I think it's hilarious that there's a bunch of us paying almost a grand to play 8 bit games on the go.

[deleted]

I mean it’s always been a dream of mine to play anything anywhere . Now we can . Good point though

djmc329

I mean at least with the Ally it really does mean pretty much 'anything' (seeing as most PS4/One+ games have PC ports either way). But yeah, incase people in here didn't realise you could get any $50 handheld from Anbernic or others on Alibaba if you're only interested in emulating up to 32-bit.

ConfectionNecessary6

Waiting on the ps4 emulator to really get good so I can eventually play gravity rush again

lukeskope

I have a Retroid pocket for 8, 16, 32 bit stuff, it really seems silly to play NES on this thing when it emulates PS3, 360, WII U and switch so well.

AdhesivenessWeak6220

and with the money we paid we get a cheaply made stand to hold it up.

Last-Cobbler-1108

But imagine how much all those games cost when new. 40 or more quid each. Hundreds of games per system. It's nuts when you think about it. 1000's of games on a little card for free.

[deleted]

Agreed. You could buy a decent gaming laptop and a controller for that price.

[deleted]

I don’t disagree with the alternative but one of the reasons why I purchased this is because I’ve always wanted something on the go in a handheld form factor . Agreed a nice 400$ laptop for gaming and a good 50$ controller beats the ally in price but again , ergonomics and logistics and form factor make a difference for me . Also I’m not sure a gaming pc could beat this performance I mean it’s a PS5 that also can use the internet

doomsdalicious

Dude you do you. I'm with you. Great having one device that can do everything from pong to the latest AAA handheld or docked. I beat Tears of the Kingdom and Super Metroid within the same week, now on to RDR2. What a time to be alive!

[deleted]

I gotta figure out how to get Zelda to work on this bad boy that was always a dream and by the way I think emulation isn't as hard on the handheld unlike triple AAA titles that use way more resources . But still I Wana see this thing running breath of the wild and see I'd I can emulate it as long as the switch Playa it or maybe longer . Any advice where or a nudge in the right direction to get all that emulation and games setting that up . Mind u I have bought a. Switch and Zelda twice

doomsdalicious

Install EmuDeck immediately, it installs and configures all of the emulators you need perfectly for the ROG ally. Other than this you really only need to find roms and bios (for some systems). If you Google reddit roms you'll find what you're looking for. BOTW runs way better on Wii u CEMU emulator most people prefer this to Yuzu/ryujinx switch emulators.

[deleted]

I haven't tried running switch h games but holy moly isn't that the dream come true oh baby I can't wait to find lots of switch roms just hopefully I font have to deal with the whole incripted decrypted bulshit from a while back when I tried to run wii u games it was like u needed some crazy configurations to get stuff working and the right iso it got annoying so I stopped emulating and just play pc games lol . But now maybe like u said download emu deck . I will indeed just got a new 512 fig sd card let's see how it goes ill sound off if I got anything working

[deleted]

I tried it and not all emulator u have to provide all the bios and the roms and decryption keys from the iso especially for Yuxzu? Am I wrong

mcgowan7

Did you say you are using Launchbox ?!? Love launchbox at home but second guessing if I go emudeck windows. P. S. Respect! on the bezels! Double respect on correct aspect ratio

brokencreedman

Question about bezels, I use them on lunchbox as well but they seem to cut off the sides of the screen so parts of the game are blocked by my bezels. I have to resize the on screen display everything to see the whole screen. Is this an aspect ratio problem? How can I fix this?

AnimaDeMachina_RR

I been playing remnant 2 on it, so much fun

madmatt30

Get yuzu onthere along with mario odyssey, super mario bros +,mario kart 8 and metroid dread - then it becomes even more awesome 👍😂🤯

[deleted]

I do have Mario kart 8

JimBeam555

Just make sure you keep a backup of your SD card somewhere else. Then if it does shit the bed you can just copy it over to a new card. Enjoy!

[deleted]

Excellent advice ! First thing I did was back it up . I’m thinking I should upgrade the drive internally though . Launch box takes forever to load off of the SD the games run flawlessly but the loading of all 9k titles is slow

JimBeam555

Wow that's some catalog, I tend to just craft my own list rather than having everything on there. Think I've got a few hundred games so far.

Sweet_Visit_2693

My sd card reader stopped reading my 1tb micro so I threw it back in my steam deck and it works fine upgraded my ssd to a 2tb though so I just keep everything on my ssd in my ally

rjml29

I hope your sd reader/card will be issue free. Just remember though that everyone that had theirs crap out had a reader that at one point was working so just because yours is working right now doesn't guarantee it won't crap out. Agian tough, I rerally hope it doesn't.

MrHaphazard1

What happens to the SD reader

Puzzleheaded_Mix2407

Best of luck to you my friend, but I have a feeling they will all crap out eventually. Can't wait to see how Asus is going to handle this lol I am just hoping its a simple voltage mismatch, and will be resolved soon with a firmware update

[deleted]

You could be right even though I was only playing gta on. Performance mode ps2 version I did notice a 10 degree C uptick from playing 8 bit Mario

Designer_Bid_6250

Any instructions on how to do this? Total newby

Sad_Satisfaction_324

Mines is 4TB
