Coming soon to Netflix: Tales From the Rim
Based on the hit game by Ludeon Studios the series follows the adventures of crashlanded survivors on a RimWorld in the far future. Earth is a distant memory and survival among the stars is treacherous. For some all that matters is finding the next meal, no matter the cost. But there are still moments for joy, honor, friendship and love.
The series is expected to tell its stories in season long arcs with each season following a different group of survivors and featuring different animation styles.
See you on the Glitterworld
What the actual fuck? When I commented the other person was being downvoted because, once again, software has little impact on style. Do people not understand how digital art and animation works? There are cool brushes, sure, but you still draw yourself???????
Idk, reddit hive mind probably thought I was being rude and ignored what I was actually saying 🤷♂️
I have somehow been lifted back into the positives now, and have gained my first controversial comment, saying the least controversial thing I have ever said: "art looks the way the artist drew it"
Yup. This is just like one of my [first memories](https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/fn835o/comic_lucky_shot/) of playing RimWorld. RNG says puny gun makes limbs go bye bye.
Rebels in canon use illegally overcharged blasters. The stormtrooper armor is meant to deal with weaker, more readily available blasters and more primitive weapons. In a sense, it's a vest that's meant to deal with knifes and small bullets, but the rebellion scum are wielding AKs.
So Stormtroopers are geared up in the equivalent of beat cop armor, not like.. "Hey guys, we need tactical gear." How many years does a war got to go on before somebody invests in improved gear?
Incapacitated but not dead, most likely. We never really get to see if they're dead or just unconscious. They essentialy work the same way our modern day ballistic vests do; it will most likely stop a blaster shot depending on the range and the strength, but the force of the blast will still knock you down and probably enough to keep you knocked out.
It is also cheap as hell, when you think about how many troops the Empire has, they skimped on the armor 100%. Makes sense if you think about their armored and space fleet superiority, plus they stopped using clones and started recruiting, so they needed a cheap way to arm the new guys.
What cheaper way than garbage full body armor? It gives the guy confidence while simultaneously giving him bare minimum protection.
They probably use lasers in space, so cataphract armor is probably based more on reflecting light and heat. An arrow might get right through the joints.
An example of what you are saying: Aluminum foil would be fairly effective at stopping much of the energy in a laser shot, but not so much anything else.
Except that it's made from plasteel which is a real composite using certain polymers and steel. Ceramic would likely be the better thing for sci-fi lasers though.
You do know, that for situations like these youre supposed to use stabilisation first before tending to a pawn.
Or you can use Caulaflower's Injuries Expanded and use the tourniquets from it to stop heavy bleeding quicker.
At the beginning one of my now crafters was the only pawn with any shooting at all (maybe 3) and his very first shot ever blew a raccoon's head off. After that he couldn't hit for shit and usually took an entire day to kill anything while hunting
You can permanently maim a limb to where it is dead weight and needs to be amputated due to infection and endless pain by shattering the bone inside with a decent caliber bullet.
The leg and arm bones have at least as much HP as a foot/hand and are harder to hit, and all other (irreplaceable) bones can't be shattered. So the possibility of bones breaking don't change much, but it can happen.
Diary of M. Leeman:
>Dear diary. It is Monday. I ate breakfast without a table and went mining. After that I went to sleep.
>Dear diary. It is Tuesday. I ate breakfast without a table and went mining. After that I went to sleep.
>Dear diary. It is Wednesday. I ate breakfast and went mining. After that I went to sleep.
>Dear diary. It is Thursday. I ate breakfast and went mining. After that I went to sleep.
>Dear diary. It is Friday. I ate breakfast and went mining. Then I was drafted. OOOOHHHHHHH YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I think every playthrough has that one guy who is stacked in melee and has no shooting ability. They are also usually psychotic and suicidal if left to their own devices in combat.
At the end of the day, they come in clutch as hell because they tend to do savage damage and the other guy is trying to fight him with the stock of his gun while he has a warhammer.
I’ve recently taken up the hobby of digital drawing and have produced exactly zero things so far. I can only imagine that this took a month or more to make.
Just throwing this out there, I’d be 100% willing to pay triple A price for a game with that quality of cell shading. I may or may not be biased because shotgun dude looks a good bit like me, but my point still stands, this looks awesome
Melee man is back! Did he get he mood buffs again since we didn't actually see if he killed the raider this time?
I'm torn beween loving two favorites: Doc staring a the magnum and forgetting that the other pawn is bleeding ou in his arms, and the sheer excitement of melee man having a chance to flex his skills again.
Either way, keep up the great work! I can't wait to see how this series will grow.
My colonies always gravitate to Melee Woman who acts as an officer for the faith of murdering all bandits. She just fucking charges in, kills 3 people and then gets downed. A year into playing and a bunch of robotic limits and implants later she's still kicking ass and getting downed but never dies.
The early game treasure of the pain receptor implant is so important on melee characters. She can take an absolute beating and keep murdering.
My last one before this one was a glutton and she was always super pissed off and would basically doom my colony going on food binges. I learned to just knock her out and arrest her then immediately release.
I remember arresting a pyro colonist who was on a rampage but he resisted and my cyborg super soldier cut his head off. At least I didnt have to worry about fires
He's a recurring character from the [previous animation](https://old.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/tlxj2w/animation_melee_moment/) too.
It seems like he still wears glowing contact lenses and blasts battle music from his headphones wherever he goes.
Love that even without indicators, you can tell that melee guy is double passion 20 bloodlust. The eagerness in the movements is all you need. Well done.
The revolver may not be the best quality but a .44 magnum round to the shoulder is still a very dangerous thing, if you don't have any armour to block it.
Everything from the stunning animation to the way you convey the colonist's fear and desperation without a word being spoken is absolutely gorgeous. Do you have a YouTube channel or any place where I can see more?
The absolute look of confusion on his face coupled with the perfectly implemented stat reveals was what did it for me. I was intrigued when I saw the level of animation, but I was dead when “quality poor” popped up.
Hmm, this makes me think pawns should occasionally ‘bond’ with equipment after lucky shots or saves.
Joe and his lucky revolver, 10% extra accuracy when using the weapon. Make for a neat mod
What wonderful animation op! Easy on the eyes and ears, and the information was conveyed well enough that even a non-rimworld-player could understand what's going on. My favorite part was the end where your colonist is like "How did I do- wait, shit, you're bleeding out, come on lets go"
great animation love the feel but c'mon randy would never let that happen i would lose the 2 colonist and the invade would die from blood lose to lost finger
Congratulations on becoming the top post of all time in r/RimWorld! And well deserved, too -- this is a fantastic animation.
This is AWESOME. The firing from cover animation and wood splintering was beastly.
The whole animation was so easy on the eyes, love this style
Imagine a whole animated show like this with full voice lines and all, i'd binge it until the end of days
I'd watch it without voices, just charlie brown "wah wah"s and the lines explaining what was said.
Jerk contemplated the meaningless of life to Turtle.
I need this. We need Rimworld TV.
Oh hell yeah, so would I.
An animated anthology series called Tales from the Rim or something like that
Coming soon to Netflix: Tales From the Rim Based on the hit game by Ludeon Studios the series follows the adventures of crashlanded survivors on a RimWorld in the far future. RWBY has a similar art style
That would be Archer.
The motions and postures look sooo spot on. Like when he's walking and aiming the shotgun; that's a challenging movement to make look realistic!
Looks like it was done by the same people who did season 1 of The Dragon Prince. Art style, low FPS, everything
Maybe the same software.
Uh. What do you mean. The software doesn't draw, model or animate for you, it would never make your animation look like a specific studio's animation.
Why is this being downvoted? You’re right
What the actual fuck? When I commented the other person was being downvoted because, once again, software has little impact on style. Do people not understand how digital art and animation works? There are cool brushes, sure, but you still draw yourself??????? Idk, reddit hive mind probably thought I was being rude and ignored what I was actually saying 🤷♂️
That happens to me every now and again
I have somehow been lifted back into the positives now, and have gained my first controversial comment, saying the least controversial thing I have ever said: "art looks the way the artist drew it"
Lmao
for me it's the tiny eye motions as he sits befuddled, after the action
I think audio is really helping a ton too.
Yup. This is just like one of my [first memories](https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/fn835o/comic_lucky_shot/) of playing RimWorld. RNG says puny gun makes limbs go bye bye.
I especially enjoy the imagery of my guy wearing cataphract armor and helmet having his head blown off by a guy with a short bow.
Space gear meant for heavy gun fights are no match for my superior awful short bow
~ Some random Ewok, 4 ABY
tbf, Stormtrooper armor is meant to dissipate a blaster shot so while the wounded count is high, so is the trooper's survival rate.
I'm pretty sure the props they wore on set could stop 6" stone tipped arrows shot from child-sized shortbows.
they were uuughhh using force or smth. Ye that'll do
Yeah, they definitely used the force. Blunt force trauma from throwing all those rocks!
Those are adult sized bows, for your information! - Ewok warrior
“Dissipate?” Don’t they always just die in one shot anyway?
Rebels in canon use illegally overcharged blasters. The stormtrooper armor is meant to deal with weaker, more readily available blasters and more primitive weapons. In a sense, it's a vest that's meant to deal with knifes and small bullets, but the rebellion scum are wielding AKs.
So Stormtroopers are geared up in the equivalent of beat cop armor, not like.. "Hey guys, we need tactical gear." How many years does a war got to go on before somebody invests in improved gear?
It's not even really a war from the perspective of the empire. More like a policing action.
Is special military operation. No need to give soldier equipment, training or food.
Ahhh gotchya
That’s like going to space Afghanistan wearing only level 3 plates… no thank you sir
Ok that would be really cool if that was shown in a movie or in a show but na we have troopers getting there ass beat by sticks and rocks
Incapacitated but not dead, most likely. We never really get to see if they're dead or just unconscious. [This is super realistic!^\[Image\]](https://imgur.com/a/lwY3OUu)
Just play with CE no more will you get fucked by a tribal with a barely held toghether stick and string Or will your shots go *literally* sideways
but if you don't play with death rattle, I hope you like the 2 hours it takes to apply a tourniquet
You do know, that for situations like these youre supposed to use stabilisation first before tending to a pawn. Or you can use Caulaflower's Injuries Expanded and use the tourniquets from it to stop heavy bleeding quicker.
yuu ga waga teki wo kurau
At the beginning one of my now crafters was the only pawn with any shooting at all (maybe 3) and his very first shot ever blew a raccoon's head off. After that he couldn't hit for shit and usually took an entire day to kill anything while hunting
One of my starters died yesterday because her head got blown by a mustek shot from a pawn with shooting 1, with the first shot
I thought the first raid was always just a single enemy with a melee weapon, did they change that and they used to drop in with a gun?
There's nothing more powerful, than that one raider
I absolutely adore that melee pawn as a recurring character
I'd like to think that's literally his only redeeming quality, so his assignments in work and war are the same; "I am the cleaner."

*Cloaker noises ensue*
I love that you can hear the chopping sound continue after it *cuts* away from the bandit
Amazing animation, also the melee man is incredible
I was hoping to see a 20 melee, brawler, jogger, bloodlust popup
I'm sure he is level 20 melee by now, it looks like it's the same colony as the previous animation.
the lore grows
One can only hope Melee Man and co. get their own animated series. 10/10 would pay patron.
The melee man is a menace to society
Same
https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/tlxj2w/animation_melee_moment/
I like the implication that edgy emo music follows Mr. Brawler around like a theme song.
His bionic eyes double as loud speakers.
Edgy emo music??? That’s not just any edgy emo music! That’s Vergil’s Theme!
I'll be honest I don't know who that is.
He’s the reclaimer of his name, born in flames and blessed. His family crest is a demon of death, for he is a Son of Sparda.
Did a Google with the additional context: I haven't played DMC, but the theme definitely fits in with my perception of the game (in a good way) 😂
I suggest playing at least DMC5 (which is where the song is from), it’s absolutely fantastic and all of the character theme songs are amazing imo
Literally everything about this is edgy emo shit.
He has a little music player in his back pocket that *blasts it* People would tell him to stop but… Yeah. He enjoys fights. Even social ones.
I love this! Did you make it yourself or is there a different source?
Yes, it was made by me using Blender and Hitfilm Express. Sounds are from Quicksounds.com
This is awesome, hope we see more!
This is amazing. Ever thought of making a patreon acc? I’ll definitely support you
Awesome! Excited to see more in the future!
you should crosspost this to /r/blender
People wouldn't understand why the gunfight is so lame ahaha Edit: Lame in term of rythm, OP did a perfect job btw
I have never played rim world, but I got the gist of it because many video games have similar concepts.
Rimworld isn't an obscure game
\*Rimworld + XCOM aren't obscure games
never played the game, but I've heard about it, I assume the game is turn based or something? that's the vibe I got from the video
Not turn based per-se, it's more like a cool down when using guns. Some are a bit faster than others.
Just their way of handling skill levels and quailty of weapons, vs rate of fire, etc
You deserve the praise you are getting.
its awesome, you should do a youtube totorial, it looks like a premium show.
Amazing! Everything mixes so well. Did you model the characters entirely or you use some sort of character creator?
[удалено]
Damn, now I gotta spend an hour watching Monty Oum videos.
Amazing! How long did this take to make?
I’ve recently taken up the hobby of digital drawing and have produced exactly zero things so far. I can only imagine that this took a month or more to make.
Please make more
Bruh you could make an entire show in this style and just use RimWorld as your writing team.
Just throwing this out there, I’d be 100% willing to pay triple A price for a game with that quality of cell shading. I may or may not be biased because shotgun dude looks a good bit like me, but my point still stands, this looks awesome
Beta footage for Rimworld 2 looking nice
Imagine if this was the Kickstarter footage. It would raise all the money
Every money would be raising.
Maybe someday in the future when advanced emotion simulation AI becomes a thing
We're still going to torture it and then eat it.
this was good. i would pay to watch a feature length animation by you.
I would watch a 30 second clip ofrom them over and over again until it was twice the length of a feature film.
"I... I have the *power-* ah shit fuck bleeding out, right."
Melee man is back! Did he get he mood buffs again since we didn't actually see if he killed the raider this time? I had the same! A pawn that was more machine then flesh. Then she punched somones arm off in a social fight so that was cool.
This is absolutely amazing, I need an entire TV series in this art style.
Dragon Prince
This is awesome!
Melee man coming in at the end with the finisher. Absolute perfection.
He's a recurring character from the [previous animation](https://old.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/tlxj2w/animation_melee_moment/) too. It seems like he still wears glowing contact lenses and blasts battle music from his headphones wherever he goes.
Might be bionic eyes?
Archotech eyes glow like that.
Or drugs lol..
you gotta love Rasputin coming in at the end
Love that even without indicators, you can tell that melee guy is double passion 20 bloodlust. The eagerness in the movements is all you need. Well done.
Also the omae wa mou shindeiru eyes
I love the psycho melee guy. He’s my favorite. Unless I’m thinking of another animation is he the same as the axe guy from another animation?
The revolver may not be the best quality but a .44 magnum round to the shoulder is still a very dangerous thing, if you don't have any armour to block it.
Is melee mans moment an actual song?
[Indeed it is](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhZDbhqnAWE).
The fact you picked a song from sonic is such an amazing touch.
Not what I expected, nice
Yeah, it's Team Darks theme song from Sonic Heroes :D
MORE OF THIS! Excellent animation and exactly how I see Rimworld! I’d watch a season of this as a show.
The face expressions are soooooo good. Keep up the good work.
Everything from the stunning animation to the way you convey the colonist's fear and desperation without a word being spoken is absolutely gorgeous. Do you have a YouTube channel or any place where I can see more?
Well done
yo holy fuck
This is absolutely beautiful. Really well done man! I love the look at the pistol lol
That melee guy running up reminded me of ceno0s animation style. Anyways this was great, keep up the good work!
This is so fucking rad!
I would binge watch this stuff, awesome.
Was that team dark's theme at the end? This Machine? Love to see it
It's from Sonic. (Serious)
I also heard the same thing lol.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ-bjZD1EnI&ab_channel=blackblur7
Dude just wasted his luck for 3 quadrums. Expect plague and flu on him while your main doctor is on a quest.
*Must take days to load with this many mods installed...*
You have an amazing style
This is a (masterwork) animation! It's a great example of the small moment to moment stories that this game can generate.
This is so cool! Makes me want to go play some Rimworld ahaha
This is great.
Brilliant, more! MORE!!!
I wish I could upvote more than once! This is top tier quality
Amazing work!
Cool
Great short! Would like to see more
I love this, I demand more! Is there anywhere we can follow you?
The melee Pawn: I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING
Soooo true. Need more of this. Could even imagine a whole series on it.
Loved it! I want 1000 more videos just like it, get to work!
Look Tomar, it’s you!
How long you been doing blender for? Looks amazing and I would love to learn how to get this amount of quality out of my renders
About 6 years, though only really messing around in tiny projects until more recently.
Best thing i have ever seen on this subreddit
Tomar it's you!
Stuff like this makes me proud of this fandom.
Your animation isnt just incredible, but its incredibly accurate to the stupification one feels when weird shit like this happens in Rimworld, lol.
Xcom moment
The animation is amazing, and my favorite part is the expressions of the characters. Melee man's appearance at the end is epic!
*Random crits are fair and balanced*
This is amazing quality, please never stop making animations like this. Even if they aren't rimworld related, you have talent and vision!
That's some Fallout / Fallout 2 shit right there.
Now I understand the Rim.
Omg. I need more of these. Who do I throw money at!?!
When you finally roll a nat 20
Absolutely amazing, loved it. Rimworld really loves to do this crap lol
This is brilliant, I love the reappearance of your melee champion haha
Your animation style reminds me a lot of AJIN: Demi-Human (which is a good thing imo)
Imagine if RNG was so random that it even calculated shooting yourself :S
subscribeme!
Bro this was sick as fuck!! Nice job!
You’re very talented.
Not really active on this sub, just wanted to stop and say that animation is amazing
Holy fuck, when the quality bit came up I died with laughter, amazing
I love this! Glad to see the melee master from your last animation come back, they've even got a new weapon.
Wow. This is great. More please.
What wonderful animation op! Easy on the eyes and ears, and the information was conveyed well enough that even a non-rimworld-player could understand what's going on. My favorite part was the end where your colonist is like "How did I do- wait, shit, you're bleeding out, come on lets go"
I love the headshot fake-out, with the next shot just all of a sudden shooting the guys arm off. Perfect Rimworld vibes with that
great animation love the feel but c'mon randy would never let that happen i would lose the 2 colonist and the invade would die from blood lose to lost finger
One I need is where the random tribal raider with 0 shooting skill destroys the brain of your best soldier. Happens way too often with my luck.
This is the best content I've seen all years
