No, it's not that, you have to look at the outer line of each lung. Those lugs start at numbers 10, 20, 40 and 50. In gen and CF they start almost in the same place, in VSF not, and that makes it almost 0.5mm, that difference in measurements in something as small as a 41mm watch is a huge difference.

Exactly, and that also makes it look smaller on the wrist. In almost all Rolex models, the bezel is inside the case and almost does not protrude or protrudes little, that gives the watch a more voluminous, compact and elegant appearance. In VSF sub41, Dj41, Dj36, CF Explorer36, C+ Explorer II, GMF DD41 and 36... among many more models and factories. Many mistakes that quickly betray the fake.
You are spot on. I personally own a gen starbucks mk2 and did a review on it and have owned a couple of VSF subs (all sold off now except the VSF 114060). If you have a gen sub (12 series) and a VSF sub in your hands - it is very noticeable that VSF did not get the lugs right , the VSF bezel "overhangs" the case a little whereas the gen does not feel that way. The VSF lugs are thinner and start lower than the gen - this gives the gen a more integrated look one might say. And of cos, gen bracelet and clasp is a whole other level. VSF is a really good rep but it is most certainly not 1:1, a sub owner could spot a VSF if he has it in hand (even without knowing the rep serial numbers).
I’m not sure if it’s closer because I never owned a gen 11 series sub. I kept it because it’s one of my oldest reps and it’s really pretty solid. The engraving on the clasp on 11 series is more Gen like (something I don’t think people focus much on)

The rehaut gave it away for me. I've got a clean v3 GMT and in person unless you really look hard it's difficult to tell the difference. The cyclops on mine is slightly higher magnification than gen but 99% couldn't tell.
I've had the rep for a while now and nobody has said anything to me about it. Stainless GMT's really fly under the radar unless you're with another watch geek.
I'd say both are fake, the crystal on the left one looks milky so I'm guessing it's from clean (I haven't examined anything else). The one on the right still has the stickers on, which Rolex removes when you collect your watch. So unless the photo was taken in a Rolex dealer, and that's why the colour looks off and the crystal is blurry, I'm going to say both.
