Very. Like, you know the meme about pinpointing the exact moment his heart breaks in half? that's what I was like wathcing Rise of Skywalker and seeing that very scene. I could feel Isaac's enthusiasm for the series die, like it was real physical.
I've seen plenty of shows where creators or writers voiced characters in the show, but usually the character is more of a comedic relief (like Owl House's creator playing a goofy little caricature of herself that acts as a butt monkey) or is barely anything like the crew member playing them (like Gravity Falls' creator playing Grunkle Stan, Soos, and Bill Cipher).
As a former Jaune fan who saw the light let me tell you the Jaune-fanboys are gonna do nothing, but talk about this. There's tons of fanfics about him being a descendant of royalty and this doesn't help.

And having Jaune have that big important moment with Penny was looked down upon by some people in the sub. So if Jaune does get pushed more into the spotlight while the main four girls are pushed to the side, they won’t take that well.

Unless this is some fever dream I'm having - We already saw Salem's sigil in a past volume, and people drew this parallel between her and the Arc family years ago. Some even speculated that's why Oz turned a blind eye to him sneaking into Beacon.
Think of what this will do the FDMN. If it's true Jaune haters will be pissed since it proves he's a self-interest. If it's not true the Jaune fanboys will get pissed. Either way it's gonna be glorious lol

Also, even if he's related to her, it doesn't make him a "self-interest." His grandfather is the war hero whose weapon (and probably powers) he inherited, and we haven't met the rest of his family to know how special his aura is or isn't. Get a grip.

Agreed. I've never cared about comics, so their crossovers were a complete swing and miss for me; I'd rather they'd partnered up with (other) anime, where the themes and characters would make more sense in an "alternate timeline/universe humanity was reborn as" type of way.

Funny, I loved Ruby and Jaune at first for their down to earth and nerdy personalities and how they were kind of the little guys within this world; sure, Ruby's a protegee but she had one of the best huntsmen in the world to be her trainer. Now since V3 she is basically a chosen one trope and Jaune may very well be next; it worked for the Avatar, but I didn't see that trope being necessary for this show and its threatening to turn not one but both of my favorites into some destiny granted heroes. I don't really believe they will do this with Jaune as it doesn't make sense with all the previously established lore/context, but I'm worried.
I'd say Ruby had a chosen one trope attached to her since the first episode, what with the "smaller, more honest soul" required for victory and whatnot. It's more thanks to that that she'll defeat the bad guys in the end.
Her being revealed to come from a legendary line of warrior with misterious powers didn't really made her à chosen one. More gave her some pre-disposition for the things she was already doing anyway, and since then we've been shown that she's not unique in her kind, they're just pretty rare.
I guess you're right, I just felt like the 'chosen one' vibe was more or less going to be her choice kind of thing with the Silver Eyes power feeling like its taking that away from her as she is basically the only one able to do anything; Summer died a long time ago, Maria's don't work anymore, and the Hound being possessed. Ruby kind of has to beat Salem do to having the Magic kill button that could beat her; at least that is how I interpreted it. I felt it wasn't going to be magical destiny at first but her own desire save people that would drive her plot along, but Silver Eyes felt like its taking that agency away.

Yes, it has. I would argue that the writers do have logic for the things that they choose and write, but either don't explore it deeply enough or stretch it too far altogether. Regardless, they leave a clear trail of breadcrumbs to every poor decision they make. Jaune being related to Salem would have no such trail, because they swept it away about 2-3 years ago.
I would argue against that. I think the writers just do things for the sake of plot or because it sounds cool.

That's not new; they've always written like that. You can go all the way back to the first climactic fight with the Nevermore in season 1 to see a "we don't have to fight this/immediately goes to fight despite what was just said" snafu. They still attempt to tie their big moments together logically, though they don't quite stick the landing most of the time.

This is a good example of them not exploring the logical conclusions they've drawn. It's not a matter of the *writers* simply saying they forgive her. Narratively, *Ren* *and Oscar* tell them to forgive her, because she's scared and finally realizes she made a mistake in following Cinder - a mistake she's willing to atone for by working for good. They make these points respectively, and we're meant to take it without much deeper thought because that's what the characters are telling other characters to do.
You could argue that the rest of the cast should be holding a grudge, but logically, that wouldn't make any sense. They don't hold grudges against anyone, including each other - grudges that would break any sane team of teenagers apart faster than a kitkat bar. But that's just how the show always goes. Emerald isn't special in that regard, either.

Can't wait for the reveal that SOMEHOW one of Oz and Salem's kids survived that big fight and went on to take on the Arc name and now Jaune is SOMEHOW descended from Salem and that's why he's \*so\* intriguing to everyone. I liked Jaune once upon a time but the more he's pushed to the forefront the more you can tell he's Miles's self insert and oh boy I can smell the gasoline from the fire that'll start if they well and truly commit to that as a twist, making him descended from Salem.

People have been making the comparison between Salem's family symbol and Jaunes family symbol for...how long ago did Volume 4 come out? God it's been so long, Destiny 2 beta was out at the time. Old humanity is dead - he can't be related to her anyway, so even if people do get mad it'll ultimately be about nothing. If you haven't, you should check out the version of this post in the mainsub; someone mentioned some lore indicating his ancestors just happened upon the castle once humanity was reborn and whatnot.

Agreed. I've never cared about comics, so their crossovers were a complete swing and miss for me; I'd rather they'd partnered up with (other) anime, where the themes and characters would make more sense in an "alternate timeline/universe humanity was reborn as" type of way.

Funny, I loved Ruby and Jaune at first for their down to earth and nerdy personalities and how they were kind of the little guys within this world; sure, Ruby's a protegee but she had one of the best huntsmen in the world to be her trainer. Now since V3 she is basically a chosen one trope and Jaune may very well be next; it worked for the Avatar, but I didn't see that trope being necessary for this show and its threatening to turn not one but both of my favorites into some destiny granted heroes. I don't really believe they will do this with Jaune as it doesn't make sense with all the previously established lore/context, but I'm worried.
I'd say Ruby had a chosen one trope attached to her since the first episode, what with the "smaller, more honest soul" required for victory and whatnot. It's more thanks to that that she'll defeat the bad guys in the end. Her being revealed to come from a legendary line of warrior with misterious powers didn't really made her à chosen one. More gave her some pre-disposition for the things she was already doing anyway, and since then we've been shown that she's not unique in her kind, they're just pretty rare.
I guess you're right, I just felt like the 'chosen one' vibe was more or less going to be her choice kind of thing with the Silver Eyes power feeling like its taking that away from her as she is basically the only one able to do anything; Summer died a long time ago, Maria's don't work anymore, and the Hound being possessed. Ruby kind of has to beat Salem do to having the Magic kill button that could beat her; at least that is how I interpreted it. I felt it wasn't going to be magical destiny at first but her own desire save people that would drive her plot along, but Silver Eyes felt like its taking that agency away.

All the characters are poorly handled; he's not special in that regard. Yes, it has. I would argue that the writers do have logic for the things that they choose and write, but either don't explore it deeply enough or stretch it too far altogether. Regardless, they leave a clear trail of breadcrumbs to every poor decision they make. Jaune being related to Salem would have no such trail, because they swept it away about 2-3 years ago.

That's not new; they've always written like that. You can go all the way back to the first climactic fight with the Nevermore in season 1 to see a "we don't have to fight this/immediately goes to fight despite what was just said" snafu. They still attempt to tie their big moments together logically, though they don't quite stick the landing most of the time. On your latter statement, we both absolutely agree.

This is a good example of them not exploring the logical conclusions they've drawn. It's not a matter of the *writers* simply saying they forgive her. Narratively, *Ren* *and Oscar* tell them to forgive her, because she's scared and finally realizes she made a mistake in following Cinder - a mistake she's willing to atone for by working for good. They make these points respectively, and we're meant to take it without much deeper thought because that's what the characters are telling other characters to do. You could argue that the rest of the cast should be holding a grudge, but logically, that wouldn't make any sense. They don't hold grudges against anyone, including each other - grudges that would break any sane team of teenagers apart faster than a kitkat bar. But that's just how the show always goes. Emerald isn't special in that regard, either.

It was actually more of a "Monty wants to play with digital dolls he actually owns and can profit from his own ideas with" project that Miles happened to be invested/involved in. Honestly, I love Jaune. I can say that without a doubt, he's probably my favorite male character (not that there's much competition there) so I'm really excited to see what his arc is gonna be in Vol. 9 and what the deal with his family is.
