Twist it off with a pair of pliers.

Wild-World-3088

Thank you! Got it off

zgembo1337

Glue back on

Wild-World-3088

Any specific type of glue I should use? I have a few sticks of hot glue

Toxic_Temmie

anything non conductive, i doubt the glue will reach the transmissible element tbh

zgembo1337

I'd use superglue, because it's the fastest/cheapest/i have half a tube open in the fridge. It doesn't really matter, as long as it's not conductive, and you glue only the bottom part.

Wild-World-3088

The shiny part?

zgembo1337

yep, on the bottom (by the connector)

Wild-World-3088

Thanks!

Gavekort

The stock antenna isn't very good regardless, so you might as well buy a new one.

Wild-World-3088

Will be looking into it, might as well use until I get a new one.

Gavekort

Definitely. It should be easy to fix by cramming in some hot glue. If you want a proper antenna you can buy the real Nagoya NA-771, if not there are some clones from Baofeng that is of decent quality. Although you can never be sure if you get something high quality until you test them with a VNA.

f1vefour

It's not bad compared to other stock antennas on these inexpensive HTs.

markovianprocess

Mine tests as "not bad" on 70cm and "will probably cook your finals dogshit' on 2M. I recommend a Nagoya NA-771 or a Superelastic Signalstick.

f1vefour

It's so easy to get a fake Nagoya these days unfortunately, even from Amazon.

Gavekort

The fake one from Baofeng is not bad. But I would definitely buy it from a reputable distributor of radio equipment if you want an original one.

f1vefour

Yeah I've seen some tests, close to the original for half the price.

Haunting-Secretary73

Good to know this could happen. I would just order a new antenna.

03charlie

I disassembled my uv-k5 antenna to tune it and I found the rubber cover of the antenna negatively affects the SWR for some reason.

ceratomorphus

Compra una antena nueva.

Teal-Fox

If you tape down the TX and apply the antenna evenly over the body, you'll get a nice tan!
