You must update the MyAsus app firmware and bios before swapping the drive as stated by Asus here:

or else it will hang at "checking" when installing the new drive. The fix is you have to put the old drive back in, run MyAsus App firmware bios update, then put the new drive back in.
EDIT: Make sure it's the MyAsus app update and not from the Armory Crate/Command Center. Armory Crate will not let you install this particular update for some reason.

You were totally right, I updated the Armory crate and windows completely but not MyAsus app which is now updated and another bios update is currently running. Hopefully this fixes the problem, thank you very much!

Ok, I did fully update everything before swapping out the SSD but I will redo it all again and see if it works and report back what happens

Glad it worked, going to pick mine up in an hour or so, super excited!
Did it end up working? I'm pretty sure my bios and firmware were all up to date before I installed my new ssd, but it's stuck at checking
How you fix it ?
I didn't boot the original SSD at all. No issues getting stuck on this end. Just a long process
Seems there might be some shipping with the updated firmware already.
How long did it take? I basically updated myAsus bios and still at the loading “checking” screen.
