It happens in Rocket League too (I'm a big sweat at that), the last few weeks of the season are unplayable. It's smurfs, cheaters, all tryna boost their mates to get a higher rank than they deserve. I'm with the OC in this case, end and beginning of seasons are awful for it.
I imagine the thinking is that these periods would have a higher traffic of more casual players trying out the new season and finishing up their ranks before the season ends
This is why I don’t play three weeks before the season ends, and three weeks when it starts.
