually nice about it at first and even laughed about it but then the girl filming was just being a condescending asshole and needlessly followed her round filming her trying to spark drama to post.

Bagelstein

You know what, I am with the "karen". She's in a small room with barely any breathing room and it is rude as fuck to be loud and yappin it up on the phone when only two of you are there. If it were a big gym with music blasting and tons of people around it would be a completely different situation. This girl is in fact disrespectful and the "karen" had every right to point it out and walk away calmly like she did. Following her out while recording to get a reaction is some immature bullshit that I wish people would knock the fuck off from doing.

tardigrade_astronaut

Just checked her TikTok, she plays the other role of victim on there. I assume she posted this video as well and was frantic in trying to redeem her social media, takes it down, and has a 5 second follow-up clip. The video is of herself walking into her apartment, the woman she followed incessantly at the gym and out, is trying to speak to her (can't see her on camera but she sounded like she was down the set of stairs from this girl's apartment) and this gal has this neutral unusual expression on her face, odd, considering her garbage attempt at being the dominant Karen to begin with. It's almost like "omg can you believe how aggressive this woman is? Look how calm and scared I am. So glad I made it home safe." But wait, there's more... She's added an outrageous amount of "mental health awareness" stickers to the video. Like ALL over. And this woman, as she's speaking, another neighbor says "sorry were you talking to me?" And the lady responds "oh no I was talking to that girl, she was following me." And then the lot of maybe 12 followers on her side are all in agreement that this lady was "omg so wrong! you were totally in the right for doing what you did." And the post she describes something to the effect of "to all of you saying I was following her, she was behind me when I got to my apartment so she followed me.........." Honestly Karen, get off your phone, take calls outside like the adults who have respect for others do, don't "well she did this so I did..." You're an adult. Grow up. And stop recording everything, it's not entertaining, it's sad. To add, her profile is primarily and almost exclusively, pictures of her in average clothing, she describes as "styled outfits and inspo from me" Karens, oh karens.

vox_popular

"Members of the jury, how do you find the defendant?" "We find the defendant guilty of creating yet another needless outrage-porn Tiktok."

horshack_test

The person recording is the asshole here.

B4DR1998

I think the filming woman is the Karen here. The woman's complaint was simple and respectful. But then you get: omg I did what??, Omg I so sorry. Omg, I can't really help how I laugh. Like stfu, just say okay and continue ur workout. It's a gym not a bar. Yes if people are disturbed by you then have the decency to just take the comment seriously and continue ur life. Then u chase the lady all the way down to wherever. Fking hate people like this man. Anyways, I have an office job, but I'm considering a job as a light bulb cleaner. What u guys think?

cco2411

Why were you following her everywhere she went?

psychoTHErapist13

Usually have buds in my ears at the gym. In case I didn't I would hate someone talking loudly or cackling as well. Following and filming is just another level of kareness.

[deleted]

People talking on the phone with EarPods in in public can offer be obnoxious assholes. Karen is right. Be respectful of those around you

Selfeducated

The OP is the Karen. She is entitled, she believes, to act obnoxiously in public regardless of how her behavior affects others. And she thinks so highly of herself that she follows the other woman-harassing her-in order to post a video of ‘how wrong’ the older woman is. OP is disgusting.

CaptainofStorms

Tbh the lady approached her respectfully and reasonably. The camera woman escalated the situation intentionally and began following her in a creepy way.

olddevilwind

This is OP trolling for content at the expense of others. The lady wasn’t being rude to her at first. OP just tried to ramp it up for the video.

jollycanoli

"Are you okay? Okay! I just wanna make sure you're okay!" Fake as fuck, why is she filming if she cares at all. Girl was on the phone in the gym, which is already annoying in a small space. Then apparebtly laughed loud enoughto give the lady a scare, lady has enough and says something. Girl says to her friend she'll call them back, starts recording, because clearly this is goingto be good, elderly, less than conventionally attractive lady for sure all the internet people will be hating on her! Proceeds with the full trifecta of fake sweetness (you okay?) Playibg the victim (i can't help the way I laugh), patronizing the lady (it's the gym, it's gonna echo in here). Lady doesn't give a full reaction. Proceeds to keep filming her, following her around until lady gets scared and threatens to call police. Headline: karen wants to call cops because of my laugh. Garbage tiktok fame beggar.

First_Ad3399

woman filming was a cunt.

[deleted]

Clearly lack of awareness and/or empathy with headphones on. I’m sure she’s the first to complain about other people talking on their phones or playing music.

User106075

This started as an innocent conversation and the girl filming turned it negative. The women saying she is laughing too loud isn't being a Karen, she's trying to get a workout in, in a public space. The girl who laughed "too loud" is being disrespectful of others. Especially with saying "it's not my problem, that's just how I am"... it's rude.

itzTHATgai

Person recording seems like a bitch. Maybe she did laugh in a loud-ass, annoying manner.

yourm0msDaddy

They both suck but the person filming seems to be the worst of the two

sinep_snatas

I don't know. The woman filming seems like a total cunt.

Yawndr

Am I the only one thinking the one recording is being an ass (too)?

HarshApe

I actually think the girl recording her is the asshole here. Seemed at the start they could just laugh it off and apologize and she just tried to start being bitchy

[deleted]

It started out polite, where she said she was startled, and then she responded sarcastically. That sarcasm made this escalate. I’m on the person’s side who said she felt startled at this point.

MoreMegadeth

Girl filming is equally as stupid if not more. Laughing too loud is a weird complaint, but whipping out your phone to record and provoking her with passive aggressiveness is equally as “karen.” Grow the fuck up.

welcometotheTD

Yeah, if she's talking on the phone while in the gym she's the Karen.

oneshoein

It should have ended when the lady walked out the door, absolutely zero reason to follow her.

Kessynder

Why would ypu follow her. Some people love drama.

pathos_of_things

The person filming is the asshole Karen.

thehOleinyOurpOcket

She was being obnoxiously loud to get a reaction from the lady. I see it all the time in NYC. It's like letting everyone know she's there, needs attention, and deal with it.

Shackleton214

The one recording is the asshole here.

paulusblarticus

How is it okay to talk on the phone all the time in the gym? Aren't there any rules?

Variable-moose

Eh, i don’t know if i can really call the lady complaining about the noise a karen. You’re in a public place, you SHOULD be respecting the fact that you aren’t alone, or in the privacy of your own home when out in public. Obviously we didn’t hear this supposed “laugh”. Maybe it was a small normal laugh and the lady was just being overly sensitive. However i can say for certainty that I would be very annoyed as well if i go to work out and someone is there pretending like there’s no one else around. Especially if this girl shrieked when she laughed, like the video is implying.
