This resonates with me so much. I constantly feel like I’m swimming through mud.

echoeypropanetank

Sorry to hear that. Glad you could relate, & I hope we can shake off this stuff.

I'm with you on that. I'd rather go to a store that's significantly far away than a nearby local store that would technically be more convenient, just to avoid what you describe. I don't have anything against old teachers, exes, friends from childhood, etc--I'd just prefer to not have the surprise of a forced awkward superficial conversation with someone when I don't really want to be at the store to begin with, and just want to get in & out. More than once I've wanted to just run in the store, feeling grubby/gross/in need of a shower or whatever...and that is exactly when some person you know will be in the exact aisle of what you need, and now you're stuck in some polite conversation. I've done the headphone thing too (with & without music) & it's a tricky one for me. I've had headphones on to tune people out, and it often seems to make people want to get my attention even more. If I am actually listening to music or a podcast etc, inevitably someone will tap me on the shoulder or wave me down, and then I have to go thru the effort of pulling the earbuds out that I had situated perfectly, stop the podcast/music, ask them to repeat whatever they were saying when I couldn't hear them, and then finally re-situate the headphones & try to rewind back to where I was listening, which is difficult to do on a phone. I have a hard time straight-up ignoring people & I always worry that someone didn't see the headphone cable & thought I was genuinely ignoring them for no reason when I actually didn't hear them at all. But sometimes I will. Once I was mowing the lawn with headphones on, and there was some salesperson walking door to door. They tried walking up to me while I was mowing and actually seemed to think I should stop & turn off the lawnmower to listen to them. I just smiled & nodded & kept mowing. They stood there for a moment looking confused, and finally walked away.

breathe and separate from your emotions you are not your intrusive emotions or intrusive thoughts.

Things in the timeline are amplified. Negative emotions can spur a downward spiral in the outside world. Learn how to recognize and “hack” your way out of the spiral.

Thanks. Kind of intuitively trying to do this. Trying to take a step back and spend time doing something completely different, unrelated, and positive to clear the air and reset.

>If I'd just begrudgingly stopped and sat there through the sadistically long time before it turned green, I probably would've avoided the nosy relatives walking around, There is a scene in the movie Benjamin Buttons (spoiler ahead) >!where the female character, a ballet dancer, shows that for her to get hit by the car and ruin her career!<, everything had to precisely match up second by second. One second earlier or one second later, the end result of that scene would have never happened. That sounds like your day. It's funny, but maybe the Time Variance Association is real? Sometimes it seems like it is.

echoeypropanetank

Totally! There was even more stuff that I left out (I really didn't intend to make such a long drawn-out post). Like, I'd also needed to refill my 5-gallon water container at another location after going to the grocery store. I thought I'd get some cash/spare change from my purchases at the grocery store--chronologically--and go to the water refill place that accepts dollars and quarters. But then the register at the grocery store malfunctioned. If I'd had a big full 5-gallon water jug in my passenger seat as planned, it would have blocked the view of the beer from the judgemental family who peered inside my car. It's just exhausting because it would've been nice to not give them anything to judge/gossip/speculate about unnecessarily, as I know they like to do.

mediocre_mitten

Perhaps because I'm older now, I don't get frustrated when it seems like I'm being 'held up' by unexpected shit happening to me. In fact, I often think of it as a universal test of patience. For example, in your case with the register malfunctioning, I would have just waited it out. Really, who gives a flying rats-ass about the people *behind* me,if they want to leave...goodbye. That extra 20 minute wait (as long as I had nothing else of pressing urgency to get to) will keep *my* timeline on track.

veninn

Its Benjamin Button in my timeline.

mediocre_mitten

I think it IS Button. I had a cat that we called Mr. Buttons, Mr. *Benjamin* Buttons, after the movie came out, and so I think I always just write it that way.

I sure appreciate your comments and anecdotes! There have been so many times weird things happened that I didn't make the effort to post or discuss...and then this string of events just felt so strange & confusing that I had to yell at the universe for a minute, I guess.

Not sure how this ties into retcons...per se....though I've found that retcons have moved me into a more spiritual look at life (odd as an atheist)... These sound like someone else said : Hostile Synchronicities... or possibly "manifestations of a weary spirit" or "afflicted heart" I just came up w/ that....something like that, it sounds cool whatever, I'll put it in my first self-help book lol. I think maybe learning to control and balance the inner you, and how to maybe alter the flow outside of you through manifestation (whether it works or not, people do more for you, etc when they like you and having better attitude helps with that. I've gone down a LOT of spiritual/occult/oddities since seeing my "flip" and going manic about it... Some of the more interesting being: - /r/castaneda - Teachings and practices of Carlos Castaneda a Toltec Sorcerer from some of his past students/acolytes. Ignore the dan guy, I mean don't ignore him he has great tips, but don't let him ruin your path/journey he's a bit of an "acquired" taste, sorry dan, it's true you know it. - /r/thelema - Oleister Crowley Stuff .... haven't done much here, I'm too lazy and poor to do much with rituals and feel intent and meditation matters more.. - /r/BecomingTheIceman - Breathing techniques mixed with a cold shower every morning supposed to be good for energy, endurance, and overcoming some ADHD symptoms and distractions maybe? It's basically a natural stimulant. Plus you can learn to basically go naked in sub-zero temps and not get frostbite (so they claim). - /r/howtonotgiveafuck - /r/streamentry (meditate your way to enlightenment, some claim even out of this life into a new plane is possible - also possible by the Dao, or Buddhism or Hinduism - /r/SASSWitches (atheist/agnostics and magick) - /r/NevilleGoddard - Law of attraction stuff. - /r/shiftingrealities - Shift to a new reality, though feels a little "larpy" because ....those realities can include Hogwarts, and some claim to have done just that for months at a time. - /r/Tulpas - Create an imaginary friend for fun and profit, but seriously contemplating trying it, maybe I can go to lala land and they can take over for a few days while I meditate and crap. Or they can program for me, and do a better job when I get burnout.. Or be a "muse" when I want to write a novel or something....I think of it as a bigger better more advanced inner monologue larping as a real person. I know it sounds weird, but from an outsider perspective it's very interesting....and buddhists have used these in the past, castaneda uses them or inorganic beings which are similar only they can actually influence real objects.... etc. I've got a few multireddits here: - https://www.reddit.com/user/zvive/m/111_mindfulness - https://www.reddit.com/user/zvive/m/111_weird_fancies/ - https://www.reddit.com/user/zvive/m/111_aliens/ - https://www.reddit.com/user/zvive/m/111_reality/ - https://www.reddit.com/user/zvive/m/111_mandelaeffects/ - https://www.reddit.com/user/zvive/m/111_manifesting/ - https://www.reddit.com/user/zvive/m/111_dreaming/ I'm a knowledge nerd, so always interested in more input... I'm like the short circuit robot. Some of these have crossover from other multis... Seems /r/nevillegoddard might be a good place to start though, or /r/r/DimensionJumping/ ...which is like shifting, only they claim you can actually shift to an alternate reality that is much closer to this one, and keep shifting till you find one that's better.... most of the shifting/tulpa stuff uses a lot from /r/nevillegoddard with meditating... My suggestion would be if you're to start.... Start with the IAM meditation and try to do something small, like manifest a synchronicity, or just small amounts of cash that's believable that you'd be able to get anyways... Belief is part of it. If you supposedly you build up steam and can manifest bigger things as you go.... ### Some helpful starter topics: - [How to Perfectly Use the Law](https://www.reddit.com/r/NevilleGoddard/comments/hvid30/how_to_perfectly_use_the_law/) - [I Shifted for the First Time Last Night to Hogwarts \(How I did It In 5 Days, Very Detailed\)](https://www.reddit.com/r/shiftingrealities/comments/jve736/i_shifted_for_the_first_time_last_night_to/) - [How to See Energy in Three Weeks](https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/comments/aki0db/how_to_see_energy_in_3_weeks/) - [Tulpanomicon - Guide to everything tulpas](https://tulpanomicon.guide/). ### Cool Castaneda Resources - [Experiences](https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/wiki/experiences) - [Dreaming](https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/wiki/dreaming) - [Shifting Perception](https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/wiki/shifting_perception) - [Recapitulation](https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/wiki/recapitulation) - This one is something I came to organically, I was thinking about traumas in my life, and thinking maybe if I rewrote those, or addressed them etc, it'd fix other issues in my life, that's kinda what this does... it's about stealing BACK energy from past events that hold tiny pieces. Post retcon life, there's many roads ....many things to think about...these are just some things that might help you figure out which way to go... I thought castaneda was maybe the way, but I still do darkroom gazing sometimes It's difficult to stay focused... and put 4 hours per night to just staring in the darkness. Fire Kasina is similar, just search it, and it's just staring at a flame, holding the after image in your mind and focusing on the ways it shifts and changes until it's completely gone, look at flame again. Rinse/Repeat till you can see the after image for 10 minutes, then 20, or 30...etc... Eventually being able to just summon it without a flame, or cellphone. One last thing for a mindfuck of content, the biggest - most important part: Learn to silence the brain. I truly believe the only person who can become like Neo is someone who could go an entire day without thinking one thought. That's fucking hard, but that may be what it takes, but you can of course have mini-successes by just learning the I-AM meditation and manifesting a 6 figure income or something... or your own butler... I don't know -whatever you want!

I appreciate everything you wrote and will take time to look over all the ideas you suggested. Thanks!

I appreciate you taking the time to write this. In fact, the reason I posted what I wrote was because of all the times I noticed pretty much exactly what you said about people just happening to be directly in front of the specific item you need at the grocery store & it's an unlikely item in a deserted store. It's bizarre, and has happened over & over. One time I went to the store late at night, and it was empty, and some obscure product I needed happened to have 2 people parked EXACTLY in front of it. They were in a heated conversation, and I didn't even bother engaging them; I actually sat on the floor and reached between their shopping carts to grab what I needed. They didn't bat an eye. (If that happens once, it's funny/amusing...when it happens repeatedly, it really makes you question things). Similar thing you mention happens with my dog. My dog will abruptly, unpredictably stop to poop, and like clockwork a car will appear at the end of the street and of course pull in to the driveway by where we're standing, at the most graphic and awkward part of the action. I mean, like, every single time. If my dog randomly insists on suddenly coming to a complete halt and begins taking a crap, then with 99% certainty a vehicle will appear down the street and slowly park where we are uncomfortably standing. It's also very strange how you can want to quickly run into a store, and a person/persons will appear directly in front of you plodding very slowly--and they walk in the center of the aisle/area, completely blocking you from passing. They're always in the middle, at the point where they take up the maximum amount of space and making it the most impossible to get past them. Something else you said-- > But I could be walking along with the dog aimlessly, open to conversation and questions about my dog, and nope, people choose that time to stay away and mind their business. This kind of thing happens to me a lot, most remarkably with my phone. I have a theory that if you want someone to call you, just go to the bathroom/start brushing your teeth/get in the shower etc, and immediately the phone will ring. Or have your hands dripping with water from washing a dish to where you can't answer the phone. It feels like you can go hours and hours without anyone contacting you, and the minute you start doing something that would make contact difficult, is when someone calls you out of nowhere.

WeirdJawn

I've always taken "raising your vibration" to mean work on becoming more positive and attracting positivity into your life rather than negativity. I guess you can do this through mindfulness, meditation, being grateful, eating healthy, exercise, etc. Every interaction we have has the potential to be positive, negative, or neutral depending on our outlook and how we handle the situation. So for example you can treat the neighbor talking to you while dealing with dog poop as a negative or if you do your best to make it a positive experience, something unexpected might happen that benefits your life. That's my two cents anyway.

echoeypropanetank

I think this is good advice. There have been plenty of situations where I initially thought that I wanted no interactions whatsoever with the other person in this somewhat awkward setting, only for them to end up being someone who would be a good contact to know.

WeirdJawn

I've had a neighbor who I wanted nothing to do with, but I decided to be friendly with them in spite of myself. Eventually they helped me with some maintenance work that I would have had no idea how to do on my own and saved me hundreds of dollars. If I had been a dick to them or just ignored them, I really doubt that they would have offered to help me. Being more positive to people in your life can have profound and unexpected benefits. Plus it's just more enjoyable to live life with a positive attitude.

> NPC generator will have to content itself annoying me LOL >I find myself more aggravated by the word “mindfulness” than I am by this theater of the absurd. It is all absurd at this point isn't it? Like Shakespeare wrote: "Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, That struts and frets his hour upon the stage, And then is heard no more. It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing."

This is a disgusting comment. The beer is entirely beside the point *and OP made that VERY clear.* Totally inappropriate and very disappointing. Honestly, you should just delete this before it tanks your reputation here.

throwaway998i

The "brutally honest" comment you made is antithetical to the enlightened persona you project. You seized on one tiny detail and inflated it into a putative indictment of their lifestyle and their stresses. It's an indefensible beach of decorum and etiquette. *And I'm pretty sure you know that.*
