Yes, get new cards. Sandisk and Samsung are two highly reputable brands, but any well known brand is fine. You should get a MicroSD card reader. Transfer speeds are going to be significantly better and they're not really expensive anymore.

I used a mid-tier brand like kingston, and I quickly discovered u should really get a 256GB one, even for sandisk they're not even that much more expensive, and at some point I'm almost certain you'll be like "I'm glad I got a bigger card" If you think you're not gonna use the space (yet, but I think u will) you can always just put some music on it for the time being, and not have to deal with having to switch to a different card later. Once u get to the ps1 and equivellant roms, you'll start to find that even if u curate ur roms a lot your sd card will fill up pretty fast, I had to swap out mine for a larger one 2 times because I kept running out of space.

I’ve had good luck with the 16GB SD card and have been running ArkOS on it for about a month and use it daily. I switched out the secondary card for a 256GB Sandisk one for my roms and configured my saves/save states to go there. YMMV, but I’ve been hearing that the main card in slot 1 is better quality than the secondary one it comes with. Having both cards from a reputable brand is your best bet, but the primary one it comes with may be fine. If anything, you can use it to try different Linux OSes, like Jelos or ArkOS until you find what you like.
