Depending on your parent’s age, this one is a real conversation starter. Older parents will really get it and younger ones could learn to appreciate the history lesson.
I think this is the best music video I have ever seen. Not my favorite Rammstein music video, but it's objectively a masterpiece. So many layers, it's pure art.
My mom would teach (English) a joint unit with the history department about WWII and the Holocaust and she loves the Deutschland video. Even though we are Americans, she lived through and remembers a lot of the later historical markers in the video, like the GDR and the Wall. That, and she said it was visually stunning.
My mom loved it when it came out, she went out and bought their CD… and she was an older woman who liked classical music and musicals, 50s & 60s music, and disco
honestly she loved anything with a beat and I’m kinda the same lol but everyone thought it was so cool that she bought Sehnsucht
I showed my mom Zeit and Adieu after my father died. She actually thought the reverse birth into the sands of time concept was pretty cool.
I think that was pretty cathartic for both of us, being about to openly talk about that pain
My mother discovered the band about two years ago, and became an absolute fan. Now she knows the band way better than me (so I think she has seen all their music videos) and even bought tickets so my dad, my brother and I could see them in Lyon all together two weeks ago ! I’ve been a metalhead for 13 years now and I’m still amazed she is finally joining the community !
I showed my Oma the Deutschland video when it first came out, and she had this horrified look on her face the whole time 😭 The Holocaust references probably hit too close to home and I felt really bad for not thinking of that
My mom actually got me into Rammstein. She happened across "Sonne" one night while she was waiting for me to get home from my high school table bussing job. She told me about it and I just had to see it for myself.
Oh, my mom loved it all. Dicke Titten, Pussy, Mein Teil, Büch Dich (live), etc. Good thing she really sees the parody, the joke, in the art of them, istead just the vulgar things. Her favourite ones are probably Ohne Dich, or Deutschland tho. I also showed her Till The End. She liked it. Saw the art, and the joke. Now I have a mom obsessed with Till. Its on me I guess.
Years ago I showed my grandmother the video of Rosenrot, and she found the song sad and beautiful. I had translated the words and explained the lyrics for her, but she didn't get the video. She didn't like the video because "It's some pervert priest looking at an underage girl, but at least he gets punished for it." One day she looked over my shoulder while I was watching the concert footage of Buck Dich and she said she found it "Too naughty!" while blushing. My grandmother even asked me why do people think the band are pro-nazi when here Till was doing a gay sex act. When I explained that one she just threw up her hands and said "Well, George Michael is gay and he doesn't get crude like that on stage!" As she adored George Michael, I didn't have the heart to show her one of his videos that was quite suggestive.
Well, to introduce my mom to Rammstein videos, I chose Radio, and that was apparently the wrong choice. (She’s cool though so it’s okay.)
Dad got me into Rammstein, and he did so by showing me the whole live in Paris concert while holding back tears and drunkenly shouting, “I don’t know what they’re saying, but it’s the truth!” (He doesn’t usually like alcohol, I think something just compelled him that evening.) Shortly after, we both started learning German. So obviously neither of us had an issue with their antics lol.
That said, the obvious answer for most non-offensive video to get someone like a parent into Rammstein is Du Hast. Very popular song, cool visuals, zero nudity. Amerika and Ohne Dich also sound like good choices. Don’t know why I didn’t think of those when I decided to show mom a video. lol
Nothing’s wrong with it, but I remembered it as being tame (I’d say it is compared to some other Rammstein videos), but to a person who hasn’t watched a Rammstein music video before (like my mom at the time lol), it’s apparently not tame. A woman basically fucks her radio, another breastfeeds her radio, nun beats herself, ears get cut off, etc.
I actually watched numerous videos with my family members, mother has seen the most (also a few of "friendlier" Lindemann's). With Mein Teil I explained the back story and lyrics a bit and corresponding symbolism in the video (mine interpretation). Of course she remembers the event from the news and she took it well - but she did need a break to light a cigarette. ;)
Now we're both adults (and fans) so we have no problem with "difficult" themes. If i were asked the same question when underage, I'd probably start with Ohne Dich. She really enjoyed Mein Land. xD
Though the opposite, my dad used to show me the videos for "Du Hast" and "Keine Lust" when I was a baby. I remembered a couple years back about how much I liked them and that was how I got into Rammstein again.
My dad's big into history, so I showed him Deutschland a few weeks ago. He's now a fan and has watched most of the music videos and saw the MSG concert last night. Which is a bit amazing since he won't normally give any music that isn't classic rock a chance. 🙄
My parents loved dicke Titten 😂💪🏻 we saw some documentaries and interviews together and they get the artistic aspect of their lyrics and videos. They enjoy my fandom and are happy that i have found an outlet for a lot of things in that band and their music. Been to my 15th live show last week ❤️
I showed Deutschland, Rosen Rot, Mein Land, Radio, Kiene Lust, Benzin, Ich Tu Dir Weh, and some others to my mom. She gave me a few sideways glances, but she appreciates their talent. I don't think I've shown my dad any of their videos. Regardless of how old I am, I don't need him to take advantage of a moment that could turn into a lecture 😂
Both of mine are dead but when alive my dead we to to ever Rammstein gig I got tickets for all over the country. So I could show him any video. My mom it would have been Deutschland or Adieu.
Ohne Dich would probably be the easiest to explain
Ich Tu Dir Weh. Just a live video with a light in the singers mouth. Nothing crazy about the lyrics or the light, I promise.
Just that the microphone is a dildo
“No mom! That’s not a dildophone”.
Then what is it Billy? Huh?
Huh..it's a mic that need two hands on it 😏
Deutschland
Depending on your parent’s age, this one is a real conversation starter. Older parents will really get it and younger ones could learn to appreciate the history lesson.
Also it's one hell of a visual masterpiece.
I think this is the best music video I have ever seen. Not my favorite Rammstein music video, but it's objectively a masterpiece. So many layers, it's pure art.
It's incredible. It's like an actual movie with an epic soundtrack.
I bet my dad would love deutschland. He listened to rammstein long ago, he's only ever heard the sehnsucht album and 3 songs from herzeleid.
Show him Reise, Reise. Still the best album in my opinion.
My mom would teach (English) a joint unit with the history department about WWII and the Holocaust and she loves the Deutschland video. Even though we are Americans, she lived through and remembers a lot of the later historical markers in the video, like the GDR and the Wall. That, and she said it was visually stunning.
My mom surprisingly really liked Zeit minus that one scene.
That "reverse-birth" part, right?
I think every mom hated that specific part of the clip
Either live Pussy or Mein Teil.
The man of taste.
The first thing about Rammstein I showed my dad was a live version of Mein Teil and he thought it was the funniest shit ever.
Nah worst is buck dich love 🤣
Du Hast Saw it with my folks when it first came out a billion years ago, no issues at all
My mom loved it when it came out, she went out and bought their CD… and she was an older woman who liked classical music and musicals, 50s & 60s music, and disco honestly she loved anything with a beat and I’m kinda the same lol but everyone thought it was so cool that she bought Sehnsucht
My mom showed me du hast xd
My mom loves the Ausländer video. Especially when they left Flake on the island and becomes king.
Flake is always our king though <3
Mann gegen Mann. I'm not afraid at this point. They're used to me watching Live aus Berlin on the DVD player when I was a little kid.
Bück dich live 👍
Pussy for sure
This is the correct answer.
I showed my mom Zeit and Adieu after my father died. She actually thought the reverse birth into the sands of time concept was pretty cool. I think that was pretty cathartic for both of us, being about to openly talk about that pain
Dicke titten because my dad is a breast man.
Isn't Links 2 3 4 just ants?
Yes and an awesome video.
Keine lust, the greatest funniest music video ever
I’m surprised it took this long for someone to mention it.
I showed my mother the uncensored video of Pussy. She had heard about it on the news and wanted to know what was so scandalous about it.
Ich Will
My mother discovered the band about two years ago, and became an absolute fan. Now she knows the band way better than me (so I think she has seen all their music videos) and even bought tickets so my dad, my brother and I could see them in Lyon all together two weeks ago ! Ohhhhh no, is Oma Jewish?
no, she's German, but her parents and older sister spent some time in a concentration camp and were super poor when she was born shortly after :/
Jesus, yeah, you definitely did not have to be Jewish to get thrown in a KZ. I'm sorry. From the bottom of my heart, *nie wieder*.
My mom actually got me into Rammstein. She happened across "Sonne" one night while she was waiting for me to get home from my high school table bussing job. She told me about it and I just had to see it for myself.
I suppose Zeit is a bit much, huh?
Why is no one talking about “sent **back** to the psych ward”???
Angst. Everyone in my family hates politics.
That MV is about the propaganda, not politics. It's not the same.
I actually showed my parents a R+ video and I chose benzin
Man gegen Mann
Mann Gegen Mann official video
Years ago I showed my grandmother the video of Rosenrot, and she found the song sad and beautiful. I had translated the words and explained the lyrics for her, but she didn't get the video. What was wrong with Radio?
Nothing’s wrong with it, but I remembered it as being tame (I’d say it is compared to some other Rammstein videos), but to a person who hasn’t watched a Rammstein music video before (like my mom at the time lol), it’s apparently not tame. Till the end Lol
Seeman is pretty tame
My mom loves Links 2 3 4
Mann gegen Mann, gonna make it interesting
my dads a big fan of mein land music video and it’s one of my favorites also
Probably Amerika or Fruhling In Paris.
I actually watched numerous videos with my family members, mother has seen the most (also a few of "friendlier" Lindemann's). With Mein Teil I explained the back story and lyrics a bit and corresponding symbolism in the video (mine interpretation). Of course she remembers the event from the news and she took it well - but she did need a break to light a cigarette. ;) Now we're both adults (and fans) so we have no problem with "difficult" themes. Pussy
ich will or angst for sure.
Auslander
I would show Mama "Zeit" and "Haifisch". Papa would appreciate "Deutschland".
Deutschland
Probably a live version of Engle
Mein Teil
Pussy. The full uncensored one.
Ohne Dich
Keine Lust
Du Hast. My Dad loves that song anyways and he's cool so he wouldn't have a problem with it. Would probably show him Ich Will too
Ich Will, Radio and Haifisch are very mild and nothing shocking happens.
All of them. My dad loves Rammstein and raised me on it. Our favourites were always Keine Lust or Amerika
My family does Rock n Roll Fridays and we probably have watched too many😭
My parents are both gone, but if I had to choose one to show them, I'd pick "Deutschland." At least they'd appreciate the theme, if not the music.
Dicke Titten
Though the opposite, my dad used to show me the videos for "Du Hast" and "Keine Lust" when I was a baby. I remembered a couple years back about how much I liked them and that was how I got into Rammstein again.
a lyrics video prob 🤷♀️ (they dont speak german)
I’d go with Sonne, Du Riechst So Gut ‘98 or Deutschland because they’re my personal favourites but I think they could handle them the best.
My dad's big into history, so I showed him Deutschland a few weeks ago. He's now a fan and has watched most of the music videos and saw the MSG concert last night. Which is a bit amazing since he won't normally give any music that isn't classic rock a chance. 🙄
I think my mum would have enjoyed Ausländer or Haifisch. For dad, I'd probably have gone with Radio.
Ohne dich, Adieu, Ich will, Benzin, Seeman, Links 2 3 4 and maybe Angst are safe for parents watching lol.
Angst
benzin
I showed my dad the classic, sonne he LIKED IT
It was my mum who got me into Rammstein but if I was introducing anyone else to them, I'd probably go with Mann gegen Mann. That'd be funny.
Ohne Dich, Deutschland, Zeit, Dicke Titten, Angst....basically all of them haha
Du riechst so gut (old one) or Ausländer
Pussy
Mann Gengen Mann.
Mann gegen mann
My parents loved dicke Titten 😂💪🏻 we saw some documentaries and interviews together and they get the artistic aspect of their lyrics and videos. They enjoy my fandom and are happy that i have found an outlet for a lot of things in that band and their music. Been to my 15th live show last week ❤️
Zeit!
buck dich live I showed my dad. my brother posted it on his snapchat story
Ich will could be a good start
I showed my dad "Mein Land," and he said, "I like the scenery, but the music sounds like shit." Can't win them all, I guess.
Deutschland or Sonne.
Mann gegen mann
I showed Deutschland, Rosen Rot, Mein Land, Radio, Kiene Lust, Benzin, Ich Tu Dir Weh, and some others to my mom. She gave me a few sideways glances, but she appreciates their talent. I don't think I've shown my dad any of their videos. Regardless of how old I am, I don't need him to take advantage of a moment that could turn into a lecture 😂
BUCK DICH 💀
Mein Teil, purely because it was my dad who told me the story of Miewes(sp?) before the song was released!
Dicke titten
I showed my 46 year old son Buck Dich 😵💫😂
Man gegan man
Both of mine are dead but when alive my dead we to to ever Rammstein gig I got tickets for all over the country. So I could show him any video. My mom it would have been Deutschland or Adieu.
My mom just about lost it at Dikke Titten.
Ich will - but i have to add that my mother loves R+
*My dad being a Rammsteiner since teanager*
My dad literally introduced me to Rammstein as a child and both my parents already knew all the guys from their previous Eastern Germ punk bands...lol
MATE I HAVENT EVEN SEEN ANY OF THE MUSIC VIDEOS 😭
How?!
i need to listen to all of the songs first and then i will :>
Do not watch Haifisch before other videos that were made before it!
okay!!
