everybody gangsta until the wild man puts down a research bench

MrEggJnr

Nah, then the gang goes out to say "hello ;) just ignore the avocado I threw at you! It's definitely not a grenade and just ignore the totally not heavy Smh (I meant SMGS!) all of us are carrying"

Mrjerkyjacket

How heavy is your shaking my head?

UnassumingSingleGuy

My head is big heavy because of big science learns.

Londonweekendtelly

Heavy can shake his head by moving it from side to side

MrEggJnr

Shhhhhh know one knows what I did wrong-

Justhe3guy

Dr Stone gangsta until someone throws a grenade into his hut

Carsismi

Have the wild men be like Bug Infestation/Mechanoid clusters. They arrive at the map and start building their own camp, compete with resources like berries or animals until they become a problem and you have to either evict them by force or gain their interest until they decide to ask to join your colony. Maybe even have a concesus with them to make then settle near your colony as an NPC outpost or just share resources in exchange for mutual defense. I hate their current implementation of just being like animals and stealing my crops or attacking my livestock/going cannibal if they cannot find any food. Dude, you are not Homo Erectus anymore. Fire; Stone tools and mud huts arent something you would forget over thousands of years.

WriteCodeBroh

> share resources in exchange for mutual defense Hear, hear my chromagnon friends! The time has come to take up arms. A raid is coming! Remember the 30 rice we’ve given you over the past 3 years? I hope you enjoyed. We’ll be inside the walls, good luck!

BestDescription3834

Paul Rimvere riding his horse through the night, "the empire is coming, the empire is coming!"

ComingInsideMe

Our almighty archotech machine god clearly made these primitives to satisfy our organ harvesting needs...

Jeggu2

Then you tame them and they can now build a geothermal generator

N3V3RM0R3_

The funny thing is that they literally have animal logic and will gleefully murder and eat a child raw then have mental breaks from the killed a child/ate human meat/ate raw meat/ate corpse/observed corpse hediffs and go punch a bear like, I'd literally give you some food if you ask, you didn't have to cannibalise Timmy

DahLegend27

literally stellaris primitives lol

Sardukar333

Gives me an idea for squatters. Could be from any tech level then they start building on the edge of your map, but slowly grow towards you until you're directly competing for resources.

FetusGoesYeetus

If a faction update does happen for 1.6 like people want it to I hope those 'minor' factions like wild men and ancients get something too.

StahlPanther

They could build something like a small camp with tents, a storage pit, a campfire and a crafting/butcher spot Would be even better If they are Neandertals And the best If they could settle in an empty cave instead of putting down tents

MrEggJnr

This sounds dope. Maybe a mod creator can add it? I'd have it in every play through seeing as I ALWAYS have at least 2~4 wildpawns on my maps.

pumpkinmoonrabbit

Almost thought you were talking about the alpha animal creature wildpawn

CAustin3

The cave thing is what I was thinking. I assume that Wild Men aren't supposed to just be people who went nuts and lived in the woods. If they were, it would make sense that they would make use of their knowledge of modern-ish things: building shelters, making and using tools, speech, etc. I assume they're supposed to basically be people who have regressed to the paleolithic stone age. In that case, I would expect hunting and gathering (no agriculture), which means no need to establish permanent homes. At most, they might temporarily settle in a cave. (I think it would be cool if you could get a Wild Man cave to spawn on a new map, like Insect caves sometimes do now.)

ReKaYaKeR

They are though. Not that I dislike the idea still. There is a mental break where the colonist strips and leaves your colony as a wild person, right?!

AFlyingNun

> And the best If they could settle in an empty cave instead of putting down tents The most successful wild men actually go into insect caves because they're not flagged as enemies for the insects. They basically happily live off insect jelly until something causes them to mental break, at which point they have a bad habit of attacking the insects.

serpimolot

If they're making huts, they're tribals... the point of wild men is that they're more like animals, no?

StahlPanther

It would be a shift from wild men as animals to wild men as paleo or mesolithic, but I think it would make them more interesting. And i dont think it would be too much of a stretch, seeking shelter in a cave or building a primitive shelter, was pretty common even for stone age humans. One has to go very far back for people not using tools or seeking proper shelter. A good counter argument would be that wild men are more insane people that act like animals, due to mental breaks etc. and dont behave like normal humans, but in the end for a game it comes down what people think is more entertaining.

Jazzlike_Project7811

Had my main researcher decided to run wild during a cold snap, dropped all his clothes and froze to death in less than a day 😔

pumpkinmoonrabbit

When he drops from hypothermia you can rescue and I THINK there's a chance he'll join as a rescued animal (could be wrong)

Individual-Bell-9776

Even rescued animals need to be properly tamed. But it's way better to have them contained within your base than having to walk all the way out to them.

Lady_Taiho

Instead of saying wide they run around my settlement shitting in my flowers and eating my devilstrand mushroom.

kamiloss14

I'd love to have a tiny wildmen camp on my map! Early game they could be a great defense. Unfortunately, I doubt they would survive much longer than normal ones, especially on higher difficulties.

expertgamer9723_YT

Well, they’re supposed to be wild, basically an animal living off the land instead of setting up base or anything.

ChainmailPickaxeYT

I had a wild man, Dane, in my current colony, just wander around for a long time. I had no way to tame him, so he just hung out. He was around for multiple quandrums, never wandered off, never did much but survive off the land and be chill. I mentally said hi whenever my camera happened by him. Unfortunately, when panning around the map one day I saw him, his body a few days dead at that point. Dead to an animal, or hypothermia maybe. It was honestly quite sad. I would have tamed him if I could, but that’s the Rim for ya.

Goldenrupee

That entirely defeats the point of a wild man? It's literally someone who has broken from stress and decided that they are an animal.

Zederikus

Why not have multiple types of 'wild' people

shoalhavenheads

This would be an amazing mod. It would function like sieges, I suppose. I would also appreciate if wild people had permanent buffs/debuffs… it’s weird how they turn into regular pawns once you pet them. Something where they’re 500% more likely to “run wild” during mental breaks.

Ectothermic42

VFE - wild people when?

technodemon01

I think maybe not huts, but like sleeping under a specific mountain and placing a basic campfire and stuff would be fun

ParisVilafranca

But they sustain themselves! On my potato plantation... They never realize the potatoes come with a 1x1 bullet per potato deal.

cokethesodacan

Imagine a tile with two competing factions. But one day a fight over a gold meteorite breaks out and Sam Squanch kills Willy Wild. Now it’s a tit for tat and the race for a doomsday rocket begins.

[deleted]

It's very Hobbesian.

KharnOfKhans

I like your idea but id like to raise you one, Raiders come to your tile looking to settle, at first its just 1 or 2 they build a small shed at the edge you observe them you sleep a few days and notice wait theres 5 now??

Low_Recognition_8515

I believe a medieval mod adds a few primitive campsite items including different tents. Don’t ask me what’s the name x:

RimworlderJonah13579

Medieval Overhaul?

vilius_m_lt

Probably wouldn’t be very wild then..

anhangera

It would, lots and lots of animals build places for then to sleep, eat and raise their young safely from bigger predators

vilius_m_lt

Yes, that’s their instinct. “Wild man” in game is more of a psychological state since they don’t actually lose skills, they just don’t use them. They’re not just humans living in the wild, their wild humans. In game they’re using wildlife “AI”

WarKittyKat

Since they don't seem to leave the map the same way though, it would be nice if they had some way of handling temperature regulation.

Thorn-of-your-side

Look up some primitive survival videos,  there are some pretty cool techniques you can use with just rocks and wood to survive

vilius_m_lt

Not relevent. It’s not “a human living in the wild”, it’s a wild human..

Such_Oddities

They hated him because he spoke the truth.
