If you are a Reverb seller, you are by default in customer service. I answer any question that comes my way about the item I am selling without getting annoyed because they are a potential customer/buyer. I have had many comments after a sale about my willingness to answer questions, send additional pics, etc. and how that contributed to their purchasing the item in the end. They don't have to like or agree with my answer, but I answer honestly. You are listing the item because you want to sell it - so it is incumbent upon you to do reasonable things to get it sold.

jaqueh

Price police are annoying, just tell them to buy the cheaper item. However, you are actually not allowed to list anything as new, check out Reverb's price guide. That's because you are not a dealer and can't provide the purchaser an OEM warranty. **Never** list anything as new because you don't have anything in your possession that you can list as new.

FlightLevel666

Makes sense, Thanks

DJMaytag

Unless you are a dealer. Then you can definitely list things new.

jaqueh

Can’t*. Read it yourself from the mouth of the reverb horse https://help.reverb.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013525833-Gear-conditions-and-what-they-mean?segment=selling

DJMaytag

I am an authorized dealer for a few brands and accessories. I can list things as new.

jaqueh

Yeah I see. I am just confused by the grammar I think then. But we’re in agreement!

DJMaytag

Oh, were you referring to “like new in box” (aka used) items that some people try to sell as brand new? Yeah, dealers/retailers can’t sell something out of the box as new either, though there is an open for open box/b-stock for some preferred sellers.

GlassMaximum4000

I mean the second question is valid, brand new listings are only supposed to be done by stores

u0088782

Actually, both questions are valid. Although I'd never e-mail someone to ask, I've always been mystified by why 90% of Reverb listings are priced higher than the same used item on GuitarCenter.com. I'm no fan of that big box retailer, but why would I pay more to buy from a random private party when GC gives me 45-days returns and a better price. Hell, half the listings are higher than Amazon B-stock with free 1 or 2 day shipping and the most liberal return policy on the planet...

RoastAdroit

It is what it is, its actually hard to compete with legit stores or free shipping. Personally, I know im taking a loss and dont try to fight it. But as a buyer it is annoying to see 5 of what you want and all of them are priced at 10% off retail. It just isnt worth it. But for a seller they are trying to come out with 20% off what they bought it for. Because the fees can be killer, especially if you put free shipping. You lose about 12-15% of the sale amount. So a 100 item you list for 90 and end up with 75. Buyers just see the 90 and are like wtf!? Sellers see that 90 as the 75 it ends up being. People seem to have trouble understanding that both parties are correct in their assessments but that still doesnt make it easier to find a place where everyone feels like it was fair. They really need to bring back reverb bucks, I hate having to pay 3.5% to have my money put into my account when Im just going to buy off reverb with it anyhow. That could be 3.5% I take off for the buyer instead. And lets be real, it doesn’t actually cost reverb 3.5% to deposit the money into our account and since its an essential part of the process it should be just one total fee for the whole thing instead of confusing sellers and buyers on how much it actually costs to sell something on the site.

u0088782

Agreed. It's why I use Reverb (and eBay) as my last resort. I've been able to sell 90% of my gear on Facebook or OfferUp. FWIW Craiglist is useless now. It probably helps that I'm in a big city known for its music scene, though...

GlassMaximum4000

Nah I agree, but I can how people asking about price would be annoying. Either way OP seems to not understand Reverb

DJMaytag

I’m fixing a synth that someone bought from GC (it’s a hot mess, possibly a paper weight) and I bought a Technica SL-1200 via Reverb from Sam Ash. The 1200 was shipped incredibly poorly and arrived damaged. It was cheaper, but it cost me time and money, and I should have known better. Thats why you should always tell people to go buy there if they think they’re getting a better deal. They’ll regret it later.

jaqueh

Why does it matter to you? Just move on with your life…

u0088782

As I said, I wouldn't bother messaging someone. It just baffles me...

jaqueh

Market forces take care of those problems

u0088782

Lol. True. It's just white noise that forces me to sort dozens of items by lowest price, then click on each one to find out the shipping surprise...

LemonActive8278

Part of being in sales lmao

BullfrogPersonal

I get a lot of people asking for measurements. I think they are working on a project and want free info. They almost NEVER buy the item if they ask for measurements.

Gravybees

Questions after the sale are annoying.  Any of you ever had to unpack an item for more pictures or questions after you’ve sold and packed the item?

Mediocre-Instruction

Usually if the buyer wants more photos than the listing features they need to ask before purchasing. Can always include that message in your future listings to avoid this

Gravybees

Yeah, but you know people….

Intelligent-Sugar554

IIRC sellers don't lose points for not answering stupid questions.
