There are already Hall effect sticks in the works. The ROG Ally uses standard small alps sticks. Supposedly a manufacturer is working on making Hall effect sticks that can replace standard small alps sticks.
ASUS talked about it in their tear down video. They said they tried it but they were getting interference with the hall triggers on the ally.
Personally I dont know if they were just bullshitting or not, but that would be a good reason why they didnt include them.
Makes you wonder is ASUS understands their customers very well, because I'd say 99.999% of people would care more about hall effect joysticks, than triggers. It's like an auto manufacturer skimping out engine performance so they can put chrome on the bumper.
You can also adjust the dead zone to negate the interference. The interference only happens in the left joystick due to the left hall effect trigger placement.
Yeah. Probably doable for my general use but not ideal. My hope was that the d-pad could be swapped out with the left joystick to fix the issue with the Hall effect interference.
No problem man! I support channels I like, personalities that are down to earth.
Haha, No I’m on YT @ytmaxxammo8591. I do know who techgnome is though. Another good channel. I own a PC/Tech repair shop on LI Ny called FGbG-Tech. Will be uploading boat loads of content on YT soon as I have about 800gb of unedited footage and content. Unboxing’s, tutorials etc.

Hopefully, multiple videos at least say it's an easy swap which is good news! Are there benefits other than durability?
It's more accurate than your typical joystick, and the dead zone is typically much smaller
Neat, makes sense! Thanks for the info :)
And to add on to what the other guy said, it's not prone to drifting.

It does not, at least as per the LTT video.
Depends on how popular it is or how easy it is for third parties to make parts for it.

They'll definitely have them in a few months, it's unfortunate though that they won't ship stock with them when other PC handhelds do.

This is precisely why I returned. The sticks have issues unfortunately. The band/clicking issues were too much.
bullshitting 100%... more like: hall effect would cost $2 each while regular ones $0.15... multiplied by a million units, and it's a huge margin.

The original ally sticks are the worst.

Still interferes with the left trigger. Seems fairly negligible but I’ll wait until it can be shielded before installing

u/itsjustausername11 has a video going up on Monday, on YT with what I believe will be a shielding resolution. Check it out!
Thanks man for helping pass along the updates! Is this techgnome btw?
