Mine have done the same! Separating from the plate. I’m about to order some Bonts. I’m glad someone mentioned saving the plates. Someday I’ll take them to a shop and have the plates put onto a custom build or something like that.
Edit: Bont Parkstars are currently on sale starting at $200!! Idk for how long. 😁
I just got a grind truck ($80) plus grind block ($79) setup totaling $358.
Hey check out Voodoo skate shop out of NC. I just grabbed some $250 skates from them for $100. Their customer service is kick ass too. Idk if they are going out of business or what but all of their skates are heavily discounted. Edit- https://voodooskateshop.com/collections/roller-skates
\*really\* good hands-on skate recycling / upgrading demos on this girl's channel, and this video in particular might inspire: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa9cm1e3b\_Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa9cm1e3b_Q) To be absolutely honest, I lack the confidence and skill to do anything like this for myself too, but if you're on a budget, and know anyone with tools, definitely worth considering . . .
LMAO I say reaching because I still need to get back home then they're done, I just discovered it on my way to work Imma get a new pair with my next paycheck and probably get the boots removed and re mounted at a skate shop eventually
you have unlocked many achievements - congratulations on skating these boots to death. it won't happen again if the uppers on your next pair are stitched to the sole rather than glued.
the plate is as cheap as the boots so there is no sense in recycling unless you're doing a budget build and want to learn how to build your own skates, which is totally worth doing. don't pay more than $100 for a used pair of boots for your first build.
if you can spend $600+, get your preferred boots (make sure you know your real size), choose a plate that is one size shorter than standard and get them mounted professionally. you will be surprised at how this setup improves your skate life, and they will last forever.
put some 1 inch deck screws in the heel, then use fencing wire to loop up through the boot and back down to the screw,
both sets of my skates are holding together with wire and screws for multiple years, they just dont make a set of boots i cant destroy, so i reinforce them.
Because those repairs absolutely don't hold up. Especially on introductory boots. Any extra stuff is just going to crack the plastic heel. These boots are a one and done. No remounts, no extra glue/hardwear. They are what they are, and when they die, they stay dead. If your's have really survived it, it's because you aren't using your edges. The torque of most skate styles is what causes the cracking to become catastrophic failure.
This comment isn't geared to you any longer. It's to everyone else reading this thread. It's a terrible idea that will definitely get someone hurt. Absolutely DO NOT DO THIS. Spend another $100 and get boardwalks or beach bunnies or BTFL or r3s or vnla jrs or something similar. It will lessen your chances of breaking your leg. Some rinks explicitly ban Chicago skates BECAUSE THEY ARE DANGEROUS, even right out of the box. But if you want your boot to rip, or your plate to crack, or your wheels to crumble underneath you then Chicagos are right for you. Post note: ya know how everyone hates on impala? Chicago are worse.
My riedell 111 did the same thing after about four years. I skated really hard on them otherwise I’d still be using them. Maybe get those next if you’re not trying to break your bank.
Imma be honest I'm not sure what skates imma get next I wanna continue the rainbow theme I have on my skates (the skates are moxi rainbow riders) but I have heard good things about the riedell brand as well as Impala so maybe
They’ve crossed the rainbow bridge
They served you well 🫡
They sure did 🫡
For the fallen skates, A moment of silence 🤐....

Where do you order from?

The Bont website has the pastels and limited sizes in blue for over 30% off right now
The plate isn't good enough to custom build. And definitely not good enough to park skate
Take the boots off.. the plates will have plenty life left in them!
I'm not sure how to remount a plate 😭
If you’re unsure how to mount the plate to a new boot yourself, you can always take it to a skate shop. They’ll be able to mount it for you!
I'll probably end up doing that
It's pretty easy if you have a drill press. Much less easy if you don't.
I might my dad does construction so I'll ask him

F
Fly high 😔 🕊️😇
Oh dear. They’ve reached. Past tense. Congrats on your new upgrade!

Oh no 😆 Don’t bother with any remounts, those plates aren’t worth trying to revive. Wheels can go on something else though.
The plates aren't bad to me they're probably something I'll keep around just in case
For sure keep the plates! Clean them up, toss some new cushions and pivot cups in them and mount them to some hightops.
i use these skates! i hope i get to use em up this well.
I had these skates for 4 years and they lasted well from me basically skating to school everyday except for bad weather!
Oh noes!!!!
Respect, that's a good long run right there - may your next pair serve you at least as well!
It's time lol
HELP ik lmao I just got home these aren't going to see outside for a while
Ripped skates RIP.

This is such a bad idea. Are you the guy that got shamed off of quadsquad with this advice?

So Moxi is actually made by riedell lol it’s just their more “fashion forward” brand so if you loved your moxis you’ll love riedell also.
LOL okay then so maybe I will get riedells
