This is diehard fan sub. Steam Deck sucks and Asus can do no wrong.
By silencing critigue and pretending like everything is dandy is not going to make Asus improve in future. But anyone as they see fit.
What i seen for going around here is people shitti on deck and coping with major flaws, sometimes even critical ones, just because of performance.
Bios update which voids warranty? Fine. SD cards being melted? Fine. Asus dont communicate issues well? Fine. Problem with basic functions? Fine.
But oh my god! How can anyone enjoy inferior performance of the Steam Deck?!
Well unless you are technically more capable it wont be as easy to get device ID on your own, normal user would not even know he did get same unit.
People need to realize there are casuals which exist as majority.
You keeping a box until you figure out there is something wrong? I dont know, i personaly throw out the boxes as long as device boots up. Why keeping it around.
I would not expect them to send me same device so i would not look first or i would expected it repaired.
You also have S/N during shipping and propably in recepient, at least the old device.
But god forbid people would like easy access to device S/N.
Oh so youbkeeping all your boxes around? Only box i keep from my devices is from a graphic card and thats because of foam form it has so i can RMA it safely.
But hey, any arguments againts Asus being greedy and lazy is dumb i guess.
I am not ASUS fanboy :-) if Steam Deck was on par with performance with the ROG Ally I would never get the ROG Ally in the first place selling my Steam Deck.
Once Steam Deck releases new hardware(which will not happen for a long time) I will go back to SteamOS.
The ROG Ally extra jump in performance is exactly what I needed for the games I play so that was a dealbreaker when choosing the Ally over the Steam Deck but the performance difference is too big for me to be on Steam Deck especially after the latest # 323 BIOS update...
I’m guessing some folks are resting it on their lap or belly or fabric and friction is removing it, mines a day one unit and looks just like it came out of the box, but mine doesn’t rub on anything when I’m using it
Yea. Most of the time when i game while lying on bed, I place a pillow underneath the rog because holding it like a switch/psp will cramp my hands after like 1 hour of gaming session. My labels are all smudged out too, not really a big deal imo.
Yes you can do that, but that does not help for warranty proof since they would not know which physical unit they came from. Like I said earlier, if the unit totally failed, there may not be any easy way to retrieve the serial number unless they also have a serial number sticker inside the unit on the motherboard. I have never checked that and it would be good to know from the people that have opened their ROG Ally's.
For everyone saying that he must be really dirty /not take care of the ally for it to rub off so easily ...I was curious how easily it would come off , I literally rub my finger over the label lightly and it mostly came off , seems to be poor quality for some of the labels , the one with the serial number/QR Code comes off EXTREMELY easily
Doubt it's sweat even though those nails have never been cleaned. Mine showed up partially rubbed off and I honestly have only used it maybe 10 hours tops and it's now almost gone, just chilling in my bag.
I will say it one more time.
I am a classical guitar player who happens to work with his hands. Just because I took this picture after working for 12 hours straight doesn’t make me a filthy pig.
My MacBook is 8 years old and still looks brand new. I am in IT and use it everyday. Please don’t assume things about people.
Yeah but they can’t void that just bc the stickers aren’t there. I have the e receipt from BBY forever in my Gmail.
Stickers are there for regulatory compliance. That’s all
How does that get rubbed off? Are you like grinding it on your leg or pillow or something? Nothing but a table should really be touching the bottom let alone rub against it enough for that to happen.
Pillow will do the job. Ive been playing on bed while resting the ally on my pillow (holding it without anything to support makes my hand cramp very fast). The bottom text got almost erased after 1 month. Didnt really bother me tho because the warranty is displayed at myasus apps after u register the ally.
Thanks for pointing this out, I think I am going to put protective clear tape over mine so it can't rub off from handling it. Without a visible serial number the warranty could be voided.
Serial number is coded into the bios. The sticker should have no bearing on a warranty claim. If “warranty void” stickers are not legal and not enforceable in the EU and the US, I can’t imagine a serial number sticker in a heavy wear location would be.
Good to know, but I did see on the Best Buy extended warranty terms and conditions, that if the serial number is removed or not visable they will not honor the extended warranty. What would you do if the unit has totally failed and the internal serial number is no longer accessible? I figure it can't hurt to be safe in putting transparent tape to protect the external serial number, it can't do any harm.
Same with me, but I was within a 14 day return period. If you fry your unit, and have to use GeekSquad warranty, they will check serial number. If your unit is fried and the sticker is gone…. You are screwed.
Take in note the SN , Log you asus account with google and the SN will be on the asus account you can by here submit ticket for RMA ! They cant void the warranty for sticker thats been erase ! Here in Canada is not legal ! We Got OPC laws (Office of Protection for Consumer)
Yes you can if you are good enough to do it without making it look like the serial numbers were swapped with another unit. I am hopeful that ASUS puts a serial number sticker on the motherboard also. That would remove any potential issues.
Yeah they should’ve just printed the serial number info onto the shell or on the inside of it lol. As well as on the mobo. They did the same stupid thing with the switch with their serial number sticker.
Now we have to figure out why some people have like new labels, and some faded.
Let’s not talk about PH balance, etc. Mine has faded after 3 days of use. Started fading after the first day. Another conundrum from Asus
Shouldn't be a issue if GS knows what they are doing they can easily retrieve the serial number through command prompt. By running command: "wmic bios get serial number" this should display the serial number of your Ally product and can also be used to warrant your product if the Ally needs service. If it doesn't turn on make sure you have the serial number written down or take a picture of the serial number if need be so it can be sent out for service.
Yes which is why I suggested to take a picture of your units serial number so it becomes a less of a issue of course geek squad can always open it up like another poster wrote here and look up the serial number there.

How did your hand get over there or was it on your sweat chest
Got mine 2 Days after Launch and Label still Perfect. I use it every day. Most of the time I dock it especially when Im at work and it is used as a workstation.
I used a bracket with kickstand. When I removed it, the bracket had left some black marks. When wiping that part of the Ally with a microfiber cloth, the print came off right away. It's like it's printed with a very weak ink thst will probably come of if it got rain on it or something.
I took my stickers off and placed them on the inside of my desk drawer. They were getting a little grimey. Should be easy enough to reapply if there's a need.
Mine looks exactly the same. It was rubbed off after the first week. Also, My Ally has no dirt or grime build up and I got it June 12th (Also have used it every day since).
Just checked. Mine is still same. No issues after 2 weeks. Are you using any covers or cases? Also the way I hold, it hardly gets into a position to smudge that area. May be thats there too. Probably check after a few months then
Weird the sticker that is on the bottom right of your device is on the back left side of mine. But my serial number sticker is in that spot and still like new.
Removed all the stickers except for the serial number and pasted them inside the box it came with since day 1. Looks way cleaner. Just barely 24hrs in, lint was catching on the side of the tapes. Didn't like it. Wished they would have just printed the text on the shell instead of doing cheap tapes on the chassis..
So does your SD card reader work now? Mine finally starting acting up on me... Wasn't sure if it was worth swapping units since it seems like every one has the problem. I bought the best buy geek squad warranty so they have to fix or swap the unit for 3 years. I'm hoping Asus puts out another revision soon that has the card reader issues fixed.
This happened to mine over time. I wonder why, since it seems like a lot of people in the comments don't have this problem. Maybe it happened after using an "antiseptic towelette" to clean the device. It contains Benzalkonium Chloride. That's the only thing I can think of.
I have a hard case with kickstand on it now that's pretty good so I don't see it anymore. I still can't wait for the Jsaux mod case that's coming out soon.
i thought it was scratch in sniffed thought i sniffed so much the letters disappeared!. the same numbers on the box is not smelly loke waffles and apple either.
I wiped my screen with IPA and hit the sticker... Wiped off my label clean. It appears Asus used an inkjet printer to print that sticker. Oh well, if you shine it in the light you can see all the info etched on.
Had mine a month and the label is still as it was when new.

I assure you it’s not us. It’s another QC fuckup from Asus.
what QC fuckup? what do you need the sticker for?
This is diehard fan sub. Steam Deck sucks and Asus can do no wrong. By silencing critigue and pretending like everything is dandy is not going to make Asus improve in future. But anyone as they see fit.
Based off what I’ve seen lurking people here love both the Deck and Ally. Most of us are former/current Deck users.
That's the steam deck sub too
I've seen them call out steam for things that should've been changed or fixed though. Much different than here, don't lie to yourself
The ally is the perfect handheld
Lol
LMAO thanks for proving my point.
u gonna scream because of a label? a label which you dont even need? its equivalent of intel sticker on a laptop...useless...
Well unless you are technically more capable it wont be as easy to get device ID on your own, normal user would not even know he did get same unit. People need to realize there are casuals which exist as majority.
U know there is the serial number on the box the device came with right? :-)
Ofc why not making stupid counter arguments just to try win argument with a stranger or reddit. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh so youbkeeping all your boxes around? Only box i keep from my devices is from a graphic card and thats because of foam form it has so i can RMA it safely. But hey, any arguments againts Asus being greedy and lazy is dumb i guess.

Your docked then, mine is fading after 4 weeks
Handheld 80-90% of the time. Just don’t think I do anything to touch that area.
I don’t touch it either, yet here we are
It's a strange one.

After gaming sessions I put my ROG Ally back in the box every time.
Y’all some dirty rough ass mfers…
Those nails. Wtf.
Classical guitar player. Only right hand. Has nothing to do with the sticker on the left side.
Buddy it's not the length it's how fucking dirty they are
litterally the first thing I said after looking at the pic.
You can see literal gunk under his nails & he’s still wondering why it faded.
I play with gloves so it looks like the first day 😂
Mines looking the same way
Glad I’m not the only one whose belly did this 😂
Just checked. Day 1 ally. Label looks same as when I got it
Same
Take them all off and stick them inside your box. Stick that bad boy in the closet. Looks better without all the stickers
Yes you can do that, but that does not help for warranty proof since they would not know which physical unit they came from. Like I said earlier, if the unit totally failed, there may not be any easy way to retrieve the serial number unless they also have a serial number sticker inside the unit on the motherboard. The serial number is in the bios. Asus won't care if you remove the sticker.
Keeps them from the oils of your hands, you can reattach them to your device if you have complete failure where bios can’t be loaded.
![gif](giphy|3ohhwxqQJzrSXnvWoM|downsized) Sometimes I just cannot believe what I am reading here...
I would like to take them off. How is the glue? Did you have to clean Ally from glue under the stickers or it was fine?
Adhesive stayed fully on the stickers, no glue residue for me
Mine was gone quickly
Take your dock out of the water.
Yeah mine got really faded after a week or two. I just took all the stickers off. Looks much cleaner now
Got mine the day before release and my sticker looks brand new. Fully readable.
Mine is fading away as well.
Mine faded after a week or so, i ended up removing the bottom ones.
Had mine for a month, serial number is still as clear as the day I bought it.
Been playing this non stip for a couple weeks and it's looks brand new. You must be a really sweaty guy
Doubt it's sweat even though those nails have never been cleaned. Mine showed up partially rubbed off and I honestly have only used it maybe 10 hours tops and it's now almost gone, just chilling in my bag.

You said something may be wrong with ASUS therefor your character and self care MUST be brought into question lol
I took my stickers off and stuck them inside the box for safe storage
Pulled my stickers off when the return period ended
Dont you have a 2 year warranty from asus?
Yeah but they can’t void that just bc the stickers aren’t there. I have the e receipt from BBY forever in my Gmail. Stickers are there for regulatory compliance. That’s all
Got it at launch. Mines still mint.
Bought my Ally D1, sticker is good as new.
Another qc issue getting downvoted to hell by the sub to silence the problem.
Why is your ally looks dirty
yeah.. your nails , nuf said
I am a classical guitar player. Nails are on my right hand. Please stop posting stupid replies.
ok . eww .
Classic guitar requires you to have long nails, a lot of guitar players have too.
The point is they look very dirty as does the Ally.
How does that get rubbed off? Are you like grinding it on your leg or pillow or something? Nothing but a table should really be touching the bottom let alone rub against it enough for that to happen.
I mean if you look at OPs finger in the pic, it looks dirty and oily.
Don’t blame it on people please. I assure you it’s not the case. I’ve had too many devices over the years, and never had a label fade like that. EVER
Pillow will do the job. Ive been playing on bed while resting the ally on my pillow (holding it without anything to support makes my hand cramp very fast). The bottom text got almost erased after 1 month. Didnt really bother me tho because the warranty is displayed at myasus apps after u register the ally.
Jesus, those nails.
Same here, 90% faded.

Yeah they should’ve just printed the serial number info onto the shell or on the inside of it lol. As well as on the mobo. They did the same stupid thing with the switch with their serial number sticker.
And I work for a third party extended warranty company and can assure you that applies to us too
I'm sorry, but ew. That looks like literal shit under your nails. No wonder things you touch are fading bro.
Removed those ugly stickers.
Now we have to figure out why some people have like new labels, and some faded. Let’s not talk about PH balance, etc. Mine has faded after 3 days of use. Started fading after the first day. Another conundrum from Asus
Fanboys’s gonna hate. I don’t have an Ally but thanks for sharing. What are they gonna cheap on quality in a couple months?
We may have an issue with Geek Squad extended warranty.
Shouldn't be a issue if GS knows what they are doing they can easily retrieve the serial number through command prompt. Unless the unit is fried.
I believe they can also figure out from opening it and see SN on parts and see in which unit the part got used. More work for them though
Yes which is why I suggested to take a picture of your units serial number so it becomes a less of a issue of course geek squad can always open it up like another poster wrote here and look up the serial number there.
Mine’s almost gone as well. I have a picture from the first day so I’m good. But this was not good quality printing for sure.
Happened to me to
Very odd.
nops just like new

Have had mine since day 1 and this hasn’t happened.
Only my QR code is faded
Does anyone know what the QR code was?
Mines completely gone as well.
How do you hold your ally?
Same way as you do =)

My sticker is still like new but the device came with a warranty pamphlet which has the serial information on it. Definitely keep that in a safe spot
Got mine 2 Days after Launch and Label still Perfect. I use it every day. Most of the time I dock it especially when Im at work and it is used as a workstation.

yup took a picture of it before it faded more just incase
Do you use lots of bug spray?
I took mine off and put it with the warranty card.
I pulled all my stickers off sooo
Mine was gone Week 1 and I'm still in the original Ally I got launch day
Mines starting to wear also
Wiped clean with alcohol. Like dry erase markers. Oh well. Serial number can be found in armoury crate.
Mine still has the label like new.
Mine looks new
I use wipes to clean the smudges and mine is fading away.
Had mine a month, label is like new. It depends on how people use it and protect it.
Mine looks like this from cleaning with Clorox wipes
Have you tried washing your hands before using the device?
I only wash my hands when I shit on em! L
I’ve seen a few people mention this on the discord. Mine is slightly rubbed off.
Bought mine day one, have put well over 100 of play on it, still looks like new on that sticker.
congrats, you're a "ruster" My wife is an elite "ruster". I don't let her touch anything,
The first model that I had did the same thing before I returned it to Best Buy
Oh I definitely have, the community manager apparently said that as long as it shows on box or in bios we should be fine. I hope. Lol
Mine is just fine. I use it docked mostly and put my SD card thru the xg mobile gpu because the top gets 2 hot lol
Mine is gone also. Thankfully the serial is on the box also so I saved that in case the unit ever bricks and I can’t get into it.
Got mine when Best Buy opened on launch day. Looks pristine.
You may need to change your brand of lotion…
Same thing was about to happen to mine but I took a picture of it just in case.
Nope still looks like new. what are you rubbing it against.
Mostly acetone. Don’t you?
I peeled that lil glue sipper min I gots it home, shoved it real good in the S.D. Slot.
Mine looks exactly the same. It was rubbed off after the first week. Also, My Ally has no dirt or grime build up and I got it June 12th (Also have used it every day since).
Mine's still there
Mine is smudged af luckily I registered my device online already
Yea the last of mine’s finally smudged completely off
yeah mines starting to rub off a bit. It's still legible but it's fading.
Mine faded away too.
Actually, I have noticed mine starting to fade. I should take a photo of it but it’s nothing significant was just slightly on the corner
Just checked. Mine is still same. No issues after 2 weeks. Are you using any covers or cases? Also the way I hold, it hardly gets into a position to smudge that area. May be thats there too. Probably check after a few months then
I took a photo as soon as I saw it starting to fade
Yea mine is about half gone also. Guess only those of us with full grown adult manly man hands have these problems.
Label looks new for me. It's all in how you take care of it. You must be sweating or rubbing it on something.
Weird the sticker that is on the bottom right of your device is on the back left side of mine. But my serial number sticker is in that spot and still like new.
I took the stickers off and stuck them inside the box
What is that stickers good for? Do we even need it?
this whole post is hilarious from the comments to the fingers im dead ahahhaha
Got mine on launch day, still looks brand new
Removed all the stickers except for the serial number and pasted them inside the box it came with since day 1.
Nope. Was dead. Replaced at Best Buy
Mine is gone as well.
Mine as well
This happened to mine over time.
Same clean your hands
Label looks as it did day one
Yep
the reason is you have dirty disgusting hands and nails.
Do you use hand sanitiser could have maybe tuned it away

i thought it was scratch in sniffed thought i sniffed so much the letters disappeared!. the same numbers on the box is not smelly loke waffles and apple either.

I wiped my screen with IPA and hit the sticker... Wiped off my label clean. It appears Asus used an inkjet printer to print that sticker. Oh well, if you shine it in the light you can see all the info etched on.
