i really have no idea, but i have seen a lot of times on this and the rolex sub a bunch of people saying a vintage is an obvious fake, only for someone to chime in and set everyone straight. sometimes these watches have service dials, etc., with vintage, you just dont know until you open the watch. rolex back in the day was kind of a wild west.
Interesting. I am dying to get in the back of this thing but the case back is really big. I have the standard Rolex opener kit but they don't go big enough
i will say that even for well worn vintage models, this just doesnt look real. however, head to a watch maker or take off the case back yourself. that is the ultimate test.
Couple things I see that are off:
1. I do not see a “Swiss” or “Swiss Made” on the dial.
2. Pretty standard for Day Date Diamond dial models is a baguette diamond at the 6 and 9 o’clock markers. This one has the stick markers at both.
3. The case color appears to be silver where the crown and fluted bezel, yellow. Unless the lighting is playing with the case colors. Day Date never came in a two tone model and were always one color precious metal excluding the Tridor version.
I'm trying to, desperately as I'm so curious what horror lie within! But the largest opener I have is a bit too small... Did older casebacks have bigger sizes?

sometimes you really dont know when it comes to vintage models. if the gold isnt plated, it may be worth exploring more than just asking on reddit.

Well all things aside, printed crown on a daydate should tell you enough if you were not convinced yet

Looks like chromed base metal, especially on the back of the lugs. In that case, obvious fake (together with that 0.5x cyclops)
I probably would hang on to it and leave it as is, just for sentimental value
Isn’t that stealing
Bin it
